hey nice review overall, i can see that the way you use your fingerprint scanner is wrong and that makes you say that it is a gimmick. you might want to check out the other video on busting the fingerprint scanner myths on max.

I just checked out the video you mentioned.
1) To be honest I disagree with the man. I personally hold the phone so that my pinky is below the bottom part, which prevents it from slipping out. For me that is the natural way of holding the device and when holding it in that way I can't comfortably reach the fingerprint scanner.
2) The second thing that I didn't like was the lack of functionality to lock access to certain apps, photos etc which would have been a very nice feature to be used with the fingerprint scanner.
3) I personally only used the fingerprint scanner for a while, as it seemed pointless to me.
Thanks for watching and I am glad that you have enjoyed my video

[Q] Possible to flash Samsung Camera on top of AOSP ROMs?

Hi, just wondering if it's possible to flash the original samsung camera on top of AOSP or AOKP ROMs? I dislike the AOSP camera as it doesn't have features that I want on the samsung camera, for example panorama and taking photos while video recording. Thanks so much!
unfortunately not as the camera relies on tw framework

the simple answer/solution is to use dual boot and have Samsung Rom as secondary, only takes about 45 seconds to boot from one to the other

[Q] Sony Xperia Z2 Album update problem?

Has anyone experiencing this problem, when my Album updated I can't use photo which I took with my Z2 ( superior auto mode 8mp) for background without a massive crop. This is example picture. Only this which is marked in square will be on background all this shaded black won't be on background. Before that last album update it asked me to crop pictures before setting them on background but not this much. Also is there any app which does not need croping before setting picture as background because if it's taken with my Z2 why it can't fit on home background?
That's weird, are you on KitKat?

Real HDR on Youtube? Miui 8.11.15

ignore this publication, it does not have HDR
Just install Miui 8.11.15 and play a video on YouTube with HDR, I do not know if it is a "placebo" effect But I think I see real HDR.
we know that the panel or display of the phone is not hdr10 compliant but they did map the color correctly form 10bit to 8bit so it can be played with good colors not washed up colors
and the result is flawless simulating best hdr experience .. nice job .. but i dont know if this is pie or miui
---------- Post added at 01:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 PM ----------
but on the other side hevc 265 hdr 10bit video files playback on mi video is stuttering right now ????!!! very strange it worked flawlessly before .. these hevc files plays flawlessly on sd 835 mobiles ??!!

Google Pixel Camera Port working

As the title says the Google Pixel Camera app Port is working on the LG GO even with it's snapdragon 855
Go to this thread and download the newest apj and try it out.
Been playing with it ant it seems like everything is working but I'm sure tweaks will make it even better.

Yeah I checked this out after reading your post. The apk installs and runs but everything does not work. For me the main use for gcam is the portrait photos. When I go to that mode the app freezes on the last image the camera captures. Hopefully they update the app to work fully with the G8, one of the many things I'm missing from my V20

I am in the same boat as you.
Anyone have any luck so far with another GCam....I was thinking of trying this version. The non wide angle lens.

The one originally posted here keeps crashing on my tmobile G8, and was pretty slow to respond when shooting. Ah well, I look forward to further updates.
Probably a long shot, but does anyone here have a G8S (not normal G8) AND managed to find a GCam port that works? I don't have the phone yet but I don't wanna go through all the existing GCam ports when I get my hands on it lol. Already did that once with another device.
EDIT: for those wondering, I found Arnova's 1.6 version seems to be working well on my G8s. Some pictures have quite a bit of noise in low light conditions but I guess that's because of the inferior camera (compared to the regular G8).
Probably the best port of the Gcam for the G8, all modes work and the color reproduction is good, I don't think there is a better port than this.

Do you have any photo samples from the port? I am considering getting a used G8 from eBay and camera is holding me back.
I will not give you examples but a description of the camera.
In general, the original application of the Lg camera offers a photographic quality that I consider 8/10 or 7/10 with colors relatively related to reality, however, the gcam gets more details in exchange for slightly attenuating the photo.
I have tested the front camera with the application of both cameras and I have concluded that the portrait mode has been improved with the Gcam, obtaining more details and blur quality

In general, I could recommend the LG G8, it has a good battery life, a good screen and a good camera, but if you want a somewhat better camera in exchange for increasing the price, not having the Snapdragon 855 nor having the face id With function in the dark, I definitely recommend the Galaxy s9.
Psd: excuse my english

I'm not using that version but it should be the same thing as on the one I'm using, you just have to enable AUX camera in the GCam settings then you have to long-press the button that changes between back camera and selfie cam.

Long pressing opens the settings menu. I'll give another version a shot. I was using Arnova's but it kept force closing.
It is the perfect working version "xcam beta11"
So what do you guys think about the difference comparing to LG`s app?

Yes, that version works perfectly, I left most things unchanged in the settings, disabled flash and voila its almost ZSL
Just got one problem, some pics are a bit cold compared to stock, not sure how to optimize it in settings.

The download link doesn't work. How about you post the apk for us?

Adobe Photoshop Camera

A new camera app from Adobe with AI and filters that looks very promising.
Unfortunately in the Playstore its not yet compatible with the N7plus.
Maybe someone found the APK and tested?
Found it on the APKmirror its working.
Scenery enhancer works nicely, most stuff is for selfies, many extras. give it a shot.
what about the output quality?
Is It just another cam , or is it a good GCam alternative?
---------- Post added at 07:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:17 PM ----------
I can answer by myself after trying it.
Just a regular camera with some artistic effect. If you're interested in partialar backgrounds or bokeh effects, it's a good product,
If you simply want quality pics, stay with GCam 100%.
P.S. I noticed that my N7+ was very hot in processor area while Adobe Camera was in use.
Maybe it requires big effort from processor to apply high quality effects on pictures, and this explains why it's not available on Google Play.
Ok but gcam is buggy ...
That's sadly true.
I really don't know if there is a camera app that could really improve the quality of N7+ pics.
I've tried many: opencamera, better camera, fv-5, even dslr camera pro.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I noticed that most of the best features of those apps are not working on N7+. For example, there's no way to increase manually time of shutter. And so on.
At the end, it seems that the quality is less or more the same we can see with the stock app.
Difference with gcam is huge.
Back to Adobe Camera, I'd give it a try if it had a few more options to set up. I'm not much into fancy filters, but I'm interested in white balance for example, or taking realistic color pics at sunset.
Try killercam Revolution from Raznoptid. It has configs for nokia 7 plus. (Not the best configs, but you can imput some tweaks after).
This app is not my thing. Gcam + Snapseed is better for me.
