Replacement Note 7 Catches Fire on Flight? - AT&T Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

We'll see what comes of all this...
http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/5/1...te-7-fire-replacement-plane-battery-southwest

Yes, this isn't good at all. It's possibly a design fault in the 7 and not the battery. We will see what happens.

I still love my phone, I would wait for another replacement too. hehehe

Something is super off about the article. All of the previous fires were while charging. This one the guy says it happened when he turned the phone off. It's awful convenient that the first case of a post recall Note7 catching fire be on an airplane. It's really weird that they let the guys friend back on an airplane that had just been evacuated. I'm holding out judgement til the phone is examined.

I thought the same. The report I saw said the phone was off and in his pocket when his leg started getting hot. Hmmm, the phone was off!! Not saying it can't happen, but he just happened to be on a plane and that plane happened to be on the ground. Hmmm I wonder if he works for LG or Apple?

The funny thing is the burnt phone looks like a black phone but the box that he show that has the black Square says silver titanium. I don't know if that makes a difference but it looks black phone to me but it's a silver titanium in a box.

I think all of this is customer fault. I had old one and I run whatever I want to and my phone was just warm. New one whatever I do or charge wireless or with c-usb is cold. No problem at all. They must doing something to they phone that make them run hot, like root and installing some software etc.

None of them are submitting their phones for analysis (which is EXTREMELY suspicious to me), so we will never know the truth.

Makes since if they don't want them submitted For a analysis more than likely rooted or something else they don't want them to know very suspicious.

Its actually smart. If you are going to sue the company, you need to have the phone in hand before you file the legal claim. You turn the phone over to the courts to prove you have the phone. If your phone catches on fire root means nothing lol. The heat alone will make it impossible for them to tell if the phone was rooted.

Man everybody is so sue happy in this day and ageā€¦ ..lol

I have to believe that this guy reports to someone else, whether in the store or not... I'd call the store and get a hold of who that person is and forward on this situation. There's no reason they should push away a customer if they have a verifiable issue with multiple devices. Sounds like a complete d-bag to me.
You should be getting a customer experience survey via sms in a few days. write your feelings there. trust me, they'll see it.
why not exchange it at a different store? You dont need to keep going back to the same one to exchange it.

Liquipel I777

Has anyone sent their Galaxy S ii(I777) to Liquipel? I know it's not an option on their list of phones but they still let you send your device. I sent my device on Friday and will receive it back this week, you guys interested in knowing that if it actually works? Ill post up a video of my Galaxy S ii I777 getting ''Wet'' on.

Looks interesting but since I got my very first dumbphone I never had problems with getting water on it.
It opens up possibilities, but nothing I need at the moment.
Passing it on to my foolish friends though, so thanks for that!
No problem!
So it makes it water resistant but not proof right?

sent from my Galaxy SIII ...haha jk, I FOiLed ya!
I want see more reviews as its really new. But This is real. And does work. Here is how.
Hydrophobic nanocules are applied via vacuum. Thus coating the outside AND INSIDE from water molecules (which are bigger than the nanocules) thus can't get in and create a conduction.
It is rated itx-7 meaning it is waterproof to up to 30min at 1 meter (3feet) depth... Jeez. So i wanna go swimming with it

Its not meant for warranty purposes.. This is just for anyone that wants to protect their device from water damage.
Im sure it voids the warranty..
*edit* .. I think they are also trying to get in with (somebody.. I forget, but they mentioned it at CES).. so that phones come with the Liquipel protection - which is a great idea but than the suppliers end up losing money because of not having to replace asany phones.. Not sure how it all works but somebody loses potential mula

i played with this stuff at CES this year. It was Fascinating! They used the stuff on a Napkin and had it sitting in a pool of water. When you pushed the napkin around in the water it never got wet and just rolled off (unless you were extremely harsh with it).
Quite impressive to see. You could also see the water interacting with the screen as it splashed against it (showing that its not just a "fake" cover)

Somebody died swallowing water, that does not make the water poisonous.
There are 10.000.000 s3's out there, apart from the suspicion the exploded phone was microwaved, chances are that 1 out of that many apples contain a worm, 1 out of that many cars have a bad tail pipe. Etc.
Get insurance. Done. And even if it does explode within the first year, Warranty is there. After that? Insure with provider.

Actually the report came back from a Samsung investigation that the phone was damaged by microwaves and that the user put the phone in a microwave to dry it off.

Actually, within the EU the warranty is two years, if you didn't already know. (Check the warranty booklet if you don't believe me)
I'm always surprised how few people know this since all manufacturers provide it. Everyone just assumes it is one year.
Might not apply to OP (since there's no location), but just making sure no one gets ripped off buying an "extended warranty" for after the 1st year. Accident insurance is not the same though, and may well be worth it.

[Q] What does a bricked phone look like?

Hi guys,
I bought a SGS4 the other day for $300 used. It came in the mail and it doesn't seem to work. I want to take it to Verizon to get a warranty replacement, but I'm afraid whatever is wrong with it was caused by the previous owner doing something that voided the warranty. Worst case scenario is I have to pay another $99 and use Asurion to replace it which I'm totally willing to do. Basically it turns on, but the LCD doesn't, only the backlight. It also gets super hot super quickly. I doubt it's bricked, I'm guessing water damage or the LCD went bad.
Take out the battery, put it back in, hold down volume and power, what happens?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2
If you think it's water damage check the sensors. And did you buy it with the impression that it was working 100% and nothing was wrong with it?

How do you even install this ? Just wondering for future reference hopefully not anytime soon...... Or do you have to take the whole phone apart, Making the phone not being waterproof anymore which basically will be pointless since that is the whole point of this lol

Well no, but what other choice do you have? The bright side is it's only $5. I mean, the only other option is to get a wireless charging sticker (which breaks the water resistance anyway), or a real samsung wireless charing back cover. Both are more expensive than just replacing this flap every 2-3 months. I'm pretty disappointed in Samsung if this is truly the case though.

I hope I won't need to replace it though. A $700 phone shouldn't need the user to replace a part every 2-3 months. The GS1 (att captivate) had a sliding door that never broke in 3 years of use. Maybe samsung should have done that.

How many people are having this issue? Sure hope mine isn't problematic like this.
