[APP] GMD Air Command Shortcut - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Themes and Apps

I created small app that triggers Air Command menu. Could you try it on Note 10.1 (2014) as I don't have it.
You can get the app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2610770

These just require that you use S Pen. This app only shows the menu.

Ahh.. ok so it works..

Requires root ?

I updated the app:
1) Scrapbooker - it requires S Pen. You can to select are with S Pen if you click this action.
2) Pen Window now whould work.
Also you can now put this shortcut to Multiwindow menu.
I still have one question for Note 10.1 users. If you set S Pen detach action to None in Android settings does this app still open Air Command properly for you?

Thanks. I still don't get why I have a bunch of comments in Play Store that it does nothing on Note 10.1

Very nice shortcut app....

So is anyone having this issue, that app does not start Air Command? Anyone tried it on LTE model?

seriously.. it's weird.. I read the comments on play store and i don;t know why people with note 10.1 2014 are saying that it is not working. I have p605(LTE) model and for me it works like it should. Hmm.. Is it possible that it works because i'm rooted...?? I don't think so.. but...

I have p600 wifi only and the shortcut works fine. I haven't been able to get the Themed air command versions to work yet. Wally3614 is already making it for Note 3, (which I also have and it works perfect as does this shortcut app) and he is attempting to get testers on Note 10.1 2014 at my request to port....

I now also check the Playstore version but also this version works like it should be...

I'm having that issue after getting the app from your thread. Do I just install the app and start it up or am I missing something? When I click the icon, nothing happens. I'm rooted on p600.

Yes you should just start the app and it is supposed to display Air Command on bottom right.
This apps sets you spen detach action to Air Command, sends SPen detach event and then restores old detach action. Normally you don't need to adjust any of your settings. But since it does not work could you try a few things:
1) Do you have S Pen detach action?
2) Try setting it manually to S Pen detach and see if app works then?
I will try to fix it when I understand how it fails.

I followed your instructions and tried setting pen detachment options to "none" as well as trying it with "air command". I also tried it both with the pen attached and detached. However, none of these seemed to work. For the Spen options, i have all of them checked and all of them turned on.
The only notification I get when I press the icon for the app is that it says "S-pen has been detached" at the top. I'll be happy to try anything else if you need.

But if you select Air Command for detach and actually detach S Pen it properly triggers Air Command?
How many options do you have in Pen Detachment options? Is it 3: Note, Action Memo, Air Command?

Not exactly what you've asked for, but tested in my note 2 with Phoenix ROM (4.3) and it worked flawlessly.
I can see potential on this app. Is there someway to customize the air view menu?

Yes, if I select air command and then actually detach the Spen afterwards, then it triggers the command. But without detaching the pen, nothing comes up. Under pen detachment i have None, action memo, and Air command.
Edit: Oh, I don't think I made it clear. It pops up when I take the Spen out only when I have it set to air command. If set to none, then nothing pops up either way.

Unfortunately it appears this, and many other features only work with the stock Samsung Apps. If you're using third party apps, they will need to code this into their programs in order for it to work.
Ah, I never realized it would only work with the stock/default apps... Although I have tried in the default web browser... and never got it to work.
I'm using Go SMS (not the default messaging app)
I'm using Enhanced Email with my 2x Gmail accts (why?!? Because the GMAIL app DOESN'T support FIT TO SCREEN, and I refuse to pan left/right to read an email!!! Stupid gmail app! sorry, I had a moment of weakness there)

S-pen gesture app

i have not tried it yet but i will be trying it out soon.
just thought with AOSP rom hitting our forum and loosing a lot of spen functions this would come in handy.

i will report back after i play with it a bit.
i take no credit in finding this app. a fellow member (guthrien) turned me on to it. THANKS
I have this app and love it. Even on tw ROMs I like it cause I have a bunch of gestures set up. No more gesture to get a box to gesture bs. It also has 5 launch pads, one center and one from each edge of the screen. Got my bottom launchpad set up like I had my nav bar set on my galaxy nexus. It does still have some conflicting issues with default s pen functions, like the default swipe from edge of screen to switch to next app makes it take a screenshot to draw on, but I solved that by turning them off and creating my own gesture to switch app. The dev is always quick to respond and says he is working on solving the conflicting issues but i use his guesture app for my tablet and have have a few conversations with him and was helpful.I highly recommend the app..

The box he is referring to is when you hold button on spen and draw a line straight up. A quick comand box pops up. There is only a few gestures anyway witch is why you need this app. You can set a gesture for anything

[Q] Multiwindow and Kindle app

I have installed a multi window manager to add more apps to the multi window options. Kindle worked fine. Then I uninstalled Kindle and installed again and it no longer works. It doesn't show up on the options most of the time, and when it does, it doesn't actually open in split screen or pen window mode. Any ides on how to fix this? I've written the developer of the multiwindow app and he hasn't responded. Maybe there's something I can do on my end?

How to disable Air Command

I would like to disable Air Command in order to make the s pen button available to apps. I have found the air command settings, but there does not seem to be an option to disable it altogether. If I delete all the shortcuts and then press the button, it appears with a "helpful" tip to use the s pen >detachment settings to disable it. But there is no such section, presumably because the pen cannot be inserted into this tablet.
Is there truly no way to disable Air Command?
Can anyone either confirm to problem or tell me what I am missing?
Edit: Here are some screenshots illustrating the problem: https://goo.gl/photos/EhQLgH1Kiear3vzP8

Doesn't look like there is a way to disable it completely (even in the System Apps menu). But the button is available to use when use in apps as an eraser (a la Microsoft Word) even with Air Command enabled if you hold it. It seems like Air Command doesn't pop up if you long press the button instead of a short click.
Hope this helps.

Thank you. I have discovered this, and that it also works if you touch the screen with the pen before releasing it. (It occurs to me that may be more about the extra time it takes to do that than the touch).
When I began trying to disable Air Command, I was using an app with broken button support. Now that I understand that Air Command does not interfere with the use of the button in apps I am happy to leave it enabled.
Frank.
I'm a bit late to this post, but I wanted to let you know there is a way around that. I was able to disable it by freezing it in titanium (pretty sure that feature requires root, so there is your one catch.) You won't be able to disable it from your regular app settings as samsung doesn't allow this. Just search air in titanium and you should see it.
When I found this fix I was overcome with joy and satisfaction. I F*cking hate air command, and especially hate gimmicks that are forced on the end user. The button has so many other uses in drawing apps, but those uses get nerfed by having an annoying popup come up unless you long press. Samsung should have enabled air command as a long press event.
"BK package disabler" app works fine with me. Im using Galaxy Tab 10.1 with S Pen. This app can disable only the air command feature while enabling other in-app functions that are using s pen button. The "Air Command" app is under the "System" tab in the app. No rooting required. One thing is you have to buy the app but the price is cheap and it is worth the money!
Dude, thanks

configure M-Pen Floating-Menu?

I've got a MediaPad M5 Pro 10 with M-Pen stylus. When I tap the M-Pen once together with function button a floating menu pops up with stylus specific apps and a help app. In my case in this floating menu there are two apps (MyScript calculator and Nebo for Huawei). Is there a way to add more apps to this special menu? I couldn't find anything about.

Thanks I hadn't even noticed that menu.
My Menu has a third app (Sketchbook Pro) which I installed, so certain apps can seemingly add to it somehow.
I cannot seem to see the M-Pen floating menu apps location with a file explorer, so I think it's in the hidden Huawei directory, and clicking the app icon itself does nothing.
So I don't think it can be done without root.
It would be nice to configure the buttons on the pen as well, does the 2nd button do anything?

I just installed the free version of Autodesk Sketchbook and it appears in the floating menu by itself. Do some apps have a "stylus flag" set or something like this?

Yes I imagine it's done that way, I'm not sure of exactly which flag it's setting, Android SDK does have a TOOL_TYPE_STYLUS option to detect a stylus, but I have installed other apps like 'Write', 'Clover Paint', & 'Art Rage' which don't show up in the menu.
The Menu may just be looking for certain app names like "Sketchpad" so when it appears it's added to the menu, but that would be a half-assed way of doing it.
With root I would I imagine one can customise the list manually.
I will continue to try and find out how it's achieved, as I would like to be able to configure it myself, so I will let you know if I get any further info.
