Hi guys, hope all of you are fine doing well. I am using Galaxy S III International Version I-9300 came from UK upgraded to Android 4.3. Today when I connected my phone to KIES, following message appeared
Firmware Upgrade available for your phone:
Current firmware version : PDA:MK6 / PHONE:MK1 / CSC:MK4 (VOD)
Latest firmware version : PDA:NA5 / PHONE:NB1 / CSC:NB1 (VOD)
I've searched on internet, but the latest firmware version as per KIES is also 4.3. do I need to perform this Upgrade or not ? ? ?
NA5 is just a newer build firmware of android 4.3 than MK6... so if you just want your phone updated only then go ahead with it... if you are happy if the current version then I would say stay with it..
But if you feel some lag in your current build then just go ahead with it.. it may improve your user experience a bit as newer build is considered to be with few fixes obviously...

Hi, newbie to the forums but I have the same issue with my wifes S3. The only difference is that the OTA says there is an upgrade, but this fails and says to use Kies.
When using Kies to upgrade it seems to go ok, the device firmware is downloaded/passed to the S3.... But when the S3 reboots and I connect it back to Kies it says the upgrade still needs to happen??
Anyone else getting this problem?

Updated to pda:ki4 phone:ki1 csc:ki (ten) just the other day using kies,...and reading on xda today about new fw I figured I might as well plug the phone in and see....and now the new kies goes "The current version is not an official release. Firmware upgrade services for unofficial versions is not supported!"
Anyone got a clue as to just wtf kies is up to now!?
edit: reinstalled kies2....071_128 and this one just says "this version of the device cannot be updated"
Anyone know if these msg's are just a lousy way to say "you have the latest version"...or is it something more serious!? Phone is all official no mods or anything...just used kies to dl latest 2.3.4 ver..*sigh*
Simillar problem here, updated via OTA to 2.3.5 and Kies says unofficial firmware. WTF?
The phone is from Vodafone.

I was wondering if I download some of the OTA firmwares from sammymobile.com and install it on my SIII I9300 would I still be able to get automatic software updates on my SIII (Settings>About phone> Software updates)
To be more precise, currently I am on stock 4.0.4, and I have seen that sammymobile have OTA firmware 4.1.1 for my mobile provider(HR VIP, Croatia) but it also says it is still unofficial.
Not that I care much for those automatic updates or stock firmwares but this really intrigues me.

There is official 4.1.1 for Croatia. Not sure if it is your service provider or not. As long as your phone is not carrier locked you can use this one. Or you can use a firmware for any of your neighbouring countries

And i got Notification about newer Firmware but cant Update over OTA, cause my Phone is rootet.
Now is my Question where can i find the last Original Firmware for this Version?
And will i loose Root rights after Update?

You can flash these using odin. Never actually used kies for anything..

thanks for the Informations and Helps, and i dont have installed Kies, cause i couldnt update before it was rootet. Programm Crash every Time i tried.

I have a completely stock , non rooted and sim free UK S3.
I got the terrible 4.3 update and suffered for a few weeks like the rest of us.
I then got the OTA MK6 25mb update which has thankfully given me back a phone I like.
However... I now have one small issue ....
If I connect my phone to Kies it says ...
Your current firmware version is not supported by kies for firmware update.
Current firmware version : PDA:MK6 / PHONE:MK6 / CSC:MK6 (BTU)
Why is this happening and what does it mean ?

Everyone will have this at the moment the server Kies connects to doesn't currently recognise the firmware as its only an OTA update at this time
Ah ok. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I was beginning to think something was wrong with the phone.
I own a SGS4 GT-i9505 which I bought from UAE. I updated the os to 4.3 via OTA . It worked well for about 4 months then it started to show up some signal errors. Actually there is no signal at all. When i searched for updates it showed latest firmwares are alredy installed. Now I got rooted my phone and it didn't solved my issue. Now when I try to update my phone via OTA it shows your device is modified. But when I connect with kies 3 there is an official update available.
Now my question is
1. Can I update that available official update through kies to my rooted phone ?
2. How can I get rid of this no network error ?
3. Is it possible to downgrade Galaxy S4 GT-i9505 from4.3 to stock 4.2.2 ? If so is there is any problem with knox app in 4.3 ?
