Disable certain area of screen display - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
i have a zopo zp980 but suddently the top area of screen became not sensible anymore at any type of touch.
A possible soluzion to me is disable this area and reduce the physical screen size but i have almost no idea how to achieve this.
The device is already rooted, bootloader is cwm
Anyone's suggestions ?

decreasing screen resolution

i have searched and read on screen problems and seen info on lines across screen. i think i have his as sometimes xda is unreadable and if it were a pc would have thought that the monitor card had gone or driver wrong resulting in decreased screen resolution ( hazy and non color )
fix seems to be a new screen or touch pad - bit confused what the difference is. which bit is what?? can any one who has had ( and hopefully fixed ) low resolution problem clarify which parts are needed.
Note - Problem seems intermittent ss better today after hard reset than before!!!???? as working ok now thibk the touch pad is working as it certainly takes input commands?
cna anyone clarify - running 4.00.05ENG and 4.21 radio
problem I have seems very intermitant. If the screen is OK it seems to go bad during recharing phase either syncd to PC or via car charger.
Also inbox is now unviewable for SMS or sync'd emails.
Has anyone seen this where charging impacts the screen??
Will a reload of 4.00.05 help?
No. If it's a hardware problem (and it does sound like that), no ROM upgrade will fix it. The touch pad is the part that measures where the pen is, the screen lies underneath. They are attached as one piece, but they can be separated (with care...).

[Q] Parts of Atrix screen non-responsive

Hey all. There is a super slim crack across the center of my screen (probably from dropping it). Some time after this happened, parts of the screen became unresponsive (i.e. the middle portion of the keyboard wont respond). Will restoring the phone or updating the rom do anything to fix this? it is challenging because 9 out of 10 times i cant even slide the lock to unlock the lock screen. Thoughts? Thanks much.
EDIT: It may still be under warranty, but I'm assuming the crack on the screen has voided it?

[Q] Dead Spot on Screen???

I got the DNA on launch day and had not one issue with the touch screen. As soon as I Unlocked and Rooted it, one portion of the touch screen does not respond to touch. I used the pointer test in Developer settings and it just skips over the area. It is over the "M" key on the keyboard making it impossible to hit "M". Anyone else have this issue and is there a way to fix this as I feel this is a software issue, not hardware.

[Q] Screen hypersensitive ?!?

Hi!
My phone got a broken screen, but I got a replacement device from the insurance.
Trouble is, after a while with screen on the screen seems to become hypersensitive - it's nearly impossible to enter text through the display keyboard or just to zoom and move a webpage
After switching the screen off and back on again immediately it's OK again for a while.
Anyone else seeing this behaviour? I reckon it's a hardware problem, but maybe someone has a different explanation for this problem?

An idea for a possible solution for the flickering AMOLED displays

Hello everyone.. You might have that problem where your phone's screen (probably a samsung phone) flickers and goes crazy in low brightness settings.. I've done a lot of searching about the problem or a possible solution. The only working solution I've encountered, which is a software one and requires root, is setting the brightness slider on the lowest point that doesn't cause flickering, then, applying a black overlay to lessen the brightness. I'm wondering about the brightness control mechanism... is it based on hardware and software mechanisms?(case1*) or based on hardware only? (Case2*) In case 2: at least we can adjust the minimum current the phone delivers to the display in order to disable brightness settings that cause flickering. In case 1: we would do as suggested in *case1, plus, we would let the software mechanism kick in to lower the brightness when the hardware mechanism is delivering the lowest amount of current that doesn't cause flickering. It's just an idea.. applying it might be as easy as changing some values in the phone os somewhere or flashing a custom kernel!. But finding that change is what i don't seem to have a clue about.. I have a SGS 5 mini duos.. but i think it doesn't matter as the problem presists in other models (S5, J7) I hope I'm posting in the right forum And i hope someone will figure out a better solution and thanks for reading
Up..
