Random reboot issues - Motorola Droid RAZR

Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app

So I went into recovery and wiped the system partition cache, this was one of the options I've been looking for I hope this works and I'm not setting my self up for disappointment again every time I try something new I think I might have it but I got a good feeling about this one this time or am I crazy ?.

I think this is the reason...

Think what is the reason ? I said it's not low on RAM .
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app

I think when ram usage rising up to % 85 maybe device shutting itself.
I thought thst because when i trying a rom, i was having same issue. When device laggy i was checkink ram usage and see high usage and than device freezes.
That could be...
That s my opinion, not a technical info
Sent from my GT-N8005 using xda app-developers app

I know a device gets laggy when it's low on ram but I said it wasn't so I think you need to review my reply,
My belief is that it's got some sort of system data issues and I've been trying to give it a clean wipe but Motorola doesn't seem to have the proper options for this like Sony does I've so far gone into recover factory reset and wiped all user data and system partition cache and re-flashed the firmware if there's not much more I can do then it may be the hardware and if so at least I have a hole new motherboard to throw in it but it's from the GSM version and only runs ICS not sure if it will let me flash JB on it and probably not.

Hi!
I had the same issue and I agree that's because the low RAM available.
I have tried the Greenefy app from the play store and the problem was solve... More or less, it happens that when I'm doing a heavy use of the phone, he colapse and make a reboot (not all the time).
Regards.

It is weird,
I have been using Bmm instead of Safestrap for 1 month. Until this time, I have never seen reboot issue.
(Maybe rom i have beem using good)
I am not sure, but it could be
Sent from my XT910 using xda app-developers app

Ok but when I check the ram usage it's usually around 50% which is pretty normal and that's close to what you get out the box since the system uses up most of it I remember the last update on Gingerbread fixed the issues I was having with it at the time could there be a problem with the T map processor that Moto chose to go with over the typical Qualcomm processor who knows but I bet it would run awesome on Kat Kat.

I usually get over 300 mb. I use Mean ROM though, that plays a factor in how much free RAM I am getting.
I normally have over 250mb free..which is perfectly fine with me except....the phone was advertised to hold 1gb of ram..I did not expect sense to take up almost have of it.

Android phones are not the same as your PC.
How much memory you have available isnt significant.
Yea im running mean rom too. And ram is significant sometimes my app shuts down and i hate to restart it.

I always use the phone..but if I kill all apps using task manager , I get up to 400 mb free. Then random services begin on their own and memory begins to bog down a bit.
Again, memory or lag isn't a prob for me. Just would love to use the full ram

Linux based systems don't work the same way as windows based systems. Available RAM is not very important. I would advise not using a task manager or service killing application. Instead... Use the home button to exit an application that you intend to use again soon and the back button to exit an application that you are finished with. Allow android to handle RAM by itself.

Actually they work highly similarly, since Vista. Both OSes use large amounts of RAM for cache, since there is literally zero reason not to. There's no performance impact. In fact, it's usually worse if you try to maintain a high level of free RAM, since it means no caching (slower app loading).

[INFO] Motorola Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX ICS Bug Fix To Be Ready in September?

According to the site’s sources, the long-awaited ICS bug fix for the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX may not be ready until September. That’s about a month after the original mid-August target, and if you’re counting the days with us, it is currently mid-August
http://easternmorningherald.com/motorola-droid-razr-droid-razr-maxx-ics-bug-fix-to-be-ready-in-september/1214804/
I don't have the problems they indicate. All about an update to improve what is already good.

Very interesting as I have 2 phones that out of the blue can't keep any signal and drop sometimes for an hour and then are fine. I tried a new similar and various other things. Wonder if that will fix issues I am having.
Seems strange we've only seen a handful of leaks.

i hope they keep to their word ics is really buggy on the razr
I have to turn my phone off and on at least every other day otherwise it will go through a bunch off apps like a slide show. Or if I'm texting it will enter a bunch of random characters on its own. It's like the screen is stuck until I reset it. Sometimes the screen doesn't respond at all.

ICS and My Razr
I have zero problems with Stock Razr Maxx 4.0.4 Rooted + some minor tweaks to the CPU, FS, and dual boot using boot manager.
Days without rebooting, unless I am messing with it in recovery, battery life is strong, and no dropped calls etc....
The only update I really need is something that makes the camera work better, picture quality is awful. Third party cams do not seem to solve the problem. Someone mentioned a thread that modifies JPEG compression, I was going to look for that today.
I haven't had one problem with my phone since the update, did you all backup your data and do a cache/ factory wipe before the updating? That's what I've always done. Even my old iphones had problems if i did a major update without wiping.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Lately I have had signal loss.
Not update related. I moved and am in this dead zone. Walk outside the house and signal is like a rock.
+1 on full wipe.
Though smart actions does an annoying glitch but that is something with the app itself or its interaction with data switching on and off.

RAM Booster App

Been using the RAM booster app for a day now cause of noticing I was only having average of 180MB of RAM at any given time, and it has seemed to work so far, says it clears about 250mb leaving me with a solid 350-400mb open and the phone feels quicker than new...has anyone else had this experience with this app or any like it??

I find Greenify for apps and Qualcomm Battery Guru the two best for the Razr HD (Maxx) or any Qualcomm processor phone.
Juice Defender Ultimate is very amazing as well. Works great on my Transformer and non Qualcomm Samsung.

Help me to understand the problem

Hi,
I have been using padawan v9 from so long and never had any issue. Today, my phone is reeboting often and really hot. Anyone has any idea why? problem started when i was using firefox browser. Thankyou wonderful people
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Well I find heat comes from under the camera on the back after heavy data usage, so that's normal for me.
Reboots might be from heavy usage from browser causing overwhelming processor usage forcing the phone to reboot. I get it sometimes from my YouTube app.
Anyway, I don't think that there are any real issues in my opinion, just a few day to day problems.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Seems like working good again. Don' t want to change this rom. Probably the browser might have done it. Thanks

Laggy ?

Hey guys so I just upgraded to the s4 and for some reason it seems laggy and slow . Now I did install safe strap root and flashed hyper and jelly but there was a lag feeling to it compared to my note 2. Titanium takes longer to restore same number if apps and even adding a gmail account its has some lag. So I went back to stock rooted to try this. Anyone else have this happen? I thought the s4 would be faster than n2.

I have gotten as high as 29000 something or other without overclocking the CPU. I think I was on Hyperdrive. I'd think vanir would smoke. That is one fast rom. Just did a run of that benchmark on eclipse 2.0. I have very modified kernel settings. Aimed @ a mix of battery and performance and scored 26500. Underclocked CPU.

Officially? No, it'll be locked down like any other release. After that? Who knows, we'll just have to wait to see if someone will be able to do it.
What kind of lag are you experiencing exactly? Mine used to stutter a lot more than it does now... here's what I did to fix mine:
1) Freeze/uninstall all bloat of course
2) In Dev options change all window animations to .5 (or off if you want)
3) Turn off Lock Screen animations (water drop/light effect) <--- this made the biggest difference oddly
4) Install Nova launcher and don't use too many home screen widgets
5) (Optional) I use a program called Clean Master which will clean up junk files and cache for you
My S4 still isn't completely lag free, it does still stutter from time to time during heavy multitasking but I think that's just the nature of a heavy skin like Touchwiz running in the background. Unfortunately I have ME7 so comparing it to AOSP is out of the question right now (I don't really want to run Safe Strap at the moment).
There are also other things I haven't tried like Greenify-ing apps and whatnot, but for now I'm happy with how it's acting.
Opening apps up and unlocking phone was laggu for me. I'll try what you suggested. I'm hoping I can either trade my phone for a mdk version or 4.3 becomes unlockable

I'm not sure. I doubt it. I have been hopeful that a dev is sitting on an exploit waiting until the 4.3 update to release it so there is not a opportunity to patch it. But as far as I know right now there is no exploit for the me7 boot loader and no prospects on the horizon.

Usually that is related to WiFi location being checked in location settings. Uncheck it and the usage will go down.

My wife has a S3 and I also had one before I upgraded to the S4. Initially this phone felt slower to me too but after rooting and installing a stock debloated rom it seems plenty fast. I rarely notice any lag at all....maybe after about 10 days without rebooting. My wifes S3 is SLOW as heck now which is really strange. I tried factory resetting it and last weekend flashed it in Odin...still slow.....her phone is insanely slow compared to mine.

Yeah, maybe my expectations were too high. I was running bonestock and it was the smoothest experience I had. But, the occasional home button lag, super slow dialer, and choppy performance during some game play and scrolling made the overall experience disappointing.

I know it's fun to bash Touchwiz but I think a lot of lag issues still hide under Android itself... I'm hoping to see good results with the TRIM feature in 4.4 (not sure if it's in 4.3?) to totally get rid of lag across all Androids.
I completely agree with you though, Touchwiz is bloated and heavy and I prefer stock Android over all others.
