Hi, I would like to know the cheap and best option for an android tablet in India that could be used in a Retail environment, also i would like to know how can i control my tablet from installing/using any other applications other than the application, than which we suggest the stores to use?
Basically i need to check with you experts, on how we could restrict the users from misusing the tab other than the purpose which is meant to serve.
Case is that : I would need to restrict the tab to use only a single app on the tablet- and should restrict the users from meddling with the tab

I need to deploy Android devices(specifically Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1) to about 4,500 retail stores. We have an MDM, and most of the details(as far as security goes) are pretty much set. What we haven't figured out yet is how to initially image/configure these devices up right out of the box. We currently have about 500 iPads deployed(with MDM), and the way we were able to set those up out of the box was by using Apple Configurator to create an "image"(backup), and then restoring it to the other iPads. Using Apple Configurator, we were also able to pre-load apps onto the device.
Is there a similar method to imaging Android devices? That does not include having to root or install a 3rd part recovery?
Ok so my company is going to be using tablets with android and we need to put like an app that controls the android like registering new clients that uses our tablets and every new client needs to register and login to use the tablet.
Is This possible ? its a normal tablet with a non modified version of the 4.4 android

Not sure about from start up, but you can use the screen pinning function in Lollipop or if it's running an older version of Android then you would need to create a kiosk type app.

There are 3 well known 'kiosk' apps available. They are all capable of doing what you want to a greater or lesser degree. (Kioware, Mobilock and Surelock ....others are available). The problem for you is the cost, if you intend to scale up your devices. If you are putting your app on a $20 Chinese tablet, then these apps listed above all want another $15 or so to install, which doubles your costs!
I'm looking at a similar problem, and I think the true answer is a specialist ROM with most of the opsys actually stripped out. Only problem with that is...... that it is WAY beyond my talents and abilities! I would be enormously interested in how you get on (without needing to know your application specifics). Keep in touch?

we need to do the following:
We have a fire department with medical emergency staff. Each Car (Fire, Rescue etc) needs a new phone. We used to have simple Caterpillar "ruggedized" phones but they dont fit our needs anymore for various reasons.
We now have some sample devices of the Samsung Xcover 4.
What we need to do is to restrict the phones for everyday use, which is not supported by Samsung by default.
We can NOT root the phones or install any custom ROMs for obviuos security reasons.
So we would need a software which allows to control the phone: We would like a state where nothing can be changed. The only thing which must work would be making phone calls (dialing and phonebook). We do not want any apps installed, we do not want wifi or mobile data or people changing ringtones, wallpapers etc (and they'll do)...
Is there a software for android which can provide such a limited profile?
