Well.. That sucks.. I had one on order and I was holding out on buying a case for mine

Even though I LOVED Qi charging on my previous Lumia 920 for its convenience I really don't think it is a big loss for the Z2...
Until we see a very dominant wireless charging standard that is built into nearly everything that can be (easily) found in the wild it doesn't matter too much to me what I use as long as it is convenient for me to use at home, work and in my car and not too expensive to get setup with. I got a Sony dock with my phone that sits on my desk at work and a couple off-brand ones for my car dash and my desk at home and all were cheap and trouble-free so far.
My only annoyance now is that my wife still has a Lumia 920 and uses our old Qi pads while I either plug-in or use a mag dock so we can't share all the wireless chargers anymore but it really isn't a big deal.
Also I really don't like 'flap' cases like this anyhow.1816

Best Car Adapter?

Which Car Adapter do you recommend guys for the Hero?
Ive seen these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WINDSCREEN-MO...ries_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item23038de0be
This looks a bit cheap
What about this one, looks half decent:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIO-PREMIUM-C...ries_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item23049b1982
Any other suggestions peeps?
I use a Brodit active mount. Looks good but is not cheap (about £30 ish in UK). But then I just slide the phone in and charging starts as soon as i switch on the ignition. I have used Brodits for my last 3 phones and all have worked well.
Cool you got a link for it, found it about £34.99 anywhere recommended?
Thanks dude
Got mine from prepaymania - it was £27.04 including delivery. Now it is £28.22.
They were fine, but got let down by the lying toads in the Royal Mail who insisted they had tried to deliver but I was out. The note saying that got delivered the next day by the postman! So had to collect it from my Royal Mail depot. But NOT Prepaymania's fault.
BTW I have mine hard wired in via a ciggy lighter behind the dash. Don't try wiring it in direct or you will fry your Hero because the ciggy lighter adaptor houses a voltage reducer. No wires show and I mount it using a car specific Brodit car mount as well.
Cheers dude. I don't want tyo drill in to the dahs, do they have a sticky thing that has to go on the dash as well? Or is there another way of doing it.
appreciate the link
Look at Brodit's site here. Click on "choose the mount for your vehicle" and put in the details. They do fittings for almost every car going and none of them involve any drilling.
You then need to find somebody who stocks them. Normally easy (prepaymania may) for more common cars. May have to wait a bit longer for unusual ones
Make sure you order one for RHD cars if in the UK!
I order the one on ebay but It broken after couple of twists. After a good glue it works perfectly!
I do not know if it affects th G2 battery life a lot but i use one of my blackberry phone chargers i think it's the one for the bold 9000
so far i didn't notice much change in battery life plus it chargers more than 70~90% of battery life in about 30-50 minutes.
just to add to my previous post. I have a silicon case on my Hero and that won't fit on standard car holder. My trick is to light it up so it warm up and expand it a bit and it fit perfectly!!
Ive bought one off ebay now, a herbert reicher one! I think thats what it is called!
Will see how i get on with it!

Avoid londonmagicstore on eBay.
I bought one of these holders and they sent me one that was meant to be a for a Nokia N97 and then insisted it would fit the Hero too despite the size difference. My N96 I had at the time fit so an N97 or Hero would just fall straight out lol. Sent back and got a refund luckily.
If anyone could recommend a car holder that would be suitable for running the Hero in landscape mode I would be grateful, the Brodit and Herbert Richter ones don't look to be secure enough.
I'm looking at one on Mobilefun that seems to be the correct version of the one from Funkyfin's eBay link.
A few days ago I bought an HTC car kit. Unfortunately as a new user here, I'm not yet allowed to post external links but the name of the kit is "CU-S210". Just google it and you should get a lot of results.
It says HTC on the box but if you look closely, it seems HTC buys from Herbert Richter (the flexible mount is labeled "HR" and on the cradle, there's a "made in germany" and I assume, it is HR as well since it looks exactly like the HR ones).
My opinion: I haven't gotten round to testing it on long trips but so far it works quite well. The phone is easy to get in and out but it still feels safely in place, even in landscape mode.
Well, if you drive a landrover through the rocky wilderness on a daily basis, I assume it wouldn't hold forever (however, then you probably wouldn't use a phone for navigation anyway ^^ ) but for regular street use I see no problems with landscape mode.
My brodit holder for the Hero works fine in landscape mode - in fact that is how I use it most of the time with my sat nav app. It has a ball mount so swivels easily and holds the Hero very securely

Found this today while looking for a new car stereo, all I can say is WOW!
It's purpose built to be used with the Xperia phones - acts as a phone dock and charges through the charging strip. I've seen pricing is going to be $250 and it'll be released in May, hopefully it's available in the UK at a reasonable price.
Not sure if this youtube link will show up correctly.

Just checked the specs and it seems that this is compatible with over 15 xperia devices so it would be safe to assume it would be compatible with the z2. I think the thing that let's it down is that it does not come with any form of charging capability though

Well, my Samsung Note 3 dock is the same way. It doesn't have a built in charger like the Galaxy S2 dock used to. So I have to plug in a micro-usb car charger separately. I got a magnetic car charger from Amazon, so I'll probably end up doing something similar for the Z2.
I may go ahead and order the Sony one; speaking of which, I received the dk36 magnetic charger today as well.
And I think that is the direction I'll go. Official dock + magnetic charger. Currently have the official HTC one x dock and the quality of that is significantly better than any other 3rd party cheap dock I have tried before. Hoping Sony dock is good quality
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk
That car dock looks pretty much the same as many if the universal docks.
I think I may just have Fab my own since it doesn't look like they ever offer a proper model specific dock for Sony phones. I can easily modify a cheap hard case with a magnetic charger attached to it for more functional and easy to use dock.
This is one thing I'll miss about Motorola(assuming they've continued doing it), they offer cheap model specific docks that use the same ball mount as Garmin so you options on how you mount it in your car.
I got my magnetic dock the other day, it's smaller than I thought it would be. I was hoping I could put a NFC tag on top of it to trigger some tasker tasks but I don't think it will be close enough to the sensor.
Sent from my Venue 8 3830 using Xparent Red Tapatalk 2
It looks to me like that dock is a unit that you mount in-dash. Once you put the phone in the cradle it "becomes" the head unit. One major benefit to having a built in radio tuner in the phone. Seems pretty awesome to me.

I got one from Crutchfield and installed it a couple of days ago - works good so far! I've posted a review on Amazon.
That said, I would probably have chosen a device-specific cradle from Brodit/ProClipUSA if one had been available for the Z2 by now - their Z1 cradles seem nice (and I've had good luck with their previous products for other phones).

4 stars - good enough for me!
Still waiting on the replacement facia as my Mazda 2 won't take a double din (or single din) without it. Really just hoping the cables I've got for the steering controls work as the manufacturer (Connects2) advised. Heard the Axxess ASWC-1 that you have would definitely control all the functions but the Connects2 guy advised theirs also works and I got it at a fraction of the price compared to the ASWC-1 which seems to be a US product.

AirDock?

Kind of curious: has anyone tried the G3 with an AirDock:
http://www.theairdock.com/
Wondering if the curved back presents any problems with adhering to the micro-suction surface of the dock.
I have one and the charging works great. Only issue is that if the pad or surface isn't clean the phone doesn't like to stay put. The surface is some kind of nano technology. In my opinion it needs to be improved and the magnets need to be improved. The curved back does limit the overall contact surface area but I am getting a new SUPCASE and I am hoping that the material will stick better.
I have the AirDock, and it does not work with my cheap, Chinese Qi charging sticker. The very same sticker works on my Tylt Vu, however. I'm curious what Qi receiver you guys are using.
Thanks!
I found a couple of posts here on XDA that indicated the magnets in the Air Dock interfere with the Qi stickers. Air Dock (the company) doesn't recommend the mount for use with the G3.

Though on their website it clearly says supported (with additional hardware.) I assume this to mean with the QuickCircle charging case, which is horrendous and annoying. You are spot-on regarding the magnets. I asked if those can be removed, and support responded that they are necessary to keep the phone from sliding off. I am not convinced that is the case on the G3, because the phone slides off VERY easily without some sort of flat-back.
Sounds like G3 owners should just wait it out...
Me:
Howdy Howdy!
I noticed that the LG G3 is officially 'supported' (with additional hardware,) on your site, and I was curious if any developments have been made? I am still using the cheap Chinese sticker with my Tylt Vu, but of course that doesn't work on my original AirDock. Is there a recommended charging sticker, or do you guys still recommend the Circle case?
In all honesty, it's hard to recommend the naked G3 on the AirDock, because it can barely hold it. I have to clean my foam almost daily for it to stick, because the phone's back is curved. My friends with flat-back phones never seem to ever clean the foam and it works great.
Thank you!
-Steven
AirDock Support:
Hi Steven,
There are a couple things that are going to be better about Version 2.0 and the G3.
The transmitter in V2.0 will work well with that aftermarket receiver sticker. That's the biggest difference. It's an upgraded transmitter from V1.0
We will also be supplying a special version of V2.0 that will be curved to match the back of your G3 so that you can have the same grip strength as your flat backed phone owning friends!
Thanks
Me:
Whoa, that's awesome! I wish there was a trade-in option because I've been pretty bummed about this one, despite getting a few friends to pick one up for their more well-suited phones.
Thank you for the update!
Sounds great, but I already came up with my own solution. I grafted the Qi charger and phone clamp from this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M685JTG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (made by the same company as the Tylt Vu)
With the sticks-anywhere micro suction base of this:
http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Windsh...UTF8&qid=1417825105&sr=8-1&keywords=iottie+xl
My only real complaint is that the Qi emits a shrill beeeeep every time it gets power (i.e., when I turn the car on).
But if the Air Dock 2 described above had been available, I probably would have bought that one. Good news for future buyers.

I have the original airdock and have been using it with my G3 with no problems. I have a thin ringke case and use the airdock sticker and it charges fine. I'm considering getting the LG g3 slim guard case because I don't like having the sticker on my phone. I read someone on here write that the LG g3 slim guard case sticks to the airdock.
What Qi receiver are you using?
I'm using a replacement battery cover with qi sticker that I bought on Amazon. I'm guessing the company puts the sticker on an oem battery cover but it has qi and nfc

Strange, then you are the first with an AirDock to get it working with the Qi sticker. I have followed the threads very closely, and even AirDock says it won't work. Do you have a link to the sticker/cover you bought?
Thanks!
I do... But I don't think I can post it. But if you go to Amazon the seller is 38 Ave. It's an oem battery cover with qi and nfc. I also just ordered the LG g3 slim guard case. I've read it works and sticks to the airdock.
I finally received the original LG g3 slim guard case. It is for the US version. It works great with the airdock. Sticks to it and charges it with no issues.

Regardless of the input to the Qi charger, current Qi coils output at most 1 amp. But to answer your question, no, mine slowly discharges under the conditions you describe. If you're doing that for a long period, unplug the cable from the dock and plug it into your phone.

Dang. That's the entire time I've driving -- always. I should have done more research on Qi before ordering the sticker or any of these chargers. My Tylt has an almost impossible time keeping my phone charged when streaming and keeping the screen on at work. Nothing else going. Just heats up like crazy.

I don't seem to have any issues when I'm not streaming or using GPS. Just keeping the screen on seems to be fine. Make sure you're using a good USB cable. I found a couple of cheap ones I had wouldn't keep the phone charging consistently - it would keep cycling in and out of charge / discharge modes.
This won't help now, but there's a new Qi standard in development that is supposed to provide higher rates of charge. I do wonder how they'll deal with the extra heat, though.

Fast Charge Bundle - Wireless Charging Stand, Battery Pack and Vehicle Charger - $99

If you need a USB C vehicle fast charger, fast charge battery pack and fast wireless charger, this bundle from Verizon is $99 and comes in 3 choices of colors for the fast wireless charging stand:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/samsung-fast-charge-everywhere-bundle-blk/
https://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/samsung-fast-charge-everywhere-bundle-sil/
https://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/samsung-fast-charge-everywhere-bundle-gld/
I bought this and the fast charge battery pack is very nice. It comes with a cable that has a micro USB plug and a USB C adapter that is hooked onto the cable by a loop so you can charge both micro USB and USB C devices. The color reminds me of the orchid gray S8, it's very premium looking and feeling. It has pass through charging too so you can both charge a device and the battery pack at the same time.
The fast wireless charging stand is great, it has a fan in it to help to dissipate heat.
The fast charge USB C vehicle charger has a coiled cable, which I really like for storing in my console, but I wish it came with a USB C to micro USB adapter so that it could be used to charge both types of device. You can buy USB C to micro USB adapters on amazon and ebay.
https://www.amazon.com/TriLink-Adapter-Anti-lost-Keychain-Connector/dp/B01HI5YYN8?th=1
You could similar items on amazon for about $50 for all three. I usually stay away from bundles Verizon sells. Everything is cheaper on amazon.

Not of the same quality/design. The Samsung fast charging wireless charging stand has a fan in it that helps to keep the device cool while fast charging. I haven't seen any of the other brands have something like that.
The fast charging battery pack not only comes with a micro USB cord with a USB C adapter, it has a loop that makes it easy to carry. It is a very premium looking and feeling device. The color also goes well with the orchid gray S8. That may not matter to you, but I like things that look stylish.
The vehicle charger has a coiled cord, which again, is something that may not matter to you. I will only buy vehicle chargers with coiled cords as I find them so much less likely to get tangled up in my console. The only thing I would improve on is to have a USB C (female) to micro USB adapter included so that you could charge both types of devices. You can buy those on amazon or ebay.

Thanks, the first one is not a stand though, I like the stands. The 2nd - 4th are 2 coil stands and if you read in the reviews, the reviewers say they won't charge the Note 5 in portrait position, which is a problem I had with the 3rd party chargers. The Samsung one works with my Note 5 in either portrait or landscape position. That won't matter to you if you don't have a Note 5, but I do and also I will likely be getting the Note 8 so it could be a problem for that device.

And not only can the Samsung battery pack fast charge your phone, it also has fast charge so it fast charges if you use the Samsung adaptive fast charge plug to charge it. And it can do passthrough charging and fast charge your phone while it is fast charging itself.

No, not at all. For Samsung OEM products, the Verizon bundle is better priced than anything you can get on Amazon. The person you were responding to is recommending generic products, some of which may be OK, but they aren't Samsung products and aren't as stylish. I have used plenty of the cheaper products sold by those manufacturers and lots had problems. Plus they are cheap looking. The Samsung products are nicer.
It may not matter to you what a wireless charging stand looks like in your home sitting out on a desk or table, but it matters to me. I have a very nice looking decor and the silver Samsung wireless charging stand looks premium, not like those cheap products you can buy off of Amazon.
This is a great deal for what you get. You can always buy cheaper generic products but you can't find a better deal on the Samsung charging stand and battery pack.

I'll just repeat what I wrote earlier. This is an atrocious price. You can do better for official samsung wireless chargers (2 for the price of less than 1 from verizon):
https://electronics.woot.com/offers/...d_cat_elec_2_2
This is like people who buy stuff from bigbox retail stores like bestbuy. I had to walk a friend who bought $50 HDMI cable from PC Richard and Sons and was told the cable was needed because she had Verizon Fios and that was the only type of HDMI cable that would work with Verizon Fios. When I went back with this friend and asked the in-store "expert" who told her this in the first place, the woman looked at me and said, "oh, you work in computers, don't you?" I just smiled and made her take the cable back and give my friend her $50 + tax back.
The phone carriers sell overpriced accessories because a lot of the people who get their phones think that if they're already in the store, the "official" products must be better. There are a LOT of people who still don't comparison shop on the internet.
What Verizon is doing in this instance is price gouging of people who don't go comparison shopping. It's sad, but I see it all the time.

I'll just repeat what I wrote earlier. This is an atrocious price.

Nope, you are wrong for all of the reasons I said. And you continuing to compare cheap looking generic products just means you don't understand my point. Obviously, having cheap looking generic products isn't an issue for you. Well not everyone feels the same as you. I have a nice home, a nice car and a nice phone. I want nice accessories too.

LOL, yup, and everyone you know KNOWS you have all these things. LOL, the Woot deal is neither cheap nor generic. Those are from Samsung.
It's sad when people think that buying name-brand at full price is the "official" way to go. The rest of us will simply pay less and wonder why you end up in such debt. However, your nice car, your nice home, and nice phone will all make you nicely poor. I prefer to spend my money on real products that aren't sold at full price.

Not at all. I live within my means, I just have a lot of means. I am a very successful person.
You can buy a lot of cheap crap on Amazon, have at it. Life is short, I can afford nice things so I buy them. I still have plenty saved for retirement and I own my on home outright, no mortgage. Car is paid off too.
Regardless of how much money I have, this is a GOOD deal.

I'm sorry, but when you have boast about your "success" to justify spending too much on accessories does not work. Your "good deal" was a bad deal. Bundle deals are scams, much more when you buy at a retail store. No matter how much you make, if your a millionaire, middle class, or minimum wage, when it comes to money, shop smart and do your research.
Maybe it's just my phone, but the 2nd-Gen Samsung Wireless Fast Charger Stands (Last years model, not this years.. I have two different ones) do not properly charge my S8. It just constantly turns on and off every second or two. This happens no matter if the phone is positioned vertically or horizontally. Other wireless chargers that I have (non-samsung) work fine

I have last year's model in black and it works fine to fast charge my S8/S8+. I have this year's in silver and it too works fine to fast charge my S8/S8+. They have a 1 year warranty so I would hit up Samsung to get a replacement if it has been less than 1 year since your date of purchase.

I edited this for ya too.
You know I am sorry, Sorry you got such a bad deal. You can see NO ONE supported you on this "Great Deal" because it was not a deal. It was Verizon selling you over priced accessories to fulfill their accessories quota. A smart consumer would of seen through their commission driven lies and said no.
Oh yeah btw... the Samsung fast charge wireless stand is on sale for $25 LOL

I just unsubscribed to the thread but was notified that you had quoted me. Honestly, if he wants to pay full price for his accessories, it's what the carriers and the manufacturers love. Consumers who don't shop around and pay retail. Makes them really happy. I'll opt to make my wallet happy and the manufacturers/carriers unhappy.

Dude, GET A CLUE. The bundle is NOT full price. I know for some of you math is hard, but damn boy, this is just arithmetic.

Desktop and in car docking

Anyone have any nice finding on desktop and in car docking? Other than a brodit active charging cradle I couldn't find anything similar, would like to find something similar to hold the phone up higher a bit than leave it in the center pocket or have it stuck to the windscreen or air vent. Thanks
no body drive here? that cant be true, maybe you happy with any kind of car holders, I like one tht made to fit, so now I'm making my own, 3D Printed, with cutout for camera button, which isn't really needed
I just use a holder that goes into the CD player since I never use it. You want a stand that also works when it's on your desk? Why?
I don't know about other colour of this phone, but I have the one that's like a mirror and it slides around way to easily and I prefer to it to be on a charging dock, I will be designing a holder to add on to the cradle to hold the charge cable so I don't have to pick up the cable and plug it in anymore, just slot the phone in, I made mine to click on air vent
I have the chrome one as well, and I don't use a case or anything, unfortunately I don't even have a screen protector on it right now either. I use this in the car: Exogear Exomount. This works really well in the car, but obviously it won't work for you on your desk. There are lots of holders like this one though that have grips, my phone never slips out of this one.
That looks nice and neat, but I don't need to buy one now after designing and printing my own, just making a addon to hold the charging cable so when I slot the phone in, the cable plugs in like the brodit active charging cradle but doesn't cost me 65euro plus shipping, more like 2euro and few hours drawing in CAD , I will be designing a desktop one as well that also holds the charge cable, I made one for the z5 and was very handy, this phone is terrible for sliding around but it's a brilliant phone to use even with everything stock, the 3D creator is amazingly good too, all other scanner I tried were awful
P.s. I haven't use any sort of protective cover on my phone's since the z1, don't actually need it, and never even scratch a single screen for years, let's hope it stays this way in saying that, this xz premium has slide off the desk I don't know how many times, at least few times a day, but not a mark on it thank God
