[GUIDE] K900 Flash Guide for beginner - Lenovo K900

Basically, there are 3 types of flash method for K900
SDFUSE
OTA Recovery
MFT (Manufacturing Flash Tool)
There is a lot of question, asking about why same version of VIBEROM_V1.0_1411_ST_K900 have so many method of flashing.
There are too many information from the general thread. so I create new thread here for beginner to understand more about flashing.
From my understanding, there are only one version ROM (eg. VIBEROM_V1.0_1411_ST_K900).
But there are a few format for different flashing method.
1) SDFUSE
This format usually flash by create sdfuse folder in internal SD. Normally for update ROM
Copy files system.img.gz, boot.bin, dnx_firmware.bin, etc. (or .inb file which is the one and only one file) into sdfuse folder.
Shutdown and boot up by pressing power + volume up for couple of seconds
select SDUpdate and press power to start.
After done select power off, then power on again. (direct reboot may cause boot loop)
2) OTA Recovery
The format of rom is in ZIP. The zip is signed and there will be checksum (SHA1 and MD5) during flash. so the zip is unable to modified before flashing.
this method normally for update ROM too.
Copy update.zip file into sd card (recommended is at root of SDCard) and shutdown.
Boot up by pressing power + volume up for couple of seconds, then select recovery.
wipe data / Factory reset and wipe cache partition ( optional, which will wipe all data in sdcard)
apply update from internal storage and select update.zip
system will reboot after done.
This does not works for me to upgrade to 4.3 where I am on Qubex Vibe ROM v4.
But there are a lot of K900 user able to flash original Vibe ROM v7 and follow the above method and upgrade successfully.
Refer this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51069544&postcount=3142 or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51128922&postcount=3199
if you are using official Vibe Rom v7. There are a easier way to flash.
copy the downloaded OTA zip file into SD Card.
Go to System upgrade, swipe left get menu, and select tools.
Touch Install specified update package and browse for OTA Zip file in sd card.
Touch install Now.
3) MFT
This method require computer with driver and software installed and USB cable for sure.
Refer this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51162040&postcount=3245
I got this method successfully when I am on non-official Vibe rom.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks to Onesjy at lenovo forum.
http://bbs.lenovo.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=154595&extra=page=1
Edited:
From my experience, the MFT method is always succeed.

MFT
i know how to use it but where can i find Manufacturing Flash Tool 6.0.2??

As far reported to me by QuBeX the ADB mode is not working on that device... I guess for the issue we have with MFT, it is the only solution we can look for also because I haven't forum (and have to open it) a thread where to speak about the recovery of a stock ROM.

About the Method N.3, most of the compatibility issues are related to the OS you are working on.
For the Settings you have to apply what you see below...

[RECOVERY] S7 Clockworkmod Recovery Port for Android 2.1

This does not work on Android 2.2 builds in its current state
Calling this xauBeta so we can distinguish between versions. Tested with Bestbuy Huawei Ideos S7-104 White (external microSD and internal 8GB).
Tested on BestBuy S7-104 running the newer Singapore ROM S7V100R001C61B011, for Android 2.1.
This was not tested on a stock BestBuy ROM. I do not know if this will work properly on that firmware. Please report your findings.

Notes
This recovery image is functional enough for use.
If you have the dual-nand variant of the S7, you can still use the recovery image for the single-sd version. If you do so, installable update zip files will need to be placed on the external microSD instead of the internal nand. You also lose the ability to mount the internal nand to the computer via recovery.
What works: Nandroid works. USB mounts work (choose between internal and external mount hacked in for the dual-sd version). Flashing installable update zip files work. Fix permissions works.
This is still an ugly hack of a recovery image. Instead of waiting for developers, I threw this together so I can use it.
This recovery does not read the misc partition flags and boots into user mode every time. Hopefully this does not break too many things. It only displays only 50% of the screen, but it is still readable. It works for me, so I'm not going to touch the kernel framebuffer or whatever was causing the quad-screen craziness.
Buttons in this recovery image:
Up - vol +, dpad up
Down - vol -, dpad down, menu (cycles when menu reaches bottom)
Select - home, dpad select, power, send call
Back - end call, back
The weird color and the half-screen issues are known. No fixes are planned.
What hasn't been tested
Need someone to help figure out which would be the ideal way to deploy this. I typically fastboot. Will look into an easier method of deployment possibly in the future.
Not tested:
formatting external SD for apps2sd feature (under advanced)
format sdcard (not sure what this option does)
nandroid with apps2ext

You should be able to fix the graphical issues by building a kernel with the framebuffer forced to rgb565 (this is what worked for u8800).
EDIT: Nevermind.. just saw that there's a newer version from a different developer that fixes it, though using a different solution.

[Q] my phone is DEAD

Did my frist flash and now everything is messed up (JL2 seeARMS) - for the belli9000m
basically I can get into my phone - but everything is black (i can't see anything other than the status scren) and the home/back button doesn't work - can't see nothing else
I did a factory reset, wipe, cache, etc. everything - and reinstalled the ROM via CWM yet still nothing works
I desperately need help
Install the correct Bell rom via Odin, not CWM. That should fix it.
you mean to start all over kinda thing ? like download the correct Bell JL2 rom (the official one) and use ODIN to install it ?
I still don't understand why everything is blank - like i can pull down status bar and select voicemal to make a call, receive txts even, but nothing else is there - nothing
how does this even happen
Well it's weird, I'll give you that, but your phone is far from "DEAD". Probably some files are failing to load, or were not included in that ROM that you flashed. Flashing the official one will fix it.

ok last question - once I find / dl the original firmware from bell/samsung (JL2) - and I go into download mode and use ODIN - WHAT BOXES DO I TICK/CHECK - because I've only used odin to flash a kernal (and just used pda) I can assume it's not the same as I'll need the original kernal correct ?
do I tick all the boxes? any tutorials on this I'm lost.
also, how big are these files - i am at work behind a firewall so I can't dl the original firm ware from
http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm
but I need the JL2
if anyone wants to d/l it and email it to me it would be awesome
[email protected]
The files are big (~160MB), I don't think they will fit in your gmail
Here's the download link from samfirmware.com for I9000UGJL2
http://www.multiupload.com/6GRS1OWRJW (password is samfirmware.com)
You just select the .tar file in Odin in the PDA field, don't tick anything else, and flash. Example below:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

Anyway, before you do all that, have you tried wiping the phone from recovery mode? It might help.
You can also try asking seeARMS for help in his thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906977

I know how to get back to stock now - i am just curious about how to re-flash the rom - I want to get this rom on my phone.
I tried flashing it again via CWM - it's even worse, i get into android, but it's blank, black, nothing's there, no buttons work, etc.
so what I was SUPPOSED to do was unzip the original rom .zip file and delete the extra stuff ? then rezip it and flash THAT file via CWM ?
that wasn't in the instructions -- look at the instructions it gives you 2 options:
-------------
"1. Download and extract the file you downloaded above to the root of your internal SD card (both the "seearms" folder and the .ZIP ROM file).
If you would like to customize your install, continue doing step 2. If you would like a stock install with all the applications + SpeedMod kernel + JL2 modem + Generation X theme, skip to step 3"
3. Boot into recovery, and select "Install zip from sdcard".
4. Select "Choose zip from sdcard", and scroll to the ROM.
------------
I did what it said - I did a stock install and skipped to step 3 without doing 2a-2e (custom install)
no where in the instructions did it say I had to open up the .zip file and delete contents then rezip it and flash that file
I need to know how to flash this "custom" rom as per the instructions via seeARM himself -- i didn't do the "custom" and that's what messed me up
ok i flashed with stock JL2 and now i get 10000 force closes
why is this ? anyone ?

FIXED
UFF I fixed it! : )
Happy as little child, than more its not mine phone.
If this happen to anybody.
1. pink screen
2. copy over backedup boot.img or/and recovery.img (if you were using other/modified recovery or boot soft as me)
3. download actual soft from manufacturer for example huawei
4. follow the steps packed inside distributed kernel
5. in this case -create "dload" folder in root of SD. put first uprade file "UPDATE.APP" inside. Boot with all buttons pushed (as pink screen) update will start. In step 2 put the other update to the same folder but rename the second file to "UPDATE_g.APP" and repeat as first step (as pink screen) update will continue.
6. power on normally (I did it WITHOUT SD)
7. should run, by patient, it take some time to sett up fresh soft.
8. there is also step 3 if you want to use chines. Putt step 3 file in the dload folder. Start phone normally. Go to phone settings, sd card, software upgrade and follow the steps asked.
I used for this "U8800Pro V100R001C00B540G001 (Universal) (Gingerbread)"

How to Upgrade/Roll Back on Stock ROM (Officially)

Many people here don't know how to roll back or update their phones' firmware, and that's why I'm making this guide. I hope that it's easy to understand for everyone.
HOW TO UPGRADE/DOWNGRADE STOCK OFFICIALLY
To do this process you do NOT need an unlocked bootloader, and it will NOT void your warranty. If you have an unlocked bootloader, it will also not lock it.
What you need:
-Your phone model (NOT THE MODEL LISTED ON THE FIRMWARE). Flip the phone and look where the ZTE logo is at, it should say either A2017, A2017U or A2017G.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
-Stock recovery. If you didn't tamper with the device you'll most likely have this. If you have TWRP, you can use a flashable zip to get the stock recovery back. There are some for the A2017G, don't know about the others. You can find them at the Download Center. I recommend you to use the same recovery that your firmware version should have, for instance if you are on B04 use the one for B04 or maybe B03. But usually you shouldn' have trouble if you use an older one.
-The firmware that you'll install on the phone. You can either download it on a PC or on the phone itself, but you'll probably need to unzip it.
I recommend trying to download ot on the phone first. If it fails to download, the safe bet is using a PC though.
-RAR if you'll download the system on your phone, or an unzipper on your PC if you're gonna do it from there (7zip, winrar)
IF YOU ROLL BACK, ALL OF YOUR DATA (INTERNAL STORAGE INCLUDED) WILL BE WIPED. BACK UP EVERYTHING YOU CONSIDER IMPORTANT!
If you update, this usually does not happen, but always back everything up just in case.
Regardless that you download it via PC or phone, you'll need the system zip. Knowing the HARDWARE MODEL of the phone, download it either from the official ZTE pages, or via unofficial sites. If you download it from unofficial sites though, check that the zip is ~2.3 GB and that, if you open it with RAR or some zip manager, it has an update.zip inside and a PDF. If it has, follow the instructions; if not, just move it to the root of the sd card (/storage/emulated/0/) and go to Settings - Updates, and update. The A2017G has a list of previously unzipped system zips on the Guides section (Download Center by @raystef66, check it out)
If you know how to use an IDM, it can be very good on the phone. Just sayin'
For the A2017: http://www.zte.com.cn/china/sitecor...rt/detail?id=B4C0ACE418834F588FED0C72D6046C78
For the A2017G:
http://www.ztedevice.com/support/detail?id=98CEB24F9FFD433EA99EC424163149A6
For the A2017U: 'Tis a little bit more fuzzy, there's many different carrier ROMs and there's only one zip from the unlocked model page. Either find a package here on XDA or, if you solely want to update to Nougat, go to the official page and download the zip available for your carrier:
https://www.zteusa.com/support_page/
Select 'Smart phones', the carrier, and ZTE Axon 7 (Not 'ZTE Axon' nor 'ZTE Axon 7 Mini'!)
So, process:
a. If you'll use the Phone:
Once you have the system zip, install RAR from the Play store or an apk, and find the Downloads folder, and the zip you downloaded. The screenshots here are just emulating how one of the official files will look, the numbers of the zip are just random and the sizes are not realistic (I just took some files and renamed them ).
Open the zip, find the update.zip inside, select it with the checkmark, and unzip it.
RAR will ask you where to extract this. Just remove everything after /0/, like on the screenshot. Press OK.
Go to System Update on the Settings, and there should appear the zip, with an sd card icon. Press Update and you're done!
b. If you'll use the PC:
1. Download the zip on your PC.
2. Open your zip manager of choice and open the zip. Throw the update.zip on your desktop.
3. Connect your phone, open the internal storage and throw the update.zip inside.
4. Go to Settings, Updates, and the zip should pop up, with an sd-card thumbnail (even though it's not on an SD card, disregard that). Install, and you're done.

HELP! [Infinix HOT 10i X659B] Phone stuck at booting after trying to install a patched-boot from Magisk.

Ok i need some emergency help please: what i did:
Downloaded stock rom (exact version number of my Infinix Note 10i X659B) X659B-H696AvAw-R-OP-210330V152
Grabbed boot.img, placed on phone folder,
installed magisk apk, patched with magisk apk and put that patched-img to the folder in my PC.
Got minimal adb tools, used adb reboot bootloader to put phone on fastboot (saw fastboot screen on phone) did:
fastboot flash boot_a patch-boot.img
fastboot flash boot_b patch-boot.img
(renamed the file to patch-boot.img for convenience)
Now phone is stuck booting

i only see the "Infinix" start up screen, then a message: Orange State: Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted
Your device will boot in 5 seconds
to be fair that message appeared when i unlocked the bootloader, and beside the data wipe, the phone worked just fine
So where i think i screwed up is by installing it on boot_b too, (guide i followed said that i should also patch boot_b if my phone have a/b system (which it does, also magisk app also told me)
So what i can do? I cant seem to be able to put my phone down on fastboot again to try to patch either the stock image or reflash the whole phone. Or i just bricked my brand new phone? :'(
With Android having an A/B image partition layout the user-runable Android is that in slot A. Slot B is only used to temporarily store OTAs: When update process successfully ends then at phone's reboot whole slot B gets copied into slot A and finally device gets booted into updated slot A. My POV: It's always an idiocy to flash a patched boot.img to slot B.
To get rid off of all modifications you applied so far you're recommended to re-flash phone's Stock ROM.

How you can recommend i reflash the whole rom? I cant seem to find how to get the phone into another state. Volumen Up + Power does nothing, phone keeps trying to reboot.
Volume Down + Power does nothing either
Volume UP+Down+Power keeps the screen off, but i can hear windows connecting/disconnecting every 10 seconds or so. so how i connect it to, lets say, SP Flash Tools (considering is a MTK device)?
Well tried to do it with SP Flash Tools, but after trying to "Format All+Download" with all the checkboxes subsystems selected, i get a "auth file needed" error
Didn't find any of that in the firmware i downloaded :c
You need mtk bypass tool for that
