port applications - HTC Amaze 4G

Greetings
If I want to port some applications of the system for more rom, what i do?
For example, if i want port camera of official ROM for a miui ROM,what i do?
Thanks

Yeah you would have to decompile the apk and doo some magic and recompile it again i dont think a sense camera will work on a miui rom use a app from play store instead

If you want the best camera for the amaze then you need to run a sense based ROM. All of the "magic" that allows us to fully utilize the features of our cameras, such as ISO adjustment and continuous autofocus are tied into sense. Every other camera whether it's a standalone or included in another ROM lacks these features as they are proprietary to HTC. So you can experiment trying any camera you like, but unless you're running a sense ROM you have to accept a less capable camera app than the stock one. I hope this clarifies things.

Stock Camera App of Official 2.3.3 GB ROM
I have a question for those who have used the official Gingerbread 2.3.3 ROMs:
1) What is the camera app on it?
2) Do you think it is possible to make the stock camera app work on custom GB ROMs?
Thanks!

Answering:
1)Same as stock froyo
2)No I don't think so as it requires some modifications to the kernel...also, someone did try replacing it in cm7 but got FC on running the app.
LG Stock Camera apps has something to do with frame work....thats y it is not working on CM
I'm not a developer, but I think that if stock camera app had something to do with kernel, this problem could be solved.. because we have kernel sources. And possibly the same goes for framework, since framework apk can be decompiled and modified.
I don't say that it would be easy, nor quick.. but a capable developer could do this kind of stuff if he had time.
If think the problem is that stock camera app has something to do with some system libs!
Libs cannot be decompiled and there is no available sources... so there is little room for modding..
Any news on this? I really really miss the LG camera app here.
I wanted, at least, an app with a simple UI and manual focus option.
nope, libs needs to be replaced, also the apk, and i think the lg-res in framework folder needs to be in the CM7 framework folder
however this will take time and u need to have time to do this l0l
I'm used to play with linux stuff, I'm a programmer and Linux user. I wanted to hack this stuff out, but I'll wait for what ICS will give us.

Guys,
check this out

It's stock LG Camera for CM7 in Optimus2x
I'd love to see it happen too!
does anyone tried this? any comment?
I also want it..
even just for that cam I use multirom(see my sign)!!
I think that camera is quite good in CM 7.2 N2 by adfad666 when compared to stock... though the camera in nightlies has bugs nad quality is also poor..

[Q] Camera apk for AOSP 2.3.5 Rom

Hi guys, i have AOSP 2.3.5 ROM installed on my i9100.
Works perfectly but i don't like Android Camera so i want to ask you if it's possible to install a different Camera.apk like Sensation's once or SGS2 itself!
PS: I hate all camera application in the Market
Thank for support guys!
MIUI Camera works on sgs2, so does the hacked camera app from sgs1, it has some nice features missing from the sgs2, including a hardware shutter key, but yeah, if you find a good camera app PM me and ill syd

Do you have a link to the hacked apk?
I tried a few but I couldn't get it working, probably downloaded the wrong one
I think i need a Camera.apk compatible on my AOSP Rom, but i can't find it!
The camera from MIUI (the one with the ability to do 1080p video) FCs after pushing it to system/apps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130951
If you have one that works, please let us know where to get it. AOSP/CM7 camera app (for a lack of a better word) sucks. I'd prefer the stock Samsung camera app, but that won't work on non-Samsung ROMs.
Get lg camera pro app in market video camera works well with it

Tried it, but didn't like it. I haven't found any camera app on the market that I like. All of them have some kind of gimmick.
I just want one that gives the kind of features as the Samsung OEM camera or MIUI camera does without the ads and flashy gimmicks.

I don't think you could directly use the camera in stock JB because of difference in frameworks so you would have to search for a ported version or maybe ask whether some of the mod devs to do it for you, but still I think it's rather hard and difficult to do, you will have to contend yourself with something else.
If you're using a stock based rom it would've been easier.

I have found something that you might like

[Q] Samsung Camera App on a custom rom???

I'm rooting my Verizon Galaxy S4 (16g) with Cyanogenmod but only thing that stops me right now is the camera. The camera on the phone works great with Samsung's camera software. But since I'm moving on from Touchwiz to Cyanogenmod, I'm curious if there is any way to keep the Samsung's camera app on a custom rom. Thank you.
Unfortunately the Samsung Camera App requires the Touchwiz framework. It doesn't work on AOSP roms. You can try the Eclipse rom. It has that AOSP look and feel but is touchwiz based so it has the Samsung Camera app on it. The dialer, settings, contacts, and notification panels are all AOSP.

You can only use it on a TW rom. It hooks into proprietary TW framework that we can't get source code for to port to AOSP.
If you use a GPE rom, such as the one by Danvdh, it's a little different. Since these are built on the GPE device base they're still AOSP roms but they use Samsung drivers for the camera. It's still as not as good as the full TW camera, but with a third party app (Google's camera still sucks) it's the best camera experience you'll get on AOSP on this phone.

All very true.. Have you used that Lenovo Super Camera??? I thougt it was really cool, comparable to the Wiz Camera, just depending on which version you found it either required all sorts of permissions/libraries . if we could scrounge up just an easy to install... No permissions Lenovo that'd be cool

Yeah I tried it right when it got pulled from that Intel phone Lenovo came out with, I've never been much of a camera aficionado though. I thought the gallery app was really cool but a lot of Chinese all over the place lol.
