[Q] Root for Padfone X - Asus Padfone X and S

So i'm looking around for rooting the Padfone X and I'm not really finding anything here on XDA. This is typically a nooby question to ask here but I read over in Adam's thread that they got towelroot v1 to work but that doesn't seem to work for me. I have the AT&T variant, not sure if there is any other variants. I don't see in the development forum about a positive root method either. Any suggestions or a place for me to look that I haven't? Thanks.

It worked on my AT&T version

What exactly did you do to root it?

Figured out my problem. I thought I had v1 and I actually had the latest v3. I'll attach v1 here in case anybody wants it, it worked to root my device.

[Q] Any stock android ROMs?

So I just bought a Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi. This is my first Samsung device as I have been using my Xperia PLAY for over a year now and do have that all modded, rommed out etc. That being said I realize that Sammy's products are a different beast in comparison to Sony Ericcson's for rooting/modding. I would like to know if:
1. Theres a stock ROM (ICS/JB) available. Non-Samsung based other then Cyanogenmod. Basically a pure Google based ROM.
2. A good guide I can read up on how to root this thing and put a custom recovery on it.
Also, I read after I bought it thats its only got 16gb of memory and NO SD slot...... is this true? Not a deal breaker more of a curiosity question. Got mine today for $180 factory refurbished from dailysteals.com
I appreciate any feedback, directions.

You just bought a new one and want to install a different rom? Why don't you use the standard one for a few weeks and try to find out what you miss in the original rom. Then read a lot in this forum and make up your mind which rom you like and why you want to change it?
I don't understand the rush you have. Take your time.
I will get my tablet tomorrow (Sony Xperia Tablet Z WiFi only 16GB & Sony SGP-CV5) i bought this new set in Germany for 319 euro !
I will not install a new rom in the comming months. I did not do that wih my Xperia Z phone either.
but on the other hand it is your tablet and you can do what ever you want it.
Thanks for the reply. Will it work on the phone as well. Using this method?

I've rooted my tablet using the 1 click root method as well but the SU binaries fail to update after installing SuperUser, anyone know why?
All the apps that require root don't have any problems but I'm still wondering why the binaries fail to update...

[Q] Help Rogers SGH-i717R Can't find a working rooting + recovery and rom flash guide

I hope this question is not a stupid one...
I want to say that I tried searching and all guides come either outdated with broken links or just designed for a different model.
I have a Galaxy Note SGH-i717R which is a canadian version. I cannot find a current working rooting method that will guide me through installing a CWM or TWRP recovery plus let me flash CM or any other KitKat based ROM.
I have downloaded:
CWM-TOUCH-i717-6043.zip but I know I can't install it until I root. But all rooting guides are outdated and do not work.
I have a good idea on how to root and install custom roms, I've done it on various phones including on my Nexus 5 and 7.
Can anyone give me a link or a quick breakdown of what I need?
I can't stress enough that this is a SGH-i717R not SGH-i717, i have a Canadian Version.
Thanks in advance!

With all the different variants of this device, no two are as similar. There have been many to flash the US version to Canadian model. I see no harm, but it is your device. Have you read the Super Everything thread?

Kingoapp.com. The i717 is not on the device list but it works....I have used it many times when I have screwed up my phone testing and had to go back to stock. What os are you on now. ICS or Gingerbread?

I think i've read that thread too and i think most of it did not apply to the R version of thsi phone. Also someone was mentioning that the phone since it is a canadian variant..will reload the stock ROM back on under reboot. Is this true?

Its running 4.1.2
And its not i717 but i717R.... something about the Canadian R variant make its almost impossible to flash with AT&T versions of the ROMs. OR I am not reading the threads correctly.

It's been so long since ICS, I'm not sure if you have to flash JB before going to KK or not. Look for any thread with JamieD81 on it. He's from Canada so his should work.

Its not really a big deal weather i get CM on this phone or not, but since I have it as a spare phone next to my Nexus 5, I really want something more modern running on it.
Again, thanks for help.

Sorry, late to the party. I have a Telus phone and the only method that worked for me (nearly 2 years ago) was the one in the link that follows.

Android 7.0 for Padfone X?

Hi, complete noob here. After hearing that Google are not going to release drivers for the Snapdragon 800 series, (or I might be wrong) I was really demotivated but I've found this and was wondering if any of you guys know is this trust worthy or not. Thanks.
http://rom-nougat.org/download-rom-asus-padfone-x
is it suitable for Padfone S T00N?
Has anyone verify the authenticity of this download? Does it work?
