Galaxy S II not charging - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello so I have enjoying my phone for about 2 years.:laugh::laugh: but I had this problem recently. When I try to charge my phone when its about 30% below, It doesn't charge. When I plug my phone, the battery says the phone is charging but the percentage doesn't count, I mean battery percentage still reduces even tho it is charging. When it drains, it shows a battery with a yellow triangle and wont open again.
Any help? Anything I can do about this??

Try a new/different battery. It sounds like yours is about to die

oh sorry, I forgot to mention that, I have bought a new battery. An Original one. I think I bought it about 3 weeks ago

If you bought your 'original' battery from eBay, the chances are that it's the exact opposite of original......
That aside, I'm thinking that it *could possibly* be the USB port on the device.....
If as you say, your device is over 2 years old, you've done well for the port to last that long......

I have bought a usb board on ebay too, about month ago because the port's solder is messed up and I got no clue fixing it. It works for about a month properly. But I just had this problem.
I saw some articles outside XDA, that I should remove the battery, wait 10 secs, then plug charger and immediately insert the battery and turn it on.
My phone finally works, and it charges properly. But I have to do it a lot of times just my phone to charge hahahah!
Thanks mate :--)

Lol...well done fella. ...I didn't do a lot though....it was you that found the fix.....
This issue will more than likely happen again, but at least you now know how to sort it.....

hi, my battery was really low than my phone turned off. i went home to charge but no charging sign. tried to charge it for 1 hour nothing happend. did my phone just died? or can i do somthing to get it back to work?
also i drained it 3 times the past 3 days, could i have broken the battery becouse of this?
try plugging the charger in with the battery out, and fit the battery after and see if it starts to charge? maybe leave it connected overnight or try another battery if possible.

I'm not an expert, so double check the information I'm giving you, as it might be wrong.
Have you tried to use a USB jig to revive the phone? You can buy one on eBay for €5. Hopefully it will solve the problem.
Otherwise, I don't think that it should be the case, but it is reported that SSD drives can be completely erased when they suffer a subtle power cut. In this case, there is no damage other than the complete wipe of all information on the memory. As far as I'm concern, the phone's memory is quite similar to SSD and other flash memories, therefore it would be a possibility, although it is not likely.
Should it be the case, it's better to seek Samsung Service Centre's help. Running out of battery should never damage the phone, therefore, if you have warranty it should be covered.
also i noticed that after a few hours of trying to charge it the battery feels really colld. could this mean the battery is dead?

i had to shock the battery with 5v dc till i got the voltage upto 3.2v than put back into phone than on charge but it still drains out completely. any help on how u solved your problem?

battery disconnected

getting this when i put on charge, also getting a yellow triangle with a battery on it and phone randomly turns of,should i just buy a new battery or is it a bigger problem
When I plug it in and it has the little yellow triangle that means the battery is critically low; meaning that it is so low that there is not even enough juice to turn the phone on while plugged in. Generally that means you just charge the phone for a couple, or few minutes, and it'll no longer be in that critcally low stage, and you can turn it on. Also, I've gotten the yellow triangle with a thermometer in it before. That means your battery, or phone temperature is too high/hot and basically I think it drains your battery and or stops charging. I've had that too once because I used an LG charger which had a higher voltage (if you use a charger with a reallyyyy high voltage - compared to what you should use, your phone can also catch on fire..). So those are the two Triangles I've gotten, but most likely you got the low battery one. Just let it charge for a bit. The random shut off is because the battery is really low....? My guess is either you don't know what is going on in which case read the above. Or that your battery won't hold a charge, and even though you've charged it for a while, it's still saying it is critically low. If that's the case look into getting a new battery, or also try a different charger first. May be the charger is not charging the batt, but i doubt it. Good luck
it was at 75% when it started going nuts today,i will see what happens tomorrow, cheers for reply
its now not working with the original charger but with my nexus one it comes on and off,its starting to get to me :silly:

Any better luck today? If it goes on and off, I'd say your battery is probably ****ed haha. Considering you tried two DIFFERENT chargers and they both didn't work (assuming both your chargers worked fine before). I don't want to like direct you toward getting a new battery or anything, but honestly that seems like a very likely explanation.
Worked!
This happened to my phone and it really is a simple fix. First take the battery out of the phone for about 10 seconds. Then with the battery out plug the phone up, wait a few seconds, and put the battery in and immediately press power. Should be as good as new. source: Battery on samsung galaxy s2 wont charge anymore?

[Q] Battery doesn't charge with working cable and port

Hello there people!
Basically this is my first post on here because it's actually the first time that I couldn't find a thread covering the same/similar problem that I'm experiencing...
Here's my issue:
I've got two batteries for my SGS 2, the standard 1650mAh battery and an extended 2000mAh battery (Official Samsung Extended Battery Kit), which I bought about half a year ago, when the stock one started giving me battery life of only few hours.
Yesterday, when my battery died I plugged it into my PC and booted the phone back up immediately without letting it charge even a little bit because I was in a hurry... Since I started using it right away the battery drained faster than it could charge and died within seconds with the screen flickering.
I knew I wasn't really being nice to the battery so I finally let it turned off to charge...
This was when I noticed that it wouldn't charge at all (no charging indicator), though it did seconds before when it was on.
So I tested different USB cables and sockets --> Not charging.
I replaced the battery with the old one that I haven't used in months --> Charging!
These results prove that the charger itself and the USB port of the phone do work and indicate that the issue is with the extended battery.
Now my question is: Can a battery just break so suddenly and if yes, is it fixable and how? I knew a battery can get weaker with age and become useless this way and that the most common reason for a battery to not charge at all are broken components (usb cable or port) but I never knew batteries could suddenly stop working.
Keep in mind the 'broken' battery is relatively new (5 months) in comparison to the old one which was in duty for 2+ years.
Another thought: Maybe it's a problem with the phone, 'not recognizing' the battery after it had its sudden death?
I hope my description was somewhat clear and thank you guys in advance for your help and suggestions!
P.S. Don't know if it's of any help here but I'm running a cm 10.2 nightly (Android 4.3.1)
Of course batteries can die like that after a few mths. Manufacturing process isn't always perfect, some of questionable quality will always get through QC. Fix a battery - You're kidding, right ?
I doubt you can get a replacement, most guarantees on phone batteries are 90 days in my experience, but you can certainly go back to the seller & try.

[Q] Battery problem... quite bad.

I have a Galaxy S3 that I bought 2 years ago in the Samsung Store. Unlocked, of course. I have never rooted it, or done anything like that to the phone. I have been always careful with it.
But I have been having this battery problem for almost 1 year and I'm very tired...
Everytime I try to charge my phone it just odesn't charge, it discharges or charges veeeeeeery sloooowly. No matter if I do it with the phone on or off. When it charges normally I get so happy I could die
Things I have tried:
-getting a new battery
-getting a new USB cable and adapter.
-checking the charging port (sorry I'm not an english speaker so I dunno how to say that)
-erasing all data and leaving my phone as if it was new
-EVERYTHING
What I'm doing to use it:
I bought a universal battery charger. I got 2 batteries. I charge one, put it on my phone while I charge the other. Each battery charges in 8 hours or so, sometimes 9. Yes, I'm suffering. Please, help me. I have no money to get a new phone, plus, I'm underage. I'm a girl.
PLEASE HELP ME!

Try to calibrate your bettery, you said you bought a new battery, charge it till 100% and then download a battery calibration app from play store, calibrate the battery and see how it goes.I also have this problem, fast discharge but I calibrated the battery this morning and I can see the things go to better

What does that mean :silly:
Anyhoo, borrow someone else's charger + usb cable and see. If it doesn't work for you (but obviously works for other person) then you're probably looking at a faulty charging port (yes you said it right lol) or a malfunctioning power IC. I'd bet on the port tthough.
It's stupid, to wait 1 year until guarantee is gone. I suppose an internal hardware-defect.

Redmi Note 4 Dead battery?

Hi to all.
Strange things are happening with my battery, phone...
In last few days my battery can't hold much. It drains very fast, i mean very very fast. When i use the phone, maybe it can hold for 1 hour and more. Just browsing, chat, nothing special. When i put the phone to the charger it's also charging very fast, and even,it's skipping the numbers. For example, i'm looking at my phone, it's 19%, and for another moment it's 21-22%, maybe 15-20 seconds difference, literally you can see numbers skipping. Also, for example, i have now 45% battery, it's not on charger, and the second moment when you look at the phone it's 48%, that usually happens when the phone is in sleep or stanby mode, call it whatever you want.
I won't try flashing ROMs , factory reset etc... because the same thing happens when the phone it's turned off. I mean, the fast charging and skipping problem.
I don't have any problem with heating. The phone works as usuall, it's fast and everything. Well, from my earlier experience, the battery is probably dead. I even ordered a new one, but it will take a few weeks to arrive from China.
I will post also a screenshot of battery stats, and i will mark the parts where you can see the percentage of battery going up, even when it's not on charger (what the heck).
Does anybody have this kind of or similiar experience/problem? Not on the same phone, i meant in other phones also. Could be there some problem with motherboard, charging, or something else?
Here's the screenshot. I hope everybody will understand what am i talking about.

I'm wondering if you have a hardware issue, you stated in another thread your battery was charging in an hour, now that is very unusual to me.
It should be around +/- 2hrs with phone switched off.

Well i'm also wondering. I will found out probably soon, when i get the new battery. From the start, when i bought the phone it always took less than 2 hours to charge, later that changed a little bit. The charging got faster over time. I was never thinking to much about it. The phone is really useless now, at the moment i don't have another phone. I was thinking buying a new one, but i will probably wait to see the results when i change the battetry.

I'd be interested to know when you do replace it, whether it's just an inheritly bad battery or something to to with the charging PCB.

Hi to All, and Hi to you Wilderone!
As i already wrote, i was waiting for the battery to arrive, and it arrived yesterday. I replaced the battery, it was charged already to 41%. For now, the battery is holding quite good. No "problem" while charging either. It takes now approx. 1 hour and 50 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%. Before, it was approx 70 minutes. I can't tell yet anything about the battery life, because it was charged only one time, and i didn't use it much from yesterday because i was working all the day, but i hope i will be able to post battery stats in a few days. So i hope that it was only bad battery, and that there is no problem with motherboard or with the Charging PCB. Will keep you informed.
