Phone activity log - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any app in android which will track the activities going on in phone. Activities like at particular time a particular app was opened and it was closed in some time.. Screenshot was taken at particular time? Is there any app which logs these kind of information.? I heard about logcat extreme app but it is for developers it is complex. I don't requires such complex info app. Just basic things r required. Is there any such app which logs all the activities going on in phone?

I don't know of an app that does that at the moment, but here is one that may be able to assist you with some of what you're asking for.
Notification History

Found another app that does even more:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2769749

Mmm interesting app

Pull down the notification bar a little bit so you can see only notification. On the bottom left of the screen there is a clock like icon. Tap that icon and you will find all the recent activities.

[Q] Can you help me understanding how Android notification system works?

Hi, I just switched completely from iOS to Android after I while I used an iPhone and a Nexus 7 together. Now I replaced the iPhone with a Samsung Galaxy S4.
I'm pretty happy, but there are a couple of things I still completely grasp about how Android notifications work.
My first issue is related to *blocking mode* and Whatsapp. I have the same issue reported in this discussion.
It seems that the app can bypass Android notification system and relies on something else. Is that true? How can that happen?
I have another concern related to the use of vibration when sound is turned on. It seems that the system-wide settings refers only to phone calls, while for other notifications I have to rely on app-specific settings. Am I correct?
Taking for example facebook app, what would happen if I disable vibration and put the phone in silent mode? Will it vibrate?
Finally, I'd like to have a iOS-like notification list on the lock screen. So far I managed to get it for some applications (Messages, Whatsapp), but I'd really like to have some system-wide properties.
Generally speaking, can you please give me a link to Android documentation explaining what aspects of notifications it manages system-wide and what is responsibility of each application?
I'd really like to see as much as possible managed by the operating system, but from what I am experiencing it seems that it is exactly the other way round with a lot of settings left to the applications.
Blocking mode is a Samsung feature AFAIK. Maybe WhatsApp is using the media channel for notifications instead of the notifications channel? Not sure.

Take a look at DashClock with one of the many extensions (e.g. AnyDash), NiLS Notifications Lock Screen, or any similar widget.
There's also Floating Notifications, which can show you (bubbles of) your notifications on your lockscreen.
Thanks for the links and for the hypothesis on Whatsapp notifications.
It seems that I have to choose either to have the pattern lock or to add multiple widgets. Am I right?
Is there any way to have both notifications and pattern lock?
I'm afraid pattern lock is again a Samsung specific feature so I'm a concerned about possible integration issues with other widgets.
What about the other question about system-wide vs per-app settings?

Samsung disabled widgets with the secure lockscreen for some reason. There's an Xposed module to re-enable it, but you need the Xposed framework (and root).
I'm not sure about the vibration question.
My device is still not-rooted and I am not very keen on rooting.
I did some research and I found Popup Notifier (Sorry but I still can't post links to external websites) that seems what I need.
I'm going to try it and I'll let you know how it works.

Unfortunately it Popup Notifier is not what I was looking for. I'd like more to have an iOS-like list of notifications rather than popups.
It also felt a bit too hackish that I had to disable text to speech service and enable the app's accessibility service.
I have the feeling that they're misusing accessibility features as a workaround to access notification information.
I see that there are custom lockers. Is it possible to install them without rooting the device? If I install one of them would I be able to setup notifications as I like, add the pattern widget and leave the rest of the system as it is?

All applications need Accessibility to get the notifications' content, prior to Android 4.3, AFAIK. Or root.

You can install custom lockscreens without root, but you'll also need Accessibility.

Did 4.3 introduce new APIs to let applications access notifications?
Is there any new app that already uses them? I'd like to try them on my Nexus 7 and then use one also on my S4 once Samsung releases the updated version of the system.

Applications can now use notification listeners, which allow them to detect new notifications (and when they're cleared) from an app. I think Floating Notifications uses it if you're on 4.3, but it's not exactly what you want.
Yes,unfortunately it's not what I'm looking for. I'll keep checking. I hope new app relying on the new features will be published soon

I came across a few DashClock extensions which do that, although for specific apps. You might want to try a few and see if this is what you want.
Hangouts DashClock Extension

You'll need DashClock for these, of course.
Other than that, there's DynamicNotifications you might be interested in. Not quite what you're looking for, but it might do the trick for now.
DynamicNotifications seems very cool. I'll give it a try

Just in case you don't read the portal, this DashClock extension does what you want by using the notification listener features, instead of Accessibility services.
Thanks for sharing the link! I'll give it a try. It is very promising

Feature Request: Favorites in a Folder

Is there any way we can get Favorites to open as a folder instead of opening the app drawe? Maybe an option? Folders open a lot faster than the app drawer.
I like the simplistic themes and really only need the favorites in addition to phone, email, and text. I also like using the double tap gesture to open favorites, but the app drawer is much slower at opening than a folder. If I add a folder to the home screen, I have to re-create it every time I change themes, and I can't use the double-tap gesture.
Thanks for listening!

I do like it! The most recent category is pretty much a pre-built favorites list. I like the new app drawer a lot, too! Thank you
Now we just need a way to open that category via a gesture (double tap for me)
yeah I like it well done but please please please can we have continuous scrolling and resize icon ,these are very badly needed and will only improve the feel of themer,I got the save as option but just for christmas give us these two options.:victory: or at least a time scale of when we can expect
There is already Icon Resizing for the app drawer.

I would have thought sorting features out and issues would have priority ,in my opinion no point trying to get best looking themes if everything in the themer app isn't fully working.Just my opinion as mentioned

Agreed, but the trouble is that it's a lot easier said than done. A somewhat simple fix to a bug or a performance improvement could take weeks to solve, which isn't easy with limited resources. The devs are doing the best they can to juggle adding new themes, improving the performance, as well as fix the bugs and crashes.
You guys rock!

Discussion for BoredSigns — Custom SignBoard Widgets

Ever wish that LG had given the V10/V20 more widgets in the second screen? Well, wish no more! BoredSigns adds many more widgets to your SignBoard (get it? SignBoard --> BoredSigns?), ones you may need and ones you may not.
The best part about BoredSigns? It doesn't need root! That's right; you can get some brand new widgets on your completely Stock V10 or V20. In the future, ADB may be necessary for certain widgets, but right now, you don't need your computer at all.
Current widgets:
— Information
— Weather
— Image
— Navigation Bar
This app is open source! If you aren't willing to pay $0.99 to buy it, feel free to build it for yourself. I only ask that it not be re-distributed without substantial modifications (i.e. more than changing the theme and name).

I bought it in the play store (I want to support any development for the 2nd screen).
I have to thank you just for the simple fact that at first, I didn't know how to run it... so I went into the 2nd screen options. I had no idea that I had other widgets that I could run. I never thought to tap the "..." on "Show when main screen on" so I have been stuck with the basic options this whole time. Worth my $1.05 right there.
So, after using it for a few minutes, I noticed the persistent notification for BoredSigns, so I long-pressed it and turned off all notifications. Will this negatively affect the operation of the app? I did notice that when I swiped my notification shade down, or when switching between widgets, the 2nd screen options would come on, so I restarted the phone. It doesn't seem to be doing that anymore, but I did have to toggle weather on and off a few times to get a real location and not 100*F in Philadelphia.
Bonus question... where can I find out more about the "yet unreleased AOSP implementation of the 2nd screen?"
Found the perfect image for the second screen a mod one of the best football team in the world...perfect fit and color !
Happy user here....thank you again for this :highfive:
So someone suggested I do a navigation bar widget. After lots of Java reflection (the actual tool, not thinking about my life with Java), I went with a simple Accessibility Service.
Because of that, these functions will be available:
- Back
- Home
- Recents
- Split Screen
- Power
- QS Pulldown
- Notification Pulldown
If there are any other (simple) buttons you might want, suggest them. I'll add them in if I can.
Here's what it looks like right now:

[APP] Second Screen Status Bar

NOTE: ALPHA PHASE HAS FINISHED.
If anyone wants to continue using this app which is going to be pro only for the moment, contact me (tg group and channel)
THIS PROJECT IS BEING UPDATED AND SUPPORTED AND I DON'T PLAN TO ABANDON IT.
If you ever wanted to have a working status bar in the second screen in a stock ROM, this is the thread you were looking for.
I have coded a widget for the second screen that replaces what the stock status bar does (and even more perhaps).
It has been months of coding.
As always, you have to install the app and open second screen settings and enable the widget.
If you want to hide the status bar, there are several ways. I do it using an xposed app to change status bar height. If you don't want to use xposed, you will have to go the long way of modding system. I may do it some day when I finish coding but there is a lot of stuff in my to-do list.
Don't forget to use the settings option to set some of the available features in this release.
If you find any bugs, I will need a log (logcat) with both log settings enabled. I will try to fix any bugs.
Check the attached screenshots!

I have not been trying much how to hide the status bar as I need time to code the app but afaik that can't be done because it will mess full screen apps (and maybe the notifications pull down because it's not drawn below the status bar but over it). Let me know if I'm wrong or if you know how to make it work correctly. Thanks
If you use any app that changes its notification icon, like a battery meter app, speedmeter app, weather app, etc, you will see the icon does not get updated. This is because I tried to optimize everything as much as possible so the app is coded to get the icon just once. The PRO version, if it ever gets to be released (depending on the interest of the users), will have some code to handle those apps which very little battery drain (which actually depends on how buggy or optimized is the notification posting from the app).
In the tg channel there is a video showing it.
@Daved+ tested works fine, thanks for this. I'm glad that it doesn't go away suddenly like previous solutions. I'm interested in buying pro version, jus need to figure out a way to disable the status bar without going the Xposed way. Tried Nova launcher hide option, it takes away the second screen as well, so no luck yet.
Edit: quote op correctly
Working great on my unlocked US996.
Would love to have single line height rather than stacked. Too cluttered with two lines of icons for my taste.
Thanks!

Great to hear it works in different models. I can do other layouts, I have several ideas, this one was to use the second screen as much as possible to make the screen look bigger so no empty spaces in the corners. If you want, let me know your ideas, but I also need support to continue development.

Think there's a way to replace the default screen Date & Time Screen-Off Widget with yours when the main screen is off?
In the past, I have resorted to using battery percentage apps to get realtime charge levels during screen-off. I'd love to streamline that, using your app; which clearly has the potential to replace the default widgets.
