[Q] Battlefield 4 commander app - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hey guys!
Can anyone confirm if the Battlefield 4 commander app works on a rooted 7" Kindle Fire HDX?
Would really like to know, as I wouldn't purchase it otherwise

Really no one who can answer this question? Doesn't take much to download the app and try it out (if you have BF4 on any platform)

Why would you base your whole tablet buying decision on a game that will be old news in 1 year?
It doesn't work. I tried it. Needs some google stuff which is missing since this has been customised by Amazon.

Yes its working with a rooted HDX 7, i tested it.
You can use this .apk + data:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47736747

Can also confirm for you the BF4 Commander Mode app works. I know you posted a couple weeks ago but it's as DarkRusher posted, follow the link and go to the latest pages, newest APK and Data for Commander Mode app will be there and you're good to go!
Using a rooted 7" HDX but shouldn't need root at all. Was playing the app on the 1.1 version and worked perfectly on the HDX as well before an update for the app was pushed. It's honestly an addicting app and runs smooth on the device!
Edit: Also don't forget you'll have to download the Battlelog app from another Android device, back it up into an APK and sideload it to the HDX, at leas that's what I did off my non rooted HTC ONE X. The Commander Mode app requires Battlelog app.

This tablet will also be old news in one year. Almost all apps run on this tablet once you get framework and services working.

That's irrelevant. You wouldnt let your tablet dictate what console or PC games you buy?
A kindle will last a lot longer than a yearly franchised game.

Actually battlefield still has quite a following so you can get 3 or so years from an online game. And certainly you want all your devices to compliment each other so yes if my budget were tight I would look for which tablet would window my Xbox or PlayStation or vice versa. In my case though a tablet is lucky to go 6 months much less a year, but most people in my area exchange tablets at least every year as well as phone upgrades every year as well.

Old news playing a 3 year old game surely. Anyway this is going offtopic. The question has been answered.

Yes, it's working on mine no issues.

10cent app sale :D (Updated for December 12th)

I noticed the 10cent app sale and figured this is great for pre-buying (on the cheap) apps to use on the Prime! New deals every day, what do you guys think is worth pre-buying with the Prime in mind?
I'll be updating the apps as soon as I have a chance (which should be before the actual Market page goes up) every day. Some of the apps aren't as obvious, so if I'm missing something let me know what it is! The apps in bold are the ones that should be decent on the Prime IMO. Mostly this thread is to let people know what's on special before their page updates without having to hunt down the deals! Enjoy!
In case you are wondering, apps are linked to you Google account, not your device, so you can easily download (IF the app is compatible on the Prime, and with ICS coming out soon most apps should be) these to your Prime once you get it!

The picture of the sale on the App Market has Fruit Ninja, Tetris, ect, all apps that are NOT included in today's deal. My guess is that they eventually will be, thus we get 10 new apps every day! Jump on these while they're hot!

You're the (assuming) man.
But your date format is backwards, eh?
So I have the Prime preordered. My current phone is incompatible with Asphalt 6 (got the rest though!). Is there anyway that I can bypass the incompatibility notice and buy it first until I get my hands on the Transformer Prime?
How do I purchase Asphalt 6 when it is not supported on the Transformer?
For $0.10 I would like to buy it in case they ever support the transformer.
Thanks for the tip..just downloaded, sketchbook, asphalt 6 and field runners..all for.30€ lol
So I ordered a bunch of these for my Evo. I don't suppose they will transfer to my Prime when it finally arrives will they?
Thx for the link either way.

I did the same exact thing
i bought a few as well, i'm glad now i haven't cleaned out any reference to the various android tablets/phones i've owned over the years, i'm fairly confident one of the 9 devices in my account will be compatible with the apps they put on sale
I noticed these apps are also 10 cents in the Amazon Appstore. I assume we can install the Amazon Appstore on the Transformer?

i don't see why not, it's worked on every other HC tablet i've owned.
Amazon App Store works on any tablet.
A few ways of downloading the apps you buy today on your tab:
-Open the Android Market page on a computer browser, sign in, find all the apps you have installed. Click on them and you can install on any device you know (app will start to download magically on your device)
-Otherwise, find the apps on the market on the tablet itself, and, provided you are using the same google account, install. This takes a bit longer.
There might be a chance some apps are NOT compatible with the tablet... in that case the market will not let you download them.
The only thing you can do in this caseis save the APK from the phone and put it on the tablet to install....

How can I download them if the Prime is going to be my first Android product? I can't send it to a device
It seems some other apps are showing up as 0.10 EUR as well, including the absolutely amazing Star Chart. I also noticed things like Fruit Ninja and this read later applications pro version. I suppose they will show up as todays orders at some point.

Hi all, first post and need help!

Hi all,
I was hoping someone could offer some advice.
I am due to be working away from home for half the month and at the moment my set up at home consists of a beast of a gaming rig. I don't want to fork out for an expensive gaming laptop and thought the prime might be a good option for me.
So a few questions...
1. How do the remote desktop applications fare on the prime? Essentially I would need to use the prime to wake up my pc at home, control torrent downloads and maybe play a game with low graphic demands like football manager (i'm not expecting BF3 or other FPS...could an MMO work via remote desktop? like TOR?)
2. With regards to the "cloud storage" do you get 2gb with the transformer prime? if so can this also be accessed via a pc at home? So I could for example...
Remotely download a movie.
Put the movie file onto the cloud storage.
Access the movie file from my prime so that I can watch it in an area without wifi.
3. Is there a way to add a 3g dongle to the prime?
4. I am due a phone upgrade in March. I currently have a HTC desire which has stood the test of time for it's 2 year contract. Money is a little tight so I was considering getting my phone upgrade and sticking it on ebay to cover most of the prime's cost. I figure I only need a phone for calls and the built in sat nav and the prime can do the rest. also my HTC desire can only get me £75 from mobile recycling places.
5. As I have to wait until March is there a tablet I have overlooked which will be released in March that would be superior to this...basically if i am waiting until March should I hold out for something else?
Thanks in advance for the replies everyone!

1 the preloaded software only works when the laptop is already in but it is smooth enough to play something simple
2 yes download movie in PC upload top cloud storage them you can watch it without wifi our already some services allow that
3 no 3g dongle it's a wifi tablet
4 get the nexus a you can find them cheap and feet ics on them
5 tablets well be the same by March all quad core all same resolution that's my view anyway all you can do its wait and pick on personal opinion

I use Teamviewer, it runs the computer just like I was in front of it, never tried major gaming on it though. I don't think it would work well since most of the login apps out there decrease colors and other things to enhance performance.
2. With regards to the "cloud storage" do you get 2gb with the transformer prime? if so can this also be accessed via a pc at home? So I could for example...
You get 8 gb, and yes you can access/sync it from any computer. I use it to sync my work, Prime, and home computer files

In order to do that it will have to be downloaded first to your prime, but it can be done.

right now it really is a waiting game to see what other tablets come out by then, if any. Probably the Ipad3 will be out, and I would guess 1-2 more Tegra 3 tabs, but they may hit production delays just like the prime did, no one really knows, right now it is a crap shoot. The great part is this tab is going to be competitive with anything that comes out next year for the most part.
Thanks in advance for the replies everyone!

Ok, my msg is too short....
You can control your PC over the internet using TeamViewer. No, you won't be able to play an MMO or do other major gaming on it. I guarantee you that TOR will be a slideshow, you'll be able to gather nodes (if you log near them) and manage Crew Missions but that's about it.
If you are running Windows7 you will need to use a Magic Packet to wake your PC to manage torrents, etc. I believe there is also an Android app that will remotely manage Mircotorrent (aka uTorrent) remotely without requiring you to manage your PC.
You can share your files via DropBox (or similar) as long as you are mindful of the 2GB limit.
No better tablet has been announced for March release yet, and if it were (given the industry standard of badly slipped release dates) I wouldn't count on it. Now if one had been announced with a January release....
You can remote in using Splashtop HD to remote in. It transmits both video and audio. Just have to install remote viewer software on the pc.

In relation to the 3g single question, Asus feel that as android phones can tether then peeople would just tether to their prime. Obviously they are assuming that everyone with a prime will already have a smart phone with tethering available, this is a stretch.

wow some fantastic comments thank you all.
I think there has to be a limit to expectation here. I'm not expecting the remote desktop to run things perfectly but it won't be it's primary function otherwise I'd just get a laptop.
So £500 then...I wonder if carphonewarehouse would do a deal if you buy a contract from them.
splashtop HD or built in splashtop in mycloud in mydesktop should work fine for video or gaming. just make sure to load reviewer on to PC. pretty simple setup. load reviewer on PC. load on tablet. enter names and passwords on both devices and your good to go.
another thing to look at for gaming is OnLive. its out for Android. allows you to play PC/console/Indie games through the cloud on OnLive servers. response time is fastest out there and basically no lag. feels just as if you natively playing the game. there are some great games up there like PC/Nvidia optimized Batman Arkham City, Homefront fps, Metro 2033, unreal tournament(PC version), etc.. the games look and play great on the prime. no loss in quality basically. the app is free from marketplace. free to make an account. you get to play all the games with a free 30 min. trial period. you can flat out buy the game but best seems to be the bundle package. for $9.99 a month you have unlimited access to 100's of top notch PC/console games. I was playing Darksiders, through OnLive, on my prime. no lag at all, graphics looked sick. definitely a cool experience and great deal considering the caliber and number of games they have up there.

NICE! I never needed a reason for onlive...I'll have to check it out.

why are so many games marked incompatible

Is it just me or does it seem like half the fricking games in the market marked incompatible?!??!
Even stuff like bejwelled....
a lot of the time I can get the app via my phone, backup the apk and manually sideload it and it works fine. But this is not a permanent fix....
Is this sony being lazy, google being lazy, app devs being lazy, or something else?
Without root I'm guessing there's no fix?!??!
The worst bit is that this 'block' isn't consistent: an app may be blocked in the web market, and doesn't come up when searching from tablet, but say I hit an ad in the marketplace or tegrazone and BAM it lets me install. WHAT THE ?!?!?!?!
Sometimes I think that Sony has something to do with that.. but I hope thats only my conspiracy mind playing tricks on me..
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using Tapatalk
I have a sneaking feeling its app devs who have to mark their apps as compatible or incompatible and since this tablet doesn't have a big presence, it falls through their cracks...
I've seen several games where say the Lite version is marked available but the full version IS NOT (i.e. Siegecraft THD). Of course the full version runs fine if you sideload it... ROFL
Yes it's definitely the app publishers who declare compatibility and I just don't think the tablet s has made a big enough splash. It sucks cause like you said you can sideload the apps. I'm sure once we get ICS things will change...
I gotta say i'm pretty steamed. I specifically got a tegra 2 device to maximize gaming compatibility, now the only "hardcore" games showing are shadowgun, GTA3 and Asphalt 6. No nova, mc2, mc3 etc etc. Not very happy at this point.
The weird part is, a simple realestate app won't show in the market on it :\.
I wish there was some way to just force the market to show all apps, like in cyanogen mod. Just without the need for root since we don't have that yet
It has a LOT to do with fragmentation in Android, with all the different versions on all the different devices, a developer has to test and be 100% sure before it marks its app as "compatible." Try contacting the developer if you want help, unfortunately it's nothing SONY has done.
You dont understand problem.
Some time ago we could buy apps:for example, Dead Space.
But suddenly Android Market said:you couldnt buy this app because it incompatible with your Sony Tablet S.
Can somebody tell me if bang bang racing shows up in the market?
Update, factory reserve fixed it, most apps are good to go. Dread , I would give that a shot.
Don't get mad at Sony for gameloft games being incompatible, that's game loft's fault

I do understand problem. What's happening is that Gameloft is updating their game and changing which versions/iterations of Android their game is compatible with, and with the thousand of different variations of Android coming out every day, they have either changed or our software version has changed and they're no longer compatible. As many have said, ICS will fix A LOT of that. You can try a master reset, but other than that just wait for ICS or sideload it from a dropped apk.
Thank you for answer)
I have one question:why EA games(Real Racing 2 and Dead Space) doesnt support sony tablet s?
It's not that they don't support the tablet s, it's just that they're not specifically listed as compatible with either the tablet s or the version of android we're running (maybe sony's update to 3.1.2 or whatever it was) isn't listed under their market description so it won't allow you to install it from the market. There are ways around that but you won't be able to get updates or support through the market. I'm waiting for ICS (hopefully Feb) and most, if not all, of these problems should be resolved!

This. I personally just use my gingerbread running Droid charge to buy things that aren't compatible yet. Popular apps will get more compatibility as ICS penetration grows
Unfortunately, I have a couple other Android devices - says it's incompatible with all.
I have 3 android devices
prime-not suported
xperia active- not supported
xperia mini-supported
Now we have to wait for prime support
Supported and runs well on my Samsung Galaxy S2 which is on CM9. It seems ICS is supported fine so I wonder what the problem is.
Works well on my SGS2 running latest leaked build of ICS as well. Tried pulling the APK and installing it on my Prime, but I get a not compatible with device when I try to open it. So we just have to wait until Gameloft decides to support it.
Bought it via my Sensation.... cheers! Here's to a .49 cent investment into the future!
Oh come on Gameloft.. How hard can it be to make it available on the Prime. I've got the impression they dont want my money^^ Its as if they're telling me to use other methods than buying...

On the web android market, there is also a compatibility check.
Or do you mean something else?
I've downloaded quite a few apps that aren't supposed to be comparable with prime yet not had even the slightest glitch yet, shame i guess people gave already tried with this with no luck

I'm not a Prime member so I might be missing something here, but doesn't the stock Galaxy Note 8 have Android 4.1?

Might inquire in the Galaxy Note 8 forum too--if you haven't already:

If the Note is rooted, there seems to be a few 4.2 ROMs that might be suitable too... FYI.

The answer is 'yes', and I found the solution by Googling on the first shot. I would normally share the find but the snarky attitude isn't much motivation to help.

I'm sorry but this isn't my question.
My question is is there a workaround on how to access Amazon Prime Video on an Android tablet?[/QUOTE
From what I understand only approved devices hy amazon work. I am not aware of anyone successfully running prime video on a standard android device. I wish we could... http://www.amazon.com/gp/video/ontv/devices.

Wish no more, it could be done. Verified the workaround on all my Android devices from Gingerbread to KitKat; viewing Amazon Instant Videos works just fine.

Really? There is NO way to watch HD Amazon content on any KitKat device. KitKat uses the Chomium webkit, so It ain't happening period. Now, you can use a browser that utilizes server-side rendering, but again, you are getting a compressed stream, NOT HD & a less than stellar bitrate at that.
The Note 8.0 released with 4.1, but has since been updated 4.2.2. It may still work using the flash apk (which Amazon tends to break from time to time with every DRM update), but you are still in the wrong forum OP.

Used to be true, but outdated info now. Works on my Nexus 7 (2012) with 4.4.2, and it's not via HTML5.

I'm just wondering how come a company such as Amazon who builds/sells Kindle Fire tablets which are essentially Android tablets albeit forked versions (but still Android by heart) that they don't support other Android tablets in terms of an Amazon Prime Instant Video Android app.
The only workaround i see is watching it on my PS3 (which i can't carry on a train or bus when i'm travelling or when i'm on a holiday on a beach somehwere) or buy an iPad (which for me is not anymore viable as an Android tablet does all jobs for me) or a get a Kindle Fire tablet (which i've sold due to lack of apps albeit third-party stores) or email Amazon and wait till they realize that they need to create such an app.
Just bloody ridi:silly:cks!

get the amazon app via the amazon app shop (not from the playstore!) and just try. As i see it, there are now some devices working ok with it, and others are not working. This is the last thing i know. BTW i have an K-R42 (Android TV box) and its NOT working there. i dont know why. Is there anybody not as clueless as we are?!
thank you =)
Amazon Prime Instant Video working on Chinese Tablet
Had a lot of fiddling about to get this working on my Chinese Tablet running 4.4.2 . . .
Teleread had the answer, so I am posting here and hopefully it will help others. The main bit didn't work, but scroll down the page to the posts from users and review the help given by CHRIS on September 17. It was HARD to get my tablet to download the Android Phone app (rather than the default TABLET app) as Google Playstore refused to show the phone app to me. I did a google search and found a link to the app that didn't use either google or amazon. Now I am watching Amazon Prime Videop on my Chinese ONDA iPad look-alike.
HOW TO
and the work-around to get it to work

It was painful but I got it to work on 3 devices – a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (7.0) and an HTC Evo 4G LTE. Not intuitive would be an understatement! Here is what I did on each device in the order I did them.
1. Download and install the Amazon Appstore APK using link above.
2. Download and install the Instant Video (AIV) APK from the Amazon Appstore.
–At this point I got a runaround where the AIV app would direct me to a website which asked for my email which sent me a link to that same website. Frustrating. Turns out the AIV app runs through the Amazon shopping app – for PHONES – and you have to have the most updated version from the Google Play store.–
3. Download and/or update and install the Amazon shopping app from the Google Play store, PHONE VERSION (the tablet version I have on my Tab3 does NOT work but the phone one does).
4. Opened the Amazon shopping app from Google Play and signed in.
5. Opened the AIV app from the Amazon apps store and bingo!
Playback works well on 2/3 of my devices. It is super fuzzy on my HTC Evo 4G LTE but that is still running 4.1, my other two devices have KitKat and it works great.
Once it’s installed it’s nice but a pain in the ass to get up and running. Why Amazon? Why not just make a nice app for the Google Play store like everybody else? With their very nice Roku and iPad apps this antipathy to Android confuses me.
