[Q] Any workaround for MMS and Adblock Plus? - AT&T HTC One (M8)

I would like to have Adblock Plus, but I must have working MMS for work.
I tried to modify the build prop, but I can't get it to work properly.
Anyone have a workaround for this?

I use AdAway, and have no problems with MMS.

I too am having MMS problems using adblock plus. Would love a solution.

Try using AdAway instead. Im also using it with no mms issues.

Ad away is on the viper rom. Have no issues with MMS here with that either

Yes. You can search Fdroid and it will come up. Once it is installed you have to choose download and apply. After that you need to reboot (don't let the app restart for you.) Every time you dirty flash a Rom you will have to do this again or it will not be applied. Other than that, it runs great.

HTC messaging app for vibrant?

Is there a way we could install HTC messaging app on our vibrants? Maybe somebody has an apk file to try? I love Samsung one, but it lags so bad at times!

FYI, its not the htc app, but the default messaging app from CM 5.0.8 for the nexus one will install just fine on the vibrant, IF you have root, and delete the stock application.
cheers
Is there a stickey for doing such process?

Once you have root, you could either do it via adb, or go download root manager and delete stock app, then you should.be able to install the apk file of the other messaging client.

Awesome. That worked like a charm can I also delete exchange services that has similar looking icon or would I need to keep that to run other email app like aquamail?

My guess is that is used for Microsoft exchange email set up. You can delete it using that app, but I'd make a backup of it just to be safe and put it somewhere.

email app sucks, and wasted half a day trying to get a work email set up on the stock "email" app until I tried the aquamail and got it set up while on tech support with godaddy, but then after i got it working went back to email to try the same settings and it didnt work on email with the right settings, garbage.

Does it blocks ads in all apps?
Is there an ad blocker that doesn't require root?
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
AdFree is definitely the best one. It doesn't need to run an app in the background to work.
Adfree and adblock plus have an issue with embded YouTube video

adblock-plus doesn't require root, and can block ad from both web browser and app via both 3g/4g and wifi
Adfree works good too!!

Does Adfree just populate the hosts file like Adaway?
if the phone is rooted try this. Blocks ads without breaking apps ( youtube still works ).

Adaway is open source and does exactly the same thing. I prefer open source. Adfree is not, i can't see how one could be better than the other beyond the politics of software. They both use the hosts file, so it's moot.

Inverted apps.

I'm on kk. Hyperdrive newest rom. Just wanting if anybody knew of inverted or blacked out apps that worked on kk hyperdrive or kk period.

Grab the free updater app from DJDarknight's signature and you'll have access to all sorts of blacked out and cleared out apps. More than I can even name.
Look in beta section for latest too..

Here it is https://www.dropbox.com/s/y0dyxmcju55rix8/FreeTBOupdater.apk
Basically it's your access to everything those guys theme. It's not an auto updater or anything like that.... Just install that app and it's pretty self explanatory. Enjoy man. Ton of great stuff on there.
Make sure you turn auto update apps to OFF/Never in your play store settings. Can't have nicely themed apps and then have Google keep taking them away with their non stop updates lol

Already did that. So do I have to move the apps out of system and then flash the ones to replace it. I see how it works now. It's awesome. I think I had more use pushing the apps to system and rebooting.

Well it depends on the actual app and how they've set it up. Some you flash some you simply install like any other apk. I've only had to flash a couple myself and everything was handled through the flash.
Most of the ones I use just install like a regular apk so it's as easy as just uninstalling the previous version and then your good..
Sometimes you have to hunt down why a flash doesn't take or it won't let you install an apk but so usually not to often. Whatever works for you though

Yea I noticed I've had to move the app in root explore to my sd card and push it to system apps. Haven't had any luck with just the flashing part yet. Got something to play with though. I've used them before but forgot all about them until you said something.

Well my friend I'm sorry I can't much help with this one. I don't actually use Google now myself and don't recall seeing them discuss any fc issues.
I'd say grab Catlog from The Play Store and reproduce that FC and get in touch with the TBO guys in their thread.
