[Q] Bricked glass please help... - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your time in reading this. I need help with my bricked google glass. Basically I bought a glass not directly from Google 3 weeks ago. Last night I hit factory restore and it shutdown. When it rebooted it just had a white screen displayed. I understand this as the white screen of death after much googling. As I did not get it directly from Google, I do not have support and they will not honor my warranty.
As such I have been trying all sorts of things to restore it to factory and get it to boot up:
I am doing all the activities in OSX.
1. I am able to access fastboot, fastboot devices shows my device serial, however adb devices does not and adb reboot-bootloader cannot find the device.
2. I was able to fastboot oem unlock using ubuntu as there is a known issue running this in osx. All other subsequent activities were done in osx.
3. I was able to download the factory image from the google developer site. I downloaded XE18.11 and XE18.1 as I remember the device updated to XE18.1 OTA.
4. I put the device into recovery mode by holding the picture button, pressing the power button and continue holding the picture button for 10-15 seconds.
5. When in fastboot/recovery mode, fastboot devices works, fastboot reboot-bootloader works but adb reboot-bootloader does not - it does not find the device, neither does adb devices.
6. I can fastboot flash boot boot.img but the next step hangs when I execute fastboot flash system system.img. It just hangs and does nothing. Manually triggering fastboot flash recovery recovery.img works, it's just the system.img that hangs...
However, if I fastboot -w flashall, it is able to send and write the boot, system and recovery images to the device but it still boots to a white screen after. I was expecting it to work and be restored to factory as the image files were successfully written.
The factory image for XE18.11 and XE18.1 contain the files below:
android-info.txt
boot.img
bootloader.img
fpga.img
recovery.img
system.img
userdata.img
xloader.img
7. fastboot flashall only flashes boot, system and recovery. Do I need to manually flash bootloader.img? What is the danger of doing this? I am afraid of touching the bootloader as this is the only thing letting me connect to the device.
8. What about the other image files like xloader.img, userdata.img, fpga.img...do I need to manually flash those as well?
I would appreciate any help from you experts to help me bring this back to life. I can't afford to have a very expensive brick. :crying:
If anyone can help me fix this, I am willing to donate to a charity of your choice whatever I can afford.
I am desperate and willing to try anything...
Thank you everyone!
Apologies to the mods, if this should be in the glass forum, I did not find any technical/help section there so I decided to post it here.
Alex

Any experts out there who can help me please?

[Q] UNREVERSABLE BRICK! Please HELP.

Hello Guys,
Just registered her at XDA and I hope I have not posted this thread in the wrong place. I will get right in to it without having to type the extra BS.
I have my TF201 which I have modded many times over to install a new ROM and firmware. About a year ago I had just flashed TEAMWIN recovery and got myself the absolutely SICK AndroWok 2.31 ROM. just a couple a months ago I wanted to upgrade my Android version to the latest because I was running 4.2.1. So I downloaded the upgraded Bootlader ZIP for the TF201 and thought while I'm at it I will update my recovery to TWRP 2.6.3.0... Big mistake... When I first go into recovery, it kept asking for a password... tried many times over and disabled my main OS password as I thought in some retarded way it was connected.... So for a little while I can easily reboot to AndroWok from the recovery and it would boot up fine... up until I hit the 5th attempt... From there on in, it keeps booting into recovery.... without a sign of change.... I TRIED everything.... NVFLASH, adb and fastboot the crap out recovery so I can flash the previous edition... it wont work... first off the files transfer way too quick and through all the transfer methods you can think of, I the blue fill up bar would never show... so I knew the flashing protocol was not complete although you would get the ok in command prompt. I even tried tried to flash the stock firmware thats about 112MB... it finished that in 10 seconds which is not possible... basicaly.. im stuck loopin into this retarded TWRP2.6.30... non of my flash or transfer methods work.. i cleared cache, i rebuilt the partition all of that.. im just not getting anything... and one more thing... when i would fastboot something out of command prompt, the selectable option on the tablet... where you usualy see the android logo, clear cache and rck.. (fastboot)... it would get stuck... as soon I flash wut ever file for recovery, bootloader, etc.... please help... i know i can get around this....

So what I understand is, that you can at least boot into fastboot mode, is that so?
Have you tried.the erase command?
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 erase recovery
Advice: One should never, repeat: never!, flash TWRP 2.6.3.0. Too many bricks are reportet. I had to buy new logic board for my tf201 because of this.
Second question: You talked of 'nvflash', you tried. So you have your nvflash blobs? If yes - you are safe!
Post the version of your bootloader.

Thanks for the reply... Yes I guess it was a terrible mistake to get 2.6.3.0... In terms of the blobs, I only have the firmware from Asus stock.. I havent extracted or backed anything up previously... and about the command you gave me; yes, I also tried that and no luck. Is there any other way? Something is telling me that partition is off... because basically im unable to flash and write anything.. all flash attempts are failed so nothing is getting written...

Also... i forgot to mention.... when i erase the recovery and try to flash the new one... command prompt would hang up with <waiting for device> ... that would stay there for ever.

Looks bad!
1. Have you got the right USB drivers for Windows (Naked Drivers)?
2. Have you tried another USB port?
3. Have you tried another USB cable?
4. How many icons do you find on BL menue? Do you really know, how to enter fastboot mode (NOI)?
If nothing helps, buy another logic board. It's cheap on ebay.

Yes I have the naked drivers... and I beleive it is fuctional because theres clearly a response from my tablet... i usualy start by entering the shel first which sometimes takes a couple of attempts. when its successful, i know a session is now active with my table to i simply exit again... then from there its easy because i know the tablet has a session with my pc so i "adb reboot bootloader" which automaticaly restarts the tablet into fastboot and icon hovering over RCK.... from there I run my commands and command prompts confirms it by the 'ok' displayed along with the time it took in seconds.... clearly theres something wrong there.... i should try it at another pc.... or maybe the issue is a bit more complex... the real question remains, why can i not flash another recovery besides the 2.6.3.0??. still any other suggestions.? i will try another pc and have a go

Problem On My TF201 - No Option To Boot Into Fastboot - Going Straight Into Recovery

Hello
After long time of reset and installations (4 hours from now) i'm stuck now on a very strange problem.
My Asus Prime tf201 is going straight into TWRP Recovery.
Even when i press the volume down and the power button i can't get into Fastboot screen.
I must get into the Fastboot screen to reset and delete my prime completely.
Even when i insert a small pin into the reset hole and pressed the volume down is doing every time the same thing and takes mw to the Recovery.
My device is also Unlocked.
Is there a way to fix it and be able to have the fast boot screen ?
Or my tablet is dead and i get put it in the garbage

So, is recovery working or only the splash screen?
If working, can you mount ext_sdcard?
If working' can you adb into tab?
Yes, the recovery is working and I can adb but can't mount ext_sdcard

So you can install recovery again.
I recommend one of those from the post#01 from this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2772093
Push recovery.blob to internal sdcard (/storage/sdcard0) and try to flash using terminal command of TWRP.
Code:
dd if=/storage/sdcard0/recovery.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 [enter]
reboot
If it works, you will see a blue progress bar. Let it finish and boot itself to System. On ASUS screen press power and voldown and you should see the three bootloader icons, RCK flashing. Now you are in fastboot mode. If you see four icons (RCK, Andy, USB and wipe) then you have wrong bootloader.
Report again here.
Thanks
In all the downloads in the link you gave me the file that i have after the unzip process is the recovery.img and it's not a blob file.
where can i find a blob file ?
So I searched in google for recovery blob files for the tf201 and it took me to the TeamWin website :
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/93
and i went down in the page for the "Download - Recovery Image / Fastboot Method (using ICS or JB Asus boot loader):" section and downloaded both ICS and JB blob files and tried to push first the JB and run the commend in the terminal . in both files it looks like it was working and than i reboot (it asks me to install SuperSU and i press No) but even after the restart nothing happened and it takes me to the Teamwin recovery (that in some strange way, the first screen that it shows me is to enter some password ....and i press cancel)
thanks

The cited teamw.in page is outdated. There TWRP stops at 3.6.0.1 which is (to my experience) an evil one. We are at TWRP 2.8.4.0.
Why don't you take my advice and take that one of here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53139910&postcount=1 ???? Nowadays there is no ICS TWRP anymore.
Best IMO is this one: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712468163
Don't stall at the name TF300T; it's also for TF201 and works with ext4 and f2fs. Either you install it by zip flash or unzip it and get the recovery.img to flash manually.
If you care for a blob file, rename it to recovery.blob. Android terminal commands don't care for file extensions; you need only a .img extension for the zipflash routine of TWRP.
Thanks
will give it a try now

If you are more comfortable with fastboot, you can flash recovery using
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash staging recovery.img
BTW could you post version of your bootloader (small notice on left upper margin of ASUS screen at bootload).
i tried and it give me an error
I'm uploading now a youtube video for you to see what i am doing - it will take a while and i will be happy if you can pass here tomorrow to see it and what it gives me.
about the bootloader - i think this is the problem, i don't have nothing there , when i turn on the tablet i see only the Asus logo and a message up there that said "device is unlocked"
about the fastboot - i can't run fastboot command because my tablet can't get into fastboot mode - as i told you it boot straight into the recovery

O.k. one of our best devs here has for the 'boot only to recovery' issue an elaborate solution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54965562&postcount=1
Problems could be connected with wrong bootloader. @lj50036 has somewhere provided some zips with fitting bl/recovery combos (don't find it atm).
Thanks
I will give it a try - hope to have short night.....

So:
1. How many icons on 'fastboot screen' which is bootloader screen.
2. Now you would see bootloader version; report.
3. 'device' command doesn't work on my pc either; fastboots nevertheless. Try
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery recovery.img
and report outcome by the word.
I see 3 icons . I can't remember if I see now the bootloader version ...I'm in my office now. By the way, I sent you a message in hangouts.

Yoga Book YB1-X90F (Android) - How to Flash back to Stock Rom 6.0.1 /downgrade

hello all
i spent last few hours looking for solution to how to flash Stock Rom to my YB1-X90F and i found steps here and there and finally i got it. so i gathered all the steps in one thread to help whoever want to flush back to stock or downgrade from newer version for any reason.
This will erase all user data.
1. do it on your own risk, I'm not responsible for any damage to your devise.
2. Unlco your bootloader here is the steps by earthCallingAngela ----->>> Here
3. if you having issue to connect your drive to your computer while on bootloader you can install Intel driver, its worked for me, ----> Here
4. now install Intel Phone Flash Tool, i think it will install drivers as well, download it from here
5. Download Yoga book YB1-X90F Stock Rom Uploaded by Flippy498 from here
6. open Intel Phone Flash Tool and boot your phone on bootloader by Vol Up + Power, you should see the tool detect your Tablet.
7. on intel tool click on brows and located the Rom, wait for the tool to unzip it,
8. do not change anything just click on Flush and wait for it, on the middle of the process the tablet will ask you if its ok to wipe user data choose yes
after that the tablet will reboot and finish the installations and power off itself, power it on and wait for it, its will take long time for first boot so do not power it off.
Halo keyboard will not work until you do these steps By vimalbhimani on here
a) Open ‘’contacts’’ app, create a new local contact ” test”
b) Click search button at contact
c) Input ####6020# code into search bar
d) a list of country codes will po up, browser the country code list, then chose country code US and click OK
e) Then device will reboot and update, you should be able to use halo Keyboard after that.
note: i have issue with TouchPl keep stopping, had to chose google instead of Lenovo to get it to work without error
if you want to update the system to latest version (7.0.1) you can just go to update and update it.
if you have something to add please do
Thank you all.
Here's an alternative method for those who don't trust flashing tools due to bad experiences and prefer flashing files manually via Fastboot (like me):
Follow steps 1. to 3. and 5. of the opening post.
Unzip the stock rom (archive) into your ADB/Fastboot folder.
Boot the tablet to the bootloader (c.f. step 6. of the opening post).
Use the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash gpt gpt.bin
fastboot erase misc
fastboot erase persistent
fastboot erase frp
fastboot erase metadata
fastboot format config
fastboot format country
fastboot format cache
fastboot format data
fastboot format factory
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash config config.img
fastboot flash country country.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader
fastboot flash oemvars bootloader_policy-oemvars.txt
fastboot flashing lock
fastboot continue
Execute each of them with Enter and wait till a command got executed completely before you try to use the next one.
It might happen that you face an error while flashing that oemvars bootloader_policy-oemvars.txt. I couldn't find out why that happened and ignoring it seems to be harmless.
Follow steps a) to e) of the opening post.

hopefully it sticks around long enough for others to grab.
note that the steps are slightly different in that you have to manually select the .json in the extracted folder.
Could someone please help me with downgrading my YB1-X90L, it just refuses to boot at all after my nephews messed with it, I found the stock rom but I can't get some of the needed programs and drivers,

Here's an alternative method for those who don't trust flashing tools due to bad experiences and prefer flashing files manually via Fastboot (like me):
Follow steps 1. to 3. and 5. of the opening post.
Unzip the stock rom (archive) into your ADB/Fastboot folder.
Boot the tablet to the bootloader (c.f. step 6. of the opening post).
Use the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash gpt gpt.bin
fastboot erase misc
fastboot erase persistent
fastboot erase frp
fastboot erase metadata
fastboot format config
fastboot format country
fastboot format cache
fastboot format data
fastboot format factory
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash config config.img
fastboot flash country country.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader
fastboot flash oemvars bootloader_policy-oemvars.txt
fastboot flashing lock
fastboot continue
Execute each of them with Enter and wait till a command got executed completely before you try to use the next one.
It might happen that you face an error while flashing that oemvars bootloader_policy-oemvars.txt. I couldn't find out why that happened and ignoring it seems to be harmless.
Follow steps a) to e) of the opening post.

looks like the original link is down, so i searched for the file name YB1-X90L_USR_S110085_1710170829_WW08_EP_ROW_otafull.zip and this came up:

So my Android YB1-X90F was locking up when trying to boot, just stuck showing the Lenovo logo. Thinking I'm clever I stubbled across the boot menu if you start the device with the Volume Up held. From there I tried the Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset. Then the tablet started up and shows the Green Andriod Bin Man, saysi Encrypting and promptly reboots. So one starts Googling and ends up here. Some very help information, thanks for that.
So I've got as far as installing all the drivers/Intel Phone tool/Android Suite etc. but I'm still stuck. The flash is locked. Is there another way to unlock this as I can't get into Android to allow the developer options as suggested in Step 2 of the opening post?
Trying the fastbook commands in post 2 also fail
Code:
FAILED (remote: Prohibited command in locked state.)
finished. total time: 0.170s
TIA
LOL @ me, of course the manual fastboot commands fail as that's precisely what the Phone Tool App trying when doing its magic.

Lenovo z5 stuck in fastboot mode

Hi everyone,
first of all, I guess there should be a section dedicated to the Z5 to keep the forum clean!
Other than that, I'm really having trouble with my Z5. I can't find a way to move on from fastboot mode! Can't boot to edl, tried to flash recovery but they won't boot and so on...
Do someone has some idea? I can provide every information you need to troubleshoot that!
Thank you in advance,
Lorenzo Benevento.
Hi , inside stock firmware which .img files you have ?
Hello guys,
Could any of you create a brick troubleshooting thread in this model?
I need help with unbricking my Z5. I think I messed up with the recovery partition.
I can't turn it on at all after I press all the button combinations.
I tried the suggestions on the Sahara error that they did on the Lenovo Zuk Z2 with no success.
Does anyone have a workaround for this kind of thing?

Hello,
I bricked my Lenovo Z5. I need your help, please!
I installed from fastboot, Pixel Dust ROM and after that, the phone not starting. When I connect the phone to PC, I have message with Unlocking Bootloader (was unlocked initialy, on old rom) then Lenovo logo and after a black screen.
I downloaded ZUI_3.9.075_ST for Lenovo, I installed Qualcomm drivers, I installed Qfill but when connect the phone I don't have 9008 Port, to me is 900E. I read few forums about this error (https://zukfans.eu/community/threads...e-easily.3504/ and https://club.lenovo.com.cn/thread-3021991-1-1.html), I makeed a USB cable for DEEP Flash,I peeled the usb-c cable and touched Green and Black wires, but without success.
I installed a new Lenovo USB driver and with USB cable for DEEP Flash, I put the phone in the 9008 port, and Installed with successful, many ROMs 3.9.075, 3.9.200, 4.0.390 but every time after the first reboot appear message with opened bootloader then Lenovo logo and restarting to infinite.
When the phone is connected to PC I have on the phone a menu with "First Boot Mode" and the phone is accesible from PC:
"C:\Users\user>fastboot devices
bb806aa3 fastboot"
I will apreciate yours help. Thank you!

Don't worry i've already solved with some CHINESE PIROMANCY!!!!!!! Even with effective IMEI restoration (I couldn't restore the 2nd IMEI because I didn't know how to set up this one manually with the method I've used with my lenovo)
Hello,
I have a Lenovo Z5s. I wanted to install new android rom like Pixel Experience
I managed to unlock the bootloader with adb fastboot.
I succeeded in flashing TWRP recovery 3.3.1-0529 for my device.
I've downloaded Pixe Experience GSI rom available here https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5...evelopment/lenovo-z5s-pro-twrp-3-3-1-t3953346
I have copied and pasted the Pixel Experience rom (.img file) on my SD Card.
With TWRP, I have wiped necessary files for a clean install.
I have launched the installation of the rom, installation was complete, the phone has reboot, I show Pixel Experience boot sequence with Google logo. The process asked me a password (Encrypted?) . I decided to reboot the phone.
Now, the phone is blocked with a bootloop in recovery mode. I can't access anymore to TWRP recovery. (Erased?)
To explain clearly the situation: I have the menu showing these options: Restart bootloader > Recovery mode > Power Off > Boot to FFBM > Boot to QMM I> Start
FastBoot Mode
PRODUCT_NAME - sdm710
VARIANT - SDM EMMC
BOOTLOADER VERSION -
BASEBAND VERSION -
SERIAL NUMBER - ********
SECURE BOOT - yes
DEVICES STATE - unlocked
No Bootloader, no Baseband.
All of the options return the phone back to the same menu.
The situation seems to be critical (phone bricked) and I can't do anything and I don't know what to do. Is there a chance to save my phone?
Your help will be precious to make my phone work.
Thanks in davance . Best regards.
Hey guys i am also in bootloop with unlocked bootloader ,can you please help us to save our phone !!!???

How to unbrick Zenfone 7 if stuck in fastboot with no recovery (locked oem)

Hey everyone. Today I've finally unbricked my Zenfone 7 after my dumbass locked the oem with fastboot since I've already rooted my phone and didn't want to use adb anymore (I was getting tired of the warranty voided message at boot too). Right after locking the oem, the phone booted and displayed a message that says: " Your device is corrupted. It cannot be trusted and won't boot". You already could tell I was scared as hell, so all I did the past hours was to look around until I found this solution!
Have in mind I'm not an expert or a developer, I'm only hoping you find this thread if you ever find yourself locked in fastboot with no access to recovery, oem, adb or usb debugging, just fastboot commands.
Having said that, you need to flash the raw firmware for your device. For the Zenfone 7 the one you need is "WW__ZS670KS_29.14.53.5_MR1.3_20201111_release-user.raw".
You also need:
- Android sdk and platform tools (minimal adb works too but I recommend original google software)
- Usb asus drivers
- Usb google drivers (installable from android studio just like sdk and platform tools)
Turn on your device on fastboot and connect it to your pc, then open cmd or powershell on your platform-tools folder and execute
Code:
fastboot devices
to check if your zenfone is detected. Close the command prompt.
Now, on the raw rom folder open flashall_AFT.cmd as administrator, then it should start flashing all of the stock firmware files. Once the prompt closes itself, reboot your phone using volume keys and power button to select.
In my case, right after booting, the phone displayed a message that said "your phone is corrupted" but with a wipe data option this time around. Choose wipe data/factory reset (all your data will be gone).
There you go! The phone should reboot into stock clean rom now.

How strange, you shouldn't need OEM unlock to flash the raw rom. Hope you get through it... meanwhile I'll let you know if I find a possible solution

thanks, I've searched enough and tried it all, sent ticket to Asus support,
they say considering all that it's probably physically corrupted,
nothing much I can do at home
