S3 stuck at launcher after freezing apps in TitaniumBackup - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there,
I was just reflashing a new rom. After restoring all my apps I tried to freeze some systems apps (touchwiz start / internet etc).
Now novalauncher doesnt react anymore. That means, when rebooting my phone, all I got is a black screen. So I cant even unfreeze anymore.
What to do?
The only thing I could think of was: Reflash the rom again and do it all again.
Okay, but the problem is: How to get into recovery mode? I only have a black screen, nothing else...
That means, I need to pull the battery. But when putting the battery back in and quickly holding vol-up+home+power, the Rom just boots as usually into the system and not into the recovery... because: After putting the battery in, the system does a normal boot and doesnt react upon pressed keys.
How to get into recovery now?
Thanks
Edit: Omg after trying it like ten times to hold down vol-up+home+power and AFTER this putting the battery in, I managed to get into recovery.
But is there any simpler option instead of re-flashing the whole system?

Flash another recovery with Odin this should get you access to recovery.. Then flash your custom rom without a factory reset then wipe cache, advanced dalvik reboot this will overwrite the system apps that were frozen and you won't lose any data
Edit
Just seen that you got into recovery flash your rom again as instructed above

And make first a nandroid before you do anything with the system.

[Q] Help with recovery on Optimus One P500?

Ok, So I've recently updated to stock gingerbread 2.3.3 with baseband .35. I rooted my phone with the SuperOneClick method. Root was successful (Finally).
I then wanted to install a custom ROM, so I installed ClockworkMod's ROM manager, flashed the clockwork recovery image and everything. I decided to make a backup image in case I didn't like the new ROM. I then selected the "Backup Current ROM" option, and left my phone to it's own devices. When I got back about 5 minutes later, I find that I have a hard reset on my hands :| To add to that, I don't even have a backup image!
I tried doing that a couple times more, once, I even held the POWER+VOL.DOWN+HOME combo and all. The same thing happened each time. The recovery backdrop and a sliding progress appeared, after about 4 seconds, the progress bar stopped moving, it shifted back to the LG boot logo. If I kept the combo pressed, it would go on and on for about 5 times, if I released it, it would just continue on to the boot and I would get another hard reset every time. I tried "Reboot into Recovery". Same thing. Once, I selected "Install ROM from SD card", with the backup option selected. Somehow or the other, due to the combo or something, I came to a screen that had four options.
1) Reboot
2) Install from SD card:update.zip
3) Wipe data
4) Wipe dalvik cache and cache
I was able to scroll up and down with the volume rocker, but the only other button that worked was the Home button, which toggled between the screen I mentioned above and a screen where all of the text was removed and there was just the recovery background. I finally popped out the battery and booted, and got yet ANOTHER hard reset.
HELP!
It seems Clockworkmod recovery was not flashed correctly. What you see is the stock android recovery. The recovery key mapping is:
volume rocker-up/down
menu (left most button)- select current option
back - go back
the behaviour you see when pressing the home button is normal.
After using Rom manager to install CWM recovery, it is not recommended to do further operations through rom manager, best uninstall it. Instead, boot into recovery using the three button combo and do operations from there.
I would suggest try again to re-flash CWM recovery.

Thanks, but do you have any idea WHY using ROM manager is a bad idea? Just curious.

Well, one reason I've encountered is that while flashing cwm recovery, if the download fails for some reason, Rom mananger has flashed the incorrectly downloaded file without verification resulting in a fastboot semi-brick for many users.
Another reason is related to the way it operates the recovery. I'm not very sure about this point, but I've seen many people having problems with backups and flashing.
Thanks, you were brilliant. I flashed another recovery from ClockworkMod, this time with a WiFi connection, and everything worked great.

HELP, my S3 keeps rebooting after startup, cant wipe data/factory reset from CWM also

Hi,
Please give me some help guys,
After installing an app from a torrent (dont know if its related but it happened after installing and opening it) my phone keeps restarting every time, it boots up normally but after just about 5 seconds in the home screen it reboots again. I need to pull out battery to get it stop rebooting.
I've entered in CWM, but cant wipe data/factory reset, when I choose that option it appears "wipping /data" and it just reboots again. I cant also format /data from advanced options. Also, when /data is mounted I cant unmount it also from advanced options. Can wipe cache and dalvik cache but not data. Cant use the phone!
I have Omega v36 with superSU and CWM touch in it. How can I solve this?
Happened to me once also. Idk which app you installed but I had installed privacy guard and it resulted in a boot loop. The 5 seconds it gives you at start, try to go in settings then applications and uninstall the app which caused this. Took 15 minutes of me trying and I lucked out and uninstalled it. Phone been fine after that

I've tried, but as soon as I hit the "unninstall" the phone reboots. I guess trying to interact with something in /data makes it reboot.
App + torrent = probable malware .
Flash stock rom via Odin is the first step .

flash latest i9300 stock rom via odin and after f-reset.find rom here
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3
Try safe mode.
Safe mode will boot only stock apps, apps which were installed by ROM.

Well, things have gone worst, i've entered in safe mode and choose factory reset from settings, now the phone keeps rebooting, show the green robot of factory reset for 2 seconds and then reboots again. Now cant even get in the samsung logo neither in recovery or download mode.
Now, is there a solution for this? Have removed the battery for about 5 minuts but it stays the same.

[Q] Rom Toolbox failure after root

Hey everyone. Sorry if this is redundant, but I have to ask. I rooted my device perfectly, setup all my apps and homescreen. Last app installed was Rom Toolbox PRO. After installing, I open it. It immediately freezes device and reboots. I can't get past Samsung boot logo. Tried volume down and power and get into download mode perfectly. Then I try volume up, and power to get to recovery to wipe cache, but it will not boot into recovery. Always goes back to Samsung boot screen. All I want to do is get my device booted and remove Rom Toolbox so I can be back to normal. Any ideas? I'm away from my computer due to being out of town. I just want it to work again!

I'm not 100% certain why this would happen, but if you made a NAND backup after you rooted you can restore to that. Otherwise do a factory wipe and restart from scratch. You can also try to wipe the apk for ROM ToolBox from your system if you are running on a recovery that allows you explore your app directory.

[Q] Can't access recovery nor reset to factory settings on rooted device

Hello,
I own an Android tablet KO PARA1 FULL and experiencing a strange problem. This is a chinese atm7029 quadcore tablet (16gb, 1gb ram, without bluetooth, only wifi, bu supports 3g dongle), running android 4.1.1 nad 3.4.0+ kernel, which came prerooted. After some time I've decided to install backup programs on in to make a full backup of the device for the case something would go wrong, and after some trying I descovered, that there is something like recovery for that purposes which seemed a good solution for me. I decided to install CWM, which I managed to install without problems and made some backups on my device. Everything was fine, I did some factory resets through the time, some restoring processes from my previously backup states of the device, was always able to activate CWM recovery menu through Reboot to recovery or through combination of Volume down a Power button...
Until last saturday. I was normaly surfing the internet, reading mails and afterwords I powered my tablet off (it is draining battery in sleep mode, but its another story..). After a while wanted again to write a mail, so I powered it on. In that momet seemed the screen too dirty for me and I tried to cleen it little bit throug the bootup process. Unfortunately I obvious confused the system with it and after boot it was not responding properly. I did not wait enough and after a while powered it off with power key pressed for a long time, to make a new boot.
But when I powered it on again, it stayed stuck in boot logo and did not boot at all. I've tried a copple of times to boot it again with no cuccess, stayed stuck in boot logo for more then 10 min...
Afterwards I decided to make it boot up with the help of computer. I downloaded adb and drivers and somehow managed to make it boot up. I thing I was too excited to see it boot up again, that during boot up process I desconected my device from computer...
My worries were reliesed and I thought it would be a good idea to make a restore from backup to prevent some strange behaviour, so wanted to boot into recovery, but nothing had happened. After some repeated clicks on Boot into recovery button, as well as app called rebooter with nothing happening, I decided to try it out through button combination. It has not worked as well Next try was to reset to factory settings. But when I go through the menu, I can click on reset to factory settings button, seeing warning that I will lost ma data, then I can push the button to make it happen, but nothing is happening. I see only the screen with the button, can touch it 100 times and the tablet stays on, fully funcional. making no factory reset as it done before.
I did a lot of reading and searching, but have not find answer for my problem. I flashed recovery images from my backups (using flashify, flash gordon, adb shell, terminal emulator), from all previously functional states of the device. I refleshed the CWM recovery downloaded from the internet for my chipset, which previously did the job just perfect, with no success...
I am still not able to reach recovery menu. For me it seems like the bootloader would be locked, but I did not find the answer how to unlock it without to be able to start in some recovery state to use fastboot command to unlock it.
Otherwise, my device is functional, still rooted, i can use it without any other problems. But not be able to do recovery from my backups, even do a factory reset.
How can I restore my access to recovery mode? Is it somehow possible?
Hopfully it is not too much information (tryied to follow the intructions and wrote everything I thought would be important to know about) and you will not be bothered to read all my story and pull me out of my darkness with helpfull suggestion.
Thanks a lot in advance
Steve

[Q] Stuck at Samsung splash screen - Need to backup data

The phone was working fine until the battery was empty. I tried to charge it and turn it on, but it's stuck at the Samsung logo splash screen. Holding the power button only restarts the device, so to turn it off I'll have to take the battery out. I don't know how to fix this, and if a factory reset is the only option, I need to backup my data first which I currently don't know how to either (without accessing the OS).
I've got to the Android System Recovery 3e menu and tried clearing cache, which did not help. The option to do a factory reset is also there, but I need to backup my data first, and I don't even know if this will fix the problem.
I'm also able to enter download mode.
When connected to my PC it detects an unknown device named 'samsung_android", and it shows up in adb. I've tried doing a backup through adb, but it wanted me to unlock the screen to accept the backup, which I could not, because I'm stuck at the splash screen.
Is there anything I can do to save my data? Anything through adb? Install root (never done this before)?

Hey mate, can you get into the recovery mode? Try flashing the TWRP recovery and boot by pressing power button + home button + volume up and find an option to mount your USB storage via USB cable and see if your phone's folder tree is available from the Windows Explorer and hopefully you can backup your data by then. Just make sure you have all the drivers ready.
Hope that helps.

Yeah, I can get into recovery mode. But how do I get the TWRP to my phone? Do I have to put it on my external memory card and then load it from there?
And I could only find it for a S2 Exhilarate SGH-i577 device. Does it matter if my phone is a S2 GT-I9100?
I've never rooted my phone earlier. Is a root necessary to flash a ROM?

Correct. Put the TWRP zip on your external and flash it normally via recovery mode such as CWM not the android 3e recovery. Or find an odin flashable zip for yoyr device.
I am very sure there is one for I9100 because I ran into the exact same problem before and managed to figure it out. You just have to search for it can't give you a link because I'm on mobile now.
You need to root your phone in order to install a new recovery such as TWRP/CWM or even flash new kernel and ROM.
Good luck.
