FYI - Found Bluetooth Headphones that were 30 euros, has A2DP and bluetooth 4.0 - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Hi all,
I live in Germany and saw that the local Aldi's (grocery/mini walmart store) had some bluetooth headphones on sale. They were 30 euros so about 35 US dollars. Decided to give them a try since I thought 30 euros wasn't bad. I'm really surprised how good they are. I have LG+ Tone 700 and these are pretty comparable. This also has A2DP and uses bluetooth 4.0. It paired quickly with the note 3 and got it up and running with no hitches. The sound quality is good. I'm going to give them more of a trial run later.
They also charged extremely fast at only 2 hours. Run time it says is about 4 hours but if the recharge time is that small, I don't see a big deal with it being shorter time for the charge to last. They have a 3 year guarantee and it's USB chargeable only but I'm sure you can find an normal adapter if you wanted the wall plug. To charge the headphones, it's kind of funky. It's like a clip to some small prongs. Not a normal microusb charger. The controller on it is pretty small and you need to like mash on the buttons a little but it seems to be alright for normal use. They're really light and have only the headphone wire which I like because the neck loop on the LG sometimes is irritating for me.
Anyhow, thought you all might want to check it out for those who live near an Aldi's in Europe or in Germany. The manufacturer is Maginon, model BTH-100. I think it's probably a no name but I'm not sure of products here.
here's the german link. Not much info but enough: http://www.supra-electronics.com/typo3/?id=119&tx_oid=685&L=0

long term use
Hi Kamfl610,
Thanks for the short review. I just run into this and I would like to ask if you opinion changed after a longer use? You are using it for almost 2 months now.
Thanks

I'm interested about feed backs. Wanna share? Thanks!

I too had a pair of LG Tone 700, and due to how much I used them, one of the wires to the earbud shorted out. I replaced my set with the LG Tone 730 (the newer model), I gotta say, I love those even more!
I do have to add, however, that as far as I know, the HBS-700 model uses bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, not 4.0. The 730 model uses bluetooth 3.0, which isn't bad, but that's not 4.0. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3-oUPLWaNGNN0p4NEs2OEJkalk/edit?usp=sharing
I do suggest paying the difference and getting the LG HBS 730 instead of the 700. The battery seems to last longer as compared to the 700s I had, and I like that fact that it tells me if the battery is high, medium, or low when I turn it on (as the old set did not do).

the LG tone 730 physical buttons works well on KitKat?

Hi all,
Meant to reply to this. I took them out for a longer run. The sound quality is still decent for 30 euros but how far away the phone had to be away from the headphones is not very far. I started getting a little static and some stuttering quality when i had the phone down in my bag. Along with that, when the phone was kind of bumping against me, I was getting gaps in the sound from the headphones and my music. I find this kind of not a good thing. If you want something cheap and just for daily use (no running with them or heavy exercise) and you can keep the phone close, it's not bad. I've gone back to LG tone +700 again. The 730's are too expensive right now in Germany and I don't even see the 800 model yet. I tried also the Delycons because they were 50 euros and i saw decent reviews on Amazon for them and I was disappointed with them. They were similar in style to the 30 euro ones but were suppose to have good sound. I didn't find that. I normally use PowerAmp Player but the bass was so muddy in the Delycons that I had to go to the Google Music player to even out the sounds. That seemed totally wrong to me so I sent them back. I'm going to use the 700's for awhile because I haven't found anything that remotely meets the same specs and sound quality. I just wish it didn't have the neckband. Anyhow, that's just my view.

Are there any headphone adapters for Startrek?

My wife would like to use her Koss headset instead of the crappy stuff that comes with the unit. Is there an adapter that works like the 2.5 minijack to microphone + 3.5 minijack adapters that I have for my Atom? And please, don't even mention bluetooth! The headsets are nowhere near sounding as good as a cabled Koss yet, at least not within the price range we can afford!
Google is your friend.... this is a bit heavy on the DIY side but the principle looks solid.
http://www.4winmobile.com/tutorial-replace-hermes-headset-connector-with-35mm-socket-vt3146.html
I took the diy route, while it looks intimidating it's really very simple. Had my new headset adapter up an running in about 15 minutes.
Or a little less polite said: www.justfuckinggoogleit.com And yeah, I have thought about doing that, but the problem is that it won't be useful as a handsfree, and I would need something that does that. But I may try anyway, by cutting the plug of one of my XDA Atom 2.5 inch minijack to microphone + 3.5 inch plug units and soldering it to the thing. I just need to find out what cable to use for microphone, but that shouldn't be difficult. I was just hoping that there would be a ready made solution like the one I use for my Atom, from my eBay friend on netime in Hong Kong (no economical cooperation, I'm just a very satisfied customer). Look at item 320087044758, that's the one I use.
Another weird thing about that: I can get a similar item in Norway, and it may actually arrive 2-3 days sooner (usually not more). But it will cost me close to ten times as much! Talk about getting paid through the nose...or whatever orifice they put their money in.
Oh, not to be snotty, but I think my time will probably be closer to 5 than 15 minutes! I have all the equipment they mention, only in better versions, and I do know my way around a soldering iron. It does have it's perks to have an electronics engineer as a brother! He works in software now, but you should see his home workshop! The old stuff he gives me is probably better than all the hobby stuff you can buy!
Finally I'm glad that guy remembered to have a separate image showing that you need to put the plastic covering of the mini jack plug on first, since that's the number one idiot's mistake. This idiot has done it a few times as well...

You cut above the microphone to attach the jack, and then it can still be a handsfree device.
Yeah, that's an option. Thanks! But the Problem is that the cable will be very long. Anyway, I did it the way I described above, and it took about five minutes.

Looking for a good a2dp heatset with 3.5mm audio jack for customiSed earphone

Hello,
Almost everything is in the title
I'm looking for a as2p headset to use with my TyTN. I need a small transmitter with a 3.5 mm audio jack for using with a customised earphone.
I was about so buy the HTC BH-S100 but I've seen in many forums that the volume is too slow with it ! And as I'm planning to use it in my car too, I need a sound volume high enough.
Maybe someone knows another transmitter ?
What about i-Tech ClipR35
Thanks for your help in advance
Look at a Motorola S705 by chance?
Try the Tritton Bluestream AX, it's a bit expensive but it was worth it. I love the OLED screen since i dont have to take my phone out to see whose calling. the sounds pretty good too and u can upgrade it's firmware too
Tritton Bluestream AX from ebay 49.99 us, free shipping. Ill test this out, since its cheap enough. Thanks for the heads up.

hi.... am looking for a good a2dp headset too..
criteria - OLED display showing the name of the caller, and good quality sound!!! Both are extremely important..
3 choices - Motorola S705; Sony HBH-DS980; and the Jabra BT8010. Any opinion on these products?
I've got the Motorola S705. The sound quality is good (with original earphones), the battery is quite good (2hrs charging for 6-8hrs of music), it also got FM radio. The detection of the device is fast and easy to do. The OLED screen is quite readable in sunny days... But navigating in the device's options is a little bit laggy.
For me it's a good headset. Now it's time for you to make a choice

The only issue I have had with the S705 is that sometimes when you try to asnwer the phone the S705 goes offline and requires the unit to be powered off and on again.
I haven't been able to re-create the problem.
I also notice the lag, but it isn't that big of a deal-I've been having more issues with the various media players in their time to switch tracks when shuffle playing my library (2,000+ songs, AAC-HE encoded).
I never had the "answering" problem on my S705... Am I lucky ? But it's true that the lag is not very big.
It's a good device but not well known as Plantronics' headset.
ok.. am close to liking the S705. Have 2 questions...
1) Does it actually have a 100 metres range as mentioned on their website? http://direct.motorola.com/ens/s705/Headset_Fullspecs.asp
2) Does it have noise cancellation?
Thanks and much appreciated!

(1) Yes, being a Class 1 device it does have a large range, but it's dependent on the other device its connected to. In other words, you're stuck with longest distance of the shortest device in the chain. Since most of the phones out there are Class 2 devices (10 m), you're going to be limited by the class 2 device range. And for all practical purposes, the usable range is usually about 30 to 50% of its advertised range.
(2) I do not believe it has noise cancellation, but I haven't had any issues with noise being a problem.
I am simply in love with my Plantronics 590's.
1. No one ask me if I'm on a headset during a phone call and the clarity is top notch.
2. The music is clear, crisp. I have no problem connecting to my 8125 or the Nokia 5300 I have.
3. If you get the more expensive A package (instead of the E package) or buy it aftermarket, it comes with an adapter that goes into any 3.5mm headset (plasma tv, computers, etc....) allowing you to connect and listen to that device in stereo. I've been at least 35 meters away and had a clear audio signal with no signal or quality loss. Movies, videos and regular tv sound awesome. Also if the device you are connecting with has equalizer settings the headset sound does as told.
4. I've had other Plantronic devices before ( a usb headset with dsp for gaming). This device was destroyed by my son and when I sent it in for repair the warranty was honored and a new set was sent to me although the product is out of production! That goes far with me when a company actually stands behind it's product.
5. They look good to me.
I hope you enjoy whatever headset you get.
I've had an i-Tech ClipR35 for a year or so now and I'd recommend people stay away from it. I don't use it for calls, just to listen to music while at the gym or doing other physically intensive things when I don't want my Hermes in my pocket. It actually left it at one machine and got half way across the gym before the music started to drop out, at least 50 meters if not 75m.
However it's buggy. Sometimes while running on a treadmill I'll hit the "skip-forward" button to skip to the next track and it will inexplicably turn off, switching all music to the Hermes' quite loud speaker. Bad time to be listening to Eddie Murphy's "Party all the Time". It doesn't want to connect to the phone; I have to soft-reset, then "set as wireless stereo" in comm manager for it to connect every time I power it on.
The volume is also a little on the weak side for me. I want to the max volume to be ear splitting so when I'm biking along a busy road I can overpower the road noise. I have good Sennheiser ear buds that can seal out alot of noise but I always have the clip at 90-95% of the volume under normal conditions.
I want to replace it but it wasn't until recently that there were many other options, and they're all still on the expensive side for replacing something that is operational if buggy.
hey wazmo, just to update u... i finally purchased the sony DS980.... and did not go for the Moto!
When i put 2 and 2 together.... i simply ended up liking the Sony piece....
will let u know how good it is.... soon...
I also use a Plantronics 590 and it is really good. Bass sounds good on it, it has a telescoping mic and the controls are easy to use on the side. The only gripe I have about it is the flashing blue ring. It flashes blue every 3s when it is paired to a device, it's fairly bright and would be annoying had I not wrapped it in electrical tape.
They are fairly comfortable, however after a couple of hours they start to hurt my due to the thin padding. Battery life is really good,
The next pair I will be purchasing will be Motorola S805.
Jabra BT320s, works really well....pair of sony earphones to go with....nice.

30 bucks for this pile of crap? From China? Original?
Freaking unbelievable. Got me a pair of AKG K518 for less..
couldn't agree more, 25 US bucks for that crap, bwhahahahahhaa
They're not worth more than $10 US!
ipmart? hmmmmmm..... I would be very cautious buying anything from there.
Ive just bought some really cheap "Iphone 3g" compatible ones from HMV in the UK..
Branded as "exspect Iphone 3g" cost 14.99 (or 2 for £20 on all ipod/iphone accessories) they dint seem to be on the exspect website.
I hate the stock htc ones and was gutted when I found out I couldn't use the spare X1 mic/3.5 adaptor on the HD (sounds are very quiet until you press the talk button when music suddenly comes through full volume).
and the stock HD ones kept falling out of my ears when cycling to work
So in a hurry I bought some of these, expecting to buy something better when I could find them.
They aren't "shure" by a long way but they do sound better than the stock ones, and the mic works okay (even if it is in an odd place). Dont know how long the cabling will last, but they'll do for me for a while.
They look a bit like the eye candy fullmetaljacket iphone ones.. without the bling
I bought mine spares earphones at mobile brando.
I'm not sure if they are original, however, they are exactly like the originals and the quality is the same.
Any suggstion for alternative handfree
I agree with all those who say the original ones are crap.
Why I spend 30 bucks on those crap which broke in just 2 weeks.
Even in that much money I can buy some decent and better ones.
I already bought some from ebay with description orignal htc hd's even they included right pictures but I received wrong ones which even doesn’t work with htc hd totally waste of money agh! . I dont wanna waste money in some cheapo Chinese or Hong Kong shop again. Just a rip off especially when things go in wrong directions. No replacement bad in communication and customer service.
Anyways, guys any suggestions which one to buy. I know any stereo earphones can work but I need mic as well in it. iPhone ones works aswell just confused which ones are durable and gud in quality.
Please share your experience. I wanna use them as handsfree plus music player.
I was just thinking is there any with volume control on it but still look slick.
Volume control is just a second thought I just want good quality of music and mic in affordable price.
Suggestions and experience much appreciated.
Cheers,
Uppal.
What country are you in?
I have the original HTC HD headphones (never used - only tried one once in one ear and did not like it - too hard). I could sell them to you, but I would recommend you getting something else - like the following:
I use the Jabra BT3030 bluetooth headset and I'm very happy with it. Unless you are a music person that is very particular about top quality sound, you'll be fine with these. They offer good quality sound at a reasonable price. And you can even plug in your own headphones into the bluetooth dongle if you prefer.
I like the fact that I can easily pause, adjust vol., move between tracks, answer calls etc.. all without ever having to take the phone out of my pocket. It will even work with MSVC (microsoft voice command) if you have that installed in your ROM. So, I can be listening to music and decide to pause, then give the voice command "call Mike Jones at work", then I hear the confirmation "call Mike Jones at work?", I say "yes" and the call is made. Once I'm done talking to Mike, I go back to playing music. And again - ALL THAT without ever taking the phone out of my pocket and without having to deal with headphone cables attached to my phone.
The only downfall is that when you pause the music, the phone screen turns on. So, if it's in your bag, you could accidentally start pressing buttons on screen. I haven't tried activating the screen-lock with password. That would probably prevent accidental pressing. Now, if you have your phone in its own hard case, then you don't have to worry about accidentally pressing buttons, but I still wish the screen would not turn on.
That only happens with the play/pause button. If you just switch tracks or change the volume, the screen will not turn on.
So, you can consider this option. Even if you don't go for the Jabra BT3030, you can look at bluetooth headsets with the same idea. Like I said, a nice thing too, is that you can plug in whatever headphones you want into the bluetooth dongle. For me, the ones that came with it sound fine and are very comfortable to wear.
You can hang it around your neck (although I don't like the dog tag chain that comes with it - but you can use something else), or use the little plastic clip to clip it to your shirt etc... The plastic clip is not the greatest, but it does the job. The headphones provided are meant to put the right headphone cable behind your neck (i.e. the right cable is longer than the left one).
Here is a manual about the Jabra BT3030
And here is a photo.
In the store, they cost about 80 Euros, but I bought them on ebay for 45 Euros.

The quality is good imo. I definitely don't need anything better. And people I talk to on the phone have said they can hear me fine when I use the mic.
The rc is surprisingly light. It weighs 30g (= 1 ounce) and has a nice rubber grip feel to it (kind of like the back cover of the HD).
After around 6 months of using the orignal HTC headphones, i broke them. I have bought the Jabra 3030 BT.
But i miss listening radio, so i decided to buy similar HTC headphones. I found this on ebay :

It's cheap, and i hope it's worth it.

If anyone Uk does want a set of the original ones I can send them mine..
I've just bought the HTC HS U350 to supplement the cheap ones I bought from HMV..
works great sounds cool..
am away for a week.. so dont expect them immediately.

I assume you mean "Jabra" and not zabra?
The jabra bt3030 model comes with a headset that is:
from the plug to the splitting point for left and right = 32 cm
from the splitting point to the left headphone = 20 cm
form the splitting point to the right headphone = 50 cm
It works fine if you hang it around your neck or if you put it in your shirt pocket. I personally don't like the look of having it around my neck. If you want to put it in your pant pocket, you will need to connect your own, longer headphones to the bluetooth unit. In that case, you'll have to hold it in your hand to talk into the mic when making a call.
The battery life is about 7 - 8 hours of music playing / phone calls
In stand-by mode, it will last 230 hours
There is a light on the headset that flashes constantly (where the word "jabra" appears on the front). Green means fully charged, white/red means medium charge and red means low charge. When the battery is really low, the headphones will beep every 15 seconds. At that point you have about 15 minutes left on the battery.
You charge the battery via usb. If it is totally empty, it will recharge in 2 hours.
I think the battery life is fine. If you really listen to music a lot every day and talk on the phone with it several times throughout the day, you will likely go about 2 days without having to recharge. I don't use it that often and so I can go about a week without having to recharge. It all depends on how much you use it.
I think it is worth it to buy the headset. But get it online somehow because you can get it cheaper than if you go to a store. I paid 45 Euros for it.
You can get more specs from their website here. You can also download the manual in pdf if you want.

Any bluetooth headset recomment?

Hi,
I'm thinking to buy a bluetooth headset, any one can suggest me one? Battery life is my main concern.
Thanks
i use a nokia one, last me a good 2 days
I have tried alot of headsets since they first came out and all i can say is dont buy a cheap one, I have had the cheap, the medium priced and the highend headsets and I can tell you that the only ones i keep are the high end ones. Right now I have the Plantronics Discovery 975 and I love it. Its really light wieght I wear it mostly all day and i sometimes have to touch my ear to make sure its still there, thankfully it always is because it never falls off. It comes with a really convenient case that can charge it fully three times with one charge which means if I charge the case and the headset together to full charge I dont have to charge either for about four or five days. Great buy in my book and well worth the money
nokia bh 104 cheap'n'good
I use the Jabra BT4080.
Small, light, CHEAP, and has A2DP for listening to music.
i use a motorola one
Jabra BT3030 works good

A few months back I bought a Iqua Sun for about 50 euros (70 bucks), here is a link to the official site:
http://www.iqua.com/products_sub.php?navi_id=1476
I am extremely satisfied with the photovoltaic cells, whenever i get home i leave the headset near a window when it can get sunlight and that's all. In four months of moderate usage (20-30 minutes every day on average) i've only had to recharge the battery (via mini usb, perfect) twice . Of course it works with the Hero . I can't speculate on the extent of solar power charging on daily heavy usage , but if you don't need it beacuse of your work and simply use it when you are driving etc etc imho this is perfect.
I can vouch for my Altec Lansing Backbeat 903 A2DP headphones..what's nice is that they offer noise canceling and music streaming capabilities..and the microphone is out of sight yet accurate when you're talking. I've found them to be very comfortable when using them at the gym and just having them on all day. =D link to site
2 words - Jabra BT530
This is an amazing earpiece that filters background noise, AND can be connected to 2 phones simultaniously
Works like a charm, and fits perfectly in the ear(more ear pieces are enclosed so you can choose the best one)
I can wear mine for hours a day, and not even notice i have it "on"
/Smirge
Jabra BT2020 works well with the hero, clear sound and overall very good
There's only one headset i've tried that's good enough and that's Sennheisers VMX100.
Everyone in our company has one of those and save for a few minor problems, mostly related to generic bluetooth problems and the rest probably related to heavy usage, we havn't had any problems at all using a bunch of WM versions, stock android 1.5, iphone and sonyericsson.
Don't mind people talking about problems pairing it with Windows Mobile, my hero didnt even ask for a pass code.
I use the nokia bh-905 on a daily basis. I am really happy with the features (BT+A2DP+sound cancelation+microphone)
I use Sony-Ericsson stereo one: SDK-MW600, You can pair up to 3 devices, it works well with hero, with GB it even show name of song, calling nr. Quality of sound is very nice. And also long battery life.

Sony sbh50/52 BT

I am planning to buy one of these two models.
Are both of them fully compatible with latest fw versions of Note 3?
Caller id / email notifications work fine?
Any issues i should know before adding to cart?

Yeah why aren't you buying me a set?
All joking aside they should work just fine on your Note 3. Enjoy!
I had some issues with Sbh52 regarding dropped connections but they resolved after update. SBH52 is fine and all but I never used the speaker and didn't care about the screen either. It broke for no reason after just three months of use and I bought SBH 20, which goes for 23 pounds on ebay uk. I like it better since it's not dragging on my shirts and can be well hidden.
Think hard how much do you need the screen and the speaker and more importantly - is it worth 2-3 sbh 20's?
Iove my sbh50. I've had 2 in fact, thought I lost one and bought another. 1week later I found it left on with a full charge. Granted it was not connected to a phone and in stand by but even then I get about 10 hours with non stop streaming music and taking calls. Another plus is you can stay connected while charging. Which is great in the car. I also use it with an FM tuner that has 3.5mm plug and a head unit in another car with the 3.5mm aux, bookshelf speakers ect and it all works great. You can also pair 2 devices at a time and separate music and calls. In my car with a Bluetooth head untit I have the note 3 stream music not calls for privacy, and the calls only go to the SbH50 to earbuds. Alternatively you can have your phone connected for calls and another device, say your tablet connected for media.

I like mine as well, gets good battery (8hrs- straight or mixed) Plus I like that you can use any headphones/earbuds.
I hate that rubber/silicone tip found on most earbuds these days (hate not being able to hear whats around me) But most hard tip earbuds dont come with media controls.
Had mine since January and still like it.
