OTA update available now and rooting is preserved. - Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro

Today I have updated to the latest firmware through OTA and I have selected OTA survival mode in supersu and it just did what it said. The latest update is a bit laggy for first 5 minutes and after that it is really fast n smooth than previous firmwares..

Dont know if anyone faced this prob...but this evening suddenly the battery started draining quickly...it went from 19% to 2% in about 10mins without any running apps...put the phone on charge and restarted the phone...and after the usual restart process there was a msg 'No connection, cannot download attachment'...and the phone was hardly charging...switched off the phone, took the battery off and switched back on...the msg was shown again, but now its charging again properly...

And after performing this update, it eats battery so fast for the very first day. It is because of creating cache file may be as during update it auto wipe cache status and for this reason first five minutes phone also become a bit laggy but after that everything is going very smooth and fast and now battery issue also no more.
Sent from my GT-I8552 using Tapatalk

Ya I checked...it was probably because of the auto-sync...

Always do a battery calibration whenever you do a update otherwise it will eat your battery performance.

Xperia rey rooted -big thanks DooMLooRD

Sony Erricsson Experia Ray .62 firmware flashed to .42 with wotan.
One click rooted thanks to DooMLoRD.
Uninstalled facebok, anonymous usage stats, demo, store, play, and lots and lots of other stock crap with Titanium and the phone seems to be happier.
Also, I dont know how is it possible, but it must be charging the battery remotely now, without me knowing, cause I'm on it since the morning, been outside listening to Jango through 3G, also wi-fi all the time and still 78% battery. Big battery improvement so.
Love it.

Indeed, less battery eating apps, more juice for your phone
Ok, when I got the phone on Friday last, I thought it was a mistake, taking the battery wouldn't last 10 hours.
It was like this every day, say medium use.
Since this morning, bout 11, when I didnt even have a full charge, after rooting and removing lots of apps, it is over 12 hours, and I been using it more than before, puting it back in order, and still have 44% left... Where was that power going Sony? -THE ANONYMOUS USAGE THINGY maybe?

If I update X-Ray over the air from .42 to .62 will the root stay also?
Will all the apps stick as well, or wil it be like after flashing down with wotan?
Will the update put back apps like facebok and other stock?

Yes, root will stay if update is done directly from phone over 3G or Wifi(Over the Air).
Yes, apps and all your data will stay also.
Some stock apps might be placed back(Xperia Hot Shots, Wisepilot returned on my LWW).
thanks Someguyfromhell, wil go with it -i think
K, tried the update today - three times. Each time it is downloaded, then the phone restarts, then the bar goes different color towards the right, then restarts, there's an open box then for a while on the screen, then another restart and the phone switches on normally, saying the update couldn't be done.
Any ideas guys?

You might have removed some important files with Titanium...But I am not aware, what file could it be.
Well, I restored anonymous usage and crash monitor - jusr to check, no change. Might try to revert a few more, check again.
Option 2 is probably to go back to wotan for a reflash - I'm guessing.
Is there much prooved improovement in .62 by the way?
Thanks for sticking with me here as well

Memory management is definitely better.
Can't remember more, because it was long ago that I updated firmware, been using custom ROMs.

I'll just have to backup apps and all with titanium and go wotan again.
Not even for rhe .62 alone, but just knowing that something isnt right...
Also the sooner I do it the less to backup and resrore i'll have.
I will make sure to note my steps this time, apps rekoved and all.

I just flashed with wotan again, rooted again, and updated right away. Root stayed, apps restored with Titanium - all work. Took less then an hour.

Boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions. If that doesn't help, download BetterBatteryStats and see if apps are causing kernel wakelocks (not letting your phone go into deep sleep) meaning keeping it awake and using CPU.

Better battery stats for the wakelocks and cpu spy to see if your device is deep sleeping. And if you just flashed something give it a few battery cycles before you judge the battery

Check with other battery, it happen to me and is a hardware problem and not from the ROM or Kernel or calibration... if with another battery is the same, then try to bring it in technical support.
By the way, don't buy a new battery, use a battery from other friend... =)

I dnt think it's a faulty charger/cable coz if dat was faulty den ur phone wouldn't have charged at all try to re flash a stock ftf n see if d problem persists n if it does d somethings really wrong
Also try to compare battery time previously n now even dat can give u better overview of your problem

Before using a custom Rom I was using the stock Rom for a few days and the problem was still there so I flashed a new custom Rom (Experience 2.1) which works great but I'm still having the same battery issue where it doesn't seem to charge 100%, since having the phone which is about 1 week it's charged fully once to 100% and there on after averages about 72% after a full night's charge..

you can try to clear battery stats after charging your battery to 100%, maybe it will help, but my opinion is most xperias have poor battery performance. I tried to do a lot of things but nothing worked.

Well I saw tht your WiFi was On almost continuously... Turn it off when you dont need it... WiFi is one of the main reason for battery drain... And if you can't do it manually then install some battery saving app like juice defender wich will turn off WiFi when not in use...
My phone runs almost 1 day with moderate use of WiFi, tht is turning on only when needed else off... If I keep it on always my phone runs out of battery within 8-10 hrs.

No matter if your phone is in deep sleep or not... If your WiFi is on even in deep sleep it will still drain the battery... So try with WiFi off 1st..
N the thing with battery stats after restarting thing...
Download battery calibration from play store n calibrate it when you r charged 100% that will hopefully solve the stats problem... But battery calibrator needs root.

during deep sleep my wifi is off chek my screenshots that are posted...
ohk ohk ill try batery caliberator and tell u the results
Battery calibration is not needed, it wont do anything - everytime you charge your phone and unplug it android system makes new battery stats.
WiFi is may be drainig cause look at the blue line after WiFi - it doesn let the phone fully sleeps. So try turning it off (android percentage is very high too, may because of WiFi)

Well that happened coz before there were some apps running in the background so it gave you backup of 16hrs but after the reboot those apps were killed n maybe you didn't open those certain apps after reboot and thts how u got more backup...
So do one thing, download 'auto memory manger ' from play store, its red color icon with tools On it... It kills all the unnecessary apps running in the background draining your battery... On the first start it will guide you through On how to set it up according to your needs.. Try it... Works gud.

From the screenshots, I noticed that your cell phone wasn't receiving signals throughout the deep sleep mode. If the phone isn't receiving signals, or is receiving low signals (1 bar), the phone automatically puts more battery juice into the radio transceiver to catch better reception.
Its possible that your phone has been expending its battery throughout the night to catch better reception - try putting it in a better place with more reception during the night, or in Airplane mode in case reception during the night isn't vital/important for you.
