[Bounty]-Semaphore kernel/app on G2(D802 for now) - G2 General

Hey guys,
**Please for now just donate who have the D802 version,if we reach the amount needed, then he will see with the device in his hand if he can add support to other variants**
Our G2 dont have a lot of kernels options, and lately i see a lot of people asking for more developing,so i spoke with stratosk and his more than interested in developing to G2 but he can't afford the device.
He will develop a stock kernel + integration with sempahore app(free),about CM support he is not sure if will be.It depends on the changes they made in the kernel. If it's a totally new branch, he will not develop for CM.
The device (D802) in greece cost 555$ so maybe if we all donate smalls amount we can give him a device and bring one more kernel developer to G2.
*About stratosk:
-Stratosk is a recognized developer on XDA
-Developed awesome kernels to popular devices like Galaxy S1 and Nexus 4
-He has more then 25k thanks
-Semaphore app has more then 50000+ download on play store
I think thats better that we just donate if we reach the necessary amount, but if/when we reach please everyone who promised an amount donate!!!!

I've never heard of this cat, but I checked out the N4 forum and there's a ton of activity on his thread. Do you know what variants he plans to support?

He wants to develop to other versions but he can't say until he see the differences.

I'll throw $20 down if he confirms vs980 support.

First of all I would like to thank zevim2005 for this thread. Thank you very much!
@mickskillz
Thank you very much for your intention. But I really can't confirm that I can release a kernel without having the device to test.
I really don't know the differences between the devices, so I can't promise anything about this variation.

Can't you go and look at the different device trees prior to commiting kernels updates to see whats what? We already have a pretty good kernel thread that supports CM11 and Stock across all of the variants.
I would suspect that you should do your homework about which devices you plan to support (all, some, one, none) and get back to us. I'd love to throw down some cash for the VS980 Verizon variant but not if you don't plan on supporting it. I just think people would be more inclined to donate if we had more information.
I'll pledge $20 if you can promise VS980 support.

I agree... I understand where you are coming from, but I've donated enough in the past for no reason. I like to support our DEVS, specifically the ones that support my device. If you are able to sort thru some of the commits or check what wootever has done for our kernel, maybe you can get a better ideal if you are capable of supporting the verizon variant. Thanks and I hope we can raise enough to get this going.

There is no homework for me to do, my friend.
As it is mentioned in OP, this is for D802. I can't be sure for all variants. This is clear from my side. Please DO NOT participate for other variants.
zevim2005 had this idea and I appreciate this.
I feel very uncomfortable talking about donations and this bounty.
This is maybe my last post in the thread. If someone knows me (or my work) and wants to contribute I will be grateful.
I don't promise that I will make the device fly like a rocket or that the new kernel will solve all your problems.
I promise Semaphore kernel and Semaphore Manager app for G2 (D802 variant). Nothing more nothing less.
Thanks everybody for your time.

Thank you, stratosk its not like developers that do their work and when you ask for something else they don't even listen, believe me if will have the option to support other version and he will have time for that,he will do that!

I'd be happy to see such a famous dev working for our G2.
I'll chip in 15$.

Lets get sbrissen a Galaxy Note 2! **CROSS POST**

This is a continuation thread for the one listed in Sprint Galaxy Note II General http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34775732#post34775732
I am posting this here also because we are donating to him so he can get a Verizon Galaxy Note II. So, if you want to chip in and help, since he will be developing for you guys also, feel free to donate here. Thanks.
We are at $284 already thanks to all the donations from Sprint GN2 users. You Verizon people need to step it up He will be bringing you guys AOSP also. Don't be leeches... lol.

Hey man, give us a little time. Some of us are still a little shell shocked. Remember, we just got charged for our devices
Not saying his work isn't needed but been following these "lets get this guy a phone thread" and some have put a rom out.others just got a phone. Some made an awesome rom, then stopped and moved on.. just my 2 cents... but hey hope you get what you need.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I've also seen my fare share of donations gone bad, so I can understand the skepticism. However, if you were to look at sbrissen's body of work you'll see that he still supports aosp on the fascinate. That should speak to his longevity to a device. Not to mention if sprint users are willing to donate to get a Verizon phone to a dev, it should speak to their work.
Please don't assume I'm trolling here. Just wanted to at least suggest that this dev won't disappear if he gets this device on your network. Figured the more devs the merrier. Carry on; enjoy this awesome GN2.

Make an app for the nexus q that adds chromecast support

I THINK THIS IS THE IDEA OF ADDING THE SDK SO DEVS CAN BUILD THE Q INTO A POWERHOUSE WITH 4.3 LOL

i agree, i'd be interested as well. i'm actually looking into how the chromecast works right now, doing a rom would be an interesting idea. for the next 2 months i'm away from my Q, but maybe until then the google tv developers have a better understanding of how the chromecast works. the easiest and most optimal version obviously would be to have an apk that could just be installed and run on the Q, since apparently the chromecast is android based (stripped down though).
I don't really have the time to, but someone should start one of those android bounty type drives and advertise it to the community/ news sites.
I would be willing to play $50 to kickstart the bounty pool for anyone who can bring chromecast support to the Q, and restore it to its former glory.
I think the biggest thing to make people hesitant is the possibility of google doing it and making all the work useless.

I don't see that happening at all. Google could care less about the Q and even if it's only matter of an hours work for them it's not worth it. The only people having the Q got it for free.
The way I see it, this has to be done by the community. Lots of developers has the Q, hell cyanogen even has a rom for it. I bet getting the Q to chromecast is much less work than making a rom for it.

My bounty comment stands either way, I say we should make a real thing of it.
I'm sure some developer would see it as a simple weekend project and pump it out if there was a cash incentive.

I'll donate to anyone who figures out and posts instructions and files for me to turn my Nexus Q into a much more stylish Chromecast.
i'll just quickly leave this here for reference: https://developers.google.com/cast/
it seems though that it's necessary to inspect a chromecast (or at least the binaries for it) to get a better understanding of how it works.
edit: http://www.reddit.com/r/chromecast might also be a good source for information.
can we get someone to create a thread and keep a tally of users and donation amounts?
then we can maybe pass that to the android news outlets / social media to garner some attention to it?
I stick by my previously stated $50.

[BOUNTY AT&T][LG G2] sbreen94 Hyperdrive ROM Dev-Support Needed *UPDATED 9/25*

*UPDATE 9/25*
Ok guys, sbreen94 spent some of his precious time and blindly built a ROM for the AT&T G2 in hopes to give you guys a taste of what would be to come. We had some trouble getting it to boot, so he is going to stop for now since he has other development projects that he can spend his time on.
The only true way for him to work his magic would be to get a device into his hands. As of now we only have CleanROM. That's great for a stock, debloated experience and it definitely serves a purpose. But if you want an experience with a tons more customization, then Hyperdrive will be a great addition to our dev community.
I have added some pics to the OP of the tweaks and customizations from his S4 that you could eventually expect here.
Please let me know if you are interested and how much you would like to donate!
*UPDATE*
With the recent developments today of obtaining Loki and TWRP, we are a full go for ROM development and flashing. Hopefully this bounty catches steam because Scott would be the perfect dev to get us our first super tweaked and customized ROM. Let's do this!
-----------------------------------------
Hey guys, I promised my good buddy Scott (sbreen94), the dev from the infamous Hyperdrive series of ROM's that I would make a bounty thread for him to try and get a G2 in his hands. For those of you not familiar with him, here is his XDA profile link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4600715
I will quickly start off about why I am doing this. Before I moved to AT&T about two months ago, I was on Verizon and had a S4. The phone was a lagfest and sbreen94's ROM, Hyperdrive, was the only ROM that eliminated the lag on the S4. Between launcher tweaks, build.prop tweaks, etc, he was able to make that phone fly. Not only that, he adds a crazy amount of customization options. His ROM was absolutely second to none on the Verizon S4. I will 100% vouch for the quality of his ROM's and I think he would be an enormous asset to the G2 community. He is a great guy and is always willing to help. When I came to AT&T, I had a S4 for the first two months before I got my G2 last week. Scott and I were testing his ROM to try and port it to AT&T. He spent countless hours sending me test ROM's and AT&T packs. We were super close right before I got the G2.
My goal is to get an AT&T G2 in his hands and I am asking for support here in this thread. I am looking to raise $600 for Scott to get his awesome ROM on this device. And look, I totally understand that the bootloader is in question, as well as custom recovery. I am obviously asking for no money up front and if custom ROM's don't look very promising, then you can definitely go back on your pledge. All I ask is that if you are interested, please make a pledge in this thread and I will keep the tally. If and when we reach $600, you guys can send your pledge to Scott via his PayPal ([email protected]). I am in for the first $50, but I will definitely go up from there if there is a lot of interest and we get close enough to the $600.
To look at examples of his excellent work, here are links to 3 of his ROM's:
S4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301724
S3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106830
Note 10.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294477
Thanks everyone for your time, and let's get this man a G2 to get a killer ROM on our shiny new devices! Please feel free to ask me any questions as I am in frequent contact with Scott. :good:

Let me chime in real quick. I am very familiar with sbreens hyperdrive ROM. I've had it on my gs3 and my fiances note 10.1. It has all the customizations anyone can ask for and it is incredibly smooth so... When I get paid I will pledge because other than the M.O.A.R ROM hyperdrive is thee most customizable rom you can get and I can understand why this bounty is brought about. Look this guy up he is an elite developer. Yes he is one of the top 5 developers in the past year. Look him up. Good idea OP
Will he be porting this over to VZN G2?
Well frankly speaking, I develop ROM for lg devices only & i'm quiet familiar with their frameworks..
I dont mind making a few for the G2
As well. But first we need to get the BL unlocked.
Consider me in for Custom ROMs as well, though I don't have this device.

Edit: OP I just noticed the title of this thread is for the AT&T model, that might hinder funding here. Correct me if im wrong but doesnt Hyperdrive span across all carriers in the aroma installer? Maybe the title should be changed for all carriers? just a thought

[Q] [Pledge] Anyone interested in helping me help Flyhalf205?!?!

Lets help out Flyhalf205 get an HTC One Max so he helps us get some AOSP!!!
I speak to Flyhalf on a regular basis and he's been recently really interested in picking up an HTC One Max finally!!!!!!! He's trying to possibly sell a few devices to gain the funds for the cost and I told him I'd donate to the cause and see if anyone here would be interested in doing the same. I hope this isn't against XDA policy and I looked quickly at the forum rules and didn't see anything in regards to helping a developer out.
Flyhalf would primarily be Verizon as that is his carrier of choice but the way it works is when he sets the device tree up for the t6vzw basically more or less the t6 tree would be up for every variant there is for the One Max.. That means Verizon, Sprint, International, I'd imagine the Chinese dual sim wouldn't be an issue... Let me mention that Flyhalf is a recognized developer and also "Official" maintainer for Cyanogen, Pacman, also supports AOKP.. Anyone coming from a DNA or the original One will know exactly who he is. His work speaks volume!!! He also handles the custom recoveries for multiple devices as well.. If you are here reading this then you are most likely using his work already..
Kernel source is just around the corner and Fly by all means is the "man" and will absolutely be bring us all the AOSP goodness we can handle.. So who is up to help a fellow amazing recognized XDA developer out??
Any donation will not be expected as a prepayment or promise of any sort, a donation is also not an obligation or should it be mandatory to do so. This is just to help bring another developer directly to us for direct support instead of blind development. If you are up to do so I will post "HIS" not mine XDA/Paypal donate link bellow for anyone wanting to and it will go directly to him and when possible he will be picking up the One Max ASAP.....
If you do donate if you can try and post here the donation ID and amount so we can try and keep track of whats what so we know where we stand on helping him out!! Also if you decide that you would like to remain anonymous that's okay as well. I just figured it'd be easy to keep track of things by doing it that way... I'll try and follow through the posts and add everyones name to the OP as well!
Thanks in advance to all and anything contributed would be a huge help.. Anyone wanting more info on Fly you can either Google him or check out his work that's already here on XDA by going to his profile and checking out everything he has posted... The dude is an animal and we can really use him lol!!!!

Lol.... Well since the DNA... I went back to Note 2, then DNA again, then S3 again, then Note 2 again, then S4, then HTC One, than back to S4, HTC One, Moto X, Droid MAXX, Moto X Dev Edition, HTC One, Droid MAXX Dev Edition, Note 3, Maxx Dev edition again, then back to Note 3.... (and I never had 2 phones at once, so it wasn't me just flipping sim card to other old phone)
All of these were me actually selling the phone and buying the next (or re-buying the last). I buy/sell phones when I get bored. I have a problem, haha....
But you know my name from the HTC One most likely.... had the HTCDev unlocked One and tested CM for you back when you were still trying to figure out RIL......and I'm on your GTalk (Hangouts).... haha

Yes I remember you now haha. Good times getting RIL fixed. Easy but annoying fix. Shouldn't have any RIL issues once we get CM here. Setup same way as the m7

I'd assume EXACT same setup, except adding micro-sd support and larger battery stat config, correct? (and fingerprint scanner, but I read its a no-go if you're unlocked, plus its worthless pita anyways lol). Isn't hardware identical other than that?

Can you say scam. 50 plus pages offering the very same file links for 100's of devices. Click to accept offer to continue type links. Just stick to the devs here on the forum.

I don't know if this is legit, but that website is terrible. You have to go through advertising to download the files. And he intentionally split the file into 3 parts so you have to go through more adverts.
Scam!!!

Devs are working hard to build it, but there seems to be issues building it from source and flashing it. Some Quincyatt users tried to flash it when a dev build it, but failed to flash. Be patient . You might have to wait until February or earlier, because other devs that make roms for other phones are already building Lollipop 5.0.2, which is major fixes,

Lol, well devs are working really hard. It isnt easy to build roms from source. It also wasnt easy to build KatKat roms from source for quincy because devs say there always was a problem build roms from source for us . Give it time, it will come..

What kind of proof do we have that we aren't waiting on a ghost?
There is no proof. The original Note is a very aged device now, but very reliable. As reliable as the talent of the developers that exist on XDA. You only have a few choices.
Trust and be patient
Develop yourself
Buy another device.
Don't be so quick to throw the first option away. Sorry, I haven't looked at your stats, but I have been here a while with several devices. One thing I have learned, this device won't die.
Good things come to those who wait. They said the Note wouldn't get JB. They said it wouldn't run KK.

Was using a Note 3 for a while. Awesome device, but because of the locked bootloder and the fact that safestrap is no longer supported, I just went back to the Note. I'll settle for a slower device as long as I have the flexibility to customize it. I have a hard time understanding why OEMs force consumers into using their ROMs.
P.S. - It's Motorola

That's all fine and dandy, I just wish these mystery developers, could at least Identify themselves and make a note (no pun intended) that they do in fact have intention on porting 5.0 to the note, and are in fact at some stage of development (no eta required). I prefer to have this than to having someone, who isn't claiming to be one of these "undercover developers", tell me "yeah someone is probably working on it, and it's probably going to be out in February." for all I know you may be getting your information from talking to a horses butt hole (no flame intended). Even a link to an non-credible noob from some backwater internet forum saying he's in the beginning development stages would be better than "yeah someone is probably working on it, and it's probably going to be out in February."

I'd encourage you to check out the "AT&T Galaxy Note I717 Android Development" and take note of some of the users who have contributed in the past. Those individuals would most likely be building for our device.
Well, I am sorry that I am not your developer in shining armor. Its people like you and your lack of patience which keep developers lurking in the shadows.
No flame intended.
Why don't you try yourself then?

Lol to tell you the truth, I didn't care who or when 5.0 was coming out, I wouldn't have cared up until someone deliberately said:

Which was fine with me, but he DID make it seem like he knew of something going on behind the scenes, so the "proof" I wanted in this case would be a link to some sort of bug report thread or actual development thread. (I wish you could quote me on badgering anyone for a release date LOL) and I voiced this into a reply to the so condescendingly put:
And the Jedi Knight said,

Like we are an angry mob begging you (someone who is not developing for the note, or knows nothing of the matter) for the release date like our lives depend on it.
Ps. I would hardly call what KitKat does on the Note, "running".

Lulz. I've had a great experience with select KK ROMs, particularly Unofficial AOKP and SlimKat. Maybe you just need to know what you're doing. Just passing by to say that and off with you now.
P.S. Thanks devs

Really? I've been running Kit Kat on both of my notes since release! At release there was some bugs, but I'd say sounds like you haven't tried too many distros of it lol! Any newer CM11 runs pretty damn good. And Liquid runs well! I personally found BrokenOS to be practically flawless and I'm running the newest release of Spirit ROM right now and damn its killer! So I'd love to know how you can say Kit Kat is hardly running? LMAO!
