[Q] BST Dongle for Samsung and most Android devices - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Some of you might remember me asking in the forum to solve the IMEI problem on a Galaxy S3 NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK.
I was not able to solve the problem even though I tired the impossible.
I came across a YouTube video repairing IMEI using a software and a piece of hardware and I was very impressed what this tool can do!!
So, I decided to buy it which had cost me 100$, but even though if it didn't help me solve my problem, I will most certainly need it in the future for ton of things.
It's called BST Dongle.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RZZrQCm9bQ
Now, I saw some videos on YouTube but I can’t see how do you connect the UART r523k
I have that cable and I connect it to that piece of hardware which has 4 ports.
1 port service cable and 1 port USB OUT (I put the UART R523K there and I connected the other end to my phone)
1 port USB IN 1 PORT USB OUT, What do I put there?!!
Please I need help.

xda and bluetooth

Hi,
Anyone know how to connect bluetooth to
O2 XDA? Thanks.
Bluetooth usb adaptor F8T001
Use bluetooth usb adaptor F8T001.
The XDA can only be hooked up as USB slave. Meaning it can only talk to a computer, not to peripherals, such as bluetooth adapters.
What?
That BlueTooth adapter is for adding Bluetooth to a computer with a USB port. That is the Belkin adapter.
That wont work.
IF someone has seen something... Id like to know... but as far as I know its not possible considering the SD slot does not support SD/IO and a serial implementation would be bulky. Furthermore the USB sync connection does not offer USB host which is what is needed to use USB devices. To my knowledge there is only one or two Pocket PCs that have this. The toshiba and one of the Cassiopeias.
BeDammit
YellowTab... the ressurection of BeOS
long usb sync connection
No bluetooth on Xda.
Only option is to use a very long usb sync connection?
bluetooth with usb port?
Hi,
Anyone know if there is such thing as a bluetooth with usb port?
Thank you.
Yes, but it would not help you since the device can only talk to USB-equipped computers, not to USB devices. To use BDSM terminology, it's a 'slave' and not a 'master', and doesn't like reverse roleplay.
I am lost here
I just dont understand why there is no way to use bluetooth on Xda
since you can use a usb sync cable or infrared to synchronised the
xda & desktop pc. Can there be a blue tooth unit at the end of the
usb sync cable that hook up to xda to received the signal from the bluetooth adaptor that connect to the desktop pc usb port. I thought
it is like just cutting the usb sync cable and using sort of wireless
medium to joint their ends. I understand a little bit about xda being a slave device etc but dont understand the part that you cannot use
sort of connections or adaptors etc to transmit signal? Maybe those
guys from bluetooth,SIG, will look into this area. So far as I know
they only have bluetooth to connect pc to printer and keyboard.
Seems like they say something like the OS of xda will not accept
bluetooth etc.. Hope you experts can enlightened me. Thank you.
Yeah, no problem! Go stick a Blutooth adapter on the end of a USB cable........then come back and let us know when you have paired the two devices up.
Hi everybody,
I´m new in here, so please forgive me when I'm asking stupid questions or anything
several things I found out so far :
first of all, of course there is a difference between a USB host and a USB device, as BeDammit pointed out correctly above. To use USB devices, the XDA would need host function instead of its built-in USB slave used for synchronisation. Generally speaking, there are just a few devices offering both host and slave function, since there are only a few USB chips offering both (for the developers: Philips has just launched some new of these chips).
For PDAs with Compact Flash, there is a new solution, which you can check out here : http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/products/subpages/cfu1u.html
(If they'd only had a SD version... :? )
Nevertheless, a synchronisation via bluetooth should still be possible since xda would only be a slave. There are some guys here in Germany offering Bluetooth Headsets via ebay, article number is 3329163765. On this auction's site they say : "don`t keep telling us your xda has no bluetooth; we know that. Therefore you will be delivered an additional bluetooth adaptor " (sic!)
I have not gone further to this so far, for actually I don't have my xda yet... 8) , but maybe this helped you a little further...
<half an hour later : >
I got it ! I got it ! It's made by Toshiba, but compatible. Check it out here :

Interesting
Anyone care to look more closely into this product and give us some feedback? Unfortunately I don't have the skills to do such a thing.
Cheers!
XDAs do not support SDIO cards, only SD memory cards...
(And doing a search in older messages would have revealed this same answer, only about 50 times...)
I have heaRD THAT o2 MAY BE RELEASING AN xda with triband and 64Mb ROM c/w bluetooth. A dealer told me but no word on the net. The XDA 64i apparently.
Anyone else heard that?
E-Ten P700
Yes, I got a reply from the supplier E-Ten who told
me The new device with bluetooth will be call E-Ten P700.
It is similar to O2xda just like their older version P600 series
but this one will have bluetooth. Their P610 has wifi 802.11b.
But the new P700 will only be release Q3. Most probably O2xda
new release might be around the same time. Cheers

Newbie help: I cant connect my 2nd hand XDA1 to pc......

Please help, i bought my xda off ebay for £117.
it works great, but when i set it in the usb sync cradle and get pc to look for it, nothing is found on any serial/usb connections.
is there something im not doing right ?
i have not got the original xda drivers disks, so perhaps i need that ?
please help, as i cant use this till i get it sorted....
You need Active Sync from Mircosoft .......
Take a look at their side and download it....
HTH
Stefan
ive done this, i even tried 3.5 and 3.6 to see if any difference.
but the pc can not detect the xda at all.
unknown usb device comes up on the screen when i connect it to the docking station however, so it appears to be connected to pc hardware wise..
ive tried it on 2 diff pcs to rule that out, and its still the same.
is there a specific driver i need on the windows machine, or is active sync ALL i need..
like.. whats on the official xda cd u get with it? no drivers or anything ?
is it possible the xda/docking station are faulty ?
re;
If you have windows Xp, u dont need any driver. For windows 98 etc, you may need a driver wceusb or so on the original cd that came with your xda. if you dont have, ask a friend.
Do a soft reset, plug in the xda to the usb cradle or lead, wait for the new hardware found message, it should say "htc blah blah", if it is saying unknown hardware try a different usb port, if you are plugging the cable to a usb hub, try plugging it direct to the pc usb port.
hi there, i originally had it plugged into a usb2 PCI 4 port card....
this did not work, so i then plugged it straight into the usb socket that was on the motherboard, but this too made no difference....
what i intend to do now is go to o2 shop and explain it to them and see if they will sell me an xda to usb cable .. not a cradle.. so i can eliminate that from the problem....
it SHOULD all work however, as it was bought from a shop that re sells used phones. ratings of over 5000 on ebay! lol
even have support on 0800 number.. ill give them a ring on monday and see what they can do for me.
thanks for all ur help.

XDA1 / 2
Have had exactly the same problem with computer (XP) not recognising the xda2 cradle through usb or seriel. After many hours of pulling at my hair I have found due to me having a PDA connected a year ago through a similar process, that your system registry still holds the details and that one conflicts against the other. The only way I could connect was to re-format my hard drive (computer) and it then worked first time a bore I know but it's worth it! GOOD LUCK....
i think the cradle was faulty in my case. either way, it doesnt matter now, as the xda is dead... :/ 2 days old..
returned to place i got it.
XDA1 /2
Sorry to hear that. I think you've been very unfortunate, the XDA 2 is a superb bit of machinery. I change my mobile/pda every 6 month and I think this is the best model to date. I've had the Sony Erricson P800 + P900 - both great phones etc. but not as good. Go out and buy yourself another one fast - if you can find one that is!
too dear.. o2 were able to get me one as an upgrade to my contract phone, but it was £350
too dear..
on ebay they are like 450 2nd hand..
ill wait a while.
is it MUCH better than the xda1?#

Change Slave USB XDA to master USB device?

HI everybody
All of us know SD slot of wallaby devices dont support SDIO and this is the most important disadvantage of these smartphones that we can not connect many prepherals. So this is an interesting challange to think about this problem.
I'm not an specialist in electronics and Just I read a message from coolhawk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=21120&highlight=rs232+usb+gps) and this was intersting for me, if a guy could connect a usb gps to XDA, maybe we can connect other usb prepherals too. If we can change the xda device from slave to master usb device, maybe we can connect many of prepheral usb devices such as camera, gps, bluetooth and network card.
what's ur idea
thanks
I dont think he is solving the usb slave/master problem with the gps, he is converting the signal to serial and wiring it into the com port to be read by gps software. He isnt actually using usb

Did it work before you flashed angelrom?
i didnt try it before my friend....today i bought the converter from micro usb to usb......so...is there any service that maybe did not is enable in the custom rom....and cant run the usb host....
It's unlikely that it's the ROM, as this is a feature that many people use.
It may be that what you are trying to use simply doesn't work. Do you have a USB mouse you could try? Also, is the device that you are connecting powered, or does it expect power from the USB connection?
well...i connect 3 devices... a keyboard...a mouse...and a usb strage stick....
and no led...power on...of the devices
In that case, I suggest you ask on the thread where you got the ROM. Have you already searched that thread to see if anyone else has the same problem?
i did a quick search...but i didnt find anything important...well ok my friend thx....

don't bother checking with more devices or posting in the rom thread, you just bought the wrong cable for otg purposes.
a simple converter from micro usb to usb won't do, the sgs2 discovers connected devices by the resistor between pin 4 and 5 of the micro usb plug inserted, and afaik, a usb otg cable needs a 200k resistor (if you decide to weld one in yourself, double check the number against other threads, i am not sure about that). simple converters, adapters and even some "usb otg" marked cables don't have a resistor in there.
and if the correct resistor is present in the plug, the device should discover the cable when plugged in, and then you can connect any device afterwards and get another notification. (as is seen in the usb otg video in the accessories section.)
i hope you did not pay too much on that cable, or have the possibility to return it for a refund or exchange, because yours has little to no known uses.
Thanks Chef, I didn't know that. That's the "something new" that I learnt today
thx my friend..i give 4 euro for this ****...but its ok....
i m gonna buy....this one of nokia cable....its ok i thing right... ??? http://europe.nokia.com/find-produc...cables/nokia-adapter-cable-for-usb-otg-ca-157

[Q] Root Galaxy S2 At&t without computer

Hi ,
My galaxy S2 is have a problem .... whenever i connect it to a power out / computer the power supply starts fluctuating because of which i cannot use my usb port on my phone to charge so i take out the batter and charge it with an external charger.
Is there any way i can root my phone without connecting it to my computer ?
And one more thing is there anyway i can get my USB port to work ?
I bought this phone when i was in USA but after i shifted back to India this problem started occurring.
The service center people cannot repair or replace it as its the USA version and not the International version. Some parts of International version are not compatible with this US version according to the service center guys. They also said that its IC is short circuited but i think when IC is short circuited the phone does not give display but its working all fine.
Please help me with these 2 things -
1.Rooting my phone without connecting to PC
2.Getting my phones USB port back to work
I'm guessing your USB port has a problem check out this thread
in my case the phones not charging.....
The phone reboots when the charger is connected
The answer to your question is no. Unless I've completely overlooked something.
You will need a good usb port to be able to root the phone. There have been a couple of people who have reported that they successfully replaced their own usb port, and say it is relatively simple to do. It may take a while to get a replacement port, but since the part is small, shipping to India should not be prohibitive. Replacing your own usb port seems to be the only practical fix for your problem.

where can i find a working USB port ?
Google it. Not being rude but damn...
If you have a question about when the next CD by your favorite artist comes out, you google it right? When you need to know where to find which site has the best price on that CD you google it, right?
Use that same logic here. You need a part, google it.
Also, eBay has been known to have items people want to sell that anyone can bid on. Knowing you need it shipped overseas, it would be good to make sure the seller will ship it to your location before buying it.
(Searching these forums will present you with the answer as to which part you need to look for)
