Bluetooth wakelocks - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, does anyone else have an issue with Bluetooth keeping the phone from going into deep sleep? I have my Z2 connected to my Pebble and the phone hasn't slept all day since taking it off of the charger. I never had this issue with other phones so just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

Bluetooth isnt something sony seem to care about
Hence why its stupid
I have this issue too on all my xperia devices and tend to keep bluetooth off when needed

Not sure about Pebble but I have bluetooth connected to my Sony SW2 and headset the whole day and I don't have an issue with phone not sleeping.

When connected to my car, I get wake ups with the notification for "throw" constantly telling me it's connecting, then stops, then starts again. Anyone else have this?

Works fine with Pebble too. No issues with my car as well.

Mine did this in my MB .suv. It would eventually crash the Bluetooth and then restart itself. Quite annoying if I must say. Never had a phone with unstable Bluetooth.

Weirdly mine is a Mercedes too, a C class. Maybe it just doesn't like MB? I dont know if mine crashes but it just constantly brings up this throw crap!

That's interesting, but I was reading the sony mobile forums in Taiwan and there were plenty of complaints about unstable Bluetooth. I had hoped the first firmware update would fix it, but it didn't happen.

Yes I can confirm I also have this issue when paired with my Audi car stereo. Constant wakelocks draining the battery. Is there no fix for this. I think it is related to the downloading of the phone book but I have tried disabling this feature and it still drains.

Sometimes even after disconnection they continue until I reboot the device. They also stop if I freeze / unfreeze the Bluetooth share app using titanium backup

For anyone who's interested I used the xposed wakelock terminator on Bluetooth share and codeaurora.bluetooth and the issue appears resolved with no obvious side effects

For who is keep having the issue, try to take a look to what is happening to my Z3.
I have no solution (yet??) but it looks to be very similar to yours with the Z2.

[Q] WiFi Randomly turning on

Today I noticed that although I have my wifi turned off, from time to time throughout the day it randomly turns on without me doing anything. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking it may be some app or another turning it on, but I'm at work right now and don't really have time to troubleshoot it.

I too have noticed this. Here's a question that may blow away my theory - Do you use AT&T Smart WiFi?

Indeed I was using AT&T Smart WiFi. I just turned it off. We'll see if that seems to make any difference.
I use the dumb wifi (i set it on or off as I need to... need NFC tags now) and no problem what so ever.
Ok, so I stopped using Smart WiFi. I have not seen the wifi turn on randomly since.
Bet your battery life improved along the way...
Yeah, battery life has been improved. Although it's still not great. I'm waiting for a custom ROM to fix it, but Android OS uses like 54% of my battery. Pretty sure that's more than it should.

[Q][Urgent]Sudden Death of Xperia Tablet Z

So my "not even two day old" device experienced a sudden death.
I was reading a manga on it and it suddenly turned off... It turned on when i connected the power cable and pressed vol up plus power key.
But this is a horrific thing to happen to a guy.. I mean I paid too much and not for this...
Any fixes? Anyone?
I'm really afraid people!!!
It sounds more like "sudden faint" more than sudden death. It happened to my XTZ once as well but just once so I'm not worried as much as you. I guess like any computer thingy with a lot of fancy electronic stuff it can act wierd from time to time. As far as I can see - if it's not happening often, than don't worry too much and just enjoy your cool tablet

Maybe the battery just died? If not, you may have just used a slightly unstable root. Are you running a custom rom?

I totally agree with you there... but it would be nice if sony rolled out an update fixing this issue... like they did with xperia z....
the phone had the same issue and they resolved it... maybe someone can isolate the fix and modify it for the tablet.

Problem with Xperia Z was different. "Sudden death" was permament and not fixible by power and volume button. It had something to do with stamina and battery voltage control and I'm 99,99% sure this is not the case here.
But I agree with you that Sony should(and probably will) fix it in the next update.

This is not the issue I had. I wanted to clarify here that yours is fixable, my tablet was a complete brick, and doesn't even respond to button presses nor being plugged in, and no LED's turn on when plugged in. Mine is pooched, yours still turns on.

Audio goes In/Out while streaming over Bluetooth in car

Has anyone else had this issue? I've had it occur in two different vehicles. Stock & rooted latest software

I don't use any streaming services though. I have all my music saved on my SD card and play it from there and when I stream that music over Bluetooth to my car stereo, every now & then the audio will just go out (mute) for like a second and then come back on. I thought it was my friend's car stereo (Hyundai) but I'm driving a Chevrolet now and it's doing the same thing. So, I'm sure it's the phone because it happened on my original eVo LTE and I now have a replacement device that does the same thing.
I'm having the same issue, audio cutting out for like a split second at regular intervals.
I'm running OMNI dated 20140331 and kernel from that.
On stock 4.1 it didn't seem to do this.
I saw in another thread that boosting the min cpu frequency might help, I'll try that today.
Well that didn't work.
Anybody else have any ideas?

I've seen a few times it can be caused by the back cover being loose not sure if that is your issue but it's worth a shot
Sent from my EVO using XDA Free mobile app
It wasn't loose but I see the antenna contact points. I'll try applying pressure to the back cover over the bluetooth antenna contact point (as soon as I figure out which one is the bluetooth).
But I thought the issue with the back cover was total loss in bluetooth connectivity?
I don't have any problems connecting or staying connected. Just the audio stutters/skips.
Holding the back cover slightly below the headphone jack (where the wlan/bluetooth antenna contact points are) did not seem to make a difference.
I'll probably move the contact points out a bit anyway.
The only change to stock OMNI is restricting the max cpu freq to 702.
I'll try turning that off tonight.

Bluettoh Issues after upgrade to NF6

Has anyone been experiencing Bluetooth issues after upgrading to NF6?
I get the skipping effect from old CD players.
I am completely stock and using the stock Music application.
With my headphones I have Zero issues. In my car I have experienced this just once. will try it again when I leave work.
Update. I have no issues at all unless I have some apps running like ingress. Maybe more of an issue reading/processing the music file than the Bluetooth connection

Mine works fine with both normal blue tooth headset as well as with my car Bluetooth.

YES! Exactly the issue I'm having. The audio seems to cut out for just a split second. Annoying.
Same here.

I have the same issue, even on the original firmware. I think it has something to do with how the phone sleeps. When my screen is on, I don't get any cut-outs, but once the screen turns off, the skips begin. try changing your cpu governor to conservative on the stock kernel with an app like Rom Toolbox. I'm trying to narrow down this problem, and I got less skips on conservative than I do on Ondemand (default). I get no skips on my portable bluetooth speaker, which also kinda makes me feel like the low-power bluetooth 4.0 technology is something out car radios weren't designed to pick up. Had a GS3 on kitkat in the same car with no issues, so it isnt the OS itself, just a power state thing. I'm just spitballing here. anyone have any other thoughts? I'm still learning all this new crap about the GS5 that is making me lean toward an exchange. *cough* KNOX *cough*
sCReen on makes no difference.

I use the navigator with screen on. Music will still skip from time to time.
It really bums me out when I get these random skips, now I have noticed it happens more frequently when playing music stored on my phone (SD/internal) than when I am streaming (SoundCloud/Milk). I was thinking it could be the bit rate on those files, but I am starting to think it is just the phone because same song from my wife's GS3 played just fine via BT ...
Is anyone having these issues using the xposed framework? I uninstalled it to fix a health and now my skips are gone.
Mine seems to cut out when running apps in the background **** suck I thought it was my radio phewww
Sent from my SM-G900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've also noticed it when running background apps. I'll open the recent apps view and close all and it seems to help for awhile but then comes back. I drive for a living so I have lots of hours using bluetooth in my car. I use a bluetooth fm transmitter as well as a creative D200 speaker in my room. Both have the same problem. Doesn't matter if the screen is on or off. Facebook expecially seems to be an issue. I just don't understand why. You'd think that a 2.5 gHz quad core processor would be able to handle multiple tasks with no problem......... Bull S*#t if you ask me.

Android Wear trying to connect

Is anyone else having issues with Bluetooth and/or Android Wear? I got my P9000 a few days ago and the Sony Smartwatch 3 is frequently disconnecting. The Android Wear app just says trying to connect. The only way I can reestablish the connection is to reboot the phone. Neither turning Bluetooth off and back on not rebooting the watch help. The watch was rock solid with my Oneplus Two.
I have my P9000 connected to a Huawei watch... usually works great but in the area where Android wear lacks - reconnecting - the P9000 is even worse than my Nexus 5. After going out of range it often struggles to reinitiate connection.
Sent from my P9000 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Thanks. Unfortunately my issue isn't limited to going out of range, although that's usually the worst. Last night the phone and watch disconnected, whilst sat on my lapin the cinema, and refused to reconnect until the phone was rebooted.
Yes I've had the same problem. Also can't connect to my Bluetooth OBD reader in my car, it sees it, but refuses to connect

Having a problem too, connecting to Android car stereo. Connects okay but only for a split second then disconnects and then repeats about every 20 seconds.

Moto 360 (1st Gen) here, working fine with no issues.
Strange I have no issues connecting to any bluetooth devices (I mainly Moto 360, Jaybird headphones and Ford Car stereo)

If you go out of range, does it reconnect? Mine is fine as long as I don't get disconnected, but if I do, then a reboot of the phone is the only way

Yep, reconnects fine - mine disconnects every time I leave my room to go to the kitchen because of thick walls in my flat then reconnects just fine once I'm back in my room.
Right, a removal and reinstall of the Android Wear app has stopped the random disconnects. However, if I go out of range it doesn't reconnect. If I terminate the Android Wear app and restart it, however, the connection reestablished. Bluetooth to other devices is fine. It remains connected to my car streaming Spotify for hours without problem.
It seems I spoke too soon. The phone disconnected today despite being within 2' of my watch and terminating and restarting the Android Wear app didn't help. The only way to reestablish connection was to reboot the phone.
Mine lost connection today because I left the phone at home, when I got back it refuses to reconnect, even after a reboot.
I've force closed the app and nothing.
My Sony Z5 has been repaired, so I'm using that again now, but I still really like the P9000, so I'll keep an eye on development
