[Q]How to successfully add Google apps and not get error messages? - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

So following a tutorial by Android Cowboy, I got some Google apps to work (except youtube). Unfortunately, messages will come up saying "google service frameworks has stopped working", or process.gapps.something has stopped working". How do I stop these from showing up? They are quite annoying.

I found the easiest way to get this working was to backup the same apps from my phone, galaxy nexus, using titanium backup and then restoring them to the kindle hdx. This does require root though. But this got my google services all working and as long as I don't try to download anything from the play store then I can search the site just fine.
Just remember to immediately turn off auto updates in the play store and stop any updates that have already tried to start.

His HDX is rooted, so after installing SafeStrap (a recovery program), he flashed the gapps.

I would do anything to get rid of these error messages. Does rooting accomplish this? I am hesitant to root because all I really want is google apps working flawlessly and I don't want to risk the root process (scared of losing warranty and bricking).

Right now you can't get both Amazon and Google working together. People are working on that.
If you want Google, you have to rid all of Amazon stuff (or enough of it so it doesn't interfere w/ Google stuff).
Remember, you can always load up factory image, which would essentially unroot your device, and voila, good for returns.

I'm not rooted. I just got my HDX, so I don't won't to screw it up straight out of the box by doing something wrong with rooting. I guess I'll just wait for someone to say something that doesn't include rooting.

[Q] Google Play Store and other apps

Has anyone gotten google play store working? I tried following the steps from android cowboy but I get back to back errors for google services no matter what.
On a different note, is there a way to remove the ads/special offers for free?
Thanks,

Google play is a system apps so it's gonna need a rooted or modified rom with bootloader cracked. Same is needed to disable kindle offers.
So is there any good way of getting apps beyond side loading?

Only the second part is true. You can get the Google play store apk on any device, regardless of root or not.

Try this link.
Although it says Kindle Fire HD, ignore that. Ignore step 3. Also ignore anything that says about copying to /system/app.
Just install the apps in the order he has listed then install the "Vending.apk" (That is the Google Play Store). Please also note that you will most likely not be able to install apps from it. :/

One way to get a lot of Android apps onto Kindle, until we get root.

Seems to me like there should be some kind of app you can run on your rooted android device to pull the apk. Then install the full version on the Kindle via sideloading.

Better results
You'll get better results in the interim from installing:
a) 1MobileMarket
or
b) Aptoide
or
c) BlackMart Alpha (shh..)
Tinkering with Google Play Store components before we have root may be an exercise in futility.
The content of the link is quiet useful to me. Thank you for sharing. I decide to buy a licence. :good:
Anyone tried SNAPPEA TO passthru GooglePlay?
I saw a utility SnapPea that seems to allow a pass thru from a PC to Kindle Fire HDX for accessing GooglePlay. As I still have not ordered my HDX I was wondering if anyone has tried this.

The SnapPea app that I just tested is a way to control your android device from a browser on your computer, similar to AirDroid. It does not allow access to Google Play for the Kindle. What it does do is help you to install an .apk file through the browser, but then we can do that already by allowing sideload anyway. So maybe you were thinking about something else?

Same here.. Just bought a Kindle Fire HD 2013 and tried every possible attempt described on many how-to to get it rooted for Google Play. Nothing worked. Device current version is 11.3.0.5.
Tried the side load as well described for HDX. Gmail app works but that's about it.
Anyone succeeded on this version?
Thanks

I basically got pretty much every app to work except for Hangouts and Play Store. This includes everything from Voice to Gmail to Map to Google Earth to Google Plus to whatever. The key for me was to start with base configs that Android Cowboy posted, but then add bunch of dependencies from android 4.2.2 and update with latest version of backed up apps. For example, I have had to install Google Play Services 3.2.66 first and then was able to update to 4.0.31 after reboot. That version was required for Youtube to work properly (i.e. allow account sign-in). Things still crash sometimes, but it's not a huge deal.
Main thing is Youtube, Music, Gmail and Calendar are all working more or less ok. Chrome signed into my google account, but its not pulling down settings (bookmarks, open tabs from other computers, etc...). Google Plus crashes sometimes but works. Hangouts is clearly missing a dependency of some sort. I installed most things I could thing of from default Android 4.2.2 CM10.1 apps package and from backing up my phone (galaxy s4), but it's still no go. It would be nice to get that going as well. Oh well, Skype can cover most things there.

Wanted to confirm that I also have Google Voice working on the HDX 7 (since I rarely see people mentioning it as a Google App). Interestingly, I also got Talkatone working on the HDX with my Google Voice number, even though the app's FAQ plainly says that Google Voice will NOT work with it. As a result, as long as I have wifi, I can now easily use my Google Voice number to make and receive calls.

I'm using the paid version of floating toucher to access recent apps.
To get apps to show up on the stock multi tasking bar you have to open them from the stock home launcher.

Correct. The multitasking feature on the HDX is basically just the Carousel, with exactly the same shortcuts in exactly the same order. The only difference is it's hidden on the edge of the screen until you pull it up. So, just as apps launched from alternative launchers won't show up on the Carousel, they also won't show up on the HDX multitasking bar.

[Q] Apps showing as purchased even though I didn't buy them

Ok so this is a pretty strange issue. On my Galaxy SIII, I just upgraded to 4.4. I have 3 Google accounts with paid apps, but am trying to consolidate that down to one, so I don't have to sign in to all of them to get my apps, and I often get 403 errors when updating. I know the apps don't transfer, and I will have to repurchase them with this primary account. I am fine with that. However, Google Play doesn't seem to like that idea.
I did a clean flash, and signed into only this primary account. However, the Play Store is somehow saying that the apps I've purchased with my other accounts are purchased with this primary account. But when I try to install them I get a stupid 403 error. Even stranger, I installed Titanium Backup, and it's magically saying I'm using the Pro version (I purchased the key with one of the other accounts, have not installed it).
When I look in my browser at the apps I purchased with accounts other than my primary, it says they are already installed, even though they are not. I've tried everything I know. Does anybody have a clue why this might be happening or a solution?
Titanium Backup has a feature called Market Doctor which scans for all your Play Store links, and you can use it to break them too. That'd be the first thing I would try, because it's easy and I'm lazy. lol
Thanks. I was able to install using TiBu, use the 'Detach from Market' option, and uninstall to get it working.
New, unrelated question. I'm trying to restore my SMS messages using TiBu, but it is continuously asking if I want to use TiBu instead of Hangouts as my SMS app. I have clicked No about 50 times so far but it keeps coming up. Any way around this?

Nope, you gotta do that on 4.4. Once it is done restoring it'll ask you if you want to switch back. This is normal behavior.

First off, I'm glad someone else had this problem, because I was about to post an almost identical thread.
I have an additional problem though...there are a few apps I would like to repurchase on my primary account for which I no longer have TiBu files. Any ideas for how I could get those back?

Hmm. Depending on what kind of app it is, you might be able to "find" them, install, use TiBu to break the link and uninstall so you can install them officially. Other than that, not really sure.

[Q] Need help with everything google related verizon rooted galaxy s4

Alright so basically everything I'm about to say will make me look like an idiot. I've poked around on my phone removing a bunch of stuff it looked like I didn't need with some of it being recommended to not be removed and one day I couldn't connect to the google play store because it said check your connection and try again with a retry button and hitting retry would just bring the profile panel out from the side. So I installed the alternative App Store Aptoide and everything was fine because I didn't need the play store. i think I may have used lucky patcher the first time I screwed up the play store and tried to install clean versions now that I think of it. But now no google app whatsoever works including stuff like snapchat that says I need to update google play services in order to continue and then it takes me to my broken play store. I've tried to uninstall updates and reinstall the google apps to no avail. Please help! I'm slowly losing functionality of my phone

Your best bet will be to reflash a stock rom for your device. Also Aptoide and lucky patcher are warez apps and not allowed to be talked about on the site. Either one of those could easily have had some malware embeded into the apks.
Word of advice. Unless you know what your doing dont go deleting things.
Thanks, sorry I didn't know about those apps. Roughly how much will I lose by flashing a stock rom?

You will most likely be starting from a clean set up so back up everything you need like pictures and such.
Also this is probably also not allowed but where can I get a stock rom since I never backed mine up ? I know I'm stupid

[Q] Sprint lg g3 play store issue

I have a sprint lg g3 model s990 currently running lollipop 5.0.1
Unfortunately several of my system apps have stopped working all together. The play store and my youtube app have completely stopped working. Is there a forum or thread with a solution to this problem? I have searched xda and google high and low with no success.
Hello and thank you once again for using XDA Assist.
Please make sure you are using XDA Forums properly.
You should be going to your devices Forum and searching there
And posting your questions there.
Your thread will be moved here http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/help which is the proper location to place questions regarding your device.
Also you should be searching within this Forum only here http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3 this is completely specific to your device and you will find plenty of helpful people there.

Sounds like a bad app or...
Are you using xposed? That's still causing people problems. Look in xposed issues for fixes.
Are you rooted? And did you downgrade to root?
Any other mods you've done?
To many questions to really help out. But more than likely, your questions have already been asked and answered in this forum.
Just a thought also upgrade your Google Play Services.

I would go into settings>apps and see if you can uninstall any upgrades to play store or Google play services. You can actually uninstall all those apps and go on the web browser and download Google pay store to start fresh and then load apps.
You mentioned Titbu which leads me to believe you may have restored versions of the apps which may be outdated and don't work well with lollipop or restored corrupted data.

Thats the funny and dare i say evil thing about this i can go to the playstore online but when i try to install apps NOTHING HAPPENS no app downloading screen nothing nada. I made the titanium backup immedietly after rooting on lollipop. As far as i can tell i cant do anything more. I have unstalled updates to both services and run force stop on both of them still nothing.
I just force stopped and uninstalled updated on google play store and services still nothing. :/
Try wiping data on those apps also you tube uninstall that completely.

How do i go about doing that? Sorry for asking so many questions. When it comest to android Im a total noob at best
Since you said you have titanium backup it's even easier go into Titbu find the App listed under the back up and restore tab. Click on the App then click on wipe data you can actually click to uninstall also within titbu.
Edfunkycold

So just go to uninstall then restore? Im just making sure since its a system app and i dont want to ruin my phone
Yeah they install them as system apps but you can remove them. Just start with wiping data not uninstalling. Them reboot the phone. If that does not work then uninstall and then re download them starting with play store. Once that's running using play store download the others. One at a time.

Ok im doing that now ill let you know how it goes
Tb has been hung on the restore screen for about 10 minutes now should i just let it keep going???
You should not restore from titbu you should have downloaded a fresh app and installed it starting with the Google play store. But go ahead and reboot the phone.

I said reboot the phone...

Can I stop my phone automatically installing apps?

Got a no mark S4 clone on 4.2, perfectly happy with it, got CWM and a new rom on it, its fine.
I have exposed and boot manager and once a day it has its icon telling me 'google play services' has auto installed, and every other day an app called 'recents' with a sort of C:\ terminal icon. Now, neither of these I want, I've deleted them so, SO many times, selected 'dont auto update' and also 'dont notify' from within google play, set my firewall to block anything google when on 4g etc...

The only way is to build a new aosp rom for your device. My advise is remember that you get what you pay for and clones never really have any of the hardware they claim they do. I think you will find you are better off ditching the device and buying a new one.

That doesnt actually help me at all.
The phone is fine, no issue with it. Has a new rom on it, specs were as described, its a problem with google, and the play store auto installing, it did this on my old S2 and my galaxy tab stock, so its not the hardware.
There must be a way to stop the play store doing this apart from uninstalling the play store as I am currently doing.
