Unfortunately TouchWiz Home Has Stopped
Ok... I will start, First thing was to get rid of that stupid swipe up to the Magazine app under the home page of my Sprint Note 3. After I deleted the Magazine apk and odex files, when the home button was hit twice I got an error message "Unfortunately TouchWiz Home Has Stopped Working". My solution was to install NOVA Launcher. After it was setup, I deleted TouchWiz Home .apk and Easy Launcher .apk (TouchWiz Easy Home). The error message has stopped, the home screen does not swipe up anymore (great!!!).

About time !!
Wonderful work mate i know i had serach for two days to zero in on a reliable tested list
Back then ( about a week back ) I had followed Droidstyles list of bloatware apps and uninstalled most barring samsung HUB and its service and that easy mode apk .
all the rest i murdered mercilessly ;P Of course he is on verizon N3 and ours is sprint , but apart from native vzn apps all the rest are similar and safe to freeze or remove , all the sprint crap i had already removed .
here is his post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52337960&postcount=1089
I regard DS since the time i was using my VERIZON FASCINATE
enjoying the look and feel , on to installed the 5x5 lightening fast TW launcher and just loving my monster
thanks again

One more thing I wish to add
Kindly don't remove
"MyScript ResourceManager
Otherwise you ll face many force closes while using s pen functions .
See ya

Unfortunately Sprint ID Has Stopped
I have another one, I deleted the MDMApp.apk. It showed 0.00B on the application manger, thought it was empty. After I deleted it, got an error message " Unfortunately Sprint ID Has Stopped" when I downloaded an app in the play store, ended up restoring my latest backup, and replacing the MDMApp.apk. It may be empty, but it has something to do with e-mail identity and your device identity when using Google Play Store. Here is a site that explains this. http://www.itnews.com.au/BlogEntry/350953,what-is-mdm.aspx Restoring the app did NOT stop the error message !!! Somehow the settings where changed in the Google play store. When I installed Nova launcher and deleted the TouchWis launcher you have to uncheck the "Add icon to Home screen" option, or the play store tries to add an icon the to home page of a now deleted TW launcher and you get the "Unfortunately Sprint ID has Stopped" error message. There is more one fix, you can delete the ID.apk, this stops the error message to, ID.apk installs the sprint default apps, Scout, Messaging +,CBS News, Lockout Security,1Weather, etc. Which showed up the time first booted up your new device. You MUST also, delete Sprint_Installer.apk, or it reinstalls everything on a new boot up. If you delete the default apps you can always find them in the Google Play Store.

Unfortunately Email Has Stopped
First, after receiving an email and clearing it out of notifications, I get the error message "Unfortunately Email Has Stopped". This is caused by either stopping the MyMagazine.apk (doesn't stay stopped) or deleting it (my choice). So, I downloaded a deodexed NC5 copy, pulled Gmail2.apk, and SecEmail_J.apk files. Decompiled them with an APK Tool, and tossed them in a Text Editor. Did several searches could not find the word Magazine in any file in the APK's. SOLUTION : downloaded CloudMagic email app, set up my emails, then deleted SecEmail_J.apk and odex files. Left the Gmail2.apk, and SecExchange.apk files in place, and everything works great with no error messages!!!
Edit : If you have updated from Gmail.apk to Gmail2.apk, Gmail2 allows for Google, and non-Google email accounts to run on it. So all you have to do is delete SecEmail_J.apk and .odex files. Then run all your emails on the Gmail2.apk app and the " Unfortunately Email has stopped " error will be gone !!!

Build.prop ( knox )
As you can see from the image, I'm going to assume the line item builds or tells device to build a KNOX container ? This was still there after I did a KNOX search with Root Explorer. I used the script editor in Root Explorer to remove the line circled in red. So far there have been to problems or error messages. Hopefully just another part KNOX spyware gone !!!

KNOX REMOVAL ( Build.prop )
As many of us know, you can disable KNOX but so far, it is impossible to remove it. I found that after ROOTING my device, once you open SuperSU it asks if you want to disable KNOX ( MANY THANKS TO CHAINFIRE ). I clicked yes, Then installed Root Explorer, and did a search for KNOX. It came up with a dozen or so files, I did a mulit-delete to get rid of them. With that done you end up with two files left that when deleted come back (reinstall) upon rebooting device. First one is SYSTEM/DATA/KNOXVPN below are screenshots.
Now to permanently delete this file, go into Root Explorer script editor and remove the files that are outlined in RED in Build.prop screenshot below. Then delete the files in the screen shots above, and reboot device. As you can see in the next screenshot below it is gone, and will not reinstall on boot up !!!
As for the second one it is CILPBOARD/DATA/KNOX it is still a work in progress, but I have not given up yet !!!

CSC ( Customer Sales Code )
In the process of DEBLOATING my Samsung Note 3 after multiple recovery backups, error messages, and freezes. I needed a fresh start, went to Samsung Firmware and downloaded the latest version of 4.4.2 NC5. Once it was flashed in the device, I noticed that upon boot up the Yellow Sprint Logo that follows the Samsung logo was missing. At first I thought it was an incomplete download. ( This could be a problem ) Turns out, there are four CSC ( customer sales codes ) versions of Sprint 4.4.2 NC5 on my device.
1. SPR ( Sprint USA ) adds yellow Sprint logo, very common
2. VMU ( Sprint USA ) adds yellow Sprint logo, used rarely
3. BST ( Boost Mobile Australia )
4. XAS ( Sprint USA ) no Sprint logo, used when carrier is unknown
( If you go to system/media this is why there are so many versions boot_samsung.qmg files )
The files listed above can be found in system/csc. To find out which version you are running go to system/csc/sales_code.dat, and open with a text editor. The version of 4.4.2 NC5 I downloaded from Samsung Firmware was XAS that comes with no yellow Sprint logo. ( Problem solved )

Quite an observation mate .
Would be useful for me as I am Stull on nab and I wish to update myself to nc5 before I flash the vision X 3.0 rom
Thanks again bro

Now click on Preconfig, then choose the CSC you want, then click install. You will end up with a out of the box, new copy of NC5. Check out screenshots !!!
BECAREFUL ONCE YOU CLICK INSTALL, YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA ON THE PHONE, AND INTERNAL SDCARD BACKUP ALL DATA FIRST TO YOUR PC.

Prl, mdn, min, meid, spc ???
What does all this mean?
What is the PRL?
The PRL (Preferred Roaming List) is essentially a list of towers for the device to use to prioritize communication. A "Sprint" PRL is required for the device to use Sprint's towers to communicate. So, you should update your PRL when you move, or are planning to be in an area for an extended period of time.
What is the MDN?
The MDN (Mobile Directory Number) is the phone number with area code associated to your account. It is required to program your device. (Example 5558675309)
What is the MIN aka MSID?
The MIN(Mobile Identification Number) is a unique number associated to your account, using the same area code of your locale. It is required to program your device. (Example 5551234567)
A mobile station ID (MSID) is a number that is associated with the home service provider and the wireless phone number. This is reprogrammed when the user changes home service providers. It can also be called the mobile identification number (MIN) and is not to be confused with the mobile device number (MDN) in the CDMA world, which is the device's telephone number.
What is the MEID/IMEI/ESN?
The MEID ( Mobile Equipment Identifier ) is what your carrier uses to identify your device. MIED is a form of ESN ( Electronic Serial Number ). IMEI stands for ( International Mobile Equipment Identity ). IMEI is another form of ESN. In Sprint's case, you need the MEID DEC to associate your device with your account. Some devices (Samsung Note 3) have it listed on the sticker under the battery, while others will have MEID HEX listed in the OS instead, and will need to be converted to DEC. Samsung Note 3 lists both on the sticker under the battery.
(DEC Example 268435456123456789) (HEX Example A000000A1B2C3D)
What is the SPC? aka MSL?
The SPC is a 6-digit code used to access the programming features of your device. All Verizon devices use 000000 as the SPC code, which makes flashing very easy usually. Sprint devices use a unique code for each device and they can be quite a task to obtain.

MDN and MIN with no MSL on Note 3
Ok, to get MDN and MIN go to DATA/USER/0/com.samsung.syncservice/shared_prefs/PHONE_DATA.xml they will be listed there.

MSL on Note 3
This app is only one that worked to get MSL/SPC here is the link https://mega.co.nz/#!cdgkCbZQ!FMc13SUNTcM4elX-IwHQhKNGjSnT_bjNXWNQw7heqU8 download, and install click on MSL/SPC.

No, not that I have found. If you tell what you removed that you want back maybe I can get it for you ? Are you rooted ? Otherwise here are some options.
First if you are not rooted, do a factory reset. Yes you lose all your data, so connect your device to PC via usb cable and copy and paste all of your music and pics to folders on your desktop. Then reinstall after the factory reset. Your contacts will come back after you sign in to your gmail account.
If you have a rooted device, then you should have made backup right after you rooted the device. So you will have to do a backup restore. I keep two backups, one is copy of the full rooted stock NC5. The other is a backup of NC5 with a font mod, volume mod, and completely debloated, no KNOX set up for daily use. If I flash a new rom and it goes bad I can always restore back to normal.

[Q] "ussd code running"

I have a problem on my Galaxy S3, running android 4.1.1 on Vodafone network in the UK. It is not rooted.
I want to make sure the phone is unlocked before buying a sim card for use in France
Using the stock dialer, "*#7465625#" gives me "ussd code running" followed by "Unknown command".
Looking around elsewhere, others have blamed it on Mobile Tracker, which as far as I can see, I don't have. The only solution I have seen is a factory reset, which is a scary prospect for me, not having any idea what that entails. And then reinstalling apps one by one until the culprit is found. I have also seen comments about ussd security issues. I am slowly heading out of my depth here (I know my way round windows quite well, but phones are unknown territory for me,).
I am hoping some clever souls on this forum might be able to help. Is this a known, and solved, problem? Or is a factory reset my best bet?
If I have to reset, I know where the reset is in the menu system - on the same page as a checked box saying backup. So...does does the back up happen automatically or when I press reset or have I got it completely wrong? If not, which files do I need to save away from the phone? What happens to things like contacts I can remove the external SD card, so that won't be an issue. How do I reinstall the apps, particularly the ones I have already paid for?
I have spent most of the afternoon tried to get a handle on this and my head is spinning now.
Any help at all, would be very warmly received.
Polly
1st solution : root your phone, very easy procedure then you can flash the same stock ROM from sammobile.com to become unrooted again without wiping/resetting your phone.
2nd solution: download APPSAVER from market for free, then you can save all the applications you have downloaded but not the DATA (for example you can save the game itself but not the progress you have achieved)
as for the contacts, go to the contacts folder - menu import/export - export to usb storage and voila all your contacts will be written in a single file that you can import after you reset your phone
as for SMS, you can download "SMS Backup & Restore" from market for free to backup then restore your SMSs
after you perform the above, go to Settings - Back up and reset - Factory data reset and your phone will be back as you received it.
On the other hand if the phone is locked you can always unlock it using Voodoo S3 on the Play Store, it can sim-unlock your device if you're rooted of course.
Great reply, thank you!
Rooting...a bit loth to do that while still under guarantee and at my level of experience. One day I will get hold of an old phone and try it with that first.
Appsaver - what a brilliant app, thank you again. If it is one particular app that is the problem (and that is the sense that I get from elsewhere), then I can use this to back up my apps, uninstall them all, check for the ussd error. If it has disappeared, then reinstall apps one at a time until the error reappears. If it hasn't disappeared, then I can go the reset route, after backing up contacts and SMS.
Thank you so much for your help.

csc verify will tell you why it fails. Likely browser bookmarks changed, contacts in phone book, calander etc... To pass you almost need to have just done factory reset, or ran Preconfig. Also quick update to protect users till I have files from more models.
Till then only s3 and note 3 can use the hotspot enable.

Works on sprint note 3 stock firmwares and tested on s3 as well. (Likely good for any sprint stock touchwiz) If you have a samsung device with "SPRINT SPARK" Let me know and I can likely add compatibility just need a file or 2 from you. Also need files from s4 and s5.

/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
Thanks in advance!
Please note that I would like it from a real s5. s4, note 2, galaxy mega, any sprint touchwiz really(note3 and s3 I have already as previously stated) If you have some other type sprint phone and want native hotspot enabled please pm me, that is if you don't mind testing something +have root.
Very useful tool, thanks a lot @idone.
for some reason, using this tool does not let me edit APNs. I can see what APN I am currently using, but it doesn't let me edit. If I use the dialer to ##data#, I can edit the APN in there. Just thought I would let you know. Great tool. Obviously, you can goto the HiddenMenu and use it to ##data# for you and go from there, but you need MSL.

I have just noticed the same problem after I flashed a stock tar and did ##rtn# to fix some weird usb tethering problem that seems to happen after forcing lte. I had the usb tethering problem before and never solved what fixed it for me. Flashing with odin didnt fix, so some bit in nv or something gets flipped with the force lte that messes up usb tethering. ##rtn# did fix it... but without taking the time to compare before and after to locate the problem it is not an optimum fix. (I dont know anykne else who has had this issue though)
But on to what I was saying, I didnt have this problem with apn wanting msl before and can't remember what I did to fix it. If you go into DM Manager and click apn there (without having gone in to DATA>Edit>enter msl>apns since reboot) It will give same view of selected apn but not editable.
Either way I will find the fix(before it was always editable for me without having to go ingo data and enter msl) or add my own apn editor(or possibly figure arguments apn edit takes...less likely but I might take a look)... as stock defauld behavior seems to open apns in viewing only selected(or maybe just prefered apn) untill msl has been entered then apns open editable from samsung dm manager and my app.
tl;dr
I'll sort that out no worries.
And some new features comming as well.
Would this app fix GPS that can't lock location?

for some reason, using this tool does not let me edit APNs.

Had a min to check and found the fix to bypass msl requirement for apn edit.(Clicking enable hotspot changes them for you)
But the fix is changing your sales_code.dat in /system/csc/ I just used QCM. You could put anything.
After reboot click APNs button on the app and they will open editable.
Changing /efs/imei/mps_code.dat from SPR to something else will add dial up networking option on second page of DATA right under LTE APN Settings.
To guy with gps lock issues sorry man I almost never use GPS and only have read problems from people on custom roms. Best of luck to you.
Doesn't work for me, Sprint note 3 stock rooted.
After clicking any button just sets there in till,
not responding Wait or Close, pops up.
What's the "Secret_Code??" tried MSL, just freezes.

You must not have root?(or "debloated" the required apps?) or have some superuser manager app blocking execution of su.
If you want hotspot and dont have root but have your msl I have posted a thread in the general section on how to enable it with only your msl.
For secret code there are too many to list. All the dialer codes plus many others that are text not numbers, app needs root to do it though.
YOUR right my SU was hosed. Every thing working now.
Thanks.

[Q] Reinstall stock Google Calendar so I can sync again!

I had used the app System App Remover to remove some of the crapware that Sprint and Samsung bog down your phone with. In particular I use Google Calendar for my main calendar and I use it through Thunderbird too as well as Google's web app for calendar. I love that I can easily create events and wham they are right there on my phone too.
Now I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung puts it's own calendar app there and when you go into that calendar it wants you to set up a Samsung account, etc. I don't want a Samsung account and I'm quite happy staying with Google Calendar. So I tried to remove the Samsung portions of Calendar but leave the Google Calendar, etc. It is hard to tell which is which because they both simply use the name "Calendar". In any event I screwed up my Google Calendar on my Note 3.
Now this System app remover says it's safe or relatively safe and that it backs up any system app you remove in a "recycle bin" so you can reinstall it. So I go to the recycle bin and attempt to reinstall the Google calendar app I removed and it failed! I've talked to the developer and he's just perplexed and I'm out of a calendar on my phone!!!
I've tried reinstalling the Google Calendar app from the play store and while that succeeds I see no calendars being displayed. Here's some of the odd behavior I see:
When it starts it presents a month view with no events
Selecting Calendars to Display shows nothing
Selecting Calendars to Sync shows a blank page with Cancel and OK buttons but it says Loading forever!
Even though I have already signed into a Google account, if I try to add a Google account and supply my username and password it says that it had trouble contacting the Google Servers and to try again later. Of course later it does the same thing
If I go into my Settings and look at my Google account and what syncs I see no entry for Sync Calendar
If I try to make a new event I get a similar black screen saying Loading..., Cancel and Done buttons but it goes nowhere
It seems like the sync portion of Google Calendar/Account is broken or something is not signed properly. I've tried to find the appropriate CalendarSync.apk file and found a few, installed a few but the behavior described above remains the same.
HELP!
Is there a way to fix this without having to flash a rom? I used to play with installing rom's but now a days I try to just keep it stock - well I get additional apps but I try not to flash rom's and get unsupported. I have used towelroot to gain access to root. I use it because I also use Tasker and Secure Settings to try to automate some things and for some odd reason you cannot toggle GPS on and off until you get Secure Setting and root your phone! Stupid. And because I'm rooted System Update doesn't want to update me. I'm not sure if there's an OTA update for Sprint Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 but I would have thought that if there was say 4.4.3 available that update would fix my problem.
If I can't fix that problem could I flash a stock Sprint rom (where?) and then have all my apps come back from backup/restore (I recently did a factory reset and even this didn't fix it! And while many apps came back courtesy of Google, a number didn't and what is worse is that I lost a number of settings and configurations. I wouldn't want to have to do that again.
I'm almost at the point of saying screw it and getting back into custom ROMs. Sprint rarely updates us, Google doesn't update us so what's the point of staying stock kernel? Sprint tech droid are incompetent.
In any event if somebody can help that'd be cool (why such apps as Calendar and the like need to be backed into the ROM instead of just downloadable and installable like every other app is beyond me!)

Ok, chances are the Bloatware removal script removed more than just the GoogleCalendarSnycAdapter.apk. It probably removed most or all your Google Apps. First I would try and reinstall the calendar app from the recycle bin again, this time copy and paste it with some type of root manager app like Root Explorer. Make sure you put it in system/app and not system/priv-app. Check the permissions they should be rw-r--r-- after your have pasted the app. Then with the root manger app go to Delvik-Cache and delete it, now power down the device completely and reboot. It will take a minute as it rebuilds the Delvik-Cache.
Now in the event that the removal script took all the Google apps, here is a link for stock KK 4.4.2 NC5 .tar http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712205 ( Thanks micmars ) just follow the steps listed on his thread. Note that all other Google apps (at least the apps I use) work fine. Hangouts, Chrome, Chromeccast, GMail, Music, etc.
OK, I see two GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk files - one in /sdcard/Download that is 490.33 KB and one that is already in /system/app that is -rw-r--r-- but 618.06 KB. More is better right? I use ES File Explorer as a file manager and I am root. I could not find anything on my system with *delvik* in the name. Might it be something with *art* instead? Isn't Kit Katt on art now and not delvik? Wait I found it under /data. When you say "delete it" what is "it"? I ask because I see things like:
[email protected]@[email protected]
[email protected]@[email protected]
[email protected]@[email protected]
[email protected]@GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter(1)[email protected]
[email protected]@[email protected]
I think #4 was created when I accidentally downloaded GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk twice into /system/app. I've copied these 5 files to save them then removed #3 and #4, powered down and back up. Nothing different.
Next I copied all of /data/delvik to the sdcard and removed all of the files under /data/delvik, powered down and back up.This took considerably longer as the cache was rebuilt at startup. In fact it said Android is upgrading... After that it started apps and I was back up. But the calendar still exhibits the exact same behavior.
I think what needs to be reinstalled is probably the Calendar Storage because it seems to me whenever I try to add an event or a calendar it fails.
As for your links, why am I flashing my entire phone with a new rom and what will be happening to all of the apps and settings I currently have installed? I'm sorry but I really only want my Calendar app to come back. Everything else works. Last time when I did a factory reset in attempting to fix this many apps came back, but many didn't and lots of them had missing settings, etc. I really, really don't want to go through that again!
BTW why didn't I get an email when you responded...

First sorry for the slow response, was out of town helping my daughter move. Now the correct size for the GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk is 618.06KB. Here are copies of the files off my device which is a note 3 stock rooted 4.4.2 NC5.
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk https://mega.co.nz/#!tNxxxI5T!5xftzTM9ajyF45MeMR-qDS61ftYIhUIT3p2-hsBdN0w
SecCalendarProvider.apk https://mega.co.nz/#!0FIE0JgI!ENASoyihE3CLhECDDvBbRec1ROU5FxkAERQID7q7FPU
SecCalendarProvider.odex https://mega.co.nz/#!8MICFZSY!z23JLhKGgI9K5-1Lpe_GYszMlXmJyVaKsfaKd2vyCm8
Download to PC desktop, copy and paste to your sd card, then with your ES File manger copy the original files to a ext sd card or PC desktop. Now copy and paste the downloaded files, the adapter goes in system/app and the provider goes in system/priv-app. Once installed, check permissions rw-r--r-- then go to data/delvik-cache and delete the delvik-cache file, then go to cache/recovery and delete the last install and last log files. Then completely power down the device and reboot, delvik-cache will rebuild, then the new apks to will install.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Looks like I'm back up! No problem on the wait, I just wanted to keep the issue alive here.
Detailing what I did for the benefit of the next person I first downloaded your files and used PushBullet to push them to my phone. If you haven't heard of PushBullet then you should check it out! It's a nice way of pushing files, links, directions between your cell phone and your browser. I then:
. Put these files into /sdcard/Downloads/Calendar
. Moved /system/app/GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk -> /sdcard/Downloads/save
. Moved /system/priv-app/SecCalendarProvider.apk -> /sccard/Downloads/save
. I could not find a SecCalendarProvider.odex file under /system/priv-app! Perhaps that was the root of my problem.
. I copied /sdcard/Downloads/Calendar/GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk -> /system/app
. I copied /sdcard/Downloads/Calendar/SecCalendarProvider.apk -> /system/priv-app
. I copied /sdcard/Downloads/Calendar/SecCalendarProvider.odex -> /system/priv-app
. I looked at the perm bits of these files and when they were in /sdcard/Download/Calendar I could only see one of the 3 bit setting. It was set to 6 or rw-. However once I copied them to /system/app I could see the full set of perms and I changed them to 644.
. As for /data/delvik-cache, I didn't know exactly which file to delete but played it save and only deleted [email protected]@[email protected]. I figured if that was not the right think I could do it again but move all of the delvik-cache off of the phone like I did before. Turns out I didn't need to.
. I didn't bother (actually didn't see) the part about deleting the log files in the cache/recovery. Apparently I didn't need to.
Powered down the phone and then back up. Briefly saw a thing about updating and then I boot in. Started the Calendar and it didn't look good - it looked like it did before. But I went to the "Calendars to Display" and to my amazement it displayed many of my calendars! I went back and events were filling in as the background sync was taking place. I'M BACK!!!!
Thanks.

Hi, all. I followed all the instructions in this thread twice because I'm having the same issue and no luck. The "Calendars to Sync" is still spinning endless on the "Loading..." screen. I'm on stock Note 3 and have root. I even deleted all the files from /data/dalvik-cache. Any other suggestions? My issue is just the calendar sync as well. All the apk and other files mentioned here have been placed from the downloads that were provided. I'm totally dependent on my multiple calendars and dead in the water here.

I also was unable to follow this procedure with any success. I'm trying to get Google Calendar working again on my Sprint Galaxy S4 running 5.0.1 rooted stock. When I put seccalendarprovider in the app folder I get a crashy Calendar Storage (unusable). When I put it in a subfolder of priv-app it just says that Calendar Storage is disabled. When I just dump it straight into priv-app it's also crashy and unusable.

How I got TW Lollipop running on my Ringplus Note 3

My Note 3 is activated on the Sprint MVNO Ringplus, so I probably went through more trouble than most to get the leaked Lollipop build up and running. I figured I'd show what I did in case anyone else wanted to do the same as well. I believe SMS is currently not working. This isn't an issue for me because I use Google Voice as my primary number, so my texts go through data instead of traditional SMS.
It would probably be best to do a Profile and PRL update before you begin, as you won't have the option of doing them on the new ROM.
First I made a complete backup followed by a full wipe, and then I flashed g00h's tweaked odex lollipop ROM v.1.1 here.
Next I flashed the bluetooth/wifi fix found in this thread here. Make sure you download version 2 (the file that's 1.83MB).
Next I had to get mobile data working, so I used the APN backup & restore app from the Play store. I used the APN settings listed by jackal830 here. I copied the text, pasted it into an xml file, and placed that file in the APN backup & restore app's folder so that it could restore the Ringplus APN settings. Using the app, I first deleted the current APN settings, and I then restored from the newly created xml file.
The next problem was that my all of my wifi passwords would be forgotten everytime the phone would reboot. I did a quick search and found this post here. Following dajumper's suggestion, I edited the build.prop using Root Explorer, and changed the line from "ro.securestorage.support=true", to "ro.securestorage.support=false". This made my wifi passwords stick on reboot.
After doing all of that, everything is up and running great. I'm really enjoying Samsung's implementation of Lollipop. In order to get this working on Sprint instead of Ringplus, I'd imagine you'd only have to locate a Sprint APN file generated from the APN backup & restore app, and use that instead.
If anyone else has the same setup as me, and wants to give this try, enjoy!

It does not, but like I said, I use Google Voice as my primary number, so it's not an issue for me. I can still send text messages like normal through Google Voice because the messages travel over mobile data instead of SMS.
Aight guess I'll just wait a little more for that to get fixed i need that proper texting but thanks for the info
Which APN backup and restore app are you using? The one I used states it does not restore for anything over 4.0+. That because the OS does not allow for 3rd party apps to change APN.
Never mind figured it out. Will attempt on sprint. But looks like MMS will still be a problem.

I'm using the latest one from the play store. Hit menu, select disable ICS check, close the app and then reopen it. I don't believe it allows you to backup your APN settings on anything higher than 4.0, but it does allow you to restore them. That's why I manually placed my xml file in the folder where the app restores from.

Thanks...Next time I will read the entire writeup . It will allow you to backup and restore. Just had to move the APK to the /system/priv-app and modify the permissions.
How exactly do you edit the secure storage support to true?

Contacts lost after recovery with Android SDK!

yesterday I had to bring my samsung s6 edge, running on android 5.1.1 (non-rooted), to a samsung service point because the display was broken. I was wondering that they immediately repaired it and whyever made a factory reset. anyway, right before I made a backup with android sdk. afterwards I tried to flash the recovery and it seemed to be working. almost all files, apps and settings were back on the phone but the contacts. even the numbers in the dialling lists, only without names. the funny part is, that some of the names were displayed for e few seconds when I scrolled down the list. but then they immediately changed to numbers without names
I already extracted the backup file, but there is no file with this describtion: /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db
there is also no other backup of the contacts, such as vCard export, google sync, outlook sync, etc.
Is there any way to get my contacts back??
thank you!
