Samsung S5 question - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I think I am in the correct forum for this question, if not I apologize.
I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5, but there are a couple of things about it that is making me wonder if I got screwed on the deal.
I traded the phone for another phone that I had that I really did not use much. This Galaxy I got is model SM-G900F. I was told that my AT&T sim card will operate just fine with it. Well it does to some extent. It only shows H+ no 4g or 4g lte or anything. Also on the front of the phone it kind of reads SAMSUNG but its in some sort of "funky" letters. Weird. And there is no gasket on the back cover for water proofing. There is a cover on the USB port. I am just wondering if its a "real" samsung phone or some kind of knock-off???

Inform the seller immediately that something wrong with the unit you've got, most likely it's fake. I bet you bought it from ebay

Here are the pics info of my s5. Wow not even a ultra power save mode or anything. When I go into the data mobile networks there are a lot of carrier options to pick from. I never seen anything like this on this S5.

Edit: not s5

that most definitely is a fake

So it is a fake? I will contact the seller hopefully I wont get screwed but think I already did...

WTF is MOLY.WR8.. and all that carp? It's not even flashed to stock before selling ? Wow

Is that old software? Can I flash a updated software? If its not a s5 what is it?

100% fake. No, you can't update it or flash anything on it. Return it immediately and tell the seller that it was fake.

If you bought it on ebay you can get you money back. I had the same problem with a G4.
Contact the resolution center. I used pictures from CPU-Z to make my case.

International version?

There is someone local selling an unlocked international version on the GS2, with the physical button on the bottom. Is there any differences in the software between this and the TMO version? If I were to buy this, can I flash and root as if I were using the standard GS2?
thanks.
If that is the international version (namely i9100) then that is the standard sgs2. It had more development going on than the other versions of it.

I saw that, and read an article that kept talking about the Nexus 7. I had a G2X that a sold and picked up a Nexus S for $165. I don't like this damn phone, so I'll be promptly selling and using the profit for a top tier phone!
Does the S2 feel like the standard cheap Samsung while holding it? Or does it actually have some weight to it? Coming from LG's and HTC's, those things are heavy.
EDIT: The Galaxy Nexus is supposedly available again next week.

The S2 does feel flimsy when holding it, but you get used to it honestly... Dropped the phone many times, only have one dent on it.

For me it is decent enough to look at and doesn't feel cheap even though it's light weight. Hmmm, you should decide whether you want a fast update (GNex) or better hardware buy slow update (Sgs2). Sgs2 is a great phone but samsung has the habit of updating a device for a year and then stop (not 1 year but you get the point). If i had the chance i would swap my sgs2 for GNex but i'm in doubt since i am a heavy user and i use my phone for gaming. Also, GNex lacks External SD card which is a No No for me.

Well, either way, I'll look forward to the device. Having the international version will be cool since not a lot of people have it, especially in white.
There is also a guy selling a white Galaxy Nexus. not too sure which to go for, same price even.

I don't really care for the OTA's, I'll flash whoever put together a flashable version of whatever OTA is released...
I actually ordered a G. Skill 32gb SDHC Class 10 from newegg.com for my G2X, which I don't have anymore, now with the Nexus S, I have no use for the card! The SD write speeds on this phone are HORRIBLE, about 800k/sec!!!
I'm a fan of the non-carrier branded devices for some reason. My G2X had LG on the top instead of the traditional T-Mobile, and the screen hue while turned off was a brownish color instead of a blueish-gray that the TMO version had. I had one of each G2X's and in comparison, the screen for the LG branded was much more vibrant.
Now I have the Nexus S, again no branding, which is another reason why I want the Galaxy Nexus.
I'm confused, to say the least!
Well, if you don't care about updates then go for the international sgs2 (i9100). Great specs and still one of the best phone in the market.

The S3 is WAY to overpriced, I would just get that, but not willing to dish out around $500 for a non contracted phone.
Oh, another reason to stay away from the carrier branded for me, is that they won't get IMEI/ESN locked by which ever carrier!

Huh? i don't really care to receive Jelly Bean on the Nexus S, the DPI is atrocious on this phone. That, mixed with the screen type don't equal out to a good display. My G2X looked WAY better than this device.
The S2 will get a good Jelly Bean port before the Nexus S will, I'm sure of that.

My only option is to have Verizon send me a refurbished phone. Do you think I should? The lady at the Verizon store said that since the s4 just came out that the refurbished phone would probably be brand new. Should I take the risk? I mean, if they sent me a refurbished one and it was scratched etc I'd send it back and tell them send me a different one. Wouldn't send them my original s4 until I made sure I was happy with the refurbished one.

I'd send it back. There would be no scratches on a refurbished phone. They have new screens on them. They are rebuilt and go through inspection. Honestly it would be no different than the one you have now.

Not sure if this will put your mind at ease but I just received a replacement phone as my earpiece sounded like a blown speaker...very annoying. The replacement had a screen cover indicating that it was certified like new so I assume it was a refurb but it looks and performs perfectly for me. No issues in five days so far with the replacement *knock wood*.
Like new cert is a refurbished. You can compare the back inside sticker to stock and tell it's a refurbished.

Ok well I guess I'm happy. I called Verizon and they are shipping me a phone and it will be here tomorrow. They let me change colors too. I have a black one but I think the white looks cleaner. He also put it in the notes that I would prefer a brand new device instead of refurbished. I'm definitely going to check everything on the phone tomorrow. Speed, build quality, battery temp, call quality and benchmarks. If all of that checks out then I'll keep the new phone and ship mine back.

[Q] What does a bricked phone look like?

Hi guys,
I bought a SGS4 the other day for $300 used. It came in the mail and it doesn't seem to work. I want to take it to Verizon to get a warranty replacement, but I'm afraid whatever is wrong with it was caused by the previous owner doing something that voided the warranty. Worst case scenario is I have to pay another $99 and use Asurion to replace it which I'm totally willing to do. Basically it turns on, but the LCD doesn't, only the backlight. It also gets super hot super quickly. I doubt it's bricked, I'm guessing water damage or the LCD went bad.
Take out the battery, put it back in, hold down volume and power, what happens?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2
If you think it's water damage check the sensors. And did you buy it with the impression that it was working 100% and nothing was wrong with it?

How do you even install this ? Just wondering for future reference hopefully not anytime soon...... But does the thing that hold it in place just gets pushed in there ? how will you take the old one out ? Or do you have to take the whole phone apart, Making the phone not being waterproof anymore which basically will be pointless since that is the whole point of this lol

Well no, but what other choice do you have? The bright side is it's only $5. I mean, the only other option is to get a wireless charging sticker (which breaks the water resistance anyway), or a real samsung wireless charing back cover. Both are more expensive than just replacing this flap every 2-3 months. I'm pretty disappointed in Samsung if this is truly the case though.

I hope I won't need to replace it though. A $700 phone shouldn't need the user to replace a part every 2-3 months. The GS1 (att captivate) had a sliding door that never broke in 3 years of use. Maybe samsung should have done that.

How many people are having this issue? Sure hope mine isn't problematic like this. Replacement Note 7 Catches Fire on Flight?

We'll see what comes of all this...

Yes, this isn't good at all. It's possibly a design fault in the 7 and not the battery. We will see what happens.

Something is super off about the article. All of the previous fires were while charging. This one the guy says it happened when he turned the phone off. It's awful convenient that the first case of a post recall Note7 catching fire be on an airplane. It's really weird that they let the guys friend back on an airplane that had just been evacuated. I'm holding out judgement til the phone is examined.

I thought the same. The report I saw said the phone was off and in his pocket when his leg started getting hot. Hmmm, the phone was off!! Not saying it can't happen, but he just happened to be on a plane and that plane happened to be on the ground. Hmmm I wonder if he works for LG or Apple?

Its actually smart. If you are going to sue the company, you need to have the phone in hand before you file the legal claim. You turn the phone over to the courts to prove you have the phone. If your phone catches on fire root means nothing lol. The heat alone will make it impossible for them to tell if the phone was rooted.
Man everybody is so sue happy in this day and ageā€¦ ..lol

But this shows how people are self-center. I understand to get some extra money, but they make some other honest people worried. And then all people who have no problems with ther phone should report too?

I think all of this is customer fault. I had old one and I run whatever I want to and my phone was just warm. New one whatever I do or charge wireless or with c-usb is cold. No problem at all. They must doing something to they phone that make them run hot, like root and installing some software etc.
