[Q] Only 2 Days for return (10.02.2014) - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hi Guys,
I only got 2 days left to return my HDX 8.9.
Every day, when I got nearly to this day I think about if the HDX is the right thing.
On one side it makes me happy to root, get Playstore working and so on, on the other side I am searching for the ultimate Tab.
7 inch is to small, 10 too big. So I searched for an alternative in the web.
But I didn´t find something similar to the HDX.
Hardware specs are awesome, 8.9 is really the best size.(for me, but 10 could be ok)
Samsung get the new Tab Pro out in March, too long to wait.
So if anybody out there could tell me an alternative to the HDX I would be happy.
Myself found:
1. Sony Xperia Z......too old, Display resolution too poor
2. Ipad Air.....hmmmm no Playstore.....and its a Apple
3. Samsung Note 10.0 2014.......I read about these hanging problem, specs are ok, but 10(size ok, if the Tab is really good)
4. Nexus 10.....too old, specs not
5. Nexus 7 ....got already
So I could get 600€ out for the best Tab.
Ma
Maybe somebody out there got the Solution for me.
Thanks for answers

The lg g pad 8.3 is a great tablet and has quite a bit of support.

I have the HDX 7 and I'm trying to decide what to do myself. It's such a great tablet, but the OS is horrible. I'm trying to figure out what I want next. The tabpro 8.4 interests me, but it looks pretty much like a side grade. Also, the battery life seems questionable with that 1600p screen. Then there are rumors of the nexus 8 coming out around April.

I'm in the same boat....I am leaning towards the LG G Pad. Full play store micro ed slot. I'm going to go to Best Buy and check it out...

The 8 inch Lenovo Yoga Pro tablets look pretty cool. Not sure about specs though.

Who need a Nexus 7 when you have a note

Hi everyone,
I must say, I am very interested in getting the Nexus 7. However, I already own a GNote that I love.
Anyone having both? What more can the Nexus 7 do than our beloved tablet?
Any feedback is appreciated.

A buddy of mine got one. If you like to game, it's pretty sweet. The Tegra3 chip is great.
Most of the gaming I do is on emulators, which the Note is very good at. So I don't need one.
yea , the note is holding me over for now as the tab never gets used here. Can't wait to see whatever the note 2 is because that will be the replacement for me overall on the tablet and phone side.
I have both. The nexus 7 was kind of an impulse by since there was only one left in my area. I have an iPad 2 and it's usage has dropped considerably since I got the Note. I figured a nexus 7 may be the ticket, especially since I'll just easily sell the iPad and recoup the cost.
So far it's been good. I love my Note but using it around the house leaves the battery in trouble whenever I go out. I'm a bit of a rom enthusiast as well so I find myself often turning to my Nexus 7 to kill time while the note is booting. Stock Jellybean is awesome and as much as I've flashed things on my note I've resisted even rooting the Nexus.
It really depends on your Galaxy Note usage, or in my case overusage. I was underwhelmed with the Nexus in my first half hour, it's more similar to the Note than the iPad is to an iPhone but I've turning to it again and again this last week. (I'm on summer leave sitting on my ass watching the Olympics so I've had plenty of playtime).
I have a le pan tab that is only used once every couple of weeks, i really have no need for it anymore with this phone

I have both. With only 2 more inches the Nexus 7 has quite a bit bigger screen. I watch movies and do email on the N7 and use the Note for Facebook and phone calls and the Wifi tethering.
Got my nex 7 and its great, for the price point is a fantastic device, I use them both oftenly and it eases battery life on my note

I have been contemplating the same.
But I fear I will not use the tab because of the note.
I own both and I am very happy with it. It is a great device and its really cheap too. Since its a Nexus device it has great development and it gains more every day. Using it has eased my Notes battery usage.
After flashing CM10 onto my note I honestly don't know that I have any complaints anymore besides battery life! Most of the benefits of the N7 are software IMO (and that wonderful-sounding NFC performance).

I had no intent on purchasing the Note, was going to wait for the Galaxy 3 at the time or possibly one of the new Xperia devices. A few days before i bought the note I decided to sell my tablet as i purchased the lg g-slate before looking on xda. Soon found out there was quite literally no developmentnt going on for it. There isn't even a forum on xda (or there wasent at the time) so my plan was to buy a new tablet and a new phone. Figured the note might, just might fill the void for both devices and honestly after owning the note for 4 months I have no need for a tablet. This phone is a beast, no regret what so ever on my decision to go with this device. I rarely even sit down at my pc's anymore, everything is done through my note.
Love this thing, its pretty much attached to my hand lol.

I actually had no intention of getting a note either. I had a log nitro for the screen until they forced a mandatory update and it killed my internet. I couldn't use data at all even at the beginning of the month. Bars were grey and only had 2 no matter where I was. Called att and after 4 hours of threatening and schooling them they finally transfered me to someone who could tell me yes or not cause I had just upgraded two month prior. I simply asked for an HTC one or something and att offered me a galaxy note my color choice along with an otter box. Received it 3 days later for free and haven't been happier.

I have the Nexus 7, Note, and new iPad. I really like them all and consider them to have different use cases.
Reading PDFs is vastly superior on the iPad (GoodReader probably plays as big of a role as the screen real estate). Kindle and EPUB books can be about as good on the other devices, and they are lighter and better suited for 1-armed operation.
Watching a video or browsing is great on the N7 as well, and you will definitely notice the screen size difference. It seems negligible (5.3" to 7), but I definitely appreciate it, especially since I've been completely used to the Note's size for a long time.
The Nexus 7's also relatively cheap but has great build quality and is fast, and it comes stock with AOSP (or at least no terrible overlay) and no bloatware.

Best tablet with least issues?

Hey everyone, I'm in search of a new 10" tablet.
Doing research, I've greatly considered the Nexus 10, Asus TF700, and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
The Tab 2 doesn't meet the specs of the other two, so eh.
I've also read of problems with the others, like the light bleed on the nexus 10, and random reboots on the TF700. Both seem to be pretty common.
Now, what would you consider to be a great 10" tablet, with few issues (at least compared to others), and $500 or under? Top of the line types.
I'm getting a crap ton of money friday, so im hoping to make a decision by then so any input is greatly appreciated!
Nexus 10 prolly the best atm. If u wait a few months for the CES lineup of tablets to go one sale, theyll prolly be worth it. Thats what im doing, as the google nexus 10 is supposedly getting a hardware upgrade soon.

Unfortunately every tablet has it's pros and cons. This almost comes down to personal preference as what one person might consider a problem another person would not

Currently have a Samsung 10.1 2014 ed, may switch

I bought a Samsung 10.1 2014 ed the other day and it is a nice device, however i am saddened by the lack of development that is currently has and that it wont probably in the future because of KNOX. I think my Walmart still has some Nexus 10s and i was thinking of going this route. I am huge stock android guy, currently running it since day 1 on my GS4. I have read reviews and things about browser lag but this was at launch and im sure rooting and running AOSP solves a lot of issues. I also don't feel like waiting for the Nexus 10 2 whenever/whatever that may be.
Any reason why I should not switch over to the Nexus?
EDIT- Now i'm seeing the LG G Pad 8.3 ....

Well the note 2014 seems like itd be better to me. It's got the s pen for notes and more ram. The gpad 8.3 is a good choice if you don't mind the smaller size. They also have a Google play edition so you'll have such android. I would switch for a gpad 8.3 if I could just to try something new though I'm perfectly fine with my nexus 10. With KitKat it's nice and smooth and everything works great for me.

I'll never use the S-Pen unfortunately. Now i'm really torn between Nexus 10 and LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition
I had a Note 10.1 2014 for about 12 hours but sent it back, it had a malfunctioning backlight that's too common. I was going to root it, Knox or not, after a few weeks once I had established the hardware seemed ok so it was less of a risk voiding the warranty. I returned it and decided to go a used N10 route.
I didn't think I'd use the S-Pen, and upon playing with it more I pretty much confirmed it. I thought that, even not using the S-Pen, the specs themselves were worth the upgrade over the Nexus 10. And, if you're not afraid to root and take out a ton of the crap, run a different launcher, it may actually be. But I have fairly sharp eyes and could see the Pentile subpixel arrangement, and after already being indecisive about dropping that much on a tablet I was going to ruin the warranty on, it just was too much.
As an alternative to Walmart you can go the Amazon route. They have been up and down on their prices and were generally at the $400 mark until pulling back up to $450-ish. I know our Wal-Mart still has the Nexus 10 at full price, so going the Amazon route would save you a little bit of money. As I posted in another thread, if you're willing to go used you can get a far better deal, usually in the low $300's for a 32gb version.
There is also the Asus Transformer TF701. It has its own list of shortcomings but might be a viable alternative if you don't think you'll be bothered by them. It's priced new at $430 now.

thanks for the very helpful reply. I do have mine rooted but i am going to unroot it today and set the counter back to 0.
If you look at reviews like android authority they seem to think the lg gpad is the best tablet ever made though a bit expensive for its size range.

Just picked up my Nexus 10....definitely like the Note better.
I told you the note would be better. It has better specs and it's newer. The only thing bad about it is touchwiz. But it's also costs much more than the nexus 10 (100 dollars right?) So you should probably switch back unless you want to try the lg gpad which looks really appealing

I am going to return it to Walmart today, it was $499 for the 32gb, they didn't have the 16gb. But yes, the LG GPad GPE looks so sexy, but i was on an iPad mini yesterday and i don't think id like the smaller screen. Think i'll stick with the note.

Well that's good choice. How big is the I pad mini though? I don't think the 8 inches is too bad. You can try checking out the normal lg gpad at the store since they're the same mostly besides the software.

Ipad mini is 7.9. For me, anything between 4.7" (or other reasonably sized phone screens, reasonably doesn't include 5.5+) and 10" is a waste of time IMO. I had the OG N7 for almost a year and liked it for playing games because it was easy to hold. Other than that, I hated it. The screen is entirely too cramped and I might as well just be using my phone. The 8" tablets are only moderately better.

[Q] Galaxy Tab S 10.5" WiFi or Nexus 9 WiFi?

Hi, I live in Mexico and Im about to buy a tablet this black friday for school. But I also play some games like Asphalt, Clash of Clans and Dead Trigger 2.
I know that the Nexus 9 has issues with the display and applications not being optimized, on the other hand if I buy the tab Ill get a beautiful display and better optimization for apps but crappy internals, I have a Nexus 5 and my past phone was a Nexus 4, I can survive Samsung's lack of updates since I'll get to try them right away from my Nexus 5. Is the Nexus 9 really worth it? I need it for school and it'll be my first tablet.
I know this is a bit silly to ask in the Nexus 9 section but hey, if it wasnt worth paying the price Im sure you guys will let me know Thanks in advance!
PS: Right now the Tab S is around 380 USD in Amazon and Nexus 9 420 for the 32 GB version.
Give me your opinion on which one should I buy or which one would you buy if you could decide again between Tab and Nexus! Thanks again!
Sorry about my English, it isnt my native language
The Nexus will serve you well for the coming year.
Productivity related activities, the N9 with its 4:3 screen will be better especially for your work.
Like you said, the Tab S has a Super Amoled screen which makes videos and colours very very pretty.
But for your work, N9.
Not to mention since the N9 and Tab are about the same price, why not get the one with better internals.
I had the samsung galaxy tab s and was not satisfied with it. Touch wiz blew the whole experience to hell, it was like having an really old tablet with wonderful display.
If you watch a lot of media then probably 16:9 (samsung) is preferrable but 4:3 (nexus) is more comfortable when browsing the web.
Touchwiz is terrible, which means that you'll be forced to ROM it and void the warranty.
Internals are outdated compared to the N9. Despite it being an 'octa-core' it's still slower in multi-core benchmarks than the dual core K1 in the N9.
^also s tab is older chipset is older and the s tab runs a higher resolution
Tab S would be great if it wasn't for the Exynos chipset and Touchwiz. I'm also not a fan of capacitive buttons, especially on a tablet with fairly small bezels as they will be accidentally activated.

[Q] I want a 7" Phablet.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a "premium" 6.5"- 7" inch phone/tablet.
My particular use of my Oneplus One is as a tablet such as reading and web browsing. I also have a Samsung Tab S 10.5 Tablet.
I'm would like to go to one device to satisfy my needs.
USA GSM networks are a must such as AT&T , Cricket wireless.
Thanks for your input
I only have 3 tablets, and they're not all in my possession at the moment.
The one I like is a kindle fire hd.
I always look here first.

They exist, I saw an article on phonearena about them this year. Don't remember what any were though.

I use myself tab 4 7.0 wofo only and device is great and getting lollipop in few weeks! Fits in pocket and long battery life if you dont play games that use 100% cpu
Great suggestions so far thanks.
I guess I want my cake and ice cream too.
I'm trying to get at least 3gb ram, LTE 4G , HD screen, 16 plus GB storage,Lollipop would be a plus, and a decent camera.
So far anything close to my dream device is Mainland China only. I like it here in Florida .
The Huawei Mediapad 2 would fit nicely if only it would come to the US.
