[Q] Volume rocker - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Got my new Z2 today and really happy with it except for one thing - the volume rocker seems faulty. The top half 'clicks' when increasing volume but when lowering it, it doesn't click, it's just smooth. Any of you have this issue? Deliberating over whether to take it back for replacement.
Thanks.

Does your power button click?

Like a software sound? Or a hardware sound?

Not software, it's a physical sensation you can feel. It feels almost as though it sticks and you don't feel a 'click'.
Sorry if I'm not explaining it correctly!

how durable are the buttons

I used HTC hero for nearly 2 years, and at first I was worried about the buttons gets less responsive if I press more, but they are still working fine, not sure about the galaxy buttons... any ideas?

The build quality is pretty good on the S2. Button presses feels solid. (Much like the iphone 4 power button)

Power botton

My power button is acting like its being pushed 2x every time i hit it. I turn my screen on and it turns it off. Is this a known issue? Lets hope not a hardware failure because of 1.5.

This happens to me as well. I don't think it's software, as it happens in recovery as well. I've accidentally formatted as a result.
Same. Not the format but came close to flashing a mod ghastly isn't supported by the phone. ****ty button design if you ask me. Volume rocker is a ***** to use. And the power is too sensitive and finicky
Hi all,
I have the same issue also. Anybody already resolved this issue? Thnx!
the og evo's power button and rockers were perfect. Pretty amazing that they made both worse for the 3d. That power button sometimes makes me want to switch phones. Awful. How that made it out of testing I have no idea.
Seems to have been a software problem. I get this problem only on certain tons.

Vibrant home button leakage

I've been searching on google and on here and can't seem to find a thread on it.
My home button led seems to leak half way into my display when i'm viewing a black screen.
The screen would display a black image and having the buttons on makes the home button leak on the screen
It is really annoying... Anyone else have this issue? it looks like a lightsaber on my phone...

Given where you sent this message from, I think you may be in the wrong forum.
If not, I can't say I've had such an issue, but apart from using a mod to turn off the LEDs for good, there's probably not much you can do.
i'm using my hd2 because I just got my vibrant from Samsung for a screen replacement....
No one has a problem if the led from home leaking?

thanks for your help!
Exact same problem with the home key, gradually learnt to live with it
How bad is yours? I just need to feel better about it lol
My gf is not as bad as mine

In complete darkness it gets to about half of the screen. In normal light its not as bad.

Yea I have the same problem, My gfs doesnt. I think its a factory defect when they are putting it together. One little pinhole in the paint that seperates the softkeys from the rest of the screen and boom, you have led glare half way up the screen.
I had 3 vibrants replaced an they all had same problem but I dont care buttons are off most of the time

I have this problem but it's very minor. I barely see it when dark. Do they just give you a new vibrant for replacement? Were you able to force them to let you do like an upgrade to a better phone or something?
no they replaced the chrome bezel and the housing + the display and glass...
It's practically new now..

Same exact thing here. The home button leakage is on most(if not all) vibrants. But it's only noticable in near or in pitch dark really. Using 2.2.1 roms turn off the lights while not being used but for some reason, that particular build on whatever rom always decreases sensitivity to the point where going back to used applications(holding home) doesn't work while the processor is being used extensively(800-1ghz) which is REALLY annoying. Anyone else by chance?

Since doing the work it too much, Ilm sure they instead give you a refurbished vibrant and used your old one for parts. In other words, Samsung didn't repair anything for yours but gave you another vibrant(which could be using parts from various sources).
It's the same imei and the same way the home button leaks... I also have a minor scratch on the camera which mine still has

Sunken home button

Does anyone else have a sunken in home button? I've had my SGS3 for about two weeks and the home button seems to be lower. I went to the Sprint store today and compared it to the floor model and the button on that one seems to be slightly raised. Is this just from daily use? I doubt it is since I've only it for a short period of time. Would love to have some insight from other members before I go in for a possible swap.

Mine is doing the same thing. I guess we need to wait and see if it becomes a problem.

Yeah, but I want to know while I'm still in my two week grace period

Another reason to ditch the home button lol...i havent touched the home button since the first wk i got my phone, using LMT to replace the buttons
mine is like a half mm raised
maybe it's just a false perception due to a case?

App that allows you to use either gestures or Pie chart with onscreen buttons to replace the capacitive/physical home button, I use pie chart u can remap the shortcuts, i never need to use the home button or capacitives.
Nah. I took off the case and screen protector to make sure and my button is definitely lower. Was just wondering if this is common after a couple weeks (which I highly doubt) or if my device is faulty

I'm going to try it also. Is there a way to unlock the phone with an action? It's a terrible interface, but has some useful features.

Camera Rattle

With two cameras on back the rattle seems much more significant. You can hear the rattle just putting phone up to head. Sucks but only complaint thus far except Dot View Case is a bit hard to hold due to the curved back.
Not me. You may have a defective unit.

I have two and both exhibit the same rattle which was also present on the original One as well. Just like iPhone and nexus 5 as well. I think having two cameras exasperated the problem.
Sure its not the volume rocker rattling? Put a finger on the volume rocker then check for a rattle

this. it sounded like mine was rattling, but i put my finger on the volume rocker and now it's silent when i shake it. there shouldn't be any noise from the camera since there is no OIS in it to move around
