Oh hi Carrier IQ - AT&T HTC One (M8)

My understanding is the twrp available right now that is flashable is from the m7 and doesn't support microSD. I could be wrong.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

you can't use the sd card in twrp right now, but it works fine when in the OS.
so you don't lose sd support so much as you just don't have it in recovery (yet)

You don't need to flash the custom recovery to your phone to use it, you can just boot it "one time" from your computer by using the 'fastboot boot' command (instead of 'fastboot flash recovery'). Also, the official TWRP 2.7.0.2 release supports the SD card as mentioned above. It's at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698134
Question: is adding ro.ciq.ril=0 to the build.prop file really sufficient to completely disable Carrier IQ? After doing this is there anything I else I can do, other than installing the checker app, to make sure it's really off?

Do you notice any reception or LTE performance differences going from the AT&T firmware to the International variant (on which ARHD is based)?
I flashed KnoxRaid which is based on the AT&T stock and also gets rid of carrier IQ and AT&T bloatware, but mobile hotspot/tethering still doesn't work. So I want to try ARHD or Maximus but I'm worried maybe reception/battery life won't be as good?

[ROM][UPLOADED!] HTC Amaze 4g Stock Rom & Deodexed Stock Rom

Hello everyone! I saw that there wasn't a stock rom for this device... so, i decided to hack at the T-mobile RUU to get the necessary files to make this.
Credit:
Accophox

Xboarder
They all helped get this here!
ATM, this is in testing. so there isnt a deodexed verison yet. Once i know that the full stock version works i will make a deodexed version for you themers and rom makers out there (it makes life so much easier)
What this does >>
This rom resets the phone back to 100% stock! It removes the following... themes, mods, tweaks, etc.
Downloads:
Test_v1- http://uploading.com/files/5913cecb/T-mobile_1.43_Stock_Rom_testv1.zip/
Please test and report if it works or not... and if it boots up, let me know what doesnt work. thanks
Install Instructions >>
Make nandroid backup
Download & put rom on sdcard
Boot into recovery mode (4ext prefered so the kernel flashes)
Flash the Super Wipe script
Flash this rom
Reboot...
WARNING!
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE! EVEN IF IT DOES ANY OF THE FOLLOWING... SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST INTO FLAMES, MELTS A HOLE THROUGH YOUR HAND, OR TRANSFORMS INTO A EVIL FIGHTING ROBOT AND CREATES ITS OWN ARMY ENSLAVING THE HUMAN RACE.
Change Log:
Code:

Created and in testing...
hopefully this makes a good base for roms

Coming from a Samsung Vibrant which is easy to root and flash roms.
Why are the new HTC devices so difficult, I mean I've been on my samsung for two and half years so now that I finally came back to HTC after 4 years everything seems like a pain in the butt to do. I have to unlock the bootloader in order to root, then I have to unlock s-off which I heard stands for security on/off yet I still don't understand it and to do that I need to do some wire trick that is still really not explained that well, and all this so I can flash a custom rom.
I'm curious though as to how this s-off method was recently released how have people used and created other roms if this was the first s off method?
I apologize if I come off sounding like a noob, but HTC is different from what I remembered on the G1 and myTouch 3G.

[Q] Sooo Confused about S-Off Prerequistes & Procedures

Ok here are the steps I have taken since acquiring my HTC Rezound. I checked and noticed that it was running ICS when I first received it. I then used AIO kit to unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP recovery, and gain root access. I was a bit impatient and decided to skip on reading around on how to use adb( I still lack knowledge on using) to gain S-off. I then began flashing roms. While I have not experienced any extraordinary issues since doing this, I have noticed that life is a lot easier being S-off. I would like to know if I can go S-off from these aforementioned steps, or do I need to revert everything I have done up to this point and start over or what. By the way, I was an idiot and accidentally deleted my stock rom off the sd card so I really have nothing to restore other than the roms I have been running which have all been ics roms. I've read a lot of different information on this and am not sure what to do. Any help in getting me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Just run an ruu that will bring you back to stock so you can s off.

Does this entail the method I used to unlock my bootloader?? Sorry if I sound so cautious, just do not want accidentally brick my phone or to hear my wife's crap if something unfixable happens.

Don't think so the RUU will tell you that you have the wrong version and can't go back. Its forward only. The other issue is we don't have DEV Unlock from HTC. S-Off wouldn't be a big deal if we had official unlock from HTC that's were we are getting screwed. Otherwise I would flash to stock, update, use HTC Unlock then pull the ROM, but we can't do that here.
The devs will work magic soon... no rush

I wish I was S-OFF but I'm still S-On which for this stuff can be a setback. Like I've been saying its HTCs Dev Unlock that is screwing us/me. Damn you Verizon and HTC.
We should still be able to flash the radios but we need someone to make us a update.zip. correct me if I'm wrong but they should be signed by HTC and if prepared correctly should be flashable.
Edit:
I'm not sure that our hboot looks for an update.zip.

International Roms *if you have flashed one please stop by*

I've been seeing a lot of people posting that they were able to install international roms. I have a few questions...
1. Did you just use the all in one tool kit from the HTC One forum to root/install recovery? Any bugs or gotchas to look out for?
2. Which recovery did you use? (Twrp, CWM, CMW touch)
3. Did you have to do anything special to get everything to work (like LTE etc)?
4. Which rom did you chose and have you had any bugs?
I think this will be helpful to all as our phones arrive
Thanks
The all in one didn't work for me mostly. HTC dev chose all others.
Followed other links to root and install recovery. Used cwr and twrp. Running cwr now. Truedroid or revolution work w working lte. Most mods and themes worked flawless.

Good question. Because the bootloader is read only until soff when we flash the roms the kernel (boot.img) won't be flashed. Am I thinking correct? So we just need to not flash the international boot.img

LTE problems
Just a heads up guys, i was able to use the all-in-one kit to do everything except flashing a working recovery although i was trying to use CWM touch. I went and manually installed in fastboot from another thread on xda a working cwm non touch version and got it going. I have tried several roms so far, tricked is very cool and i liked but i couldnt connect to 4g LTE with it....same with Orio 1.0, worked but no 4g LTE. Renovate froze on the first page of aroma and couldnt get it working, although i didnt try to re-download. I am about to test revolution HD to see if that solves my 4g problems. Let me know if anyone else knows of a good working ROM or kernel for this
So there's no doubt that LTE works on the custom ROMs in the M7 dev forums...

Running revolution hd
to those of you who have flashed roms do you also flash the boot.img separate in fastboot or do you just flash the rom in recovery and reboot?
I flashed the stock Int'l ROM that was based off firmware for the m7_ul and everything works but LTE.

I just flashed the Rom straight from recovery....worked fine on cwm touch...I'm using trickdroid....aroma froze a bit so it took a couple tries but all is working as should for me at the moment.
Also lte working fine for me
48 download/10 upload
****update*****
Notice on the ROM that home and back buttons tend to freeze and not work for a few seconds every once in awhile. Guessing its ROM related

hey so I flashed RENOVATE rom and foolishly flashed the kernel afterwards. I've got no service at all.
I need to find a way to get the stock at&t kernel if at all possible. Would that fix what I'm facing here?
edit: fixed it...
So, I grabbed the rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752
flashed it, same problem-- no network.
then I took the boot.img from it, and flashed it with adb and that gave me network back.
That rom has trouble with paid playstore apps though. so that's my last hurdle.

Interesting....well it seems that I have LTE working but only in certain areas. I was driving around town for work and had it most of the day but when I go back home where I had full 4g LTE prior to root/rom it only shows H coverage. Even back at the att store where I swapped out a case today it was only showing H coverage instead of 4g.
WEIRD.....
I can also confirm that the back button especially is freezing up quite abit....I miss my charge and it's actual buttons.
Is the 4g coverage issue something that I can just call att and get them to push an update or something for?

ATT One unlocked bootloader Today about 3:00EST. Firmware 1.29.401.5.
Installed Mike1986 Android Revolution Rom. Flashed Kernel (boot.img) From fastboot.
Installed Clockwork Mod Touch Recovery.
The TWRP has issues with aroma installer for me..kept freezing. I tried 2 versions. So far everything is great. LTE works really good. This isnt bad for 3 bars..

No ATT cant push any update to your unlocked rooted custom rom'd One. Even if you were on stock they dont push updates per device. H is 4G. Stands for HSPA i assume. Thats how all international roms are. ATT has their own icons. You lose them when flashing custom roms not based off of an att rom base.. LTE signal Icon looks different also.
Yeah I understood not being able to push updates for software I was thinking more along the lines of SIM update for coverage or roaming. I assumed H was hspa but didn't realize that was full 4g speeds... I assumed I needed to see the LTE icon for that

4g and LTE are 2 different things. LTE will be faster than HSPA (4g).

ATT HTC One can flash International HTC One firmware

Hey I just wanted to make a list of things I have confirmed to be interchangeable between the ATT HTC One and International HTC One. I have yet to test bootloader.
1. System
2. Boot.img
3. Recovery.
4. Radio
Also all of these can be flashed in recovery if you are unlocked with a custom recovery

i agree completely....XDA is so bloated already with the amount of devices, we REALLY need to combine these two, sooner than later.
To be honest, i will most likely only be following the international thread if we do keep them separate. The development over there is exploding....i usually did the same with my Inspire 4G and the Desire HD forums....
Ya I follow them. Hell they will get 4.2.2 first.

wait ,
you were able to flash the firmware.zip for 1.29.401.12
????
Edit nm , removed link also , so people dont download and install it.
I saw your post on the radio firmware and see that you installed it from that. Works great too.

What files are the "system" you are talking about ? I thought we still needed correct CID to flash the firmware package updates? I'm talking about the firmware updates like Mike1986 posted..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823 This would be an entire firmware update.. at least all the important stuff. I assume we can flash it all now?
As far as radios...for ATT guys and gals if you are on Build 1.26.502.10 Then you already have the same radio. Radio 4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01L
If you are on Build 1.26.502.6 Then you have the older radio. Radio 4A.13.3231.20_10.30.1131.05L and you may benefit from updating.
My phone shipped from ATT with the latest firmware. So the point is Check your radio version before flashing.. You might not need it.
Is there any other reading on this topic?
Or is it as simple as just treating the AT&T version like the international and just flashing whatever kernels/recoveries/roms we please?
If there is no blood offering needed, the AT&T version gains much more dev support and makes it much more attractive...
Sorry if I took any info wrongly, but it almost seems to good to be true in my mind.

So far everything is working great on the ATT phones. No telling what future firmware will hold but so far we are good to go.

They're the same internal development codename. TMOUS, EMEA LTE, and ATT USA are all M7_UL in the bootloader, as far as HTC is concerned, they're the same phones with different radio bands enabled and disabled.
How do we file a petition to join the forums? It should be combined. In the past, it made sense to keep the forums separated.
Has anyone else noticed that a reboot brings back all uninstalled bloatware back...? And also any change in system (like using AdFree for changing host files are reverted back.
Any input?

Doesn't the TWRP Recovery take care of that with the HTC Dumlock?
What is different from HTC One and One X, One X had no problem with this.

This ^ Any changes made to /system/ while booted will be reverted upon reboot. For anything to stick it needs to be added/removed via recovery (while not booted). Or (if still on the stock kernel, as I assume most custom kernel's already do this), you can do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230341

From what I understand TWRP's Dumlock is for flashing kernel's through recovery. Previous HTC Bootloaders on other devices would not allow flashing to the boot partition through recovery, so fastboot flashing boot.img was necessary unless you were s-off. Dumlock circumvented this. From what I've read, Dumlock is not necessary on our devices, as our current bootloader does not block the flashing of the boot partition from recovery (as long as your dev/chef includes the necessary scripting for the kernel/boot.img to be flashed during the ROM install). Keep in mind that any OTA could carry a new bootloader that will break this, so tread cautiously..
I cannot find it
I cannot find it...does anyone know where i can find the factory rom for AT&T i didn't do a backup and need to return the phone..
