[Q] Using Samsung Tablet as Monitor for Mac Mini - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Thanks for all the great info guys.
I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer.
I had my Galaxy Tab stolen along with my Macbook Air and need to replace.
This time I would like to get a fully spec'd Mac Mini and get the latest and greatest Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 or 12.1.
Anyone know how to get Samsung tablet to be used as a monitor for Mac Mini? I want to work off Tablet while connected to Mac Mini for
my video and audio work and then use the tablet later for web and other android stuff.
I would prefer a wired connection since Mac Mini has all kinds of ports that are fast.
Anyone know of a work around for this kind of setup?
I need to have both because of the heavy work I do in video and audio on Mac and the the heavy
research I do online with tablet. The pen would be a great help in both systems. I've seen on youtube that
tablets touch screen can be used on Macbooks.
Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Ever get any guidance?
Hey Dan --
I'm considering something similar for similar reasons (video/audio editing & writing/research) .... did you ever get any advice for this set up or give it a try? Curious how it worked out ... any and all appreciated.

[Q] Mk808 mini PC's

Hi all,
I've been reading about these mini android PC's that are similar in size to a flash drive that plug in to the HD socket on the TV.
They really appeal to me as I'm not upgrading my TV for a while and this would allow me to have similar functions to some of the smart TV's like wifi and streaming etc, not to mention so sweet apps!
I had a look around but can't see anywhere on XDA forums for development on these devices - I'm too new to use the search bar, apparently, so apologies if I missed it! Or if there's someone who has one that can offer some reliable feedback / review I'd appreciate it!
Thanks.

No one got experience with these?
I haven't tried this out, but take a look at: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?1971-NEW-MK808-Android-mini-TV-Player-Finless-1-5A-Custom-ROM
I'm really hoping to find a 4.2 ROM because user profiles would be awesome on this thing.

Help regarding Android Mini PC MK802 IIIS

Hey XDA!
I've bought an Android Mini PC MK802 IIIS model so I could watch mostly Netflix on my TV, however I have several problems.
First of all, the subtitles from Netflix are just waay too small, i can't even read them from my couch. I've Googled and search on XDA but I couldnt find a solution. Isnt there any way to increase the subtitle size? Or just increase overall size, so you eventually can resize before/after you've watched Netflix..? If any developers are reading this, It'd also be very nice if someone could perhaps edit the apk and increase the size this way..? At least I'd be very thanksful for that.
Second of all, the MK802 is very unstable for me. It keeps crashing the apps, and restarting it self several times pr. hours. It interrupts when I watch movies, when I browse or whatever I'm doing. It gets pretty annoying and I was wondering if it is defect or MK802 mostly are very unstable..?
Anyone else at XDA who has this device and what are your experience with it?
Also, it would be very nice with its very own subforum, but I guess there are too few of us with them, that it is possible..?
Thank you very much! - Any help is appreciated!
EDIT: I'm sorry if this isnt the correct place to put this thread, but it was the most obvious place for me at least.

Your netflix works? I have the same unit (I actually have both an mk802II and a mk802IIIs). Mine just sits at the "loading" screen after I make a selection. Another issue I've noticed is ampdroid doesn't seem to work on the mk802IIIs (but works fine on my mk802II).
Overall I'm not having many stability issues, love the mk802IIIs remote off my smartphone using gsensor

hmmm ???
Ok im hoping to at least get some feedback - Im new to the Mini PC thing - and was actually thinking of picking up the rikomagic mk802IIIS or even a Zealz GK802 or mk808B. but im totally confused and wondering about capability. These things look pretty cool... id like to play around with one of these and try to use it as a media server (music, video, secure ftp) which of the following devices would be best suited to this? I know some are easier to root and get linux installed un them but if someone cold point me to a better place to inquire more about the capability of such devices that would be great. At the moment as far as a dual core that can support Ubuntu based distro it would appear that these 2 devices ( mk802 IIIS & MK808B) appear to be the best from a hardware perspective until the rockchip 3166 comes out or a version of linux is able to run on the GK802, but in case i over-looked some other option or what not which of these would be a good fit for a low-power media server?

[Q] S2 as a Basic Home Audio Controller

Hi All,
First post here, hope i'm posting in the right area. If not, MODS feel free to point me in the appropriate direction and delete/move as appropriate. I've also tried searching without luck and not really sure what other terms i can use to describe what i'm doing.
Basically, i have two old s2's (GT-i9100) that i intend to use in the audio systems around my house. One will sit in the loungeroom and be able to stream to one of several Airplay receivers around the place (Yamaha RX-V573 Receiver or my other S2 plugged into the receiver in the shed running Airbubble) using Airtunes. I'm using Airplay, because it seems to work incredibly smoothly and easily, its built into my receiver, plus my Zombie iOS friends can play their music easily as well. Maybe i'm over complicating, maybe theres an easier way of doing this, i'm open to suggestions.
I want anybody to be able to pick up the s2 that will live on the coffee table and play music via pandora/mog/or my DLNA server to any of the receivers. I want it to be secure and restricted to that i'm the only one that can modify/configure the settings. And there will be no facebook/google account etc running on the device as a security precaution. Does this make sense?
So basically i'm after a Basic Simple ROM with no unneeded apps that can handle these basic functions with reliability and stability, and can be locked down.
For reference, my daily is an s4, plus i have a work supplied iPAD2, which i have just replaced with my own 2014 Note 10.1. My PC is a Series 9 Samsung 15" Laptop. I have installed several ROMS before on my S2 and my Xoom.
Any tips/advice/help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks :fingers-crossed:

Bomaker Polaris

Hey there, wondering if anyone has tried to hack/upgrade the Bomaker Polaris? It is running Android 6, if nothing else would be nice to upgrade it to Android 9, but also wondering if there are any general guides, or if there is a good way to check if the internals are generic enough I'll have luck hacking it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated

I just got a Polaris too. The built in OS is one of the few cons. I'm currently using the Google TV chromecast which thanks to the CEC, controls work decent enough. What sucks is it only has 2 hdmis and I have to use one for the chromecast since the built in OS is unusable. I'd also ask for some keystone adjustment software to make that process way easier
Something I realized is the newer JMGO U2 looks like it has the exact same hardware as the Polaris! Same CPU, same sensors, same input panel, etc. That means both devices could possibly be combined into one thread on here and with increased user numbers, we may discover cool hacks/mods for both of them. I would even be interested in trying Luna OS (JMGO's OS) on my Polaris. Of course the ultimate goal would be full android TV, but that's probably not an easy port at the moment (Because both the Polaris and U2 are stuck on Android 6.0)
