[Q] i9100 vs 4s gaming - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would galaxy s2 or iphone 4s be good for the latest high graphical intensive games. I can buy s2 refurbished for 182 dollars unlocked or pseudo like new iphone 4s white 32gb unlocked for 250 dollars. Which device should handle all high end games from gameloft and games like gta vice city gta 3 need for speed most wanted, at fullest graphic detail without the slightest lag. >>>>> Note i can only choose s2 or 4s so please no posting about another device.

I'm using my S2 too for gaming (during train rides). The S2 works fine with recent heavy games. It even runs Asphalt 8 in high quality mode without a hitch (it's defaulting to medium quality, but it can be changed in the game settings).
EDIT: it also runs "need for speed most wanted" just fine.
The 4S also has an heavy GPU, so that will do fine too.
One big advantage of the S2 is the screen size. You will certainly appreciate this while gaming.

SII has bigger screen and if you need extra horsepower just install a custom kernel and overclocked the CPU and GPU. Iphones however have games that are hightly optimized so framerates have been know to be one of the best

Better to be safe than sorry,so buy 2 of each.

[Q] Wich is the Best Device???[/Q]

Hello DuuDe's! 'Sup!?
I know, every device(CellPhone) is best at one department, but i wanna Know: (3 Questions)
1-Wich is the best Device With 512mb of RAM?
2-Wich is the best Device With 768mb of RAM?
3-Wich is the best Device With 1024mb of RAM?
I wanna know all these 3 segments.
The device im seeking, is one that No matter what App or Game i "Trow" to it, it execute it Flawlessly.
And I know, i cant install like 300k apps because that loads the device and lags it, but i know the Ext2/3/4 partition Trick
NOTE: Really dont care too much if its LTE enable or not. If price difference is considerable for just Having LTE i may discard it... All because in my country LTE will arrive in 2016 if not latter :'(
Anyway, if you guys help me with that, I Will be Thankfully
Cheers!
LG Optimus Speed, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S2
I'd definitely say, the best smartphone (also because it has 1GB RAM) is the Galaxy S2 which runs super smooth and should handle every apps flawlessly (just for some Tegra games you need to install chainfire but the 1.2GHz Dual Core Chip plus Hardware acceleration is awesome).
The number of devices with 768MB RAM isn't that big either, I'd choose the HTC Sensation which also has a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and nice screen and built quality, maybe runs a tiny bit worse that the S2 but it is definitely a great phone which also probably handles apps and games without problems.
The number of devices with 512 MB RAM is endless and the qualities of these devices depend on many things.
They usually handle applications and games (also 3d ones) as they are menu to be- all which is more a matter of the used processor. The best chip in a 512MB RAM phone is in the LG Optimus speed I think (Nvidia Tegra2, dual core) which runs very nice, also with high end Tegra optimized 3d games, and the OS will be even faster if you install CM7. The speed is pretty cheap for a dual core phone btw.
Hope this helps.

Thanks men, i see more clear now.
The HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio, its worth to expect the release of it?
What do you say? Should i spect 2012 for buy the phone?
All those 3 options, or any Dual-Core phone will last 2 year flawless on executing Apps?
I ask because, i see how the phone world is evolving... Like Gaming on PC, in 6 month u cant play the last games... I don't want giving 500/600 and in 1 year or less i have to change it, cuz lag/Don't Execute
2 years is a very long time
It's impossible to pretend how the whole thing will develop in two years, it's just certain that we will at least have Quadcore chips then (Nvidia's quadcore processor will probably come in the first quarter of 2012 and the devices a little later). And I'm pretty sure that there will be games optimized for this Nvidia chipset which may not run anywhere else- like it's today with the Tegra2. But the number of those games is relatively small (at least now) and most current 3d games with nice graphics van be played on current (or even >1 year old 1GHz) phones, look at the SE Xperia play!
The Sensation XE is no bad choice (1.5GHz Dual Core Snapdragon, 768MB of RAM, but that isn't that hugely important for the choice of games). If you can get it for a good price you won't buy a bad phone with a powerful processor- although I think I'd still prefer the Galaxy S2.
I really can't guarantee that a phone you but today will do everything a new phone maybe be able to do in two years, I'm even sure that a 2013/2014 device will be able to handle things a 2011 phone won't but you shouldn't be too sad about that. The device will still run well in two years and it will probably run 97% of all available games- but I still can't look into the future.
I don't know how long you want to wait with the purchase of your next phone, in a few months there will be certainly better phones- e.g. the next Nexus will be unveiled in some days, not sure what to expect from it, also the price of current flagships will drop.
What might be great for you if you love gaming would be a successor to the Xperia Play but I haven't heard anything about it yet.

Flash slower than sg2?

I was trying to load Bejeweled blitz from facebooks desktop site and it looks choppy and unsmoothed. I tried it on my friends sg2 and its smooth as butter.
Making me wonder if the sg2 is much better than the prime? I have a g2x and its no where near the speed of the sg2 and I really thought the prime was able to load flash much better but not the case.
Nvidia always!
I cant reproduce it with flash games, but my experience so far is that the Galaxy S2 is MUCH smoother than the Prime in EVERY respect (with the exception of hardware video decoding, but hey...).
HOWEVER I definitely hope that is because of Honeycomb rather than Tegra 3. But I'll have to wait another 2 1/2 weeks for ICS to decide that...
The bizarre thing is that from pure specs, even the Tegra 2 is a faster/more powerful SoC than the Exynos in the SGS2, but it's lacking the NEOS which the SGS2 has. Also remember the SGS2 has to drive a much smaller screen. Also, flash can probably not use the quadcore (?) well.
So far I have to say in general smoothness Tegra 3/HC has been very underwhelming. And the 3 week delay of ICS in Germany does not bode well.
I am on ICS and its not that much of a difference in resolution for it to lag so much. All I can think of is tegra doesn't do well with flash.
Nvidia always!
Wow so I installed chainfire 3d on my g2x and installed the nvidia plug in and guess what? Seems as fast as the sg2. I take it flash just isn't optimized for nvidia. I am gonna try this on the prime and see what the results are
Nvidia always!
Alot smoother and just with chainfire. I wonder how or why?
Nvidia always!
A member of the Android team posted this about smoothness comparisons between the GS2 and the Galaxy Nexus. I think this may apply to the Prime as well.
"Some have raised points along the lines of Samsung Galaxy S2 phones already having a smoother UI and indicating that they are doing something different vs. the Galaxy Nexus. When comparing individual devices though you really need to look at all of the factors. For example, the S2's screen is 480x800 vs. the Galaxy Nexus at 720x1280. If the Nexus S could already do 60fps for simple UIs on its 480x800, the CPU in the S2's is even better off.
The real important difference between these two screens is just that the Galaxy Nexus has 2.4x as many pixels that need to be drawn as the S2. This means that to achieve the same efficiency at drawing the screen, you need a CPU that can run a single core at 2.4x the speed (and rendering a UI for a single app is essentially not parallelizable, so multiple cores isn't going to save you).
This is where hardware accelerated rendering really becomes important: as the number of pixels goes up, GPUs can generally scale much better to handle them, since they are more specialized at their task. In fact this was the primary incentive for implementing hardware accelerated drawing in Android -- at 720x1280 we are well beyond the point where current ARM CPUs can provide 60fps. (And this is a reason to be careful about making comparisons between the Galaxy Nexus and other devices like the S2 -- if you are running third party apps, there is a good chance today that the app is not enabling hardware acceleration, so your comparison is doing CPU rendering on the Galaxy Nexus which means you almost certainly aren't going to get 60fps out of it, because it needs to hit 2.4x as many pixels as the S2 does.)"
A link to the rest of the article is in my sig.
Yeah but why does it work as smooth when applying chainfire 3d? I mean its a world of difference there on both my devices.
Besides the prime has a quad core with a much powerful gpu than the s2
Nvidia always!
Try going to blitz on Facebook or g+ and play without chainfire and then with.
Nvidia always!
Got an s3 now and flash is awesome

[Q] GS2 Gaming Performance/Graphics vs iPhone 4S??

just want to know how noticable the difference in GPU performance is vs the iPhone 4S graphics. Iv seen all the benchmarks, however I dont believe they measure accurately so therefore i am just wondering how different or noticable the graphics are in comparison...
1) Benchmarks are utterly pointless/meaningless. They do not even remotely simulate real world use.
2) How do you make an honest/objective/realistic comparison between two phones with completely different hardware ? Answer: You can't. Any comparison made will be purely subjective/opinion only.

Ive yet to play a game on the sgs2 that doesnt run super smooth....
Riptide gp, dead space etc
Should developers start making more advanced games to maximize GPU potential, the iphone4s will reach its bottleneck for its 800mhz cpu anyway.

[Q] Tegra 3?

Hi. I am going to get a new phone, I am coming off of a Motorola Photon Q. I'm looking for a new phone and I don't really know which ones to get, I have a couple of them at the bottom. I am a moderate user. I text mildly, watch some youtube videos, etc. But I do like playing high-end games. My old Photon Q has an adreno 225, and it strains on playing MC4, around 13 FPS give or take.
The keyboard also just doesn't do much anymore and with 4 GB or storage, I can get one high-end game. -.-. I am considering these phones:
Htc One X+ - Because of good Tegra 3 clocked at 1700 and 64 GB space
Htc Droid DNA - Because of very good screen, but GPU might not be good enough for high end games? (Modern Combat, Asphalt, etc.)
Nexus 4 - Because cheap xD, GPU won't have as much strain on the lower resolution.
LG-G2 - 2300??? S800???? ADRENO330??? OF COURSE!
I haven't researched that many phones. (Only about 15 in-depth) so what is your opinion on these 4 phones? Any suggestions otherwise?
My budget is really around ~400 so the LG-G2 is like a dream haha...
Well thanks in advance!
Don't get a Tegra 3 for gaming. It's slow and it heats up.
Get a phone with a Adreno 320 GPU, they can deliver some power and are far more powerfull than a Tegra 3 with an ancient GPU.
Nexus 4 and HTC Droid DNA both have limited 16gb storage, which will become annoying.
For cheap gaming get a Oppo 5 or LG Optimus G. 32gb and adreno 320.
One X+ is perfect for everything else than gaming. Like music, 64gb and quality output.

AFAIK Droid DNA has external card slot...
I'd wait until the next HTC device comes out with a snapdragon 800 processor. Do some research into that and you'll quickly see why. I'm not talking about HTC's pianist phone the One Macs but soon after that they will have an actual phone size device with same specs. Maybe 4th quarter this year but will well worth the wait. I jumped the gun and got the one x+. Great phone for everything but gaming but if I waited just a few more months I could have gotten the HTC One that is better than Tue one x+ in every way except maybe the size of memory but 32g is more than enough for me personally. Just my input, don't rush cus a few months later a much better device will come out and you'll be like damn, should have waited.

Don't buy a Tegra-powered phone if you want to play Gameloft games (no, I'm not advertising or anything!) E.g. asphalt 7 with this phone around 15 fps. Strangely, mc4 (fun game ) hangs around 40fps! I recommend you to buy a Snapdragon phone instead.

Tegra 3 is a very inefficient chip. It just isn't meant for gaming. As others have pointed out, if you're gaming then you're much better off with an Adreno 320 or better.

Gaming Proformace

I am considering getting the tab s6 as a replacement for my tab s3 my primary use for my s3 used to be gaming but now the device struggles to run most games due to the older quad cor core snapdragon 820 chip so I know the tab s6 will be an upgrade.
However my main game is pubg mobile just wanted to know how the tablet proformes before I buy the 8gb ram version.
Does it run smoothly or stutter and what graphics setting can it run at smoothly also interested about how hot the device gets while gaming in general ?
I have the 8GB version. PUBG is working very well for me - graphics render quickly (high/high). I occasionally got a slight bit of lag when aiming down sight on HDR settings (although that was possibly my Internet connection).
As far as heat goes, it does get warm but not hot - nothing to be concerned about.
Fortnite also runs well (epic - 30FPS max on settings, high - 60FPS) it did drop to around 40 sometimes when jumping from the bus which is to be expected due to the graphics it is rendering at that point.
I've yet to find a game that it struggles with.
Hope this helps
Does that kind of gameplay help :
?
(I know next to nothing about PUBG, sorry if it's irrelevant)
