[Q] How to get the Photo Sphere option working on my Non-Nexus Android device? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Micromax Magnus A117. I rooted it today. I wanted to get a Photo sphere option on my camera so I uninstalled my existing gallery and installed the .apk file, that I found in one of the xda forums and now, although the gallery works and camera also work, but I can't find the Photo Sphere option in the camera at all. I have three options that is Panorama, camera and video, only these three options are there. Now I am not able to understand why this is happening. My android version is Jelly Bean 4.2.

[MOD]JellyBean-4.2,Camera

If you have been waiting for Android 4.2 Jelly Bean’s Camera Sphere port for Android 4.1, Ice Cream Sandwich, your wait is over as the Camera / Gallery app has been made available for download. You can download and install Photo Sphere apk on your device right now. However, be informed that it may not have all the features and we may still have to wait till Android 4.2 ROM becomes available.
Google announced Android 4.2 Jelly Bean a few days ago. One of the most awesome features was the Camera Sphere panorama mode that allowed you to take photos in 360 degree panorama mode. This feature, along with many other cool features like Gesture Typing, was made available for Android 4.2 Jelly Bean only. It may not work well on older versions of Android as it may have some dependencies on the OS.

Already know that and have taken the matter into my consideration it is because of gyroscope which is required for photosphere to work.will post an updated version

Issue with photosphere
I've a Xperia T and photosphere doesn't work for me
Ty for your job
Youll need to edit media_profiles.xml to add 640x480 and 800x480 mod because this way highest video resolution will be 352x288.

Photosphere Camera from JB 4.3 working!

I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340993
And i gave it a try on my Samsung Galaxy Camera with really good results:
I did install this manually on my Samsung Galaxy Camera (rooted Stock 4.1.2) by placing the so's and apk in /system/lib and /system/app folders and setting permissions accordingly and it works almost perfectly:
- taking photospheres result in much better pictures than the JB 4.2 cam (less stitching errors)
- no crashes after stitching if GPS is ON! (sadly 4.2 cam always FCd on stitching GPS Photospheres)
- Also taking topmost and bottommost picture improves the overall quality a lot!
Definitive worth a try if you're into Photospheres!
But on the donwside. the whole Gallery app freezes for me as soon as i view a photosphere and tap either the pencil (i guess editing photo comments or something) OR tap on the TinyPlanet button. After this the whole camera app is slow and extremely sluggy and unusable. Rebooting cures it.
At least the tinyPlanet was working with JB 4.2 here from the forum.
Just to clarify: This is just my experience - i did not create the package or something. I'm just a user! All thanks belong to victorator for giving us this package!
I haven't seen any serious problems yet, and I installed it as a regular app.
it does seem to have a few odd issues.
the camera is limited to 8MP, and the scene mode names are shuffled(no scene says night mode, party mode says sunset, etc.)

Yep, i can confirm this - removed the manually installed apps and libs and installed as normal app - works really nice.
Have the sam quirks you mention.
Thanks for your help!
@MaHoff you beat me to it
But for those wanting to install it with just the apk I have uploaded it here http://db.tt/L8DIRiHY
The file was originally available from the thread mentioned in the OP, but has since disappeared.
I have installed the APK on my camera, Note 2 and Note 10.1, all work with it fine, it will add another camera and gallery app to your app draw.

Hi people,
I'm searching for a camera app like the slimbean rom camera app
It has multiple focus mode and a nice interface. But i can't find any. I don't want to go back to slimbean and get that apk.
I even tried camera fv5 but it hasn't got a film mode.
So can anybody give me a .apk of the slimbean rom or a good camera app.
And for record i've got a
