I went to my local T-Mobile store to buy a spare phone for work.
The Manger was there and saw my Ultra.
He told me he recently met with Sony representatives and said they're getting the second generation ultra.
He said it has the same omnibalance design but features a 6.2 inch display.
I thought he might have been talking about the t2 ultra but said it wasn't that one.
He said it's coming in a couple months.
What do you guys think? Maybe you should ask your local T-Mobile stores.
Doomlord said there wasn't going to be a new one. Not sure how that manager met with anyone important at Sony but might of well just wait and see what Sony does instead of speculating and jumping the gun.

Just reporting, I'm guessing they meet with Sony representatives to see how sales are going and to inform them of product changes just like all stores do with other brand representatives.
I'll ask around other stores in my area and see if anything coincides.

The only thing i hope they can improve upon, is a better camera, and possibly bigger storage (32 gb) . Screen size is not perfect but manageable, fit my jean pocket

The thin structure which actually causes it's downfall later on? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my phone. It's the longest I've keep any single smartphone! However having to take it out of pocket before sitting down(because I wasn't doing that before), because now if it gets pressure a certain way while playing music on the speaker; audio cuts out. I have to constantly bend it back to try and maintain a straight phone.
Just wish it was slightly thicker which would have made it a bit more sturdy.

This phone is enough for years
I'll throw my 2cents in although i don't own the phone. So if I were you, I'd wait for the GX. It has the quite "new" Snapdragon S4 processor inside and that one is really a beast in terms of performance as it even blows away the Tegra 3 quadcore(4+1) in some benchmarks or in overall system performance. It won't take that long from now until the GX(international TX?) is released, so if you can wait, wait for it, I really recommend it. I'm lucky that I am on a long year contract with O2 already and I am allowed to choose a new phone this or next year for a fee of just 49€, so I will definitely get the GX!

Yeah, I've seen that on YouTube, now my main concern is how does it perform in a drop test. I wasn't able to find any drop tests with Google, but maybe you've heard or seen something that might be useable?

I don't really want to do a crash test because I'm not that rich hehe. Plus I doubt this phone can survive a crash without a few scars.
If vzw does come out with the dna+ how similar do you devs believe the hardware will be, and if it will be easy to port stuff from it?

That's what I'm going off of is the rumors I've been reading. I'm new to HTC so I just got the dna less than a month ago. I asked the reps at the store if there was gonna be a newer HTC released this year and all of them didn't even know the S4 was coming out this year let alone provide info on the dna, haha

I would be surprised if they launched a DNA+ and gave it a smaller screen than the current DNA, such as is on the One. Verizon has to have something up their sleeve, but I have yet to see anything i really think is plausible speculation.

Well the DNA could just be a rumor in are imaginations and few days from now we could wake up before the DNA was even announced. That being all a dream.

It's called being in sales, and there's a level of dishonesty that they can get away with.
It's really hard to sell an S3 or a DNA when someone believes a better phone is coming out in a month. That's a reasonable amount of time for people to put up with an old phone while waiting for the new hotness.

The goal of the salesperson in the store is to get you to sign a contract before you step out the door. That's it. They can't sell you something they don't have, therefore before a launch (or preorder) the next new phone doesn't exist in the salesperson's vocabulary.
As long as you realize the goal of the salesperson is to get you to sign a contract, then you're OK. Caveat emptor.
Personally I never set foot inside those stores.

Verizon confirmed there is an HTC phone coming out. The HTC DNA has its counterpart HTC Butterfly. What I've read when I look around for the next Verizon HTC phone is that there is a butterfly 2. The next DNA is rumored to keep a 5 inch screen and slightly better internals than the one. Its all rumors of course....

If I had one upgrade it would be the camera. The resolution is fine, but it is incapable of capturing images with any dynamic range. Any light sources turn into a giant white blob.

If I'm not mistaken, the lcd technology is also different. The dna has an lcd 3 and I believe the one is different. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

If I am not mistaken they are both LCD3.
The One has a slightly sharper display due to it being 1080p on a 4.7 inch display as opposed to a 5 inch display. If memory serves me the One has 469ppi and the DNA has 441ppi.

If your budget is truly $100 I recommend a Quadcore TV stick. If you search on YouTube for SomeCoolTech he has reviews on several different tv sticks. I personally use a Minix Neo G4 and a Neo X5 both are dual core and both run FABULOUS!!

All I want out of the ZU2 would be better battery, LED Flash on the camera (For flashlight abilities) and an official case that doesn't have a loose stylus holder and make the almost double it's size.
They can keep it's appearance the same, they can leave the screen the same size (Though bigger would be nice, if only up to 6.5"), hell they could even keep the same processor since the difference between the 800 and the 801 they include isn't really big.

Yeah, I heard that in Japan the Xperia Z Ultra sold very well.
Unless they have some really neato software in the Z2 Ultra I'll probably wait for the GPE.

Google I/O is in June(?) so i guess we'll get to see Android 4.5/5.0, which the Ultra GPe will get pretty quickly, so.. not sure i'm going to upgrade this year, unless the ZU 2 is crazy gorgeous and has a teleporter of some kind.
The source is way too vague, anyone could have come up with a news like that.
I bet my 6 yo daughter could come up with something even better.
Come on, "allegedly", "this summer", "at some point in 2014", "led flash and 13mpx camera"... anyone could have guessed any of those, this is simply a bad article, that's it.
And BTW, if they *will fit* a led flash, I don't see why they couldn't fit a freaking 20mpx camera as on the Z2.

Totally agree with I won't upgrade my ZU for a snapdragon 801 no way, I'll wait for a device with the new snapdragon 810 or Tegra K1.

This is a little concerning if I am honest, the 4K video heat thing is a bit obvious though and you should only be taking short videos with it.
Definitely going to be waiting a little while to see how the launch in the uk goes before deciding what I get

I also do not see it as a problem but as normal, since 4K requires more processing power!
Yup its true... I think this problem is in international set. Taiwan uses another model.

Hmm no such problems.
I've gotten two Z1 Compact and both had the gap. One more than other.
I don't know if it is relatively normal or simply a not so good construction by Sony.
Has it been confirmed that the gap compromises the waterproof qualities of the phone or is it just sloppy construction??

I guess it's the construction. But I didn't pay my money for sloppy QC.. My front camera alignment is way off. The hole is nearly touching the glass edge

Mine have the gap too.
White unit from Taiwan.
Actully, don`t care about the gaps, it`s just not quite exactly glued the glass, need to rotate counterclockwise just a little bit
Much more concerned about single speaker plaiyng when incoming calls
This is a fail of the fails!
This is a little worrying. But as with all new devices, there's release bugs.
Ordering my Z2 (Purple with any luck) in a couple of weeks when we have them available here in Australia. Hopefully the batches coming to us are a little more refined. The single speaker on calls should be a simple software update I would imagine. Same for 4K recording overheating, but hell, the power of such a small camera in a thin device, can't expect to record much more than a few minutes regardless.
