how often do you update Android apps? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

how often do you update Android apps through Play Store?
I find the auto update bloody annoying. So I turn it off and update once every three months. Has been working well for me for the last few years.

Google Store update

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648185
For those that didn't know it was out yet that haven't checked the apps threads...
However, the reason I'm posting is... For all of you, anyone have any clue why my device will not automatically update the store? I've always been forced to install it manually on my evo 3d CDMA. Even just upgraded to ICS and had to update since it was MANY MANY versions behind.
It usually takes a few days for your phone to automatically update the play store after an installable version has been made available, at least in my experience. The only time that this was different for me was when it went from the Android Market to the Play Store, that happened the day of. Probably because they wanted to get that out there ASAP.
the point is.... it doesn't automatically update it at all. I have to manually install it every time.
Well how long are you waiting for it to automatically update? I'd give it a week before I would consider anything wrong.

[Q] Android update 4.2.2, games won't start

Hi guys,
This morning I installed the newest android update (4.2.2) on my Samsung Galaxy SII+. The first notifications that I got after the installation where Google+ has crashed and Skype has crashe. That two apps are fixed by deleting and installing again, but many of my apps (the most are games) won't start anymore. I know that I can fix it with deleting and installing again, but with some apps I was very buzy and then I'll lose all my progres. As example with head soccer it took me 5 days to get a special country. Any one who know how to make my apps working without losing progress? I can also wait on further updates for the games but Head Soccer was just update 1 week ago and it'll take a long time before the new update will come.
Bye, Rick

play services virus

Dears, the problem that broachs this query to forum is related to a kind of virus called google play services. But let's start the tale from the very beginning: It popped I in about a year ago or so on my faithful full stock Alcatel Android 4.2.2 (running finest & fastest with around 270 apps and heavy duty since near 3 years) It began with lags and a pop window saying: ''this app won't work until you update google play services'' also in the attempt to open several apps non related to creepy google. Innocently I joined the message and did so. Once updated, the phone gone almost blocked and overheated, leaving room enough as to go settings (reaching there after several minutes) and press uninstall updates button and the problem vanished. This happened thrice in a year because of my doubts about, finally never again I updated the crappy play services and it never ever SELF UPDATE as follows.....:
Now....To make my Alcatel company I bought a brand new 4.4.2, slotted a copy of my SD and installed my APKs. All right for a short while until the same problem appeared again. Again I uninstalled the play services update and fixed BUT...Now the play services along with the play store self update constantly, even self turning the Wi-Fi on. First I tried all the simple tricks (disabling auto sync, disabling google now, etc and etc) but they both leaped every barrier. Then I disabled play services but even apps non google crashed completely......
Finally I rooted and run 3C toolbox. In app management > services I unchecked the two autoupdate boxes of play store BUT....the boxes self re check and there smily came the play store update.... I set the linux firewall for both playstore and play services but all seems to be useless.
This morning through 3C toolbox I flushed away to the gutter most of google crap user apps, then guessing by the sequence of their auto updating (always first play store) I disabled play store suspecting it enables the play services auto update and no news of self updates until now, but the keyboard still lags, a film online still winks and a couple of apps and the settings page opened by itself.
The question is: the 4.4.2 play services version is 6.1.83. Is it possible to replace it by installing an APK of the version 4.0.34 that my 4.2.2 runs ? If so, how is to perform a safe replacing ? Compatibility ?I dare to guess first step disabling play services, second installing the APK and check behaviour..... If not I'll acknowledge any suggestion or alternative. I'm just a half advanced and curious user
I wish the disabling of the play store keeps the situation stable and the only matter here is replacing goggle play store with something similar
Thanks in advance.

Google play wont update apps anymore.

Since the latest T Mobile update , I cannot get any of my apps on the play store to update .
Any advice? Cheers.
Edit. I had to turn WiFi on and off a few times and restart Google play app. All good now.
This is interesting. I've noticed the sharp decline in updates that I normally see...which has been at least 1 or 2 apps every day/other day. Since the update, I haven't been getting any updates. I found it rather odd, but didn't think too much about it....I thought maybe devs were taking some time off for the holidays and not pushing out updates.

Google Play shows updates that have already been installed

Hi. I'm new to Android having recently switched from iPhone to Pixel 2 XL. I'm seeing some strange behaviour with Google Play Store app updates.
Every couple of days I get a notification to say that app updates are available (I have auto update turned off) so I go to the Play Store and see the list of available updates. However, most of the updates aren't new - they are ones that I have already installed, sometimes several days or weeks previous. For example, the list might show...
Example App [UPDATE]
Updated 3wk ago
But I updated that app 2 days ago and the version number I have installed is the version that's showing as available to download.
Can anyone explain what's going on here? Thanks.

I've not had that problem for a long long time now:
But at the time I went to the phone settings > Apps > then the 3 dots top right > show system > then found google play store > opened up it's settings > Opened up storage section > clear data.
Then once I restarted my phone I've not had that problem since.
It may help it may not but that solved it for me on LG G4 H815
