[Q] NoRoot Firewall & Android 4.4 Problems - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just updated to 4.4. (stock and Sense 5.5) on my HTC One.
I can't get "NoRoot Firewall" to allow any connections when it's "on", when it's "off" connections are possible.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled and rebooted etc several times.
Does anyone else use this firewall with 4.4. and can get it to work ?
I used it successfully with 4.2.1 and 4.3 and it's supposed to work with 4.4
If not, could anyone recommend any alternatives (rooted or non rooted) ?
But, I'd like something that can be set to a "prompt" state (like NoRoot).
Thanks for any help.

[Q] Can not connect phone to PC when ActiveSync is configured- any work around?

Hi,
When I configure active sync account on my phone, the active sync requests to be (one of) the device administrator(s), I understand this and it happens in all the phones I had, but with SGSIII it asks permission for much more things, the one that I don't like as its not practical is that the phone (both internal memory and external) will not be seen by the PC when connected. Is there a modified Email.apk with these security settings removed? I searched the forum and didn't find anything useful, I'm running (odexed) stock ROM 4.1.2 rooted.
any advice is welcome

[Q] Wifi tether not working FeraLab MIUI v2.4.13 ROM

I recently upgraded to FeraLab MIUI v2.4.13 ROM and everything looks great but I can not get Wifi Hotspot/Tether not working.
Application installed on rom is Wifi Tether for Root Users: If i keep open (no encryption security) then it's visible on my laptop and I can browse as well but for some reason I can not see this Hotspot on my Samsung tablet. Has anyone experience this issue?
I tried removed the build in Wifi Tether app and re-installed from marked and tried lots of device profiles but no luck. When I select profile as Generic ICS/JB (I know this is wrong anyway) but then my tablet can see it but can not connect to the device.
I have also tried to use Barnacle Wifi but that doesn't work and it says it cannot get SU permission. I don't understand why because I get prompt to allow super user access and that appears in super user permission tab but it eventually fails complaining about the permission.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.
P.S. I have locked boot loader but I don't think that should make any difference.
Try adding your wifi information on your own in your tab?
Sent from my X10 using xda app-developers app
Thanks but I did try manually adding the ssid before and after re-installing the app without any luck. Hotspot conection was always appearing as "Not in range".

[Solved] Saferoot, googleplay

Hello there users of xda,
After I installed saferoot I've notice that my google play stopped working via wifi connection but works on my 4g connection. No connection to google play via wifi, also while connected via wifi I've tried to download apps via google play on the computer. A notification pops up on my phone telling me the download failed. On the other hand if I am connected via 4g, google play on the s4 works just fine. I am a noob here.
I don't have much data to run on as I have already used half of it on pandora while going to work and returning from work (2gb data plan).
phone: Galaxy S4
Model: SCH i545 (if you can't tell already it's verizon)
Android Version: 4.3
Build: mk2
Root: Yes=saferoot + safestrap
Never mind, I've solved the problem. The problem occurred after I've uninstalled abp (adblockpro). When I installed adblockpro, my proxy setting was changed on my s4, all I had to do was change the proxy setting back to the default settings.

Secure Settings not triggering at all

Hi, i'm trying to use Secure Settings with Tasker but nothing in SS seems to be working. My android version is 4.4.3 rooted and System+ is enabled. Both tasker and SS have device administrator access.
I've tried to use the condition - failed login attempts and toggling gps. None of these are working. Can anyone help me find the cause for this?
Thanks

Help Needed! Suspecious connection attempts to TOR from sh

I have NoRoot Firewall installed. Today it started warning me that there were new connection attempts from the application sh. I looked up the IPs and they are all TOR nodes. NoRoot Firewall blocks the connections automatically but what ever it is still keeps trying to connect. I'm trying to find out what is trying to make these connections. Seeing that the connections are coming from sh I'm hoping something hasn't gotten access to root and is trying to send out personal data. My phone is not rooted. I'm running Android 4.4.4 . It started happening after installing a few updates from the play store so it could of come in then.
Does any one know how I can find out what program is trying to connect to these TOR nodes without having my phone rooted? (and no I do not have any TOR related apps installed)
