Yet you're on a public forum using part of your name as your username, on an operating system that is designed by a company whose entire business model has been to collect your personal information and sell it to advertising companies, built on a phone which uses a voice and data standard which is not only intercepted but collected and stored into massive searchable archives. Face it, whether or not you trust the NSA, they've got dozens of different vectors into your digital life if they wanted to.
Open source doesn't guarantee security or privacy, please don't kid yourself. If you don't understand what OP is trying to do, this build of Android is not for you.

Sadly, I've accepted the fact that I am completely "on the grid".

That may be true, but i still don't like what the NSA is doing. What if NSA gets hacked and literally all citizens data lie on the street for criminals?

That's a very real concern for someone else to discuss.
My point continues to be that your idea that "fully open source" is somehow related to "trust" is incorrect, and by logical extension, such comments are useless in this thread.

Nice, can't wait!
It was easily ported from nexus 5 to 4.
I would settle for a straight aosp build without the extras!
Been hearing good things about 4.4.

KitKat can come to any device as long as someone is working on the kernel and proprietary files. We have Kali here so I'm guessing that's a good sign that it's coming.

Why are you not sure? I'm 100% sure that AOSP 4.4 will come to the Z Ultra. And a trusted developer has been quoted as saying he is working on it at the moment.

Could someone use the kernel and propriety drivers from the current builds of 4.3 or are new ones needed?

You are aware that we're talking about the AOSP version and NOT Sony's right? Devs are saying that they're working on Kit Kat as we speak. What's the problem? Should we get @krabappel2548 in here so he can confirm that he's working on it?

I will have to respectfully disagree. There is an attachment on the original post which shows krabappel2548 saying he will bring it to the ultra. From that I pulled up the other links. So the OP didn't claim something without further info, or at least not that couldn't have been followed up if you had an interest in the topic.

Anytime there is a new source / base, then dev's need to start a tree from scratch. It takes a huge amount of time. So don't expect a release soon..
I just started a fully new device tree and running a first compile of 4.4 kitkat with the 4.3cm kernel.
Anyway I'm expecting some errors to pop up with caf and qcom.hardware maybe. I'll keep.you guys posted here and also in Z1 kitkat in.november thread
You can also check my site, important news will appear there too
I can't give any ETA since kitkat is brand new + we didn't had an AOSP device tree from 4.3 to start from. Just keep your fingers crossed and check XDA for updates

Novathor sources permision

An email has been sent to STMicroelectronics regarding permission for the usage of the leaked sources as no dev would use them.
--------------------------------------
Respected management
The sources for Novathor U8500 used in numerous android devices have been leaked on 26 January 2014. The developers for this chipset request permission to use these sources in the development of custom firmwares for devices in non-commercial ways to replace stock firmwares. Due to licencing of the chipset sources and Novathor's closed source policy the usage of these sources was not accepted by the developers due to legal issues.
We await your reply concerning the usage of these sources.
Thank you
--------------------------------------
Please do not spam this thread with your opinions regarding the usage of the sources. Its all up to the devs if they want to use it. If St says yes, all is well and good and if it says no then go back to closed source
their reply (if any) will be updated to this thread
As much I know Apache 2 is allowed but everything needs to stay free, theres really no point of this.

Maybe need use only apache licensed sources?):good:
They've got a complete CM11 for the Ace 2 with everything working if you check their dev section. I hope we get similar as no offence to FXP, but CM9 is pretty slow, I've hoping we benefit from project butter + the KK memory improvements.

Oh is it? The name didn't give that away... It does however run the NovaThor U8500 and in the week since the sources release they've got everything working. As far as I know all the U roms are still as broken as ever, no fm radio, no wifi direct/tethering, no a2dp amongst other things. That's not almost everything, not to mention if all the rest were switched to the sources it would all work better than hacked together work arounds. I appreciate the devs work, but it's daft to pretend using the sources wouldn't make a difference, the Ace 2 now has full KK roms with everything working.
Just be patient, guys. We will have got also bugless KK ROMs. For sure.

Who wants AOSParadox for Onyx?

Hello everyone, I love seeing ROM's for Onyx popping up here on XDA zo cheers tot those who creaties them I came of a stock Nexus 5 and I really like the stock Android experience, the way Google sees Android.
I saw that the creator h2o64 and his team of AOSParadox was very very hesitating to make a build for the OnePlus X.
AOSPARADOX has a lot of project in mind (new devices, and things I wouldn't ever think about ,..) that I'm not allowed to speak about. However, the team is very very hesitating since months for a OnePlus X bringup (lack of time and community feedback). If you are a onyx user (OnePlus X), would you like it?

Pixel experience ROM for grand 2

Has the grand 2 developer are making grand 2 many ROMs...and keeping it still alive ...Is very good ...
As many developers are porting to flyme os,dotos, aim, viperos and many more ....
Is there any developer who can make a pixel experience ROM for grand 2 ...It will be very great too..
Get a close-to-stock rom like lineage and flash magisk and then, get the pixel 2 experience magisk zip. Essentially the same effect without making a whole new rom.
No. Bungee gave up G2 support cuz of that glimpser guy and a whole bunch of nooboids crashing all over those threads.
And I have no time to build it. Also Pixel experience is AOSP based as much as I know and we don't have LOS tree adapted for AOSP so it's not possible. And don't throw your "can anyone port this that" request in General section. It should be in the Q/A section tyvm.

Also, I was asking how you were keeping in contact, not whether you were keeping in contact, no need to answer if you don't feel like it.
