Samsung grand duos data - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the Samsung grand duos about a month now and I love it. However recently my data on sim card one was near it's max so wanted to use the data from sim card two - I know sim 2 is only 2g but I only wanted it for emails not major browsing for a day or 2. I could not get the data to work despite selecting it in sim card manager. I checked the sim in another phone and the data works ok. I am nearly sure that it did work when I got the phone but I can't swear to it. Is it anything I am doing or what is the issue? I really like the phone and don't want to send it back. Phone works fine for calls and texts on both sims.

Cant make receive calls/texts

Recently bought a second hand S3 on the UK three network and used a unlock code as on t-mobile/orange. It was working fine but recently it stopped sending and receiving calls and texts. Data usage is fine. Not sure when this happened as mainly use it for data as have a works phone. Can remember doing a software update (think to jelly bean) recently but couldn't say whether its started after that. Have used my cut down sim in the wifes S3 and it works okay and put her sim in miner and that has same issue. When I try to call it immediately ends call and texts just fail. Have tried setting to network manually both 2g and 3g and auto, sometimes it say cant register and other times it does but when call ends it then seems to change to another available network. Started to think the imei may have been blocked but wouldn't expect data to work. Anyway rang t-mobile and they said everything looks okay their end and the imei is not black listed but not sure how they could tell that. Said the issue must be with my phone. Have emailed samsung to see what they say but not to hopeful with it being a second hand phone. The bars on the signal seem okay too.
Anybody got any idea's on what to try or do as its currently an expensive data only device. :crying:
Have already tried a factory reset.

If it's not your imei number. Did you have a backup of your efs folder?

Didn't have a backup of anything, why? One thing I have noticed is that the sim card doesn't click into the slot. compared it against the wife s3 and the sim card doesn't go as far down as if something is blocking it. Tried my sim in the wifes s3 only putting it in the same distance and it worked fine. Anyway just in case I took some of the plastic off the bottom right up to the metal chip so it would sit in the right place not being all the way down but it still does not work. Whilst having the sim in the wifes phone I diverted all calls to my works mobile and when back in my s3 its shows as calls being diverted so it must be working up to a point. Not sure whats wrong with the sim card slot, the mechanism which you push to insert and release seems to be broken so not sure if this is the cause or just a knock on effect from taking the sim card in and out alot
.
Can the sim card slot/mechanism be replaced/fixed easily?

Just one SIM will not work with my phone

Hello everyone, i have a Galaxy S3 with cyanogenmod 10.1 installed. This morning my cellphone started to give me no signal, I initially though it might be some problem with my carrier, but clearly this is not the case. I tried to swap SIM cards with my mom cellphone (another S3 with ROM stock), and the two SIM worked. I put again the two SIMs in the respective phone, and my phone still couldn't get signal with MY SIM, while with my mother's there weren't any problem
Basically: my phone can't read MY SIM out of the blue, but my SIM works with other phones. And my phone aswell works with other SIM. This seems to me without any sense. Can someone figured out why it does this?
I tried to wipe the phone, change rom (from cyano 10.1 to 10.2), the issue is still there.

[Q] Galaxy Mega 6.3 GT19200

Hi I bought my new Galaxy mega 2 weeks ago in Bangkok from a reputable dealer so its a straight phone!. Got a local SIM from AIS and it was working faultlessly on both Phone and Data.
Got back to the UK and as my old phone has the 'Normal' sized Sim I ordered a Micro Sim from Virgin.
Now the problems start, when trying to make a phone call or message I get Not Registered on Network, but not all the time. I can occasionally make calls but for 90% of the time I get the above message despite have 3 bars signal power on the phone.
I called Virgin, they said it was the problem with the phone (but how come it worked perfectly in Thailand)
Called Samsung, they told me I had to call Bangkok.
Just as a follow up this phone is unlocked.
I find this phone perfect for almost everything I want.
Can anyone help with the problem? Ive tried all the Google fixes to no success.

Question Help! Sim card stops working after making a call. Can't receive calls either.

Info:
Cellular Provider: T-Mobile
ROM: Stock Chinese ROM
Location: USA
Problem: Sim card stops working after making a call. Can't receive calls either.
I just bought the Mix 4 around two weeks ago and just put in a new SIM card that I just got today. The SIM card was already tested to be working fine on my Vivo NEX S. Calls, text and data all work fine with the Vivo NEX S. When in my Mix 4, it works fine when it comes to data and texting. But when I try to call, the SIM card just stops working. The Mix 4 is able to detect it, but it's unusable until I put that SIM card inside my Vivo NEX S and then putting it back in the Mix 4. When attempting to call with the Mix 4, when the call goes through, the SIM just turns off or is disabled. But the call will go through and I will be able to talk to the recipient for a couple seconds before it stops due to lack of data/loss connection. I also can't seem to receive calls.
I also have a working Verizon sim card and the exact same thing happens. I've also taken a look at the APN and everything looks fine.
Is there anything I can do?
Sounds like a phone issue.
Same here, just got my T-Mobile sim card today and mix4 shows no signal.

Based on feedbacks from Reddit and xiaomi forum, I notice it only occurred for US carriers.
I tried verison, at&t, and t-mobile, but none of it worked.
MIX 4 seems to have issue for network registering, which renders it unusable in US.
