ART Enabled in Grand 2 by default after 4.4.2 update - Galaxy Grand 2 General

I hope the ART is activated by default in Grand 2 after 4.4.2 update. Thats why, all apps are opening instantly after the touch and it will take time to load the contents in it.
Since the same behavior, i have already seen in my old Xperia Ray with 4.4.2 (ART Enabled).
These samsung people have enabled this one and hiding that particular option from Development Options. What a Game!!!

Why is TouchWiz on Acer and not Tab 10.1?

Can somebody explain how the Acer A500 has a TouchWiz UX rom and we don't?
Am I missing something? How can I install TouchWiz on my tab now...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143368
I assume that it was hacked over from the 10.1v, the same way people sometimes do for Sense on non-HTC phones.
I'd just wait for the official Touchwiz update, personally. Hacking in these frameworks on foreign devices can be take a lot of time to get stable and full-featured and by that time Sammy will have probably already released their Touchwiz update.

Oh.. I didn't know the 10.1v had TouchWiz UX
It didn't come from the 10.1v - it ships by default with a very vanilla HC 3.0.1
The new HC 3.1 rom from seo comes with TouchWiz. It's a little sluggish in places - esp using the Samsung Keyboard (although the incl. Swype keyboard doesn't suffer from any issues).
The taskbar at the bottom is a little too sensitive - you find yourself touching the screenshot icon by mistake when in landscape & holding the tab at the bottom.
Notification icons - either on the taskbar or from the popup settings panel don't always launch the assoc app (like gmail) - it's a little sensitive about where you tap.
Seo implemented some fixes in the kernel which fix USB charging when plugged into the PC.
Kernel devs should follow his 7100 github repo (https://github.com/stefansaraev/gtab-p7100-3.1-kernel) for details of the fix.

The rom on the A500 has this "Based on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7500) P7500XXKF8_OXAKF8_XXKF8 ROM (Honeycomb 3.1)" ...
Which means there is a 3.1 TouchWiz rom for our 10.1 Tabs somewhere that we 10.1 owners don't have access to....?
*Edit*
Just found that there is a 3.1 TouchWiz released for the 10.1v here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155023
The 10.1v models are P7100, the 10.1 range are the P75x0.
Apart from a few minor updates - I don't think any tabs, apart from the GoogleIO 10.1 tablets, have received proper HC updates yet.
But this is one of the reasons XDA exists isn't it? To pull together all the fragments from the myriad of builds & updates into something cohesive - fixing all the bugs introduced by the hardware vendors & network operators.

I thought it was...
7 inch is GT-P1000
10.1 is GT-P7510
10.1v is GT-P7100
10.1 is 7500 & 7510 - depending on 3g & I wasn't including the 7" devices

Oh okay.. Your first post you said our 10.1 is p71x0 instead of p75x0 which got me confused
ah - ta! It's late and I'm working through until morning on a last min demo app for a client.
I thought it was ironic that another tab got touchwiz before us. Even if it was hacked over, lol.

[Q] Phone vs Phablet vs Tablet layout

Hello,
Recently I bought Xperia Z Ultra to carry one device instead of two (Nexus 7 and Samsung S III Mini). Unfortunately I didn't know about different layouts and I didn't check before in which mode Z Ultra works. I though that application check resolution and shows its best. Now I know that it works in phone layout. I read also that after rooting I can switch to tablet layout. So my questions are:
1. Is it make a sense to root my Xperia and switch layout? If yes should I choose tablet or phablet layout? Is there any phablet layout for Z Ultra?
2. What's the difference between Phone, phablet and Tablet layout?
3. How many applications are written in double (triple) layouts?
4. Is it any difference in these layout for e.g. Angry Birds (all games), Amazon Kindle, Chrome, Flipboard, Google Maps, Pocket? Could anyone send me some pictures if there are differences? (I already sold Nexus 7 so I can't compare)
best regards,
1. If you want to, sure. It's nice to have tablet layout.
2. You already know how the phone layout looks like. It's dense so the UI elements fit properly on small screens. Phablet layout is what you see on the Nexus 7 and newer tablets that run KitKat. Google removed the tablet system UI layout in KitKat, but apps still run like they've always done. So there are two official layouts. Phone (Nexus 5) and "Phablet" (Nexus 7). The Z Ultra actually runs a strange mix of that. Pocket runs in tablet mode out of the box on the Ultra.
3. I don't know what this means.
4. Games won't have a different layout. Chrome, Flipboard, Maps and Pocket will. Note that it's the devs responsibility to support tablet layout, so don't really expect every app out there to support it.
I could take some screenshots of some apps in tablet mode, but I'm currently running the GPe ROM (KitKat) and I'm running it at 400 DPI, i.e phone UI.

Thank you for so good answer. Thanks
Unfortunately, Kikat does not support layouts anymore. Even if you lower the density to 100 it does not switch to tablet layout like it used to.

Correct, but you will at one point get the "phablet" statusbar (split notification/quick settings) and the split Settings and other minor changes when you lower the DPI to a certain point (192 I think, but I don't really remember). But yeah, the old tablet UI is gone in KitKat.
Note that the 192 DPI detail above is something that I have only tested on AOSP ROMs and not on Sony ROMs, so I don't know if or how a stock ROM will react to a change like this.

possible?

hi
as security for the lockscreen i have set a pin. with a pin you cannot set these quick accessible icons on the lockscreen that is in my case on jelly bean.
phone is rooted and running the Android Revolution HD 51.0 rom.
is it possible without an additional launcher to get around this issue. maybe with a xposed module? been looking forever. it would be handy to access apps asap like trapster or cam for example.

As Far as i Know for PIN/Pass protected phones there is mod availabe but it enables you to access only the camera and click pics without unlocking.
Most AOSP roms have it

Themes for note 4 non rooted

Is it possible to change the theme to dark. It's really annoying than Samsung didn't allow note 4 users this is a software only. IPhone would have... Samsung must really start to improve update policy.
You should probably tell that to Sammy.
Or buy an iPhone, since you can customize it so much #NOT

What the... does the iPhone has to do with a dark theme? As far as I know, there's no option to change iOS's UI to black, (you can enable negative colors, same as with your Note 4). Not even Google allowed to switch to a dark theme, this option was introduced in Android 6.0 released less than one week ago.. So you may want:
1) Wait until Android 6.0 gets released by Samsung
2) Root your phone, install a Note 5 rom and use the Themes App.
3) Root your phone, install Xposed, and install Holo Themer module, then you can set any app you want to dark mode.
Cheers!
To clarify my reference to the iphone ? I believe any software improvements or enhancements subject to hardware capability are automatically given to older models… I think Samsung should have given us or at least offered it to us for a small fee. Can't root yet as still under warrenty. But thanks

[Q] Cannot access System UI Tuner

Hello everyone,
device: samsung s4 mini i9195, rooted, cm 13 (marshmallow), with nicholas dark material theme and whicons icon pack (if it matters).
i've tried to enable battery percentage, meaning dev options and system ui tuner. dev options, no problem. ui tuner, no way.
yes, i've read 20 guides and watched a lot of yt videos where people do it with such ease. it just doesn't work for me. the gear spinns (i guess you know what im talking about), but i get no notification that it enabled ui tuner.
please help. none of the apps with battery percentage that i've tried worked with MM, besides, there are plenty of other options from the ui tuner that i'd like to use.
thank you! :highfive:
