[ISSUES/Q&A] Umeox x201, TrueSmart, AW-414/420 - Ornate TrueSmart

THIS THREAD IS FOR THOSE WHO ARE PLANNING ON BUYING ONE OF THESE WATCHES...OR USERS THAT WISH TO SHARE BUGS OR PROBLEMS THEY'VE ENCOUNTERED.
I'll start....
First off, what is the true RAM of the AW-420/1? Ive read up to 2gb (421) and as low as 512mb...
What is the issue with the 201/421s mic? Is it an hardware or software issue? If SW, does Loki's ROM address this?
I am seeing many comments that criticize the IPxx rating...even simple washing of hands will cause leakage....comments?
I read in multiple posts on German based forums that users were able to install 32GB and 64GB SD, class 10 cards in the 421 and they mounted fine. Has anyone confirmed this?
Does anyone know of a vendor or retailer that is willing to ship either the 201, 420, 421 etc. to the US?
Or....is there anyone in EU willing to help US buyers get these watch's delivered overseas?

i can confirm 32 GB installed and working fast with X201

The proper firmware version can be found by going to Settings/System/About. It is the bottom entry in the about. The current firmware is 20140120
EDIT:
fixed the firmware version. Haven't even had my fist cup of coffee yet, sorry.

root and security patch 1.02 on AW-420
Hi, I just tried to install lokifishs root and security patch 1.02 on my AW-420 FW 20131230, but this simply doesn't seem to work. While adb is running a lot of error Messages are displayed, saying either that files cannot be found or that they cannot be written.

Hi, I just installed the TalkBack Screen reading accessibility Service from the Play store, but the button to turn it on is simply missing. It seems to be positioned outside the TalkBack introductary message window, but also cannot be focused using an external Keyboard. My hope was that this could eventually be fixed by installing lokifishs root and security patch, but as I wrote in my last post that doesn't work on my AW-420.
I allready read that the Firmware of the AW-414/420 and also the TrueSmart do have issues with the accessibility Services, but couldn't figure this out more detailed. For me accessibility / using TalkBack is essential, so what can be done to solve this?
Many thanks, nilix24

TrueSmart microphone quality
The sound on my to smart for phone calls coming in is great. But when I speak it is just garbled and in audible to the other end. I have held the phone in various positions to little avail. This makes no sense because the voice recognition apps are able to follow me reasonably accurately. Anybody else had this problem and does anyone have any advice?
Also, how do I adjust up and down the volume of the speaker for example for phone calls but for other things as well.

Hi,
I have the same problem and it's very frustrating for me that' The watch looks beautiful and works well and I can not understand why there is a loud noise when I speak, I hope it's a software problem and the next versions will be resolved.
thanks,

Thanks, will try ASAP.
Here in Germany it is distrebuted by Pearl and they just have it on stock.

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, but it seems to be the most logical place.
Question: Is it possible to choose your home screen or your last viewed screen as default when you turn on your TS screen? Currently, when you unlock your screen, it goes to the watch. I would prefer it to go to my home android screen.

Thanks for your help with the watch face default screen.
I have one more issue I am trying to solve. I followed Daniel Ortiz's "GPS Calibration and Quick Lock Fix" https://plus.google.com/u/0/111628072657804333818/posts/5UyzcSadTmw
Everything worked as shown in the pictures, however, once I leave wifi, I still cannot get a location fix using GPS. This means I cannot use cycling apps, google maps, and the damn time is always wrong. :crying: Does anyone know what steps need to be taken after the GPS calibration guide to have GPS working properly?

To be honest, one of two things MUST happen.... Either we get the source and the dev community fixes...or we are given firmware that works. In regards to the BT and GPS, I think this is gonna be about as good as it gets.

Well the bluetooth is working great for me (thanks to all the developers on XDA who made that possible), and BT was the most important thing for me, so I can't complain. Of course, I wish Omate released a properly functioning product, but as a startup company, I do understand having these early issues.

I have to reset my headset a couple times a day. And my BT speaker has to be paired every time I use it. I don't have much need for the GPS, I feel the screen size hinders most of the apps I use.
Btw, It's not really Omate...the TS has many cousins....it's a combination of Umeox and MTK. Both parties have gotten dirty in this situation.

Good to know about the BT. I have yet to test the BT connection to a wireless speaker/headphones for an extended period of time. There were some posts in the BT tether rom thread that stated that using just the Ensec security patch and not the BT tether rom gave a more stable BT connection.

I'm using Operative. Super battery life...great 3G connection periods and signal. Stable and fast too. With all that the patch offers, I will live with the minor BT disconnects.
I wish that the onboard Mic/speaker get fixed. Without the headset, a SIM equipped TS is basically useless for calls. I've read that a few people have mentioned decent quality...but very few. I actually am quite surprised how bad the quality is for the caller. If needed tho, I found that if you cover the Mic while the caller is talking, this can reduce the echo and distortion.

Pairing a bluetooth headset
Hi,
I got a kickstarter model from eBay, and updated / flashed the ROM to 20140115.153703_V2.0.
On my Bluetooth page, there is no 'Scanning' option to pair a headset.
I can pair the TS to a phone, but not TS to headset.
I have the Omate headset.
Is there a ROM or patch to allow pairing?
I have tethering wrking, but that is WiFi, and i have had the companion working also.
I am now using as a full phone (sim card) and calls are ok, but would really like to pair a headset.

HD2 Mango [Beta1] PREVIEW[Download Link]

Ok...so for all of you who have been sending me PM's for the test build if its perfect or not. I shall post a small video to show you YES !! it is Mango Beta 1.
Download Link has been added at the bottom of the post
Couple of things to mention:-----
1) Its still Beta
2) The Marketplace doesn't work
3) HTC Hub doesn't come pre installed and also searching the marketplace
gives no results
4) Mango is said to support HTML5 but this build unfortunately doesn't as
shown us in the Mango HTML5 Speed Reading.
5) Nothing I can think of.....
By user: GameDr04
1) As with any unlocked phone, the APN isn't pre-programmed into the phone so it has to be added. It's a LITTLE annoying since T-Mobile has three from which to choose. All three show "3G" in the status bar but only one truly connects. It was epc.voicestream.com
2) Toggling the data radio causes the phone to freeze then reboot about 60% of the time.
3) As mentioned, the Marketplace doesn't work when you try to install something. But it does work for multimedia - I bought some music last night without issue.

Remember the fall release of Mango by Microsoft with more than 500 new features ??
backlashsid, I'd like to add to your list, if I may. I'm running Beta 2 on my HD2 at the moment. There are some additional problems.
1. as with any unlocked phone, the APN isn't pre-programmed into the phone so it has to be added. It's a LITTLE annoying since T-Mobile has three from which to choose. All three show "3G" in the status bar but only one truly connects. For me, it was epc.voicestream.com
2. Toggling the data radio causes the phone to freeze then reboot about 60% of the time.
3. As you mentioned, the Marketplace doesn't work when you try to install something. But it does work for multimedia - I bought some music last night without issue.
4. .....there was something else and for the life of me, I can't remember what it was! If I do, I'll post it.
Overall, I LOVE MANGO! The groups feature is amazing. And messaging: above and beyond. The whole OS just seems snappier.

thanks for the tip !!! i shall add them to the first post !!
Oh! I remembered! I can't seem to get MMS to work - at all. The messaging service just says "Can't sent. Contact your service provider for settings". I've tried all of T-Mobile's published APNs but none of them works.
//edit
OK. I figured it out.
I had to DevUnlock my DFT Mango installation through Microsoft (not with Chevron but rather legitimately). Then, I could side-load HTC's Connection Setup XAP. Running that solved my data and MMS problems.
Also, the DevUnlock allowed me to upgrade from DFT's Beta 1 to MS's Beta 2.
Happy testing!

To attempt to clear up the confusion around the beta number...
It's a little bit of typo mixed in with my buried hopes and dreams.

That was the e-mail I got from Microsoft a few days ago. I read that as Beta 2... Then, when I got my hands on DFT's release, I assumed it was Beta 2. But now that I've actually LOOKED at the versioning, I realized that DFT's is older.
What kills me the most is I CAN'T FIND THAT E-MAIL ANYMORE! I have that one picture 'cause I sent it to a friend of mine but the e-mail itself is GONE.

Hi, thanks for the review.
I'm interested to know if there is such a feature on Mango that would let me insert quick replies in the middle of a particular sms thread or conversation? And if there is any way to edit or create "reply" templates...
Thanks, would appreciate your feedback
I just looked and I couldn't find one. There's a chance it could be in there but I just couldn't find it...
It seems like in the video multitouch issue is fixed? Or is it still buggy as in previous version (Nodo)?

SBH 52

Just got my Sony SBH52 smart bluetooth headset today and wanted to share a quick review for you guys.
Retailer:handtec.co.uk
price: $109 includes 2 day express delivery via Fedex. I received it in a day.
Packaging:
comes in a palm sized box with a green front.
Whats in the box:
Headset
earphones
earbud tips
documentation
mini usb cable
Facts and Features:
i charged it for half an hour before using it. The device is solid and fits nicely in the palm. It has a small OLED screen capable of displaying text.
Main features are it is a dual accessory meaning the headset can be used to answer calls and listen to music without the earbuds as it has a mic and speaker.
It has built in NFC and FM receiver and is capable of TTS.
It has standard buttons pause, play etc and a unique back button which allows access to the device menu. the forward/reverse buttons are used to scroll and play button is select.
Pairing and access:
Since it has NFC built in, its a simple matter of turning on the NFC on the XUZ and touching the device to the back of the XUZ and voila pairing happens.
Once paired the device will ask you to download connect app for the device, and there are some other apps like text, calendar etc you can download.
Performance and battery.
Since I have had it for less than a day its hard to gauge the battery, but it seems decent so far.
Performance wise the controls are pretty solid, scrolling is decent, will take some time to check all the features.
Call quality is excellent. I used it without the earbuds like a mini handset and it was awesome.
Notes:
Its a fingerprint magnet and is advertised as water resistant not waterproof.
Attached are some pics of the device and box and screenshots of the management app

Update :after having it for a week I can say it is a pretty good device.the device is loud enough when notification arrive but in a loud area might be a little difficult to hear the device. Haven't tried speaking into the device when surrounded by noise.
WatchIt plays nicely with the device but make.sure that you select only needed notifications and ignore the rest. Battery life is good enough for my needs.
When on stamina mode I did notice that it did disconnect twice. I ended up adding the sbh52 app to the stamina app list.
Had some difficulties pairing the device today.had to unpair and re pair.
Please feel free to ask any questions or request for pics
Great !:good:
nice dude...thanks for the first review...
:good:
Nice one - look forward to some more updates...
ringer volume quality especially in crowded areas - can you hear the ringing clearly
incoming call quality in crowded areas (without headphones)
speaker volume quality during calls (During driving becomes an important factor)
multi device connectivity if any dropouts or stable with both simultaneously connected
and finally, when connected to two devices, does the small display show the name of the incoming caller (from contacts) or the number only?
Cheers

I Know you only have it for one day now, but, do you let it connected to your XZU all the time or do you paired it when needed (call for instance ?)
Does it drain the battery of your XZU if you let it connected ?

I've been playing around with it a bit as well. Haven't taken any calls or listened to music on it yet. I've sent notifications to it - but all i see is the app name. Don't see any additional text (first few words of the message etc). I'm sure there's a setting I'm not seeing...

That's good to know! Mine came through the post this morning as well so I've been playing around with it. It's actually a lot more functional than I thought it would be - really cool and useful device.
Hardly seems to be draining much battery from the ZU which is good, just FYI the earphones that came with the headset are terrible - but I can confirm it is just the headphones, I plugged some good headphones into the headset and it sounds the same as plugging the headphones straight into the ZU (So pretty good!)
The FB notifications are good, you can select news feed notifications just from specific people which I thought was good, haven't gotten round to trying the Watchit! app yet though, although not sure I'll need it.
Still yet to make a phonecall with it though, but music works well (ID tags work like a charm!). Not convinced about the micro usb charging flap though, see how that holds up over time.
sweet. I checked out the website you posted but it shows that it is still on pre-order. is that true or have they just not updated the status on that yet?
looks like they sold out

Does anybody know what the two settings are in the settings menu on the device? They have on and off options but the icons aren't obvious and the user guide doesn't cover the settings menu.
recieved mine too but I find a small problem , alll though not huge if speak on a call with it to my ears without using earbuds , the voice randomly gets transfered to handset and then back .... I am on stock no root...
I think I know the answer... But the sbh52 doesn't vibrate. Right?

Looks great!
I purchased. Very good. By far the best I've seen. Good application. Smartwatch Sony 3.

Thank you! Very pleasure for me! I plan to develop new features for this app in further updates.
This looks very nice, but I have a general question. What is the advantage of using a phone dialer on an Android Wear watch? Since there's no speaker, so you can't have a phone conversation on the watch and would have to dig out your phone anyway. I guess you could dial a call and talk on your Bluetooth headset, but I use voice dialing for that.

Good question. I wrote it to use with Bluetooth headset because voice dialing does not work cleanly for me for some reason (often call a wrong number). Also I don't like persuade my phone to make a call in a public place with my voice. I want simple choose a contact from the list When the phone is hidden under outer clothing (winter) or in a bag it's very convenient to make call with watch (as for me).

Ah, that makes good sense, thanks! I also have some contacts and businesses that voice dialing doesn't work well for. I just bought it and here's the link, in case others are having trouble finding it: Mod Edit: link removed

Thank you! :good:
So far so good! Any chance you could add a way to distinguish which number is which for contacts with multiple numbers? Just H, M, and W for home, mobile, and work would be fine.

You did it man, many thanks! I haven't played with it much yet, but it seems that if I click on a contact and then swipe it away, it goes back to the beginning of the list instead of where I was in the scroll. In other words, if I look at a Smith and swipe it away, I'm back at Adams instead of Smith. I don't know if that can be fixed or not. Overall, it's great!

I'll try to solve the problem with return to contacts list as soon as possible, actually I'm already thinking about it because it annoys me too)
Nice look! Purchased! One thing to note, I don't seem to be able to sync the call log from my Motorola Droid Turbo to my Moto 360. The colored wheel just spins. I even cleared my call log but no change. Still, a nice looking app!

Thanks for purchase and sorry for bug! I'll try to reproduce it and fix as soon as possible!
It seems this bug is reproduced rarely (on my device) when you come to the call log activity or to the contacts/favs activity for the first time. I'm working on this watch->phone connectivity issue now. I hope to solve it at next weekend.
A minor update will be available tomorrow which is mostly dedicated to tablets support.

I've noticed that myself from time to time. Sometimes when I first start the app, none of the buttons respond. If I close and reopen they work fine. Maybe it's just a delay pulling the data from the phone.

Yes, exactly. This is due to Bluetooth slow speed + sometimes reconnection between the watch and the phone. When a reconnection occurs it seems I may loose data so you need to reopen activity. But I hope to fix it soon.
PS It's late night here so I'm going sleep right now, bye
With this app, i can speak trought my wear device during a call?

Have you heard? 2016 Honda Pilot has an Android based radio.

I haven't find anything around the net yet. I did find out the new Pilot has a radio running Android. I plan on looking into this more when I have a moment at work. I'm a technician at a Honda dealer. If someone knows of any hacks I should try, let me know. I presume any updates will be done using a USB stick so that's probably the best way in.

Same here I want to know too I just got my pilot
Waiting on someone to come out with a root on the pilot radio. I'm a 16 years Honda tech myself and pretty tech savvy. I would love to root this system and have full control of the system. I have seen that Honda is coming out with their own app store so we will see.

For anyone wondering, its running 4.2.2. It looks you can integrate with the USB ports as there is a way to install APKs with a USB drive. I would probably use a one touch root app as the method to get in.
I just stopped by a dealership to look and was poking around and found the app picker which has a browser, settings, and install from USB apps.

I just finalized my purchase of a 2016 Pilot and will have it by the end of the week. When test driving, I did notice the option to install apps via .apk files from a USB. I forgot to see what the internal storage capacity of the unit was, but I can confirm that it runs 4.2.2. I also recall seeing that it was WiFi capable, but I will have to confirm when I get it. Either way, it was a nice bonus to see that the infotainment system was running Android. I'll post again with a few more details in case anybody else is interested.
***UPDATE***
Just in case anybody cares........................the Pilot is WiFi capable. I connected to my home network and the unit installed an update. As of right now, the ability to install any app has been disabled by Honda. Attempts to install an apk via USB and the android browser from APKmirror have been negative. According to a poster at a Pilot forum, he called Honda who stated that the ability to install android apps would be added as a later update. Fingers crossed it actually happens. Many of the system options are disabled so I cannot see the storage capacity or chipset of the unit. It definitely has potential though......
I just got a 2106 Pilot Elite. When parked close to the house it connects to the home wifi. Browser works. Im definitely going to look forward to apk install too.
I did a PDI on a '16 Accord and it is running Android also. I haven't played with it more than what was necessary. I'm sure there well be some kind of usb based update like the old radios.

If you head to Clarion USA website and then click the Get Support link at the top then Software/Update Download then on the left hand menu click the botton link for File Download.
All of the Android programs for the Pilot and Accord are available for download at the above link. I wonder if someone can figure out how to add CARPLAY from the Accord software to the Pilots
Does anyone have any updates regarding this thread? Still can't figure out way to get in. Thanks!
Found a few things.
Hi All,
I have a 2016 honda civic which shouldn't be too different from the pilot and accord. I had done some digging around a found a few things in the system. I have posted a link to the thread below.
(remove spaces in the link)

I found the secret menu but was unable to access the developer mode since it kept asking for a "passcord"........
Let us know if someone figures a way around this problem.
I don't really know what it is, but it sounds quite amazing
I'm also curious about this!

Getting access to the apps and widgets. along with potential android auto implementation would stick it to honda!

Any exploits in 4.2.2 that could be accessed through the web? Vehicle has full web browser capability through 4.2.2 browser just no access go app store or apps....
There is one or two that I know of that have some chances of working. They might require some adaptations however in order to work properly as the OS might have been modified. I'll drop by by the end of the week with an update =) .

If you need another person to test things I'm willing. I've been digging around and they locked us out pretty well. I tried using the browser to download and install an apk and it went through the process of installing and asking for permissions but then said "App not installed". There are also a bunch of apps installed that we don't see running and can't seem to access, interestingly some are labeled "Mitsubishi".

Q&A
Q: Can i use this APP with the Honor Flybuds 2?
A: No, they have their own APP. Since 13th of january, Freebuds 2 APP got updated to 1.0.0.121 and its basicly a copy of the FlyBuds App. I decided to support both. But keep in mind that i dont own the FlyBuds and cant test everything. If errors happen, please report here with a screenshot
Q: The package says it supports HWA Audio codec but i cant enable it.
A: In case of the Mate 20 Pro, you need to be atleast on Firmware 9.0.0.171 to be able to use HWA.
Q: How do i setup Bone ID Voice Recognition?
A: Honestly, no idea. It seems we need a newer firmware on our phone to have access to this feature. I will report if i get more informations.
Q: Does voice commands work?
A: Yes, music and calls can be controlled. Please check the manual on how to do this.
Q: The update of my Freebuds 2 keeps failing.
A: Keep trying, i needed 6 trys until it worked.
Q: Can i use my phones voice assistant instead oft he build in one?
A: Yes, once you activate, for example google assistant, the Freebuds 2 app wont show any voice settings anymore and all the settings has to be done inside the google app.
Q: Can i use voice comands to do payments?
A: As far i know, no. I am still investigating.
Q: I speak, for example spanish, can i make a translation into spanish?
A: Yes, PN me and i send you the string.xml. You can translate it by using Notepad++ for example and send it back to me. I will update the APP then 

Awesome work! Thank you! It was tedious using the translator to use the app each time.
Can anyone comment on music n call quality and does HWA/LHDC codec make any difference?
Please, anyone who has purchased freebud 2/pro, please share your experience on build, comfort, connectivity, audio quality etc..
So cool, thanks!

Try downloading it from your PC. I'm using Chrome with AdBlocker extension and the file does get downloaded at the first click on the download button, no popups, no ads. From the phone, I was flooded with ads as well.
I am waiting to get approval on androidfilehost. Will change it once done. Sorry

I received mine yesterday. Music quality is very good for me (I'm not an expert on this matter). Indoors, the connectivity is awesome. I haven't experienced any issues like sound skips.
Outdoors, I've experienced minor issues having my mobile in my pants' pocket and my hand covering it. But it almost never happened.
Regarding the HWA, I'm using a mate 20 pro LYA-L29 9.0.0.169 and I don't have the inbuilt options in EMUI 9. Waiting for the 9.0.0.171 update which I heard includes the HWA and, in some cases, in-built options outside the freebuds 2 app.
While calling, I have no issues hearing (outdoors) but the person on the line told me that she couldn't hear me very well (Cut audio). I haven't tested it indoors.
The headphones are very comfortable. It fits nice inside the ear so you don't really hear much outside noise at 55% volume. They don't fall easily. I've done some tests like shaking my head fast and running with them and they stay in place.
They feel well-built. They don't have that cheap plastic feeling. It's a shame that they don't have touch controls for skipping songs or changing the volume. On the other hand, they support voice assistant so you can say for instance "Play summertime by my chemical romance" and it will start playing without touching your phone.
They also have voice controls to turn up/down the volume, play/pause, etc.
Battery wise, I haven't used them long enough to drain the battery. I used them continuously for 1 hour and a half without issues. The case charges them so I haven't had the chance of draining them completely.
The wireless charge is awesome. I use the mate 20 pro reverse charge and it's very handy.
I think that covers pretty much everything. If you have any questions I can try to help

Updated to 1.0.0.121
Visually there are no changes. I still belive that we Need atleast 9.0.0.171 Firmware for some feature.
Maybe someone who has 171 on his Mate 20 pro and the Freebuds could confirm or send me some screenshots.
Specially if there are any Buttons for BoneID Settings. HWA Codec Settings are confirmed being there at 171 or higher.
