[TWRP] [CAF] TWRP CAF Builds for Nexus 5 - Nexus 5 Android Development

I will update this thread whenever a new TWRP build for hammerhead comes out....
What is it for?
Those who want to flash CyanogenMod (myfluxi) builds with Code Aurora Forum (CAF) optimizations, will require this modded TWRP as those builds will not flash with regular TWRP recovery.
Download
https://dl.twrp.me/hammerheadcaf
How to install this recovery?
(Make sure your bootloader is unlocked.)
Flash the downloaded recovery.img with fastboot. (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
Previous Build
Download
(Current TWRP-CAF version: 3.0.0)
rghost.net/7gBSJsDMZ
How to install this recovery?
(Make sure your bootloader is unlocked.)
Flash the download in any custom recovery to switch to TWRP CAF.
OR
Extract downloaded zip, flash the extracted recovery.img with fastboot. (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
TWRP-CAF latest sources (based on CM13): https://bitbucket.org/kylon/android_device_lge_hammerheadcaf_twrp
Build and source provided by @kylon ! Thanks!

Welcome is it working fine?

I changed the script installation, simply I took the script of a no caf and overwrite a caf, ie used the TWRP without alteration and it worked. The net effect (stability, speed, compatibility) is the same?

Sure but you have to edit your updater-script for each nightly. Moreover, if you are using an updater tool like CyanDelta then TWRP for CAF is more than welcome.
With another unofficial version I use, there's no differences between AOSP and CAF versions. TWRP for CAF works with 'hammerheadcaf' instead of 'hammerhead' when flashing a rom. That's it.

Change every night is no problem for me since I customize various items for installation, but a hybrid TWRP is great. The topic of this hybrid is or there is another (not yet tried)?

My settings are not only Tweaks, ranging from the delete apps on rom expendable to me the restoration of personal apps installed on the system and inserting lines in build.prop among others.

Yep deleting apps, adding personal apps, inserting lines in build.prop can be done with a flashable zip. Though you may have to read a little to create the updater-script.

Friend I have not any problems with scripts, only it's more convenient for me to include in the rom zip my custom structure, only this.

So this is a hybrid Recovery, can we use Non-CAF roms with this one? and is multirum useable?
Would love to see the possibility using a CAF rom as Primary and Android M as Secundaire !

@davidsonjesus Best way is the one you find convenient.

Added TWRP 2.8.7.1

Guys, how do I revert back to a hammerhead recovery? Tried to flash the twrp, but got an error message!

Download the AOSP version from TWRP website then flash the .img from your CAF TWRP or use fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Anyone have zips with modified splash?

I'm on chroma now, and want to try cm13 caf.

[ DEV ] [ v1.1 ] For CM11 users, here's how you can use CM11S kernels

If you're interested in using CM11S kernels on CM11 nightlies, here how you can do it. The only catch is if the kernel doesn't include the file init.superuser.rc in the kernel ramdisk, you won't be able to use the built in root, so you will have to get root with a third party app like SuperSU
Thanks for this. Good to see you here developing for the opo.
Is there any way to use CM11 kernels on CM11S?
Enviado desde mi One mediante Tapatalk
It seems CM made too many changes to surfaceflinger, etc on the 7/18+ builds that it won't be possible to do this anymore without reflashing a lot of files, so I guess we'll have to wait till CM updates CM11S to 4.4.4, which hopefully will be in the next couple of weeks

Can you please give me your take on what makes the 11s builds different at the kernel level compared to the nightlies? I'm trying to understand how/if the development on the two streams are in any way sharing or overlapping. I know the software is different, but I'm asking about udner the hood, rather than just apps.
Are the nightlies better optimized or is 11s getting more specific attention?
Flash Calkulin's_CM11S_Kernel_Support_for_CM11.zip,Not supported FrancoKernel for cm11 Nightly

I have flashed the new version (1.1) and franco kernel, but after that, I dont have root. All root apps doesnt work.
For me, the phone doesn't start..

Correct order is:
1) Flash CM11
2) Flash SU
3) Flash Patch?
4) Flash Franco?
Just checking.

It's built a bit later, didn't check it really, maybe it cointains more changes. But even now there are few new commits in AOSP, not included yet in any ROM.

What is the difference between the lollipop binaries and offical binaries? Like functionaily wise
Does this contain SuperSU, or do I need to flash after install?
Whenever I try to flash, it tells me that there is no OS installed when I try to reboot.
NO OS install like another L thread.

Sorry op for posting link
Worked for me. I flashed a factory image of kitkat, then factory reset, then flashed twrp recovery, and then flashed this zip with the gapps for lollipop hosted by cyanogen.
Got root by flashing supersu's modded kernel and then supersu update zip.
All apps were automatically backed up after boot, but there is one strange thing:
Google play keeps telling me Google plus is incompatible. Is this something wrong with the Rom? Or lollipop? Or something else??

Just updated drivers really. There currently aren't any lollipop binaries that are available. Unless you can pull them from the current preview. However, you can use the preview binaries or the 4.4.4 ones until the new ones drop. I used the preview ones, but haven't been able to flash it yet.

I downloaded yesterday an 2.83 version and had problems when flashing roms via otg so i returned to 2.82 . Is this a new 2.83 version ? I think i downloaded it from your afh.
Anyway i will give it a try later.
Thanks for you hard work on this and Temansek
Having lived the life of a flashaholic in just the past weeks, the listed fixes and enhancements in this update are more worth to me than daily sliced bread!
So far no more reboots enabling MTP, copying large nandroid backup files via MTP ( > 1.2GB) onto phone works as well as mounting and file operations on usb sticks via USB-OTG. Also the enhanced/fixed permissions handling will hopefully avoid the manual use of restorecon from now on, will observe.
Haven't yet tried backup to/restore from USB-OTG, but will try eventually.
Thank you @katinatez!
Thanks! It's now available officially!

I serm to have a problem with the timezone. I had to set GMT+2 to have the correct time and I am in Italy, so GMT+1. Never had this problem before.

Update the recovery just now, found a bug. Surprised no one called me out on it. Aroma File Manager would not load. Kinda dejavu all over again with my Philz recovery doing the same. Anyways enough jabbering all fixed now.

[GUIDE] Helper zips to switch between OOS 3.0 and OOS 2.2.1 firmware

At the moment we have rather dfficult situation because custom ROMs based on AOSP (such as my AD which is not yet public) require previous OOS LP firmware, while OOS 3.0 includes new MM firmware which breaks both older recoveries and custom ROMs.
As I need to switch between OOS 3.0 and my AD quite frequently, I created two helpful flashable zips so I can do that easily, and because it's useful for me, perhaps it'll be useful for you too.
Download: MM | LP
Instructions:
- Download the firmware you want (or both, if you want easy switching)
- Unpack downloaded zip, you'll find firmware-update.zip and recovery.img inside
- Put both of those files on your phone, in appropriately named directory such as "firmware-LP" or "firmware-MM"
- When you will need to do a switch, simply firstly flash firmware-update.zip, then flash recovery.img as recovery image via "flash image" option in TWRP
- Reboot to load new firmware
That's it, this way you firstly flash chosen firmware version, and then TWRP recovery that works with it.
So if you have two TWRP backups - one of OOS 3.0 and one of CM13.0, make sure that you have proper firmware (and recovery) after restoring backup - LP for CM13.0, and MM for OOS 3.0.
Situation should soon improve (when OnePlus pushes kernel sources, and MM-based ROMs will rebase), but until then it's wise to keep both of those firmware + recovery combos on your sd card, so you can do a switch without any problem on as-needed basis.
Hope it helps. Try to be careful with those, if you mix up wrong recovery with wrong firmware you'll need to flash proper recovery.img variant via fastboot. You can't hard brick anything by using those files, in worst case soft-brick if both your recovery and your ROM will be for wrong firmware you have.
Have fun.

Xiaomi 12X custom rom requested

Hi everyone, I've been trying to find a custom rom for Xiaomi Mi 12X, but none found so far. I tried to port Pixel Experience rom using the Xiaomi Mi 11X (alioth) device tree and changed accordingly, since the SOC and almost all specs are the same except Camera. Can anybody shed some light in how to correctly port the ROM for my devices without official device tree from LineageOS or Pixel Experience? Thank you.

No, I used the same procedure as described for Alioth device, fastboot flash boot boot.img, then from recovery use adb push to update the zip ROM file.

But how did you built the rom. Did you get out a flashing zip directly? Normally, you create different partitions as fas as I know... Would you share your rom? Btw. which one did you build?

Yes, after building I got a zip and flashing it using update by adb push. I built Pixel Experience Android 11

But you used the lineage device tree. And PE is aosp not lineage. Might that be the problem? Would you try to build crdroid? Or instruct me how to setup a build environment?
No, I used the PE device tree, not Lineage. I used the build instructions provided by Pixel Experience for Alioth.

Yesterday xiaomi released kernel for 12x on GitHub. So I think now you can build pe/los without troubles

Didn't they release the kernel when the phone was released?

Did you replaced vendor libs with libs from 12x and other stuff like fstab, bins, rc files..configs? Attach logs from boot if you decide to build again. My advice is to build as eng and disable encryption, put selinux to minimal mode, nuke livedisplay, import vendor modules if you build with stock prebuilt kernel. Always look for F Linker errors in log and resolve them.
I'm waiting for AOSP rom too.
