Change AT&T boot logo and sound to Google animation & HTC bootup sound (Root) - AT&T HTC One (M8)

This has only been thested on stock rom HTC ONE M8 for AT&T, don't try it if you are on another network.
First thanks & credit to user Wonders_Never_Cease who helped me figure this out.
Your device must be with bootloader unlocked, rooted and s-off'ed. How to unlock bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702325. How to s-off: http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/. (Adb & fasboot knowledge required.)
I'm not resposible for any damage done to your device, you do this at your own risk. But it's safe as long as you follow instructions.
Steps:
1. Download this file: https://mega.co.nz/#!HZgDUCoK!OnMUJ-B5XPiBUuTbL1sHSBK6bI2PfAUBHOnpK82pleQ
2. Place on SD card or anywhere you want but remember where you copied it to.
3. Use any file explorer, I recommend Root Explorer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer&hl=en), go to /system/customize/CID/ and rename default.xml to default.xml.bak (just in case anything goes wrong, so you can restore the original). Then copy the default.xml you downloaded in the first step to this folder, verify the permissions on default.xml.bak, and change the permissions to the new default.xml to match the backup file.
4. Reboot, now you should have the Google Boot Animation & the HTC Bootup Sound!
In case you want to come back, delete the default.xml and rename the default.xml.bak to default.xml, that easy. Once again thanks to Wonders_Never_Cease, without his direction I wouldn't have found this, so all credit to him, I just made it more accessible.
Posts your results or if you have any issues.

Do you know if the boot animation changer in ROM Toolbox will work with the AT&T M8? I've been sketchy on trying it.

Default.xml?
Do you know what the change is to the default.xml file? I have already modified mine, and would rather not replace it.

I have a different boot animation on my phone and I'm not sure hot to apply it I don't have a pc so I want to do this straight through the phone I have sufb and astro file and the new boot animation shows up but I don't know where to put it any body know what I can do?
Willsnews
So just to be clear I have it on my phone but don't know how to switch between the stock and the new one x_x help me please I can't stand the stock animation t mobile gives
Willsnews
You want root explorer. First you want to extract the zip file that contains the boot animation that you want, using astro file manager. Then go into root explorer, and replace /system/media/bootsamsung.qmg and /system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
That will replace the video. The bootup sound is /system/etc/PowerOn.wav
replace those files with the one from the zip.
The shutdown video is a handful of image files located in /system/media/video/shutdown
and the shutdown sound is /system/media/audio/ui/Shutdown_128.ogg
Any other program other than root explorer cause I can't buy it cause I can't put it on my bill?
Willsnews
I have sufbs astro and andexplorer can I use those to do it?
Willsnews
Astro file manager doesn't give me a extract option but sufbs does but I guess I need ther root explorer for this cause I haven't had any luck any other way if you do know of a way to do this with the things I have listed it would be awesome to know and thanks for the reply x_x

I also do not have busybox wil that make a difference?
Willsnews
i tried a different approach but it worked for me.
i used root explorer and deleted the .PNG files from
/system/media/video/shutdown
then, i used VirtualDub (free download, just google it) and opened a gif that i wanted to use as my shutdown animation
once in virtualdub, go to file, export, image sequence and change the name to
shutdown_
for the number of digits in select 1
then change output to .PNG
click ok.
Go to the folder that you exported it to and select 14 consecutive images that you want to use and change the file names in order to shutdown_1, shutdown_2 etc....
move these files to your external sd card.
Now go back into root explorer and find these files. Select all of them and move them to system/media/video/shutdown.
You are done. With this method you can use any .gif you want so long as it has only 14 frames. I'm sure there is a way you can use more than 14 frames but I haven't figured that out yet.
I followed all these steps.
1) I'm rooted
2) Have Root Explorer
When I go to paste my new .png files over the old ones, everything seems fine. But when I check the files, they are still the old ones.
Also when I try and delete some of them, they appear gone for a second, then re-appear.
I've tried changing permissions for the files / folders, which appears to work. But then when I look at the permissions again, they have been set back to the way they were before.
Any help appreciated.
Mike
Same thing for me, I have no idea where to go from here, all i know is i will do anything it takes to never have to see that eye sore of a pink square t mobile bootup again... Someone help a brotha out

if you have CWM go to recovery and install the zip of your boot animation (if its not in a zip idk) but this worked for me

Change AT&T Bootanimation on Stock based Touchwiz roms.

This is a guide that I do not remember being posted anywhere, but if it has been, mods feel free to remove
This is for Stock based touchwiz roms ONLY where the dev hasn't added a custom bootanimation, and instead the stock ATT globe animation (which is a .qmg file instead of a zip ) is present. CM, PA, or AOKP roms do not need this, as you can just replace the bootanimation.zip file in /system/media for them.
First off special credit goes to Androidmechanic for pointing me in the direction of the thread to do so located HERE
The thread has some pretty clear instructions, but apparently some people still had problems with getting it to work, so here's what I did:
1.) Download Busybox from the playstore, open up the app and follow the instructions to install it. Even if you already have busybox from a previous time, a clean install of a fresh one will make this process work.
2.) Download the Bootanimation4u.zip AND Bootanimationzip4u.Samsungani.Only.zip from the thread linked above.
3.) Reboot into recovery and flash the Bootanimation4u.Samsungani.Only.zip FIRST, then flash Bootanimation4u.zip (I'm not sure if it is needed to flash both, but this is what I did to get it working.
4.) Reboot. Then paste any existing Bootanimation.zip files that you may have into /system/media through use of a root browser (ES File explorer, Root Browser, etc)
OR
if you don't have any bootanimation.zip files handy
you can download Boot Animation from the playstore and download and install from a PLETHORA of bootanimations. If you choose to do this follow these instructions, courtesy of XDA user ReelFiles
- install Boot Animations Root from the Play Store.
- Go into the app's preferences and change install location to /system/media/ and leave the default filename (bootanimation.zip) and go back to the main screen.
-. Select any bootanimation from the Server tab and hit Install. (Tablet ones at the bottom of the list look best.)
- Select the installed bootanimation again and hit Resize. Set it to 800x1280 30FPS.
-Tap the options key and select "Preview current" Make sure you like it and reboot.
You don't have to delete the .qmg files that Samsung uses for their bootanimation for this to work, but if for some reason this doesn't work for you, try deleting them and see what happens
Once done your bootanimation should be set! Happy Flashing!
Any idea on how to change the shutdown animation?

Shutdown animation is located system/media/video/shutdown. There is a shutdown.qmg file. I replaced mine with the stock intl' Samsung shutdown qmg file. Looks much better.
I have a request to make.I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 running Lollipop 5.0.1 and i tried and flashed the file but nothing happened, but the reason is probably becouse i tried this method first ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ection-how-t1897969/post31833122#post31833122 ) and made a mess of things. Now i see only the Samsung GS4 inscription and the blank screen until the device boots up.I want to switch back to the default boot animation but i can't seem to get it back no matter what i try and i no longer have my system/bin folder bckp.If you can point me to where i can download one or you have it and can shre it with me i'll be immensely grateful.
I've a Samsung S3 I9300 with Android 4.4.4: this method works with my device?
And is there a collection of bootanimation here on XDA?
Thanks
anyone know how to go back to using qmg files?

[Q] Bad build.prop edit

Hi guys, before I start I'll say that I have searched all over the internet and here on the forums and I couldn't find my particular issue. Well the thing is that I edited the line in my build.prop "ro.build.version.codename=REL" to "ro.build.version.codename=L" so I could get the material design on the Google Now Launcher pulled from a Android L build here's the thread I got that app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-android-lollipop-apps-launcher-apps-t2912905
I did that and now my device will boot up normally then I will reboot by itself then show the boot animation then repeat the same process again and again until I force the phone to recovery or fastboot.
By the way my device is the LG Optimus G (E970) running GEE 3 ROM 1.2 and TRWP 2.6.3.0 and I have a backup of the original build.prop on my PC. I don't want to lose my data and apps since I forgot to make a backup (silly me).
I would like to know if there is a way to push the build.prop file on my PC to my phone so I could just replace it, or create a flashable zip.
Please help me, and thanks in advance.
Nevermind. I managed to push the original build.prop file to /system set the correct permissions and now my phone is working again.
Admin feel free to delete or close this thread.

Back to Android and Feel like NOOB! Help

I have just moved back to Android from Windows Phone...Please don't shout at me, I enjoyed Windows UI but the app support is just awful.
Got myself a Z5 compact....obviously, why would I be posting here otherwise.
Its second hand and locked to o2, just waiting on the unlock code to get that sorted, but I hate the o2 animation. I have downloaded an alternative, however when in es file explorer, I can't seem to delete/rename or move the current bootanimation file. Some please tell the dummy what he is doing wrong. or another way to get rid of o2's stupid bubbles.
Everything is standard stock.
I feel like a complete beginner again.
Thanks!
Try root explorer, if no luck, you will have to root the phone to wonder in those protected sector.

You need root to modify system apps
Just flash a non branded ftf with flashtool
You don't need an alternative file manager or another ROM to be able to change the bootanimation. You only need root access. SuperSU needs to grant root permission to ES and in ES File Explorer you need to set Root Explorer on, and system R/W.
Possibly the default bootanimation isn't located in system/media (where you can drop your bootanimation) but somewhere else.
- you need to ROOT your phone to alter boot animation
- Sony releases Stock version for various LOCKED phones Verison, At&T, o2 etc. I am not sure what will happend if you FLASH stock rom (original) over locked o2. will it boot? or will it go in bootloops. however its worth trying atleast.
have both o2 version of ftf file and original ftf stockrom ready!
Just followed steps to try and unlock bootloader and the status states that "Bootloader unlock allowed: No" I presume there is a workaround, can someone help? Thanks

Superhero Boot Animation For Nokia 7 Plus

This one is probably the best boot animation I have ever used. A combination of Marvel and DC comics characters, it is a must-have for any Marvel or DC fan. It has almost all the popular superheroes like Batman, Superman, Flash, Captain America, Ironman, Hulk, Wolverine and many more. Just try it once and you will never want to switch to any other boot animation ever! It will definitely flaunt your device and set it apart from others. People will start noticing it as soon as you start using it. And they will probably be surprised how did you do this magic! Just kidding! But yeah, you will definitely start getting questions like "How did you do it?" "Please help me getting it" etc. Just smile and make a face like "Hey it's a magic"!! Try it to believe it.
Requirement:
1. A rooted Nokia 7 plus device (International version)
2. The bootanimation zip file given below.
3. Common sense and patience.
Instruction to use:
You don't really need to flash the zip file. I will make it very simple for you. Just download the zip file from the given link. The zip file will be like "bootanimation.zip". Now just open ES file explorer or any file manager with root access. Now locate the downloaded bootanimation.zip file and copy it. Now go to /system/CDA/600WW/Power-on-animation and you will see there is already a bootanimation.zip file. That is your current boot animation zip file. Just rename the current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip1 for future reference and now paste the downloaded bootanimation.zip file that you copied earlier. Now just restart your device and enjoy all the superheroes on your device. Please note, it won't replace the stock "AndroidOne" splash screen that shows at the beginning. If you want to get rid of the Nokia tune at the starting, just remove the Power-on-Wakeup.wav. Once you set up the new bootanimation, don't forget to give it rw-r-r permission.
If you like the boot animation, don't forget to hit Thanks. It would inspire me to give you more cool boot animations like this.
Note: If you want to see who are all the superheroes there waiting to be unleashed, just download the zip and unzip it to see all the images there.
Disclaimer: Any changes to /system will break OTA update. Hence, you are requested to either take a complete backup of your device or get ready to sideload OTAs manually. I am not responsible for device bricking or bootloop.

U can better make a Magisk module for this to avoid OTA issue
