Need help deleting TWRP folder - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Good morning. My issue sounds simple enough but it is driving me insane!! I am trying to delete my TWRP backup folder. Tried es file explorer.....root explorer. .....hooked phone up to my laptop and tried deleting that way but nothing works. I can remove any other folder/file but this one. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Try navigating to the folder through system/storage/ then either extsdcard or sdcard0 the to the twrp folder and delete it. Sometimes it works that way when not working directly.
Note 3 or Gear Sent

For some reason they're protected but you can delete them by connecting to a computer and navigate to the folder.

Maybe if you stock your recovery and then try to delete it, that may work. But who has time for that?

Tried all the above and nothing. .....not a major issue but the 2 backups I want to delete are gonna eventually cause me space issues.

I'm able to do it both within root explorer and TWRP. Try booting into recovery, hit restore, and the option to delete a backup should be there. The backups on this phone are huge, which is such a bummer.
The permissions for each backup folder appear to be identical, rwx, rwx-rw. Files within each backup folder have permissions of rw, rw, r.
The thing that drives me nuts are the timestamps on the backups showing 1970. I haven't messed with naming schema. Could be easy enough to fix, but I haven't looked into it. Perhaps a protect backup option exists within session, which would explain things. Maybe the answer is on the TWRP site.
Let us know if you get this figured out.

I'll keep you posted. I sent an email to teamwin website Saturday. I imagine it'll be a day or two for I hear back from them

I wound up giving root explorer a try and it did the trick. Very strange that that was the only way I could get to delete it tho but I got it!!!

cant root my samsung galaxy showcase sch-i500

Hello i am new to this website and i was wanting to know how to root my samsung galaxy showcase sch-i500 from c-spire wireless.I had my phone rooted before i upgraded to gingerbread the other day.I have found some directions on the website but i guess i am not doing them right.I downloaded the gingerbreak from chasefire and i scaned it with my phone but it is showing as wall papper on my applications any help would be appreciated and sorry for asking this question if it has already been asked thanks
Try this app
This is the easiest one I'd used to root my Fascinate I500, But remember to manually restart your phone by removing your battery and putting it back in. For some reason it's not doing that at the end of the process. Good luck.

Rooting i500
Did you ever get root enabled, I imagine you tried superoneclick and it failed. If you didn't get root I can help. It requires cwm and a root-package zip that you flash with cwm.
Problems rooting
I think it may have worked for the original poster but i am having BIG problems rooting my phone from cspire. The one click does not work and i have tried three other ways to do it. I am able to get recovery console access but past that nothing has happened. I followed the instructions at galay forums.net (wont let me post link but when i got to the part where i install the "su-x.x.x.x.zip" file i get the message "installed successfully. enjoy!" but when i reboot to try to go to the next step it always reboots into the recovery. Please help!

thats the exact setup I havei just got this phone asa replacement, did you use Odin to flash recovery then flash zip I linked up?I can send you what ever file you need to complete it(recovery root zip etc.) just lemme know
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
Yes I used the recovery flash (red clockwork mod) to flash the zip you uploaded for me. It says that it installs and that there are no problems but when I back out and reboot it will just boot back into clockwork rather than into the android os. The closest I've had it to booting right was using the su.x.x.x.x.zip file but when that was used my phone just boot looped (samsung logo boot up bid sanding logo for about two minutes reboot rinse and repeat)

[Boot Animation] ICS Boot Animation 800x1280

I came across this Ice Cream Sandwich boot animation adjusted for the Note, and thought I would share it with you guys.
Thanks to febycv for the original animation as found on the Galaxy Nexus.
Thanks to aussiebum for adjusting it to fit the resolution of the Galaxy Note.
Original Thread
**You MUST have root access, as found HERE**
Download Here!
Installation Instuctions:
1. Download sanim.zip to a directory on your sd card
2. Using root explorer or another root file explorer, place the sanim.zip file in /system/media/
3. Reboot, and enjoy this delicious boot animation!
I take no credit for creating or modifying this boot animation.
Hmmm, doesn't seem to work for me.
If you rooted using Da_G's Pre Rooted kernal, then make sure it looks exactly as it does in this picture. And try setting permissions to rw-r-r. If you rooted using a different method, maybe try naming it "bootanimation.zip". Hope you get it working.

I rooted using Mashi's method, although my screen looks exactly like yours so I don't think that's the problem. I've tried both versions of naming the file with the correct permissions set but to no avail....weird.

I put it in the folder and set permissions and everything seemed fine it booted the ICS animation but then I got a massive barrage of force closes. Rebooted again and got stuck at the samsung logo. Had to do a recovery in CWM.
Hmmm. I haven't experienced any of these issues. I wonder why its not working for you guys.

I got the same thing when I tried it yesterday. My phone was running DAGr8s saurom. Had to restore as well. Haven't retried it since.

For those who can't get it to work, what ROMs are you running?
Stock using Mashi's rooting method. Set permissions and didn't seem to do anything using either file name.
I believe that the problem is because you didn't use Da_G's Pre rooted kernel. If I remember correctly, custom boot animations need be be enabled at the kernel level, which is what Da_G has done with his rooting method.

The problem is that you've flashed a rom that is not Loki patched. Flash one that is and the message will abate.

Essentially the same thing except mine is red
Well if he can't get past the boot screen of the unauthorized software he can't flash anything unless he does it in recovery. The only other option besides recovery is to Stock Restore.
This is one of the first phones ive done rooting myself
And I dont think I will ever quit now
BUT
How do I do that. Flash one Loki Patched
Check out the official Roms list in general section. That can give you the steps to do a wipe, but if you can get into recovery, just install one of those roms

So I have the Recovery screen and its allowing me to get ZIPS from my EXT sd card , but currently I only have omega
This is one of my first times with any of this so step by step may be needed
and what if I just go to restore.. Yes or No
You can do the no wipe restore. Or download a new ROM into the micro SD if you have an SD adapter and slot for it.

How do I find out which ROMS wll actually work for this phone
I cant believe omega didnt ..
Any of them on the Roms list will work.

So lastly ..
Where do I find this rom list. is it suppose to be in recovery because all I can find is the rom I placed
No you will have to download it. The list is just a list of Roms that are available for download.
Look in the general section

Is that possible to do in RECOVERY
no... you have to somehow get the kernel into your phone or microSD Card

You can adb sideload ROMs or kernels from within recovery so the zips don't have to be on your phone as long as you have access to a computer and adb.

I have tried at least 5x's on 2 seperate wifi networks to update and it fails every time. I was rooted prior. Now unrooted and bootloader is locked. I checked all files and there is no trace of any recoveries in my files..anyone know what I can do? Even if I can stop the prompt to update would be great.

Are you still getting the notification after your phone rebooted? Go to about phone what baseband are you on.

Youre still on mdk which is good. If you lost root youll have to reroot. Rename sdm.apk to sdm.apk.bak or delete if you so choose and itll stop the notifications. Quite a few threads on this as well

There's a root method, but it's a gimped one. Only update if flashing recoveries, roms, kernels, etc is unimportant to you.

I am fine with stock rom and root.
BTW, I found the issue....
I had updated the sound files to boost the level outputs in system/etc/snd_soc_msm folder. When I was using the recovery method to install the update stored in /cache/fota that's when the error presented itself (instead of just "update failed"). As a good boy, I kept the original files and just pasted them over the modded ones. The update is flashing as we speak. As long as I have root file access and maybe tethering, then I'm good.
I WOULD like to tinker with ROMs, but, there isn't time for that anyways.

Empty efs folder

If you can send me screen shots of the contents of the FactoryApp folder and its proper permisions and the text contained in the file inside there called factorymode and its correct permissions...with the file I created I can get my lockscreen and reboot menu working again and get rid of the large yellow box covering my homescreen...but it is gone again on reboot...maybe I'm not getting all the stuff right in the files or setting perms wrong...if you wouldn't mind that would be a huge step in the right direction and I would greatly appreciate it
