[Q] I got my Z Ultra's android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 OTA package - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hey guys,last night my Z Ultra got this:

yes 14.2.A.0.290 is 4.3, anyone else also got this notification ?

I think it's a leak. Seen this happening on note and s4. Test ota.

Thanks for posting! Does anyone have any idea if we can use this .bin file to flash manually somehow, similar to adb sideload?

All person from Sony currently running this firmware directly for testing so I don't think it's a leak...may be by mistake they rolled it trolled themeselves

I found this thread over at the XZ section from july. A guy got an OTA update (.bin). Interesting stuff.

Im opened file download_package.bin in Hex and see CDA 1276-0361 r7a (new zeland). But new zeland dont have update. sory for my english

It's most likely a dev build (i.e beta), so people in general won't get it.

Are you sure the bin file was the full download?
I'm downloading it now. Can you give me exact location from where you pulled it and name of the bin file?

I've arrived late to the party... was away for a few days. So I saw that the NZ revision is released??
My unit should be arriving shortly from repair, so will be able to OTA if thats the case.
As of today, has anyone updated? if so extracted the FTF?

i'll check when I'm able. NZ is part of asia, but its strange because the Ultra isn't retailing over here. Perhaps it is a leak direct from Sony in a controlled environment.

I have no idea if this'll work, but here you go.
Have a backup ready in case it doesn't.
Put download_package.bin in /cache/recovery/fota
Run /system/bin/fota-trigger (as root?)
In case it doesn't work, try creating the file /cache/recovery/fota/triggerfota
Reboot.
I'm not sure if this'll work, but from snooping around on my Z1, this seems to be how OTAs work.
