[Q] GPS signal is zero -- SOLVED - Samsung Galaxy S 4 Zoom

My GPS signal reception is very poor. Basically it's zero.
Anyone else having this issue? Yes i've checked all the obvious problems. The GPS is on. etc, etc.
Update. SOLVED. Hardware was broken. New phone and now signal is just fine. Don't bother updating or formating. Just get it replaced. All is well now

Maybe try so gps configuring program, like fasterfix.

Thanks for your help. Turns out it was broken hardware. I was able to get the phone replaced with a new one and now the Signal is perfect. Will update my post.

I'm glad to hear that, but who the hell uses a camera to navigate? Hehehe

[Q] Bad WIFI reception, driver or hardware issue?

Hey guys,
I do got some issues with the WIFI reception on my gtab. The signal is always very low and weak. I tried every rom, even did an NVFlash to go stock but that didnt help either. I did put carbon stickers on the whole device though, can that have any impact? Are there more people with this problem and if so have you got stickers on the device? Please let me know, thanks in adance!!
Peace!
After submitting this post my connection dropped which it also does more often.
Anyone has a clue?
3sade,
I actually had this same problem about 2 weeks ago. I would be directly over my WiFi AP and had a weak signal (2bars) no matter what ROM I used. I called up GTab support (310) 228-4000 and opened a RMA with them. Despite what's I've read in other posts, support was very nice and willing to help for me. They will tell you that you'll have to remove the carbon stick from the device and restore it to the stock ROM. That part sucks but when I got my gtab back (14 business day wait), it is in better working condition then when I sent it to them (the screen is more responsive, seems less sluggish with the stock ROM).
I don't know if this is what you were hoping to hear, but I thought I would pass it along.
I'm sorry to reply to an old thread but I've just recieved a hannspad sn10t1 which I believe has similar if not the same hardware as the GTab. I'm having the same issue with wifi connection, if I actually touch it to the router then I might get 3 bars! I definately cant leave the room and still be connected.
Have I got a faulty unit or is there a software or settings fix? By the sound of this its a hardware fault but I'd rather try and find a fix first.

Most definitely a hardware issue. It sound like your antenna is not even connected at all. I would contact the manufacture for a RMA. If not crack it open and find the antenna

[Q] Weird GPS problem - it only works after I run GPSResore

I used to be a T-Mobile customer with my Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S. I unlocked the phone and went to ATT. Everything worked great except the GPS. So I searched on this forum and downloaded GPSRestore Samsung. When I run it, it gets hung up on trying to find the satellite and fails. But I discovered a workaround by accident. I was trying to Navigate to a place using Maps and it was hung up trying to find the satellite. During that time, I ran GPSRestore, and as usual, it hung up trying to find the Satellite. But the GPS in Maps started working! The next time I tried to run Nav on Maps, it wouldn’t run until I ran GPSRestore again! Can anyone point me to a permanent fix for the GPS? Oh BTW, I upgraded to 2.2 thinking that would fix the GPS but no. Thanks everyone.
Look in general chat for "correct hardware fix" and in development section for Jellet's gps fix. With those powers combined they are captain planet.

I do not think its a hardware problem (not in this case) because the OP did say he went to AT&T and as far as I know, there are different drivers for AT&T and T-Mobile. If anything, try going on the captivate forums and swapping out the GPS files (don't flash a whole captivate rom though!).
Have you used lbstestmode? There are other software fixes out there besides gpsrestore? You could put a PLASTIC piece of a pen top between your back cover and the gps antenna. That would tell you if the hardware fix would work for you. There is a good thread here about all the different gps fixes if you need it I can give it to you when I get home.

[Q] Is the GPS working right?

I had the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (American Version) and I loved it! However I was never able to use the GPS functions. It was kinda annoying but the phone was worth it.
I am thinking about getting the new version but this time I NEED the GPS to be working well. I have been trying to find info about it but I am still not able to find the right info.
I am playing Golf and I just started a course to get my Driver License so it will be nice to have something to guide me around places that I dunno .
Cheers!

yes the gps need few moments to lock in. after first lock its only need an about 5-6 sec to relog again. No issues at all with GPS - its working perfect. if u will have the phone and u will search for gps navigation send me a pm and i may have something for u (sygic). u cant go wrong with this device
Well I had the Galaxy I and it was so bad I returned it after a month. I've been testing the Galaxy II for 3 days now and so far all the GPS tracks I've recorded have been pretty good. It appears to hold on to locks quite decently (unlike the SGS 1) and is a lot more accurate.
It's no reference GPS unit and no geocaching wonder, but it appers to be good enough for driving navigation and pretty "common usage", which is a lot better than the Galaxy I, a GPS disaster.
mine isnt very good!!
i get 20 meter accuracy with a-gps where at the same time my friends Arc gets 5-7 meter accuracy with gps only
Very good no complaints .

Same problem.
Normally, my SGS2 gets 8-20m accuracy while HTC phones get <5m always.
Thanks guys! I have got myself this beauty about 2 hours ago. I have tried the maps app and its working. So far only with a crappy wifi signal and with my 3Gs connection that seems to be working kinda odd (it goes off and on and then for a while it appears and H as internet connection).
So far with the crappy wifi connection (about 50 meters away in another building) I am getting a lock with 30-40 meters. And with the 3Gs was the same however, the connection keeps changing to H while trying to get a lock. I have tried just about 3 mins ago with 3gs and I was only getting 800 meters .
So it seems ok but completly perfect. if I start to get locks over 50mts I should exchange the phone, right?
Cheers
whats the "Use sensor aiding" for? Does it helps? or its useless ?

I think it uses Wifi + GSM network to help triangulate

GPS loosing signal even before rooting?

Hey guys I have been experiencing some kind of issue with my GPS while navigating either with google nav or telenav.
The thing is that I keep loosing signal and this cause my turn by turn to be very difficult.
This never happened with old EVO even with poor signal.
This happened before and after rooting so the problem is not rooting process or custom rom (I'm using Mik/Chogardjr's btw)
Anybody has an idea of what could be wrong with my phone?
And guys, this is general so no flaming for that and I did searched with the XDA app and didn't find anything related to this...
Thanks

This happened to me too. Nothing fixed it. You can try the GPS STATUS app. Free from the market.
Then go to tools>manage a-gps state>reset.... then go back to tools>manage a-gps state>DOWNLOAD.
Try that out for a bit. If that doesnt work do a warranty exchange. I had to exchange mine and now my gps works perfect on my phone.

[Q] Could internal GPS be broken or antenna unplugged?

Hi guys,
Here's my issue: tried different ROMs, tried different baseband, tried FasterGPS, tried GPS Status, no matter what I can wait for an hour and the phone won't get a GPS fix. I can barely have 2 or 3 sats and even then very briefly. I do that in the open, to no avail.
Could the antennas be unplugged? I had the front glass changed a while ago, then didn't use GPS (Galaxy S2 wasnt primary device) so maybe missed that at the time.
Or could there be something else that I missed?
FYI I'm running CM12.1 now and everything works like a charm except the GPS.

I'm also using a LP ROM, but the GPS works like a charm for me. So, I think the GPS Antenna is broken/detached and needs to be set again.
Maybe you could pay a visit at the Samsung Service Center and show this error to them. Although before going to them, you would have to shift to Stock ROM.
Regards, and Best of Luck!
Yeah... well I'm going to spare myself visiting a samsung center or a repair shop of any kind and will just go straight to using my iphone when I go jogging...
It's a pain though, but whatever.

Haha. I pretty much think that it is fixable in a few dollars, and your visit would give you a good result.
Regards.
a few $ for a 4yr old phone is not something I'm willing to spend. Rather buy a compact sony or a mini galaxy
