my i9300 can't be flashed! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm trying to flash my samsung with the new android 4.3 but it keeps
Go back to the original firmware no matter what firmware I flash it with
I've tried 4.0.1 official firmware (which was originally on it)
And the new 4.3
And that happened after I took it to samsung services to solve a problem happened in it
And they flashed it with the EGY firmware
Does anyone know why it keeps going back to that firmware?
And by the way I could root it normally and used it for about 2 weeks
Thank you very much for your help
Sales code : EGY
Bootloader version: I9300XXEMD3
Baseband version: I9300XXEMA5
PDA version : I9300XXEMD3
CSC version : I9300JVEMC1
thank you in advance

How and what are you flashing .

Flashing the official firmware I9300XXELL5_I9300OJVELL2_KSA android 4.3
And this supposed to be the official one for my phone
flashing it by Odin3 v3.09

If it reverts to original then either flashed file is faulty user is not following the instructions or phone is damaged .

Mmmm, flashed file is faulty no way because I've tried a couple of files
The user is not following instructions no I'm following it
The phone is damaged how it could be?? Like what is the damage?? Because I got the phone recently from samsung services after i had a problem with the imei and the phone works great

Maybe the Rom is not flashing properly. Phone should be "USB Debugging" enabled. Then please make sure you are selecting the md5 file in PDA section of Odin and also make sure that the phone is connected in Download mode (Power+Home+Vol Down - and then press Vol UP from the screen). It will show a blue color in COM section.

About odin, yes you can flash the firmware and your phone will work normally. Rooted does not matter for odin.
But if you are rooted then OTA update will not happen because Samsung will detect that you modified (rooted) the software.

Yes, your phone is ok. Maybe there was some confusion before about why firmware was not flashing. But it was same firmware so nothing wrong with your phone.

[Q] Samsung GT-i9100 Generic Firmware

Hello, I'm a nOOb. Please be patient and understanding towards me.
My Kernel version is:
2.6.35.7-I9100XWK14-CL575468
[email protected] #2
Please can anyone tell me if that is generic firmware or branded?
The reason I ask is because I purchased the handset from a business seller on eBay who has assured me that the handset is unlocked with Samsung generic firmware.
I want to make sure so that I am able to update the software to ICS this month.
Thank you.
Call *#1234# and tell us what phone, pda, you have.

Looks like you have a Car Phone Warehouse CPW csc on there.
Don't know what is included with a CPW phone but the branding/bloatware is usually in the csc.

Their is no such animal as generic firmware .
Branded = providers branding and other stuff.
Unlocked = not locked to a network .
As said thats CPW firmware .
It can be replaced by stock Samsung firmware for your region .
Providing Kies recognises the phone for updates you should get the ICS release when CPW update .
Connect the phone to Kies and see what it says .
jje
It means it's a Car Phone Warehouse branded phone as far as I can tell from all the way over here.
If you are interested in flashing generic then I recommend XWKK5 from intratechs official firmware thread. Flash via Odin. All instructions are in his thread.

KIES says I have the latest firmware. I will wait until CPW release the update
There is no such thing as generic firmware. What you are talking about is the standard unlocked model firmware.
Firstly check if your phone is network unlocked (search up the code to type in) and then use odin to flash back to 2.3.3 which you can download off SamMobile, if you want to know the exact version, ask me and I can find out as I already have the ROM (remember to do a factory wipe afterwards). Then once you flash that, plug your phone into kies and update to the latest and you'll be able to get ICS when it's released. Job done!

1st off kies is rubbish. Get used to Odin if you are thinking of flashing.
By generic I take it as no Telco added bloatware.
You can use an app called checkfus to check what is the latest for your Telco/carrier regardless of where you bought the phone or what firmware is installed. Then from the link I gave you download and flash if desired.
Good luck with whatever way you go with it.

Edit: checkfus is CHECK Firmware Update Server. There is an app on the market to check and a web site to access the downloader which is used on your pc.
Been trying to upload kk2 for Optus but am having problems.
Might be quicker for you to follow this link and download it from them.

[Q] SGS2 Stock Firmware Phones4U

Hi,
I have a friend who bought his SGS2 from Phones4U (UK).
He has updated it via ODIN to an unofficial firmware version but didn't bother checking what factory version of firmware was originally on the phone.
And now, yep, you guessed it he wants to revert back to factory so that Kies recognises his phone and will update through the "official route".
Does anybody know what version of firmware from the samfirmware site is the correct one for phones4u users here in the UK?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Luke.
As this is my first post I can't link an image from my KIES.
Not sure if this is what you are really after but here goes.
PDA:KIA4/PHONE:KI1/CSC:KH2 (XEU)
Thanks for that info. Looks like he may need to download one of the XEU firmware versions...
Will get him to give it a go and report back.
Thanks again!

Yep but it doesn't state which firmware represents Phones4U which is the problem as my mate didn't bother taking note of the factory firmware version that originally came with his device. Judging by the previous posters details on his phone (purchased from P4U) he needs an XEU (Europe) version so he's going to give one of the three European versions on there a go later.

Probably not a bad move. Once he flashes a stock ROM, he can update through Kies.
It could only be a problem if (big unlikely if) something goes wrong with the phone and he has to send it in for service, and then if the service people check the records (which is also not likely, if there's an official version of firmware and "custom counts" = 0).

Don't you need to be correct in the ROM selection for this to work though? I.e. if you put the wrong stock ROM on, Kies will recognise your device but will tell you that it does not support the version on your device (something along those lines).

Hi,
but I have the same problem
I've bought an unbranded/open SGS3 in Austria with specs
AP: I9300XXALEF
CP: I9300XXLEF
CSC: I9300ATOALE3
A few days ago I rooted via CF-Root 6.3 & Odin.
Yesterday I got a message saying there's an OTA update, which I tried to install.
So the phone reboots, the progress of the update is displayed (Android robot standing there), but it stops at 30% (Android robot lying down with a red triangle) and the phone reboots again. Then it says "Update failed, please try using KIES"
Of course I tried afterwards using KIES, but KIES tells me "Firmware upgrades are not supported for your device". WTF?
I don't know what to do now
The OTA reminder keeps nagging, but I can't install the update. I also thought that CF-Root 6.3 supports OTA (and for most of the people it does), but not for me...
Do you have any tipps for me?
I'm a beginner, using android for 5 days now :fingers-crossed:
I have the same problem, the update failed. I read about the new CF-Root version and installed it, but now it says there is no new firmware update available. How can i get the device to download the update again?

Same, using USB , installing CF-Root for SGS3 v6.3 didn't helped too.
Well, after having no solution to this problems I flashed another FW and now the OTA update (and root) is gone.
I hope that when the next OTA update appears (and I'm rooted again) the problem won't be the same again

Latest CF root should enable OTA updates .
But from experience with SG two routes XDA or official dont mix and match .

I've managed to root my phone via CWM.zip and using the SU-Busybox.zip ... now im not too sure what to do next to sim unlock. I've tried all the sim unlock programs from the market but they dont seem to work.
I dont want to install all these flashy things and wish to keep everything stock if possible.
Currently im using ICS 4.04
PDA : I9100BVLPH
PHONE : I9100BVLPE
CSC: I9100TMULPH
Thanks All!

Do these work on the ICS I read they only work for gingerbread ?
would sim unlocking have any effect updating via kies again when Jelly bean gets released ?
Thank you
I was able to get the phone unlocked using the following app.
See the following Link and download the .apk file and install it on your device. But make sure you have rooted phone.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34187077&postcount=685
After you install it then you run it and there is a small gray bar at the bottom you just press that phone unlocked and you restart the device. Everything works fine. It worked for me I hope it works for you as well. Even if u have tried the same app before i suggest you still try the one on that link.

The second one works on GB/ICS/JB. I can confirm it works on JB as I recently used it after installing latest leaked JB sammy rom as that was sim locked.

Unlocking has got nothing to do with updates, firmware does.
If kies sees you're rooted, might play hardball with your device.
Why people keep updating via kies? What if power goes off?
And who waits for branded updates to roll out????????????
I'm kidding, it's your right to do so.

[5.1.1][ROM][sm-a310f][twrp][DOWNGRADE]

I've seen a few questions about downgrading from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 and that odin won't allow it.
It's because of secure bootloader, that won't allow downgrade of binary version.
I've made a flashable zip for twrp of the latest 5.1.1 released with csc NEE. (because thats my region)
This will leave your current bootloader version and baseband version, compared to the odin file.
I just did some very light debloating of some microsoft crap as far as I can remember. Maybe some google app as well, like hangout.
No root added, no tweaks, just pretty much stock. Edit: Forgot to mention it's deodexed and zipaligned.
Thought I could share it if anyone needs it.

Nice work! Can you do the same for 6.0.1? Since 7 came out I'm stuck there and can't downgrade.

Hi, thanks.
Since the last MM update, our bootloader got upgraded to binary 3. Same as Nougat.
It should be possible to downgrade with odin using one of the latest released MM firmwares. One that starts with A310FXXU3.
Don't forget to back up data and factory reset before you do, otherwise you'll probably end up in a bootloop problem.

Not possible unless you modify the .tar.md5 by removing the .bin files in it, then tar it up and flash in odin.
The secure bootloader (sboot.bin) won't allow the downgrade of itself. Needs to be left at U3.
Modem (modem.bin) must also be left at U3, because downgrade modem to U2 while keeping the U3 bootloader will leave you with unknown network or IMEI loss untill upgraded again.
Same with cm.bin. It needs to be left at U3 afaik.

Thank you, that worked!! I'm surprised myself because I had tried it before with only sboot.bin removed and it had failed. Now the flash went through seamlessly.

Hi. Do you need specificly that firmware or you just want to downgrade from Nougat?
If you need to downgrade from N, here's also a newer 6.0.1 for ZTO, A720FXXU2AQFA which I think should work for downgrade.

Many thanks for sharing! I've tested this one as I wanted just to take a deeper look at 5.1.1 on A3 2016 (My phone when unboxed immediately started upgrade to 6.0.1 so I did not have much time to play around with 5.1.1). I am quite surprised with the performance. The 5.1.1 is surely a beastie. Unfortunately I've got used to some Nougat features (reply from notifications, centered lockscreen "big" clock, quite powerful doze mode saving a lot of juice from the battery) and decided to go back to 7 which I use currently as a daily driver.
link update
hi guys please link update 50kb/s :crying: :crying: please plase emergency
French ?
A big thank you for your post and your work. If I put in place your NEE file, would I have the firm in French? It's good with TWRP that we put in place?
I do not understand a word of English and have to go through a translator.
Thanks again

Hi. Yes, flash it with twrp. French language should be included.
Added mega mirror. AFH seem to have problems lately.
Hi!
Thanks a lot for this stock rom!
The battery life and speed it's better than nougat.
But I have a question, can you make the same stock rom based on 6.0.1?
I don't have a PC to extract a rom from firmware, and I searched a lot a flashable stock 6.0.1.
Sorry for my bad english and thanks again!
help!! help!!
Can you do for the A710f? Please??
