[Q] htc one charging VERY slow - AT&T HTC One (M7)

hi.
i got the htc for about 3-4 months. at beggining it was perfect. good battery and charging FAST AS FCK , but now, it charges SO slow.
im using the original htc cable to charge it, the cable that came with the phone. and plugged in to the wall plug.
if im using the phone while its charging its just not charging and even the battery still goes down WHEN ITS CONNECTED. so for it to charge i need for like 3-4 hours not the touch the phone at ALL.
at the beggining when i got the phone i could be gaming on the phone and still battery whould go up. now even if everything is closed, ONLY whatsapp is open and im on whatsapp the battery keep going down.
all my apps are closed and nothing running.
any solutions for it or what should i do?

Well the logical step here is taking out variables. Since the phone is the more costly, i would suggest replacing the charger with another that does at least two amps and see if it is the problem. They can go bad since they are being put under a good load by the phone. If the charger is not the problem then the battery may be bad. Unfortunately they are not replaceable by the average user. The phone would need to be sent in for repair or replaced.

[Q] X10 Slow Battery Charging. Help please!

Hello. Today I bought an Xperia X10 from a SH store. Anyway the phone came in great conditions and at a great price. The boy from there gave me the phone and charger + USB cable. All things good till I start charging it. I should mention that when I got the phone it was at aprox. 60% and after using intensively (like when you just buy a phone) it was, after 5 h, at 22%.
Let's get to the problem: I plug the phone with the charger to socket and let it charge. After 3h it went from 22% to 52% . I mean this is really impossible to understand.
My question is how can I find what is wrong. Now I'm wondering if the charger or the USB cable or the Battery is not original.
On the charger there is written SonyEricsson, so I guess it is original. I'll try tomorrow to search for it's S/N on the net. The Output Voltage is 5V and 700mA, which I saw that is normal for an original charger.
The USB cable looks kind of fishy to me.
The battery seems original.
So what could it be wrong and how can I find it out? Any thoughts, beside what I've asked, about this kind of problem are well appreciated.
Thank you.
That's odd considering the current that was flowing to your battery. Try turning off your phone and charging it to 100%. Maybe It needs some adjusting. Also i suggest rooting your phone, no problems with battery at all with the ROMS that are out
Thank you for your fast response. I'll try to charge it to full when it is powered off to see if time differs.
When do you mean "no battery problems with available ROM's" do you mean no charging problems?
yes i mean that
The only reasons u could have a reduction of current is if heat is an issue or if your phone is in heavy use. Also if the charger is faulty of course. So check the temperature while charging and try diabling wifi and any data u have going on the phone. That should help.

Thank you for your response. While I left the phone charging there was nothing running at all. Also I didn't notice the phone heating too much.
I went to the guy from who I bought the phone, and he said that he will order an original charger at no cost for me. So I think I'll wait for that one and see how it works.
But out of curiosity: could it also be the cable that is limiting the power? The cable is not original.

Yes, a faulty cable can't charge the phone properly.
Wait and see how it goes with the new charger!
Did you plug it in staight after you used it? My phone seems to drain when it is at around 45 degrees even though it doesnt feel hot. Let it cool by turning it off for 10 minutes or so and try again.

Everything is fine now with the new charger which looks more than original and the USB Cable, also original. (The charge time is ~ 2-3h - empty -> full)
Thank you all for your help.

Hot device when charging.

As the title would suggest, my poor GS2 gets VERY hot when charging. Not all the time, but often.
If I charge from my PC's USB, it doesn't, but when I use a mains charger, it overheats.
When I finish my night shifts, my battery could be down to 20%, so when I go to bed, I plug in the phone, set it's alarm and pop it under my pillow, like I have done with every phone I've ever owned without issue. I wake up during the night and pull out the phone to check the time and almost leap out of bed because of how hot the device has become.
To make matters worse, it's discharged in battery power. This morning was the final straw, as when I checked the phone and it was red hot, it was also dead. I held down the power button and booted up the phone. It showed 15% battery left. I know people say that when it's charged, remove it from the charger, but it isn't practical. Besides, I've never had to do this on any other phone I've owned. This is unacceptable for me to rely on any more. Is this a common issue?
Or my fault because I have rooted the phone the tried custom roms/kernels/modems on it before?

1) change to a diff kernel and see for the issue.
2) well charging from 10~20% to full 100% will lead to heat up the phone than charging from 50~60% to full 100% , hence also check for the same and see

I should have mentioned. This happens on any Rom and I've tried 4 kernels and still the same issue. Only thing I haven't tried, is going back to Samsung stock rom. Going to try that today, see if that solves it and report back.
Like Samsung told my wife "when it gets hot dial *#*#4636#*#* and note the battery temp".
Is it still under warranty
Sent from my GT-I9100
Well the PC's USB output would be limited to .5 A whereas your wall charger could provide 2 A. This might just be normal IMO, although I can't say that my phone gets ridiculously hot during charging. As others mentioned, I would check the battery temp.
The issue is already in his post and the solution as well.
1) The S2 has the tendacy to get hot. Its all very compact and there are no internal ventilators so the S2 dissipates heat to the rest of its body.
2) There is a Power difference between the charger and a USB cable. The charger gets hotter since it delivers power directly of a higher voltage and slightly higher amps then a usb port.
Your issue comes from one sole thing. Your bed. beds have very poor heat dissipating abilities, in fact, it has none. Considering no fresh air is delivered to your device, because it is stored under your pillow. Not to mention your pillow, the rest of your bed stop heat from leaving and it builds up. Ontop of that your heavy head is resting on it, pressing the pillow tight around the device.
in short, it has no way to relieve the heat. There is a simple solution of a non technical matter. Don't put the darn device under your pillow.
(the same counts to people that use there laptops on there beds pillow or covers without a proper cooling matt, before wondering why the hell there device shut down all of a sudden.)
The problem is you put your phone under your pillow. I made this mistake a few weeks ago and the phone was too hot but no problem when i charge it somewhere not under the pillow
I agree, I should stop doign that. But one question, if that's the case and the getting hot is normal, then why did the battery drop from 100% to 8% while plugged in?
Your cooking the battery, thats why.
i'll admit i charge my phone and leave it ON the bed so air still circulates but it did used to get hot. Not sure if any changes i've made such to things kernel, ROM, modem or undervolting has caused my change in temps but my phone never feels warm anytime day or night weather its on charge or not where as my partners phone (stock sgs2) does get hot using the same charging habits as myself

Another odd issue. If I mains charge my phone or connect it to my laptop(not PC the PC charging seems to not effect it) the phone lags. Menus take longer and it really struggles to register my touches on screen.

For the AC charger this problem is known: if the charger is of poor quality it will generate too much 'noise' (ripple) which disturbs the electric field used by the touchscreen. However the original Samsung charger is of good quality and does not have this problem.
Experiencing these kind of problems when charging by a laptop USB port however is abnormal.
Interesting.
I bought an official Samsung charger off ebay, and it produces the same results. Much to my frustration.
Leaving it plugged in all night however was fine, I placed it on a shelf and the phone was actually cold when I woke up. I'm just worried the battery is ruined. It seems to drain quite quick.

Another problem i faced recently was the battery draining to fast, i was told to pull the battery out for atleast 3 mins, this lets the CPU etc cool off, since then i've had no problems at all and getting a good 12 hrs atleast on battery use

The Mega charging/discharging issues..

I love my Mega. It is by far the best phone Ive ever had. But, the problems I have with the power usage and management on the device are a total nightmare.
1) The discharging nightmare:
The battery lasts NOTHING. Basically I get about 5 hours of use.. maximum.. no matter what I do.. and I have slimmed down to the ROM to having that NOTHING active.. I literally am left with active 6 services and I monitor CPU usage that is always near zero with NO apps hogging resources. From what I monitor on the device's battery usage, it's clearly always about 90% from the display! And yes, I dim the screen as much as I can of course, but usually not below 1/2way.. I hate screens too dim. However even just on standby with the screen off I still lose about 5% to 8% of battery an hour. Worse, even with the device Powered OFF, I still lose about 20% of battery a day. The ONLY way I have found out to control battery drain completely, is to take the battery out. That's it. Anyone else with similar symptoms and a fix or, is just that the stock battery totally sucks??? Also, any other off brand batteries are any better?.. (not the fat ones rated at much higher amps but that have an extra bulge.. that I don’t want)..
2) The charging nightmare:
This to me is the worse problem. It is bad enough how quickly this device issues battery, bit not nearly as bad as trying to charge efficiently again. I now have tried 3 different chargers/brands (and cables) to try fix the charging problem that is, it takes HOURS and HOURS to charge the battery. I am talking 5 to 6 hours to get it charged and if the screen is on and Im using the device it actually charges NOTHING at all and still keeps discharging (albeit much slower of course)... the fact is that the charging process is so pathetically slow that is less than real-time which means, with the device connected to power supply, the battery STILL drains if I try use it. This is absurd. However, mysteriously enough I have found ONE way that charges the phone super fast.. using a SONY External Power Pack (model CP-F1L) rated at 2200mAh. This is seems crazy because the power output of an external power pack should be much lower than the stock (and other Samsung) USB chargers.. but, it's what works.. the ONLY thing that works. And I have noticed that when connected to a USB Power charger, the Mega's Red LED light turn on faded.. however, when connected to the SONY External Power Pack, is bright red. Clearly more juice going in.. or something like that. Again, anyone else with similar symptoms and a fix the charging time, or, any good recommendation on a extra strong USB power adapter/charger that will make this thing at least charge faster?
Thanks in advance for the input and advice:silly:
Sounds like something is not letting your phone sleep or the battery is defective. Try putting CPU spy on it and let it set for a while. Then check to see if it is getting into deep sleep or if it is even stuck at a certain frequency.
There is an app on the playstore called Galaxy charging. Try it to see what rate it is charging. Though with the rate your phone discharges, the charger may only being supplying an amount just over the drain rate which is why it takes so long to charge.

Yes this is not normal, I get five hours screen time on fifteen hours usage.
Sent from my GT-I9205 using Tapatalk 2
Yep, something wrong there. I'm stock and this thing won't quit :good:
I would flash the stock rom back into your phone and see how the battery works then as this not normal as mentioned by other members as I am still on the stock rom but rooted only and I have great battery life.
That is were to start by flashing the stock rom and if no change then battery or maybe a hardware problem.
Did you have good battery life before you starting flashing with the phone or did this occur after the stock rom was removed and custom rom with stuff removed to gain performance?

You could try to remove the battery from the phone for about 5 secs and re-install and see it that helps as sometimes if you take the charger off as soon as it is done charging it might not show 100% at times when booting as I leave mine on for a bit longer and it seems to help..even though charge light is green..I leave it longer on.
If your phone is rooted get a app called battery calibrator from the google store as it is free and install it and just before you shut down the phone to charge wipe the battery stats with this app and then shutdown phone and fully charge and then see how the battery works after the battery stats wipe as that can usually help.

Thanks for the tip. Installed the app you recommend, now I understand better. With the stock Samsung USB charger I get 420 readings. With the other 2 chargers I get 500 and 540. However, with the Sony External Power Pack I get 1900!..no wonder it charges super fast with it! My question now is what's up with all the USB chargers I have? I even tried my old Galaxy Tab 7 charger (strongest rated charger I have) and still only feeds 480. This is all so bizarre. So, where to get a super strong charger for the Mega?
(sorry.. by whatever reason my reply got posted 4 times.. so strange. I try delete the first three but cant)..

Usually when this happens there is something wrong with the USB cable not necessarily the charger. Is the sony cable a USB type cable or a hard wired one? If it is USB type try using it with the other chargers and see what your results are.

Yes indeed I notice the Sony Power Pack cable is short and thick. The Samsung cable is long and thin. I get much higher charging power using the thick short cable. Maybe I need go shop for a proper longer/thicker cable.

I've certainly found the USB cable makes a big difference to the charging speed. I got a couple of 2m cables off Ebay and they're hopelessly slow, but the stock Samsung cable is fast. I just wish it was a bit longer!
I have the same issue
I have the Sprint Mega. Not refurbished and original factory state but I have horrific charge/discharge issues. Right now, my phone just got to 100% charge which I then unplugged the charge cable. Within 5 mins, I went from 100% to 96% and it is losing battery even quicker.
VeEuzUKY: It's been a while but do you still have this phone? Any updates? I should prob invest in a thicker USB cable like you've describe. It has the most charge rate.
I got my mega 6.3 last week. Since then it has said 100% charged... even when charging or dead. So I got a new battery thinking it was the battery but its obviously not and im not sure what it is that could be the problem. Im not sure if its crucial for my phone, if it can be fixed easily and cheaply, or if I need to return my phone to the place I bought it from.

Galaxy S II not charging

hello so I have enjoying my phone for about 2 years.:laugh::laugh: but I had this problem recently. When I try to charge my phone when its about 30% below, It doesn't charge. When I plug my phone, the battery says the phone is charging but the percentage doesn't count, I mean battery percentage still reduces even tho it is charging. When it drains, it shows a battery with a yellow triangle and wont open again.
Any help? Anything I can do about this??

Try a new/different battery. It sounds like yours is about to die
oh sorry, I forgot to mention that, I have bought a new battery. An Original one. I think I bought it about 3 weeks ago
If you bought your 'original' battery from eBay, the chances are that it's the exact opposite of original......
That aside, I'm thinking that it *could possibly* be the USB port on the device.....
If as you say, your device is over 2 years old, you've done well for the port to last that long......
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
I have bought a usb board on ebay too, about month ago because the port's solder is messed up and I got no clue fixing it. It works for about a month properly. But I just had this problem.
I saw some articles outside XDA, that I should remove the battery, wait 10 secs, then plug charger and immediately insert the battery and turn it on.
My phone finally works, and it charges properly. But I have to do it a lot of times just my phone to charge hahahah!
Thanks mate :--)
Lol...well done fella. ...I didn't do a lot though....it was you that found the fix.....
This issue will more than likely happen again, but at least you now know how to sort it.....

[Q] Quick Charge

So guys i got few questions about it.
Lg v10 has quick charging feature so i wanna know that how that works.
its works always, and any % ? or there is a certain point for it to work. im asking this bcus today i had 10% battery left and i plugged in its original charger with original cable which supporting quick charge. it was charging normally till 32%. i realized that and i plugged off charger and plugged back again it was still normal charging . then i again plugged of and closed phone and plugged it back when phone was off. it otomatically started phone and i entered my pin code. boom it started to quick charge
sso can some 1 explain me that quick charge?
Also that hifi dac works with bluetooth earbuds? like hbs910 - hbs 1100 or samsung level u pro ?( sorry my bad english )
Hmm... I'm under the impression quick charge only works with the screen off. Could that have played a part in this?
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
My V10 also meets this issue. when your phone running out of battery at 0% lowest level, it is hard to activate the quick charger, i have to replug and unplug charger many times 10 times more to activate the charge process, the screen with phone and cable keep blinking and blinking...
But if your V10's battery still remain and you wanna charge, you just unplug and re-plug about 3 or 5 times, the quick-charge will activate. I have no idea if this relates to Software or Hardware issue.
SOLVED: my cable connecting my charger and phone is broken, change the cable, issue is solved!
Well I didn't think that I ll need quick charge since I was using z2 bcus I could have a full day no matter how much I use the phone. It was charging like in 3.5 hours. So I was charging it only when I go bed. But since v10's battery life isn't that good I realy need quick charge. I waited few months for bot buying first wave of v10 but still I bought first wave I guess. Let's hope it's software problem and get fixed soon

Well for me it works all the time. When i connect my original cable and charger i always get quick charge notification and it takes around 1 hour to fully charge the battery. I recommend though to leave the phone connected on charger for around 1 to 1.5 hour more if possible. This way the phone tops the battery charge fully getting additional around 200mA charge. You can install battery monitor widget from market and you will see that the phone continues to slowly charge after telling that battery is full. This stops when battery ot charged to the max.
0% to full takes 1 hour? that is rly nice since mine takes atleast 90 mins... even it says quick charging
