Sample photos please - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Could any Ultra Z user please post a few photos taken by the stock camera app and the best available 3rd party app? I want to see how big the improvement in image quality could be. Thanks.

Not the best test ever, just took 3 pics at work with A Better Camera, the stock 4.3 camera (at iso 50) and Pro Capture camera.
If you do a 100% the stock camera looks more detailed to me with less artifacts than the ProCapture and A Better Camera looks the worst.
Note that ProCapture and A Better Camera were done using their auto modes. All pics were taken with the phone on the stand to avoid any movement and all used touch focus (on the GE logo).

I posted the full size for you to be able to see it.
Couldnt find the thumbnail option in Imageshack since they keep changing things around!

[Q] Is there Camera App that takes pic without processing? Best quality?

Hi all, I'm new here and to the android world,
I have a Q:
I am coming from the graphic design and Photoshop and I knew few things about camera and image processing and after looking in the camera app on android I cant find good app that can just take a pic without processing! (sharpening, noise redaction, etc)
I wonder why no 1 made such app that gives the user option to take the natural photo prom the sensor without the stupid image processing algorithm!
I want the natural photo and edit it later in pro software (Photoshop)
Is the app like this?
I'm not sure if it processes images by default as it has effects that can be manually applied in post photography which might mean it takes pictures unprocessed, but I use a replacement camera app called camera zoom fx and it takes much better pics than my phones default camera app so it might be an option to try.
It also has more pre photograph options and modes such as burst and timelapse modes and more ways to control how the picture is taken such as metering controls.
Its not free but there may be a trial version. I bought it when android market had a sale offer on its top apps but its worth even normal full price.

Actually, I like the idea of RAW image format for Android camera. Is it possible?
There are a handful of great camera apps, some free, some not. I like to use Nemus camera, Camera effects ,and Fast burst, these are all free apps. The first two have some cool effect on them and the last app lets you take 30 shots per second. There is one called Camera Zoom FX that is 2 or 3 bucks. I haven't used it but I have read good things about it. Hope that helps.
If you are talking about app that takes no time and provide good quality selfie or pic. I recommend Camera 365 Beauty app...

Simply HDR app alternative

I was an iphone 5 user and made the switch over to the Note 2 recently. One thing I miss is this app called Simply HDR. It's a faux HDR that added some neat effects. I'm no photographer at all so I don't understand your basic photo settings which is why simply HDR was great because you could just choose a pre set and be done.
Does anyone know of an app that does pretty much the same thing, maybe one that I missed?
I have tried pretty much all apps i come across and the only one that comes close is HDR fx. Downside is it is way over done and the photos look over processed and terrible. There is also very few pre sets that create the desired effect.
Have you tried

Are you running a Custom ROM? The aosp cameras have an hdr function.

So far ive tried a lot of different apps. I like the best 'Fotor' and 'Camerace'. The best photo editor is either PicsArt or Aviary.

I purchased the following apps and have had great success with them.
You can see some photos taken with Pro HDR Camera on my Flickr @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/
Pro HDR Camera
HDR FX Pro (Have to play with the settings quite a bit to get the desired effect)
Perfectly Clear (Used to clean up images before sending to HDR FX or perform additional touch-ups after processing with HDR FX)
Pixlr Express (Used to clean up images before sending to HDR FX or perform additional touch-ups after processing with HDR FX and useful for resizing images)
You may also want to take a look at Vignette Camera and Camera FV-5. In my opinion, Camera FV-5 gives you the most control over the settings and pics.
Hope this helps

Hey im back... you can continue with life =)
Unfortuantely the only app that gets close to what im looking to accomplish was photo fx but it was way over processed looking. Ive got to spend time tinkering.
I got an email from the guys at Simplyhdr/JixPix and they plan in releasing simply HDR on android soon hopefully. Its not a natural hdr which most if the apps here seem to be doing actualy hdr function...taking multiple photos and stitching them together. Simlly hdr takes one and creates an hdr effect that seems more dramatic. Hard to explain.
try this...

do you have a sample pic of what you're trying to accomplish?
Just use a camera ... I mean if you are that picky about HDR settings on a cellphone..

Camera issues

I've been having problems with my camera pictures being very fuzzy. I see the thread with all the best Z ultra pictures and I can never get a picture as crisp as any picture in that thread. I can't ever get a picture a picture that isn't fuzzy. I had this problem since I got the phone and it was still on stock firmware and the bootloader was locked, I'm currently on carbonrom so it doesn't matter the rom. Both the front and rear cameras are like this.
Can we get a photo sample of the issue? Be sure to take the photo outside, and not in the dark. Also be sure to wipe your lens before using it.

Well I guess the outside pictures are a bit better but the inside pictures suck here's examples of both.

two things to improve the photos:
1. Install a 3rd party camera app that allows you to set things manually (i use "a better camera" and FV-5, the latter is a paid app)
2. Set the ISO as low as you can 50 or 100 if you can
Inside macro, still some compression artifacts/processing by no means the best inside but just a quick sample of what it can do

FV-5 is awesome, thank you for your help! Inside pictures are a lot better!

Z2 Best camera app? And best mod?

What is the best camera app that produces the best quality and resolution? Perfectly clear app has an option for 20mp resolution does it really do 20mp?
And there has been many camera mods that modify the quality which one do you recommend?
Stock camera
Sony block out the controls on third party apps so in terms of quality using the manual controls on the stock camera is the best way to go.
Not if you unlock your bootloader, in which case I think most other camera apps work better than Son'y camera.
I've tested Google camera and Open camera, and both gave good results and better than stock, on unlocked bootloader of course.

On Aosp/Cm based roms when controlling iso results in lag which makes viewfinder unusable...and in stock roms i guess procapture/open camera are the best since they allow you to use scenes in full 20mpx mode.

In my opinion, the stock camera is the best.
Although it normally takes photos in 8MPx (you can change that in kitkat) it has the fastest focus.
However you may try the HTC's camera (available in themes&mod section here).
It takes 20MPx pictures by default, but you can't really want more from a pic that the hardware offers.

How to have better camera on Oreo ROMs

TIP OF THE DAY
INTRO
If you don't like the camera's quality it is because the google camera app is not the best for the grand prime, actually this is the problem of all ROMs based on the pure android, isn't the image clear enough? does the image looks blurred?
I've been comparing my camera on android oreo with my another phone (both are the same model), one has the stock Android and the other one has the pure Android 8 and the differences are huge, how to work around this problem?
Well... I have researched and talked to devs about this and it turns out that the drivers of the camera are the same as the stock firmware, but the only thing what changes the quality is how the image is processed by the camera application.
So who's the one to blame? The camera app.
What is the solution?
The real solution is to use ROMs based on the stock ROM, i.e. touchwiz, but I have noticed that many people still prefer using the pure Android so this solution is not possible. There is still another way.
CyanogenMod camera and fine adjustments
That's what you read, with the 'old' Cyanogen camera app you can have better pictures.
First, install this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maartendekkers.cyanapps
It's called Cyan Apps if the link isn't working.
and then...
Choose 'camera' on CM's 13 sectionNote: Don't choose the CM 14.1 version because it crashes when you start recording a video or change to frontal camera.
Download and install it.
Adjustments
Open the camera and go to settings, drag down until the last options and turn off the Denoise option, then go to the sharpness and set to the level 0 (or do whatever you think is better) and go to the picture quality and set to it 100%. The rest of the options you can leave in the default level.
Optional
You can, alternatively, with root access make this a system application and delete the other one just to have only one default camera for your ROM.
In the images attached below I want you to pay attention in the sharpness of the image and the quality, I hope you don't mind if I'm a bad photographer.
UPDATE: I know the link is broken and the reason is because the Cyan Apps has been removed from playstore, I don't know why, but you know now the secret to make the image good-looking, you have to turn off denoise option which comes by default turned on in all Samsung cameras. Find an APP that can make this for you. Best Regards
Holt sh*t dude.. it fixed my camera quality. Now the photo quality can be compared to stock cam.
Although now the photos are a little noisy and kinda looks little bad on low light..but it's really good on places with light.

Low light is always an enemy for the camera
This WILL also work on Snap-based (that's the camera included on most AOSP ROMs) cameras.
