Use the same method for the Alcatel one touch idol mini
this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2784451&d=1402084843
And I believe its the third option down, try it out. No recovery that I know of yet though.

This is my 1st post. I wanted to 2nd this. I just got my tablet for free from T-Mobile, AND they knocked $40 off my bill for giving me this tablet and 5gb of data on the tablet. I rooted it this morning with Kingo as well. It was extremely easy once I actually got the tablet to connect to their program. With the difficulty of connecting included, I would rate the total difficulty to root this tablet using Kingo as a 3/10. If you can actually get the tablet to connect to their program easily, then I would rate it as a 0.25/10.
Not to mention this was my first time rooting anything. Now if an exploit could come out for my XTE Xmax, I would be one happy camper.

My tablet has Lookout enable by default and I can't uninstall it or disable, don't know if this is the cause why I can't root mine, any advice? Any other method around? Any recovery or ROM?

I finally have root! I used the KingRoot app found here in XDA (I will link it later). It took about a day and many attempts. Bye bye bloat!
Update: it seems to be a temporary root as root didn't survive a reboot. KingRooting it again as I type this

[Q] Nabi 2 Root Problems

Hi
I would have posted this in the Nabi 2 root thread, but i don't have enough posts to do so.
I have tried and tried to root both my girls Nabi 2 tablets and i get errors with both of them, i have rooted a few Android devices before and find it easy, but i just cant get these to Nabi 2's done.
Using jmztaylor's method i get this error:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
If i try to install root or gapps via recovery, i get this error:
I cannot see or understand what i am doing wrong, i rooted my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 at Christmas and everything went fine, im using the same computer to do thes Nabi 2's but just errors all the time.
My most recent update on them was December i think, is it possible Nabi may have blocked the method to do this between the root being released and Christmas ?

No i just have the normal Nabi 2, im thinking it was the update i did on Christmas day, its above the version that everyone is rooting their Nabi 2's on.
EDIT
Thanks to your link, i found this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074501
It seemed to root fine, i even have SuperSU on the Nabi, but it wont install gapps, so i tried installing the Market independently, it installs but wont run, lol its frustrating as i normally find these things easy, now i feel a bit stupid for not being able to get it sorted.

not sure if you tried this version of gapps ?
I just go in to Twrp in choose install

[Q] Looking for "permissions" control solution/app

Hi,
Total noob here. Just came from Blackberry 2 days ago and my head is about to explode with all i have learned about rooting, bootloaders etc.
I Got a Galaxy S4-VRUAME7. Rooted it last night.
I am trying to find an app that will allow me to control permissions given to installed apps.
I have tried a few out with not so great results.
LBE reboots my phone (known problem with Jelly-bean)
and a few others i tried that froze (cant remember which)
Is the best option to use a translated chinese version of LBE? like this?
And if so then do i need to install from my desktop following instructions such as these
or is this a better route:
PDroid Privacy Protection which needs a patch. What would I need to know about using this one with my rooted droid?
or....?
Thanks for any suggestions/guidance.
Xposed framework with xprivacy is what u need.. No hassle of patching framework like pdroid but got the same function, probably even more powerful.

thanks! But now my head is really spinning.
Is this my required reading for the night:?
430 pages here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320783
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=biz.bokhorst.xprivacy.pro

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43892381&postcount=1703&nocache=1&z=9436779862769084
I would pay a good amount if i was able to just install one app. but i guess that would mean i would have to find something else to do tonight.
Just read xprivacy thread. Reading first page is enough I think. Usually first page of any thread is full of info on howto do things right. Basically what u need to do is root your phone, install xposed installer then install xprivacy.
Ok, I installed the Xprivacy Installer and now I am at this point:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When I click the "Download/install Xposed" link I am taken to this post.
From here do I just click on the "....latest.apk" link and it installs?
Do I need to install any other patches? What are the chances of getting into a "boot loop" as i did with LBE ?
I would like to help out however possible so I would buy whatever I can to support this developer. In this case would i install the "XPrivacy Pro enabler" and then also get Xprivacy Pro ? or are they the same thing.
Try asking in xprivacy thread. I haven't got enough experience using xprivacy to guide u through it but asking actual people who actually using it on its dedicated thread would be better.

will do. thanks for the help.
I got XPrivacy Pro Installed and working ! Now i can install worthless aps like facebook on my phone and limit the permissions.
I thought when I left Blackberry 3 days ago that i was done monkeying around to get stuff onto my phone! I was wrong.
If I had posting rights (i think i need to do 10 posts before I can hyperlink) I would write up a description of all it took to do the install. Definitely not easy for a noob to do. The installation consisted of multiple parts/components and instructions were not clear to a noob like me and they were not all on one page.
But it was all a good learning experience which will help with my next hackadroid venture.
thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
Glad to hear that u nailed it at last. Enjoy your secured droid. Probably more secured than berries now

Medion X5004 Root Help / Suggestions

Hi!
So we basicly have 2 threads for this phone. This one and that one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/medion-x5004-root-t3276048/post65266591#post65266591
I have posted there already, on what I've already tried. I will continue my quest to rooting.
I shall win :silly:
Cheers.
hey guys..
i need some part of this device..actually i need s5004 but maybe they can use the same parts..
is anyone can help me pls..?
Found solution!
With Kingroot (kingroot.net) it's possible to root X5004.
You just have to download the App, if it works too with Windows... idk
But with the app its working (Medion X5004 -MD99238):angel:
It´s also possible to root with Kingoroot at windows it takes a while but after reboot it was rooted. Works also fine for Medion X5020 (Same Phone but 32GB Flash)
[solved]Medion X5004 Root
Using Kingo Root program
Downloading KingoRoot manufacture and installation and start-up
Connect the device to your computer via microUSB cable (I prefer the original cable)
Wait until Kingo detects vashe mobile device Android
We get the root
press Root (At the bottom in the middle)
We get the root
Wait until the process is completed and the device is reset
Do not forget to check on root
custom rom
So what about custom rom now? I rooted but there is no custom rom
Anyone looking to root Medion devices; kingo root does work. I've done three of them now, none have rooted on the first attempt. The most success I've had was in this order:
Dowload kingo root for windows
Download kingo root app. Use google, not playstore or you'll end up with kingroot, which would also work but annoyingly takes over your phone and not easy to remove.
Download root checker app
Developer options enabled, usb debugging and oem enabled
In settings/security allow for unknown apps
Now with a cable proven to properly connect your phone to your PC through USB, run the kingo root program. The phone can reboot a few times during the process, don't mess with it. It will either hang at 90% and say unsuccessful or give (false) hope of 'root successful'. If it says successful, run the root checker app to make sure, but don't be disappointed if it says the phone isn't rooted.
Now, restart the phone and run the Kingo root app. The fastest I've had one of these phones root was 1x root through windows and 2x root through the app. Apparently these devices take more effort to allocate the scripting correctly.
If you've run the phone through kingo root windows once and twice through the android app and still no success; run it through the windows root again. Eventually it will root with one of the two.
So just repeat: 1x windows, 2x apk, 1x windows, 2x apk until your root checker gives you the green light. Don't trust kingo root itself when they say root successful, always check it with a root checker app.
Good luck. Patience in a virtue.

How do I root a Verizon Galaxy s4?

The videos in the sticky are incorrect or defunct. Many of the required files that these videos link to are broken links and the video near the top telling how to root a verizon s4 is false. The files this guy links to are blocked by Google Drive because they are "infected" according to Google Drive
I am not sure why XDA Developers are stickying videos with links to infected files. But there seems to be no other videos on rooting Galaxy s4 and I do not want to use KingRoot because it is potentially spyware.
I prefer something using TWRP and Odin.
So what is the real way of rooting an s4?
I am preparing to be passed an s4 myself... I've so far found some instructions, but will not try anything until I hold the device, of course... https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/jfltevzw/install
I hope I don't have to jump through too many hoops...
After a small amount of searching, it seems that if the phone ever took an ota upgrade, it will be impossible to bypass the locked boot loader... I've got my fingers crossed... But not too hopeful.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63848199
Use the "old method" if you don't want to use Kingroot. The application only had a 5 day trial, so just keep that in mind.

I was speaking mainly for myself, not being content without an unlocked boot loader to install custom roms... If the device I receive does not have the old boot loader, I will pass it along to another.

You can install custom TouchWiz ROMs with Flashfire. I can almost guarantee it doesn't have MDC on it.

You're right (it's been awhile since I had this device). Just saying the probability of finding one that has not been updated is next to nothing.
Turns out the phone is tmobile... And I don't seem to be acquiring it.
I have a way!
I just rooted my Verizon s4 with kingoroot not kingroot and then switched the kingoroot superuser app out with SuperSu and uninstalled all the kingoroot app stuff. I posted a step by step guide of how I did it on this forum. You can click on my name and click on my posts and it should show up I will try to paste a link here.

Trying to root honor 7

Hi guys.
I am having issues getting root access on my phone.
The story:
I have just bought a brand new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV s-edition. This car have an app to be used with Android or iPhone, but the car only got wifi (with horrible range) without internet capabilities. So I did some investigating, I thought I could have a phone in my car, connected to my cars wifi, and then just remote connect to that phone with an app like teamviewer.
I tested this out with my nephews honor 7 and I was able to make it work. Now, I thought to buy a phone with biggest battery, and fell on a Lenovo P2.
However, I tried everything, but nothing would work (setting "mobil data always active" in developer options did nothing. So I asked my nephew if he wanted to switch phones. He was super-happy to do so...
But now I am totally unable to do what I did earlier: connect to my car with my iPhone through the honor 7. So I am now trying to root the phone to be able to use full advantage of the application : Super download.
So, I have come to the place where I have installed a new bootloader: twrp.
But I am unable to get root access. I have tried several options installed through the bootloader, but nothing seems to work.
Who would think that being able to connect to two networks at the same time in 2017 should me so difficult with a phone?
It's either on the wifi(intranet) or the mobile 3g/4g, but never both... Oh noo

, that's impossible... Yes to send people to the moon in 1969 is fine, but to connect the phone on two networks at same time in 2017 is impossible? Who could know...
But yeah, if I could get root access on my phone u could try the app Super Download and try to connect to both intranet(wifi) and internet(mobile-data) at the same time.
Any help, or will this app not work, event with root?
