[ DEV ] [ v1.1 ] For CM11 users, here's how you can use CM11S kernels - ONE Android Development

If you're interested in using CM11S kernels on CM11 nightlies, here how you can do it. The only catch is if the kernel doesn't include the file init.superuser.rc in the kernel ramdisk, you won't be able to use the built in root, so you will have to get root with a third party app like SuperSU

Thanks for this. Good to see you here developing for the opo.

Is there any way to use CM11 kernels on CM11S?
Enviado desde mi One mediante Tapatalk

It seems CM made too many changes to surfaceflinger, etc on the 7/18+ builds that it won't be possible to do this anymore without reflashing a lot of files, so I guess we'll have to wait till CM updates CM11S to 4.4.4, which hopefully will be in the next couple of weeks

Can you please give me your take on what makes the 11s builds different at the kernel level compared to the nightlies? I'm trying to understand how/if the development on the two streams are in any way sharing or overlapping. I know the software is different, but I'm asking about udner the hood, rather than just apps.
Are the nightlies better optimized or is 11s getting more specific attention?

Flash Calkulin's_CM11S_Kernel_Support_for_CM11.zip,Not supported FrancoKernel for cm11 Nightly

New version is up that supports the latest nightlies

I have flashed the new version (1.1) and franco kernel, but after that, I dont have root. All root apps doesnt work.

For me, the phone doesn't start..

have you tried to reflash SuperSu or download it from the market?

I'm using the included root feature of CM11.

@Calkulin
Correct order is:
1) Flash CM11
2) Flash SU
3) Flash Patch?
4) Flash Franco?
Just checking.

Maybe not the correct way, but I applied Franco r9 then the patch. But I don't see why either wouldn't work.

[ROM][KVT49L]AOSP 4.4.2 from source (Alpha 01)

The reason I post my ROM here is because I'm soon starting with a new rom, broodROM KitKat which will also be available for the Note 3, So I figured why not test it on my current AOSP ROM (to see if there is any trouble on compiling, but no!). This AOSP is based on the real Google AOSP, no real further modifications (only thing is that it includes DeviceSettings from the S4 currently), and AppOps is exposed. that's all.
It includes the stock CM11 kernel (which is kinda crappy). but I don't have the device so cannot make decent kernel myself without testing. Also the ROM is 100% untested. but it compiled without any error with my sources (www.github.com/AOSP-S4-KK) so I think it's alright.
Working List
- You tell me I have no idea :silly:
Download Alpha 1
www.broodplank.net/files/AOSP-442-N9005-Alpha-1.zip
on alpha 01 you need to flash a custom kernel
SEND ME LOGCAT! BECAUSE CURRENTLY IT SEEM TO BOOTLOOP
The device name is listed as hlte in settings / build.prop, don't worry this is actually hltexx
Download Gapps Lite + SuperSU (yes it's not rooted by default, I recommend installing this package)
http://broodplank.net/files/gapps-4.4.2-lite-with-supersu-1.86.zip
Sources
- https://github.com/aosp-s4-kk
Download:
Code:
mkdir ~/AOSP
cd ~/AOSP
repo init -u git://github.com/AOSP-S4-KK/platform_manifest -b kk-4.4
repo sync
Building:
Code:
. build/envsetup.sh
lunch
make otapackage

anybody that has tried this, can you let me know if the temp/humidity sensors are still working after a few hours? as with other cm roms they stop working for me
Awesome Broodplank! Just switched from the Galaxy S Plus to the Note 3, always enjoyed your roms on there. Will try out this one! Keep up the good work

Lol what the hell, that's almost impossible that my rom triggered download mode XD.
But it could be true, I have no clue since I do not have the device. what you could try is using the boot.img & /system/lib/modules from CM11 nightly.
btw, just downloaded CM11 and noticed there are NO modules in the kernel of hltexx. this means the kernel I added will not boot most likely.
So please install this zip after installing the rom:

Just bootloops with that .zip you added.
I did however change your kernel zip after the bootloop and used - temasek's HLTE custom kernel - I am now on the Android start up screen you have added but it is stuck on there.

Sorry I couldn't manage to get a logcat via ADB due to some kernel issues with connecting to the PC - I'll try again today. - Is It possible you are using the old CM sources rather than the unified build sources? - device changed from HLTEXX to HLTE

Ah I dropped the herp a derp then hahah, Nah reason I thought that was because of the CM kernel used to boot it up. Thanks for correcting :good:

@gianton it'll boot into splash screen with temasek's kernel, if you wanna try and grab an ADB Logcat? - I'm having issues getting one :crying:
Sorry for not providing a good kernel, the thing is I cannot compile it decently with the ROM. it says I have to add module support and recontinue, thing is, the note 3 does not use it. but my build forces it.. Anyone have experience on CM with compiling the kernel? (the kernel is from CM after all)
You could try temasek or Yank555 or wootever for help with kernels as they're pretty decent at them - civato knows his stuff also, however I believe he has only worked with Stock samsung kernels and not CM stuff.
Still cannot get ADB logcat, phone won't recognise in PC

[Kernel][4.4.2][P605] Permissive Stock Kernel (OB1)

So guys ive experimented a bit and found out how to compile a kernel from source. Some guys here are waiting for permissive kernel to install linux deploys etc. Here it is. Not perfect yet, but seems to work. Has nothing special features. Uses my ramdisk from my xKat Rom with init.d support. So please dont ask for more features!! Its mostly pure stock. When i try to build a custom kernel, i will make a new thread for it.
Download
Stock_KK_Permissive_Kernel_NG1-p605
Stock_KK_Permissive_Kernel_NJ1-p605
Stock_KK_Permissive_Kernel_OB1-p605
How to install
Download the file and place the Zip on your intern or extern memory.
boot into Recovery
go on install into TWRP
look for where you placed the Zip
click on the zip an slide to the right
after that go to reboot
How to set permissive?
Permissive is not activ on boot. So use the App "Terminal Emulator"
open it
type su
type setenforce 0
to check it type
getenforce
and you will see its permissive now. But only for this session. If you rebot your device it will enforcing again.
Better choice is the App "SElinux Mode Changer".
Install it from Play Store
and set on permissive
It works with any boot now.:good:
Troubleshooting
if you have trouble with WLAN, delete your connection onetime
reconnect to your accesspoint and WLAN will work again.

Can someone build kernel with framebuffer console support - http://blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=linux-kernel:drivers:fbcon
@hanspampel
A noob question - but it's better to be sure before start doing something
Moreover - you are the only who made a custom kernel for this device :highfive:
So: is it true I should only replace boot.img with original one (from original tar.md5 package) and change "misc" file with "ro.securestorage.support=true" to obtain zip recovery for flashing original kernel back?
Hi

Isn't NK1 the latest one? Or no difference as for kernel part?
Yepp your right. NK1 is the latest, but my rom uses the dbt where is NJ1 the latest. But the NG1 works on NJ1 FW too. So i think there is no real modification on samsung side. Beside there is no another update from sources for p605 available. So that means, is there a modification from samsungs side, then only in ramdisk. This is why i changed it to NJ1 one. Maybe there is one who knows.

[TWRP] [CAF] TWRP CAF Builds for Nexus 5

I will update this thread whenever a new TWRP build for hammerhead comes out....
What is it for?
Those who want to flash CyanogenMod (myfluxi) builds with Code Aurora Forum (CAF) optimizations, will require this modded TWRP as those builds will not flash with regular TWRP recovery.
Download
https://dl.twrp.me/hammerheadcaf
How to install this recovery?
(Make sure your bootloader is unlocked.)
Flash the downloaded recovery.img with fastboot. (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
Previous Build
Download
(Current TWRP-CAF version: 3.0.0)

How to install this recovery?
(Make sure your bootloader is unlocked.)
Flash the download in any custom recovery to switch to TWRP CAF.
OR
Extract downloaded zip, flash the extracted recovery.img with fastboot. (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)

I changed the script installation, simply I took the script of a no caf and overwrite a caf, ie used the TWRP without alteration and it worked. The net effect (stability, speed, compatibility) is the same?

Sure but you have to edit your updater-script for each nightly. Moreover, if you are using an updater tool like CyanDelta then TWRP for CAF is more than welcome.
With another unofficial version I use, there's no differences between AOSP and CAF versions. TWRP for CAF works with 'hammerheadcaf' instead of 'hammerhead' when flashing a rom. That's it.

Yep deleting apps, adding personal apps, inserting lines in build.prop can be done with a flashable zip. Though you may have to read a little to create the updater-script.

Friend I have not any problems with scripts, only it's more convenient for me to include in the rom zip my custom structure, only this.
So this is a hybrid Recovery, can we use Non-CAF roms with this one? and is multirum useable?
Would love to see the possibility using a CAF rom as Primary and Android M as Secundaire !

CyanogenMod 11 [UNOFFICIAL] for i9100 with Stagefright Fix

For all those who aren't yet ready to upgrade to Lollipop but would like to close this vulnerability on their device, I have built the latest CM11 source as of 9/1/15 (since CM11 nightlies for this device are no longer released for download). This build is unofficial but I have not modified it in any way**. It includes all StageFright fixes that the CM development team has implemented.
All required downloads are located here.
Works well as a daily driver with Lanchon's i777 Crossflash Kernel on my device (i777/S959G) but is untested on an i9100 (please report your success/failure).
Installation instructions can be found on CM's website or on Lanchon's kernel thread (above).
I recommend wiping cache/system/data prior to flashing (dirty flash with only a cache wipe did not work on my device when upgrading from the last public nightly).
Good luck!
** I did manually modify the updater-script to allow this ROM to be flashed on any device (because i9100 ROMs refuse to flash on the i777/S959G). Flashing this ROM on anything other than an i9100/i777/S959G WILL brick your device.

Yes, I believe that SF2 is fixed based on this article which references this AOSP patch which was merged into CM11 13 days ago (I built this ROM about a week after). I'll rebuild it tonight and update my post just to be sure.

Fresh build uploaded into the first post. Let me know if it works.
Not yet tested. Im on holiday. But thank you for this!
I have 3 days with this rom, it seems to me a solid built, reliable for daily use. Testing stagefright vulnerability I've got inconclusive results:
Not vulnerable testing with Stagefright Detector by Lookout and with Stagefright Detector by Zimperium
Vulnerable testing with Stagefright Detector by ESET and Stagefright Scan by Trustlook.
I will continue to use this rom , that overall it works well , as long as I will not have any inconvenience ! Thank you!

Oh woops, sorry - get rid of the Xposed you just installed (didn't realize you were on kk). You can use the xposed uninstaller .zip in the download link I mentioned earlier. For kitkat, you should install Xposed directly through the app (in the Framework section).
This ROM is stock Cyanogenmod. Along with Lanchon's TRIM kernel, it should perform better than the stock firmware that this phone comes with. However, it is probably not substantially better than other KitKat ROMs out there (like Omni, AOKP, etc.)

No AOSP builds/ROMs on 7.0?

Hey guys, I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'm wondering if anyone else has compiled a flashable Aosp or near-aosp build of android 7.0? I'm currently on PureNexus, and I'm looking for a very minimal ROM as it's the only way to reduce the lag on this low memory device we all know and love (hate?). Thanks!

I'm 100% with you on this. Minimum is best. I was wondering where the homecooked 7.0s are too.
Way too soon for a stable aosp build.
You'll probably see a flashable, pre-rooted stock rom appear first. Often these are tweaked, debloated etc so can be quite minimal.
Experimental aosp builds will likely emerge soon too but if you're the type to moan about roms not appearing fast enough and the low memory of a device you bought then you likely won't like bugs either. Maybe wait for a bit.

@USBhost You see anything in my git repos??? Basically the same as my MM builds.
Attaching some twrp screenshots and recovery.log below.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Thanks but get same result --> I have attached another twrp recovery.log at bottom. It shows whats happening w/ su flash. I think LOL.
I had stock rooted but now am trying to get my aosp build up and running w/ no luck rooting. I am going to start over clean w/ fastboot stock w/o root and then try installing aosp rom and rooting.
I am also having the problem w/ twrp unhooking sometimes --- d**n N9 is very finicky!!!
Thanks for the help.

You can also just try flashing the stock boot.img
And then flash SuperSU

Ok finally got some time to play ---- fastboot is my friend LOL!!!
I used fastboot to wipe and start over w/ a clean tab -----> Only way I get root with my rom at current build is using twrp ---> flash my rom w/ stock boot image, flash supersu sr1 2.78 ---> bootup got root. That's all I can find that works. @USBhost Do you have an N k that allows root??? Do you have any idea what is going on with this??? BTW --- Trying to install as system install causes bootloop for me. So the only option I have at the moment is supply stock boot image and systemless root and w/ the rom. PITA
