[Q] Which mail app can swipe a message from notification panel to mark it as read ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am searching for a good mail app.
I am receiving many emails from different accounts (approx 6 different accounts) and I would like to have a way to read the emails from the notification panel and mark them as "read" or "delete".
And, in the mail app, the best will be with a consolidated view for unread messages.
I don't want an application that "proxifies" our data (man in the middle; and they have the password of our mailbox).
Which mail app do you use ?
Thank you

Thank you for your answer.
Cloudmagic is quite expensive if I have more than 3 mail accounts; moreover my emails wil be stored on their server -/)
Mail Wise seems nice but not available in Play store for my country. I tried to use MarketEnabler to specify a [US] T Mobile value but stil doesnt work.
If you have any other idea or good app, let met know.
Thank you

K-9 is probably one of the most popular mail apps and it has options for mark read and delete in the notification panel.

I agree, although there are problems with some devices using it, as I experienced. If you also have problems try [email protected] made by the same devs I believe.

Me too agree! Also K9 is open source. You can downloaded from F-Droid market and with APG app you can firm o encrypt your e-mail message.
Also the default mail, which come with android gapp, can mark as read from the notification bar. It depends on your rom version.

Selecting Bulk emails for deletion . HOW ??

Sorry to ask such a simple ?? but I have googled extensively and looked on this site and cannot find anything. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to CHECK ALL emails in my email package for a bulk deletion ? i THINK lg MAY HAVE OVERLOOKED THIS TINY BUT VITAL procedure ? I can bulk select contacts if i want to do something in my address book but not in emails ? Am i missing something ? What a silly oversight if they have missed it
I suppose you mean Gmail by your "email package". Have you tried pressing the Menu hard key and looking for a Multi-select option (I don't use the Gmail app, so I'm not sure how it's worded)?
are you using the GMAIL app, or another email app? I use the gmail app from the market and all i have to do is tap the checkbox beside each email, and then select delete. all gone.

Yes that is exactly right. I can do that no worries.
HOWEVER !
What happens if you want to to delete dozens and dozens of emails (as in my case with business communications etc ) with one single click rather than going through and selecting each individual one ? How in god's name do you CHECK ALL.
I have the CHECK all option in contacts !!
Try other email clients like k9. Or wait for ice cream sandwich.

[Q] Recomended email app

Anyone recommend a "one size fit all email app" like the iphone, for Att S2?
I'm using Exchange, yahoo, gmail. I have lots of folder in my exchange mail and the stock Mail is sux.
Moxier mail is good but only have 1 email acc. I need an app that can put all mails in one place and showing folders instead of coupel apps for emails.
Thanks
I use Gmail for all of my accounts. I set Gmail up to retrieve (pop) mail from my Yahoo account and my other email address forwards to Gmail. I have labels set up, which allows me to organize it. I've been doing this for a while and it works really well.
What about Exchange, all folder will show or i have to go settings and choose specific folder to view? it's a pain in the bu.. . I really like the way iphone's emails handle.

I've never used Exchange, but if you were able to successfully configure it for pop retrieval, it'd work just as your other email addresses, in terms of how you view them (outlined below). Otherwise, perhaps forwarding is an option. For the email address I have forwarding, I set up filters (scans incoming emails for defined rules) to apply labels (e.g., when the sender or recipient is ______, apply this label). It's something you'd have to toy around with, but I've gotten mine set up pretty well.
All emails would show in your Gmail account inbox (with labels on each one, if you've done this) and you have the ability to specifically select a label to only see mail with that label. This is something you can do online or on your device via the Gmail app (viewing individual labels). I've tried just about every email client and I've found that this method is what works best for me.
Good luck.

I was set up like this as well for quite some time - and it worked well. Recently switched to using maildroid, which I like, but haven't customized to get more functionality than I had with gMail yet...
What's wrong with the stock mail client? Seems really nice to me. Should support all of those account types and you can switch folders very easily.

Back in my Captivate days, I found the stock email client to be unreliable. Ever since then, I've been avoiding it.

The problem is with stock email. My folders didn't go in order some + subfolders.... Moxier mail gives exactly the folder in order like the outlook also display the number for new email....like the MS Outlook in computer.
I just reinstalled Moxier mail and use stock mail for yahoo, gmail also. Oh well, no choice

Touchdown is a pretty good one, but you have to pay for it.
I used to use enhanced email on my cappy

The stock email client is very nice and seems to work very well with Exchange. From what I've seen so far:
1) Tasks will sync
2) Folders are supported, much nicer and easier than with the Captivate
3) Flags are supported
4) Various display options such as first line preview, threaded emails, etc
5) Out of Office settings can be made from phone.
6) You can search emails on the server, not just those on your phone
7) In landscape it'll do a preview pane on the right-hand side. Not bad.
Try it, you've got nothing to lose. Seems pretty nice so far. The only thing I am missing is the ability to "check" multiple emails and take an action on a group of them (e.g., delete them all). You need to do it one-by-one. But so far it works well.
Anybody know if the stock email client can be set up for "push only" so it doesn't poll every x minutes for new mail?
Another vote for enhanced email. You can bypass exchange security rules

Enhanced Email is what youre looking for. I'm a huge Exchange user and this program easily integrates and works just like it does on iphone. You can choose which folders to keep in sync and it will notify you whenever a new message arrives in sub-folders.
The only problem I have with the stock email app is that you can't "Select All" and delete. That capability, and the ability to forward emails by clicking on several contacts and adding them , as the stock program does, are two features I really like; however, I can't find an email program that has both capabilities.

I installed Enhance email. However, it looks alike stock mail (may be I haven't explorer it much). I do like Moxier mail because it's giving me the interface just like Outlook (folder is in order same as my work laptop). Unfortunately, Moxier mail only have 1 account. Wish i can add other acc then it should be PERFECT

[Q] Disabling GMail app (no root) - Solved

Hey all,
Can't believe I am actually interested in disabling GMail.
But the standard "Mail" app seems to have a nicer UI than the Gmail app. Especially since it has dedicated Gmail settings.
But how do I disable the gmail app (can't be uninstalled...yet)? Obviously without root, and not sure it's worth the trouble to temp root.
It's just that every email received at Gmail gives me two separate notifications...
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
The best I can think of (without rooting) is turning off notifications for Gmail so you don't get harassed by two alerts.

That's really all you need to do.
I turned off the gmail notification the first day I had the thing for the same reason.

FWIW, the dedicated Gmail settings in the Sense mail app are POP3 settings. In other words, every email will show up on your phone as unread, even if you have read it on another device or the web interface.

Thanks for this. I did disable notifications for the Gmail app, which worked like a charm.
As to the pop3 mail, I did not get an inbox full of unread mail when I set it up.
Perhaps the Sense mail has been improved? I am familiar with what you are describing, but that is not the behavior I am seeing.

This issue happened for me on my Rezound, so we are talking about the same Sense version. When I set it up, I didn't get an inbox full of unread messages either, but every message I got from then on wouldn't get marked in Sense mail as unread unless I viewed it from within that app. So, for example, I could get a new gmail message in the gmail app/sense mail, and view it in the gmail app/web interface, but even after refreshing the sense mail it still shows up as unread. Eventually I had to remove the gmail account in sense mail and set it up manually as an IMAP.
An HTC rep responded to an email of mine and basically told me that manual IMAP was the only way to get around the issue. But kudos to you if everything is working!

Inbox by Gmail double notification

Hi everyone !
I'd like to share what seems to be a bug on my Honor 7 PLK-L01, that the first OTA update didn't solve.
Every new mail incoming in my Inbox By Gmail app appears twice at the same time in my notification timeline.
Am I the only one ? Did any of you found a solution for that ?
Have a nice day
You haven't by any chance set up your email app with your gmail account as well as the gmail app. Android automatically sets up your gmail when you first set up the phone and log on with your gmail.

I disabled gmail in application settings menu. And I don't think it's gmail because when I swipe the first notification away, the second one is exactly the same, with Inbox's possible actions (Done and Snooze).

I installed the app and it seems that it removes ALL notifications. I'm gonna test a few different settings and check back here.
EDIT : Okay my bad, I still have notifications... Both. So, the app didn't solve the problem :/
Aah, So you are using Inbox? I don't have it installed, but I seem to remember there was a Setting in the Inbox app to disable Notifications from Gmail.

Which app for email?

Hello,
I wanted to know which email App you use. Because the original one I don't like it and Gmail on quick app is very awful :/
So if you can answer to this it would be great!
I use Gmail. Yeah Gookill is just evil.
Use a cloud based only app like Gmail.
That eliminates malware completely unless you chose to download it.
Gmail is excellent with spam and I have never gotten malware through it except if not mindful of downloaded files.
My Yahoo email got locally wifi hacked once, I don't trust it's encryption now.
Outlook is malware central
Yahoo mail, with Gmail and Yahoo account.
I have no notifications, but I check it anyway, several times a day.
Aquamail, the best.
Nine -> Just get it from Petal Search. If you paid for it on playstore you can add your subscription on the Huawei without issue, you just need to paste the order or something in the app.
Blue Mail

Thanks to MicroG settings, now I have notifications too.
Hi, I've been using Spark, I tried also BlueMail but didn't like it at all, what made me convince about Spark is that it syncs also your gmail folders, so everything keeps as if you were using gmail app, also your signatures, contacts an many more features that makes me forget about gmail native app.
It's available in app gallery, good luck!
Another cool app imo -> "Re:Work". https://rework.so/
I was using "Nine" previously so this is their new app and even had promotion for "Nine" users.
It's not available in the app gallery but it can be downloaded.
Dear Nikolay,
We decided to support Huawei users. So we put a link to download the APK (v1.2.27 released in Google Play Store) in the following site. You can download it here.
