Wireless Charging WITHOUT Circle Case? - G3 Accessories

Hey folks - I was debating if I really wanted the "Extra step" of flipping the phone open to do my stuff, etc blah blah... SO....
I was wondering if they offer battery covers with wireless charging that AREN'T using the Circle Case? There's still a good chance I'll get the circle case anyway, but I wanted to explore my options. A couple Google searches didn't get any luck, hoping the community knows more than I do(highly likely)
Thanks!

The official LG G3 Slim Guard Case supports wireless charging and it replaces the battery back. There is also an option of replacing the antenna in your standard US back with the dual antenna, discussed here:

Antenna sticker for inside battery back:

Korean slim guard case (replaces original back, has korean contacts inside, if you buy this you will need the replacement sticker)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/16135601481...eName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
International (US included) slim guard case with correct contacts, but there is some discussion in the thread about price and currency conversion. This one is shipped from UK

As far as the AT&T variant is concerned, I dont know of any back-only cases that are not the circle case.
Personally I hated the circle case, I had it for less than a day and found it excessively annoying and always in the way to have the flap there.

That's a lot of good information. One thing I want to point out and get your feedback on is that the LG G3 Slim Guard link that you posted above seems to be for Qi charging and not PMA. I looked at that link earlier and followed the link to the eBay listing the guy said he got it from. Apparently, that particular case doesn't match up with my contacts.
HOWEVER, on that note... with the link you sent for antenna's above, does that mean I am free to get almost any case as long as I replace the wireless charging piece in the back with the antenna in that link?
Similar question - can I just replace the antenna in the stock battery cover?

Yes, everything I linked is for Qi charging, I dont know of anything available currently for PMA, but I havent looked.
You can use it on any BACK not case unless the case directly replaces the battery back, because inside the back is where the contacts are located.
And yes, as I mentioned, you can replace the antenna inside your stock battery back, but I dont know of the ramifications of using a qi antenna on the AT&T phone, there has been discussion, but since I dont have an AT&T phone I dont know. It probably wont work.
EDIT:
apologies, I guess I misread that the second post and the first post were both you (same person) I thought it was someone replying to your opening post asking for an AT&T version as well. So my information may not be terribly helpful.

Doing a lot of searching.... how can I differentiate visually between PMA or Qi?
Does PMA have the four contacts grouped in two's and Qi has all four contacts directly side by side? Or can that contact layout be for both?

The ONLY PMA case/antenna is in the Att quick circle case as of now. Your phone has the pins spread apart. The close pin grouping is only for the Korean models I.e. F400S/K/L. If you have the Att model that's the D850.

Here is a seller on eBay that sells the White and Gold battery/back covers with Wireless Qi. http://stores.ebay.com/Cellphone-Parts/_i.html?_nkw=g3 This way you can use whatever case you'd like.
The prices temporarily jump to over $100 when their stock is low. It goes down to a normal price of ~$35 USD or less when it is back in stock.
Reports have been that it works with the Sprint and Verizon models so far. T-Mobile should be fine too. No go on AT&T as they suck and only support the much less popular PMA standard.
My two Shine Gold battery covers should be arriving today for me to test out with my Nokia DT-900 Qi chargers.

Got it - so the pins layout isn't indicative of Qi vs PMA.... that is decided by the internal hardware, which from my knowledge PMA is only AT&T.
So there's no option of perhaps transplanting an antenna from a QuickCircle case into a standard case/cover? I saw talk about it - but don't know if there was any successes.

I can confirm that the cases from the eBay seller "Cellphone-Parts" DO work with the Nokia DT-900 charger. I really dislike the Shine Gold color, but I have a case covering that hideous color up. Too bad a black/titanium color back wasn't available.

[Review] TechMatte Qi Compatible Wireless Receiver
Reposted since the original post disappeared. Moderator (Naddict) said it may have been a system issue last night.
I was asked to review the TechMatte Qi Wireless Receiver. I already had one of the "blue" Qi receivers that I got off of eBay and have been using for close to a week. There is nothing wrong with the "Blue" Receiver, but this was an opportunity to look at a different version of receiver. There are also different versions of Blue receivers which I have not tried as well as other white and black receivers.
This is a review about a specific Sellers product, what they are selling, what it costs, how it compared and installed and my opinion of it.
The package arrived via First Class mail and inside was a small cardboard package.

Inside the package was three items:
The Qi Reciever
A Thank You Card with warranty and return policies on it
Instruction Card
The Reciever
Pics of the Receiver both front and back.
Compared to the "Blue" Version
Note that my "blue" version only has 2 connectors. I've now seen others which have 3. The TechMatte receiver has 3 and they are spaced properly where the "Blue" receiver was a bit too close.
In the picture, the arrow on the "Blue" receiver image shows that I had trimmed the edge of the receiver. I also had removed the blue sticker on the cover side of the receiver in an attempt to make it thinner.
The arrows on the white/black receiver show where the tape that holds the receiver in place is, and the 3 connectors which are used to connect to the phone.
The advantage to have 3 connectors is that it eliminates any guessing which connectors to use.
The "Blue" Receiver installed in the phone
Note that I had removed the blue sticker on the cover side of the receiver to make it "thinner". I had also trimmed it a bit.
The TechMatte Receiver Installed in the phone
The 3 connectors were properly spaced on this receiver unlike the "blue" one that I had been using. The "Blue" had only 2 connectors and they were too closely spaced making the connection iffy.
No trimming or adjustments were needed.
The unit sits very flat, appeared to be wide to me, but when I put the cover on there was no bulge at all.
Images with cover on
Didn't bother with any images since I couldn't even tell there was a receiver in the phone. As a result, using the case I use (Spigen Bounce) there was no issue either.
Performance
This receiver worked the first time I installed it. No re-positioning or re-seating necessary. I have a Nokia DT-900 pad at the house and it links and charges pretty much as soon as you place the phone on the pad even with the Bounce case.
Early in the morning when I tried it, the phone was pretty much already fully charged. It looked like the charge rate was lower than I expected. However later in the morning when I did some real looking and compared between Battery Charger and the Galaxy Battery Charge apps, all I have seen is a solid 640mAh when charging.
While the phone gets warm while charging as expected, it doesn't get overly hot. I will do a real heat test between the two when I get the "Blue" receiver to a co-working. Will use a infrared heat detector to see what the temps are between the two phones in the same configuration. I suspect they will be similar if not the same.
NFC Usage
One issue that came up while testing was whether or not the receiver would effect the usage of the NFC on the phone. I had not used NFC on the phone yet and really didn't have anything to test it with on hand. Will update when I get some tags to test.
**UPDATE**
I received some NFC tags today to test this part that I was originally not able to test. The receiver does make a pretty big difference in how well the phone can see the tags. Without it, they are read very easily and quickly without really having to pay much attention where you are tapping (if you even have to touch). With the receiver, you have to actually touch, and move it around a bit to be seen. If you need to or want to use NFC on a regular basis, you most likely need to look at a different receiver for your note 3.
Specifications:
Size: 0.6mm
Weight: 0.6 oz (17g)
Charging voltage: 5V
Charging current: 600mA
Charging frequency: 100 - 200Khz
Wireless distance: 5mm

Cost/Website etc...
TechMatte did not povide any sales info with the package. But finding where they sell it was easy.
URL: See Update below
**UPDATE** They sent me this URL as the location for purchase since the other one will apparently be discontinued soon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GMRXD9U
Price: $12.99
Shipping: $1.99 (assumed First Class Mail) or expedited for $4.99 (Assumed priority Mail). Note that this shipped from PA and it took only 2 days to get to the house in Arizona via regular First Class Mail. The purchase of 2 or more would qualify for free shipping if you needed more than one.
Looking at the new website link it includes Free Shipping which is assumed to be by First Class mail. This should get to most in the Continental US in 2 days or so.
The unit is shipped from the US, so in many cases it will get delivered much quicker than the same types of units sold on eBay and shipped from China. The unit I got was shipped from PA and got to AZ in 2 days via First Class Mail in a white padded envelope.
Warranty:
30-Day Money Back Guarantee
12 Month Replacement Warranty
They have local support via a website, email and have a link for Amazon reviews to post your review.
Documentation:
A welcome sight.... The package included a Thanks card and an Instruction sheet though that really wasn't needed:
My Impressions
Showed quick shipping (from PA to AZ in 2 days)
Packing was well done and complete
Included documentation
Easy to install, Pin spacing was correct and package is flat.
No perceptible bulge so it works with all cases.
Worked the first time with no adjustments
A bit higher priced than others, but again, quick shipping and local support
Uses an Amazon shopping cart system with reviews.
Performance matched previously used products.
Not Ebay with shipping from China 7-10 day shipping.
No recommended if you need or want to use NFC.
Would most likely look this direction if I needed more of them and would recommend them to others.
As for cost... hmm.. $700 phone, $15 with shipping Qi receiver... patience in shipping time (I want it now mentality) ... fine with me.
But I can get it cheaper in China
Good for you. Seriously, that is not relevant. Most people can't hitch a ride to China to buy products at wholesale.
eBay may be a choice as well, but you most likely are not going to get it in 2 days, and you many times don't know exactly which version they are selling. Do the eBay sellers offer 12 month replacement? Most likely not.
Disclosure
I was asked to review this product. I already had a working solution but agreed to do so. They sent the product free of charge to allow for the review but that had nothing to do with my opinion of what I got, how it was packaged, how it installed for functioned. I am not associated with TechMatte Inc and have no interest in their company. I was certainly not obligated to provide a "good" review.
Good review, I missed the qi charging from my nexus 4, when I got my note 2, now that I have the note 3, looks like a viable option again.

Updated original review with a video of someone else using what appears to be the same receiver. They are showing NFC issues with it on. I still don't have the NFC tags yet so have not been able to test.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfGeL4Gfw-w&t=4m47s
I can confirm that NFC does NOT work with the TechMatte Qi receiver. I also have the white Qi receiver from eBay, and NFC works perfectly with it in my phone. Both Qi receivers add little to no bulge whatsoever, and they both charge my Note 3 at 640mah while sitting on my Nokia DT900. If NFC doesn't matter to you, then I'd recommend the TechMatte Qi receiver. While neither receivers add a bulge to the battery door. The TechMatte Qi receiver is slightly wider, and has an extra coil or just has the coil spread apart wider, which allows you to set the your phone down on to the Qi charger without having to pay attention to be sure that it's charging. The TechMatte Qi receiver charges my Note 3 no matter where I set it on my Qi charger. With the eBay Qi receiver, I have to be more careful with where I set my phone down on to the Qi charger.

Yes it does.
Sorry, thought I said that in my previous post. I edited my previous post to add that it does work just fine.

Thanks for doing this revew krelvinaz, I just ordered one of these based on it being ultra-thin, charges at 640mA and even though it's shown to interfere with NFC, that's irrelevant to me.
You can buy it through their site and pay the shipping, or buy it from Amazon (they're still the seller) and get free shipping (I just ordered it through Amazon for $12.99, no tax and free shipping):
TechMatte Qi Receiver
Update on Their Sales page
TechMatte sent me a new sales link for their product. The one originally in the review is apparently going to be shutdown.
The New Link is on Amazon itself:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GMRXD9U
Price: $12.99
Shipping: FREE
It now shows free shipping as well. Assume the shipping is via First Class mail which is how they sent mine which means most people in the Continental US should get it in about 2-3 days.
Any idea if this receiver will continue to charge the battery, if used with the Samsung S-View case?

I would imagine that the pad would cover the pin area of where the s-view cover pin should be touching, which would defeat the whole purpose of having the S-view case in the first place.
I know you mentioned no bulge, but that's with a case, which will hide any bulge.
How does it look w/o a case?
I have the same blue qi receiver that you have which I got from ebay also but with the 3 prong.

This might actually work. Unlike many of the Qi receiver I've seen, this one has contacts on the outside of the receiver where the contacts are. I think they pass through the contact signals. I would have to put a meter on them to know are not though.
This is the back of the receiver (facing the cover):

Actually what I said was that I couldn't see that there was a receiver in the phone after I put the back on. That is why I didn't post any pictures as you couldn't tell the difference between the before and after picture. They looked the same.
The result was it would also not have any effect of using any case you could normally use.
Awesome review! Thanks...now I have something for my wife to give me for Christmas!
I received some NFC tags in this afternoon and gave them a try.
With the TechMatte Receiver, they do work, but the receiver is causing them to be harder to read.
I removed it to see what it would be like without it completely (never really used NFC tags before) and found they worked a lot better without it.
I have a different Receiver coming in which has NFC built in and will post info on what I find on it. Will be in a different post as it is not related to TechMatte's product.
Just a quick note that I got mine today and installed without a hassle!...I even accidentally left the note running when I putting the receiver on!
I've got the Nokia DT900 charger as well and it works as expected. And according to the charge rate app, it's charging at 640mA as well.
You do have to apply just a tiny bit of extra force to snap the back cover back on around where the receiver is...But it's an absolutely slight amount of pressure and I'd challenge anyone to detect any "bulge" between a note3 with and without this receiver.
I also tried putting a couple of mail catalogs (total thickness of about 1/4inch) between the charger and phone and it still charged...Which is great, it shouldn't be a problem to put just about any case on it and still retain the wireless charging capability.
So I could use this charger with pretty much any case that I want? I totally want to do this since I hate plugging/unplugging wires.
All I would have to do then is find a mat that supports Qi correct?
Yes, just keep in mind this its a slower charge than using the AC charger that comes with the phone. 1800mAh > 640mAh. Shook it its good for keeping you device charged, but won't charge it really fast like the AC one.
I am using two right now (pads) one on my office desk at work, and one by my lazyboy chair in the living room.
When I am sleeping, which may be a series of naps, I use a full AC charger, 1 to make sure when I get up it is fullly charged, 2 I don't play with my phone when I am trying to sleep, so no point using a pad there.

Sounds good. Next week I will be ordering a bunch of accessories for my N900 so that they are at the house when I arrive back stateside and I am looking for the Qi setup.
Are all of these wireless chargers in the 640mAh range? I don't think that it will bother me so much as I am in the same boat as you. I usually have the cord at the side of the bed and would like to have one of these in the family room where I spend most of my time.

LG G3 QuickCircle Case - Just got it

Just got my QuickCircle case and I want to share my thoughts with everyone.
Size: Although the case is suppose to replace the back panel of the phone, the size of this case is a little bigger thicker than the original back plate. Gripping the phone is also a little bit harder and a bit uncomfortable when the flap is opened and flipped to the back while using the phone.
Colour: I got the blue one and it looks very nice with the white version of the phone.
Software: As you've probably read in official reviews of this case, the software experience is limited and are proprietary to LG's selected software. There is a vast selection of watch faces which all looks really nice. The white light that circles around the parameter looks fantastic but i only wished it looped around a few more times before it disappeared. It only did half a loop, from top to bottom either way.
Connectivity: This case comes with NFC and Qi Charging enabled wish to some may be an upgrade as i've heard that the US and Korean variant do not come with Qi charging capability.
Other Thoughts: The flap can unlock and lock the screen automatically if you wish to set it that way. However, i wish there was a magnetic strip that can keep the flap in place even if I were to flip the phone faced down hanging. I'm not a case kinda guy so this is my first time with a case, i only bought it to play with the QuickCircle function. Let's see if this case is good enough for me to keep it on at least for a while.

I'm mainly interested in the QI Charging capabilities of this cover.
If you were to detach the front cover/flap,does it appear that the back portion would look decent & have a tight seal (along the edge of the phone) w/o the front cover?
Just ordered the black one on Ebay.

if you look at the pics you can see that it over laps. it's not the same size as the stock back so I'd imagine removing the flap would make it look strange. a mother option might be to buy one, remove the qi Charing area and put that on a stock back. maybe?

If you were to detach the front cover/flap,does it appear that the back portion would look decent & have a tight seal (along the edge of the phone) w/o the front cover?

That's what I'm considering if an OEM LG QI Cover is nowhere to be found soon after the global launch.

I've been searching for it as well and I haven't had any success. I checked almost every Chinese website that carries phone cases that I could think of. I have a strong feeling that they weren't released yet. I also checked ebay and its various foreign versions.

Different To UK
Just so some know, the wireless capability is already built into the phone in the UK. Means not only is the case cheaper, no added bulk as the case doesn't incorporate anything extra for wireless charging. The back is basically a direct replacement.
Just saw the unboxing and compare of the Korean vs. international version. Looks like the qi charging points are a tad diffrent. really hope the circle case I have bought still works with the US version when released.

That's weird - wouldn't that mean they'd have to produce two different circle caes?
Yea, hoping someone can try the case on both. I could have just been mislead by the video, angles, ect.

See if I can post a quick picture. I guess it is going to depend on which version the US gets.
Here is a picture
Guy in the t-mobile thread who has the t-mobile version verified that his is like the international version (pins with a gap). So guess I am going to have to go through the hassel of returning my case to Korea.
That's very strange as they'd then have to make two different circle cases.

You might want to make sure that last one is official before you drop $69 on it. Looks to me like it says "for Lg G3", the official only says "Lg G3".
Just to give a rundown of what I have found since buying my wife the AT&T LG G3 on Sunday:
AT&T sells a LG quick circle wireless charging (Powermat, not QI) case that replaces the back battery cover for $60, though I only found 1 AT&T store in my area (Birmingham, AL) that had any in stock, and my wife didn't like the color option there.
Verizon and Sprint both sell a LG Quick circle case for $50 that actually just snaps onto the phone, without replacing the back battery cover. It does not include any type of added functionality, aside from the quick circle (ie: wireless charging). I believe verizon offers black and purple, while sprint offers black and gold (at least the stores we looked in, oddly nobody in this area has the phone or any LG brand cases in white, not sure why).
My wife liked the gold color at Sprint, so I bought her that, since she refused to use the phone until we got a cover for it, since her old phone had a crack from one corner diagonally all the way to the other corner.
I know I could order her something cheaper off amazon, but I wanted to get her a case yesterday so she could start using the new phone (mostly so I could start playing with it )
Sadly, with the phone only just now coming out here, the case options in general in retail stores are sadly lacking in qauntity. makes me mad when I walk in best buy and they have multiple aisles of iphone cases, and literally 1 choice for the LG G3 (a plain black hard shell case, don't even remember the manufacturer)
Here are a few Quick Circle cases that I fould while looking around.

Agreed, I bought the offical LG Quick Circle case offered at Sprint stores and found it lacks Qi or NFC, no prongs whatsoever as it attaches over the back cover (i.e., does not replace the back cover). Returned the case to Sprint, drove up the road to a Verizon store and bought their official LG Quick Circle case (the packaging looked identical to Sprint, but had a different SKU), opened it up and it is identical to the Sprint case w/o Qi or NFC. Returned the case to Verizon and am still on the hunt for a back to add Qi to my TMo G3.
By the way, see the sell sheet I located online for the Quick Circle, no model numbers provided, but note the footnotes for distinctions between carrier versions:

So do none of the U.S. variants (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-mobile) come with wireless charging capabilities out of the box, without the purchase of an accessory case?
And is AT&T the only carrier currently selling a case with wireless (even though it's not Qi) charging?
The only thing I am jealous of iphone owners over is the selection of accessories that they can choose from that are actually stocked in stores. I know we can find lots of stuff online, but I would like to see and feel the cases before I buy them. not a ton of selection right now out there in physical stores for this phone, though I guess it has only been out a few days, but still, wish they would have at the very least the official LG accessories in stock the day the phone's are released.

I think I may go with the Sprint or Verizon one in black and just waiting for my local stores to get one in. The faster they do anyways the faster I drop $50 so no hurry.
Wireless charging is really slow is it not? I bought a Nokia Qi for my Nexus 7 and it was ridiculous so I returned it.

Looks to me like there are different types of flip cases that replace the back cover. I wouldn't want a case that didn't support both wireless charging and NFC.
"Genuine LG G3 F400 Quick Circle Case Smartphone Cellphone Wireless charging New" (sorry, still can't post links)
This looks like it's for the international version? (F400), but supports wireless charging and NFC. The rim of the circle also lights up, which is a feature I'd really like to have.
Note the word of caution in the beginning to the arrangement of contacts and different G3 versions.
Has anyone seen a flip case like this that is compatible with the Verizon (VS985) version?

It's a light pattern from the screen, and the cases themselves have a thin, clear plastic ring around the inside of the circle opening that the light from the screen shines through.
At least it is on the quick circle case from Sprint.

I posted this last week in the other quick circle case thread. I got my cover from them for my Verizon G3. Everything working as stated including the wireless charging.
Has anyone received their oem case yet? If so, are you pleased with it? I just ordered the phone today, but I'd like to have some feedback before buying a case. I'm not willing to spend $60 on a case, so I'm hoping the Chinese/Korean cases that are on eBay will work.

LG G3 OEM Slim Guard Case - US COMPATIBLE Qi WIRELESS / NFC - Sprint/Verizon/T-Mobile

Thought that someone here would be interested since this is an AWESOME and very sought after case, and US compatible Qi for the Sprint / T-Mobile / Verizon models D850 D851 D855 VS985 LS990 (As seen in photos) is a sought after feature. This is both combined. It's pricey but I guess fairly priced since separately it would cost more for this setup. The seller also ships 1-3 days from the UNITED STATES!
I have the Slim Guard case and it blows all other cases out of the water. Completely replaces the battery door and adds a bumper with a lip. This is the thinnest, lightest case I think you can buy.
Here is the link:

Oh and the seller also has regular OEM battery doors with built in QI / NFC in Black for the best price I've seen yet

The Slim Guard case has been discussed - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/accessories/lg-g3-oem-slim-guard-case-review-t2819320. The case is Korean model and all the seller did was rip off the NFC sticker and installed the Qi sticker chip in its place.
And the battery door has been discussed in multiple threads on the forums.

Actually, he didn't "rip off the sticker and replace it". It was manufactured like that, you can get them in bulk if you know the right websites.

Because LG doesn't manufacture a Slim Guard case without it. They only make 1 version, and that's the one with the cutout and wrong pins. What these factories in Hong Kong, and China do is order them in bulk and assemble them in their factories.
Think about it. If they did, then you could just go to the Verizon store or BestBuy and get one. They only made the QuickCircle case for US.
Are you the seller? You seem to be sticking up for the seller quite hard. If it's going to be posted/sold, at least post accurate information. That's one thing I don't like is false advertising and deceiving buyers.
If it's been modified, state it. It has the wireless US charging stickers but the case is Korean. This case is not sold in the US. If it was indeed purchased like that, the seller may not have ripped off the sticker but whoever the seller is buying it from did modify it so that it works on US carriers. I know because I installed the Qi chip onto a Slim Guard for a customer and it looks exactly the same thing.
Look at the black sticker. There's a bulge at the bottom. Obviously, someone applied the sticker and did a poor job at it. The same goes for lining up the black sticker near the pin. If you look by the gold pins, there is letterings hidden behind the black heat dispatching sticker.

The same as the Qi sticker chips.
OEM Qi stickers don't have any markings whether its white or black
The wireless charging does NOT work on D850. That is AT&T model. The only thing that would work is the NFC.

Not arguing just pointing out the facts. So what you're saying is what I'm implying...its been modified. Chinese companies buy the case and install the Qi chips.
It's great to see more selections but at least post accurate info. That's my point of the reply
Like I said earlier. The US charging back plates DO NOT EXIST. LG doesn't make them. So OF COURSE they are made in a factory somewhere. Even the non US LG back plates that do come with qi charging are made the SAME EXACT WAY by LG. Someone in a factory putting the stickers on. Think

Rick Smart UI Transparent Flip Case Cover

Hello All,
I have seen lately a 'new' type of case from Rock Smart UI flip cover case for our Note 3.
The case features a transparent front cover with some kind of s-view, judging from the photos.
I made a search and did not see anyone talk about this case specifically for Note 3.
Has anyone purchased this case ? I wanted to have an idea whether the smart UI it is advertising is true or not, and the overall user experience.
Look no further, here follows the link to the product: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rock-Smart-...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item418571721b
Thank you guys for your input.

PS: Please read ROCK Smart UI in thread title
I'm extremely interested in this case and will patiently await first-hand accounts and reviews!

I have purchased the case a couple of days back, and I am waiting delivery. Will take some time (normally at least 2-3 weeks) to be delivered from where I host (Mauritius).
Thought maybe someone else may have been through it and willing to share the experience.
I'm also intrigued and will be purchasing it, since it's pretty inexpensive. This reminds me of a classier HTC M8 Flip cover case.

I dunno, looks pretty gimmicky to me.
I gotta say if there's anyone interested in this but has never used the S-View case.... its more of a burden.
I like my setup of a tempered glass protector with case more than S-View, since S-View makes the experience a whole lot slower and the extra flaps gets in the way and add extra unnecessary bulk to the unit.
But if S-View is a must, check out this guy:

Those look... potentially sweet! I followed a few links from the one posted, and came across this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/301288759905 which I ordered. I decided to go for that one mainly because in the pics in the actual ad (although not in the ones at the top), it appears to have built-in port covers (micro usb 3 & headphone), which is huge and should be included in many more cases. I'm currently using a super cheap, clear TPU case from ebay that I picked up due to it having that same feature. I know from experience how easily the micro usb ports can get f-ed up (not to mention the cables, my entire fairly large collection of genuine OEM cables is completely useless; I had never seen the correct voltage on my Note 8 until a started using one of the two "premium" cables that I ordered from monoprice for less than $10).
Anyways, I primarily use wireless charging with my N3, but sometimes juice up very quickly via (non OEM) micro usb 3 cable during the day. In my situation, using a case with built in port covers (vs. highly lose-able unattached micro usb 2 port covers, which are pretty much the only alternative available and inferior across the board) works extremely well for my use-case. I like to keep the port covered / protected since I don't need it for wifi charging and I don't want to end up with some problem with the port so that I can't mount it in ODIN for ex., but it's not at all inconvenient for charging via cable. Just flip the cover back (which involves sort of detaching it, because the cover part of the small flap that covers the port does insert into the port which means that it is actually a legit protective port cover, and actually superior to the built-in cover on the S5 which afaik just covers the port rather than inserting into the port at all, and breaks of pretty easily rendering to completely useless. Before finding this particular tpu skin, which I sometimes attach into a wallet case via velcro (usually whenever I go out so that I have my essential cards and phone without making sure that I had put multiple different items in my pocket... I'd order 25 packs of the micro usb 2 covers, eventually lose every one of them and order a new pack. Using this case instead has been infinitely more convenient.
Back to your regularly-scheduled topic following that advertisement from the "Cases with attached port covers are crazy useful, and it seems weird that none of the bigger case companies include that super cheap / easy mod as pretty much standard", which exists for real, but consists of only one vocal member... Has anyone who ordered one of these received it yet? If so. thoughts? Also, all cases like this need an app to work, yes? Has anyone checked that out? Any negative impact (re: battery, etc.)? Oh yeah, regarding my assumption that this one does have port covers, which, ya know, I think has some sort of value, possibly is really only based on the pics inside the sellers ad. They also list it being "dustproof" but don't specifically mention the port covers and also they don't appear to be in the picture gallery at the top of the page, but it looks like those are the same pictures that a number of different similar cases from different sellers for the ones that have a option to choose the color (black, blue, gold), so really I'm just hoping that this case is what I expect, though it was cheap enough and otherwise interesting enough to potentially just check it out, but not really end up using it. Hopefully it'll turn out that my assumptions are correct, but currently ???. Actually, I probably should have asked the seller, and suppose I will now, but I still don't regret just throwing down the order so it'll come sooner rather than waiting /increasing the delay by waiting for them respond.
The deliver range is 9/19 - 10/10, so I post some feedback when it arrives.
i love this one
I purchased the case too, from ebay ... sadly I see the item has not been shipped upto now ...
sent the seller a message, haven't had any reply since a couple of days.
hope this is not a bump ! coz I really want to have the case ...
Anyone else has received his case for a review ?
They have a video here also:

Forgot to update re: the one I ordered... it doesn't have port covers, but as it turns out (because the checkout pages and PayPal linkage are not friends with some of my browser extensions) so first time I tried to check out it didn't work. I went back to a different page and signed into my eBay account and turned off a couple extensions. I saw that there was one item in my cart, so I figured that it was the case so just went and checked out, paying much more attention to whether it was working or not than what I was buying, which actually turned out to be a TPU case exactly like the one I have / explained with the port covers, except it's translucent grey as opposed to the transparent one that I ended up getting. So I "blew" a total of three American dollar bills (except not really, because now I can just cut the port covers off of the one I like less and possibly attach it to another case somehow) so then I went back and ordered the case that I meant to. I will say about that seller though, that he both shipped and answered my question super quickly after I messaged it.

Thanks

Here's one that I actually just ordered http://www.ebay.com/itm/251471912476?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT (by accident, heh... I was try to order a different cheap case via "Buy it Now" but one of my Firefox extensions was preventing the whole PayPal linkage popup thing, so I just opened the eBay app on my tablet, saw that there was 1 item in my cart, so I assumed it was the case I was just trying to buy, and didn't notice until I had already checked out that the cost was only $3... guess I had put this case in my cart but decided to get the clear one that I have now instead, but this one was and is still active, looks reasonably solid and it cost freakin 3 bucks! It hasn't arrived yet, nor has the $10 "Rick Smart" case that I intended to order, but I'm actually glad that I accidentally ordered this one too... if I don't like it more than my current clear one, I can just snip the port covers off and glue them to my Seidio wallet case, which was my former favorite, but I just didn't like the fact that it provided no protection for the bottom or top side beyond the corners).
Anyway, I think I initially ordered the clear one over this one because it was shipped from the U.S. and I'd get it sooner vs this one from China. More good news: It's currently 5% off, lowering the price from $1.95 to $1.85!! If you don't mind waiting, I really doubt you could do better for less than $4! As far as shipping is concerned, it's a flat $1.99, I ordered it on 9/5, the seller shipper right away, and the estimated delivery is between 9/17 and 10/1 (I'm predicting closer to the former, since the seller seemed totally on top of it).
If you want one sooner though, there are several on eBay if you search for something like "Galaxy Note 3 case with port covers" or variation of that. You can also put "dustproof" or "waterproof" into your searches, but that increases the likelihood that a higher percentage of your results will be cases that FULLY cover the phone via mutli-layered cases with a cover for the top that usually has a built in termpered glass screen cover. Actually many of those look really nice, and I'd likely order one if I didn't already have a tempered glass screen protector attached. There are TONS of widely varying cases on eBay, if you just search for EXACTLY what you're looking for, there's a pretty good chance that your results will contain several options of exactly what you're looking for to choose from. If the pictures leave some doubt re: whether the case is exactly what you want, just msg the seller. If they don't answer by like, the next day, just cross that option off your list and pick a different one.
BTW, you bastard! Looking through ebay's selection of cases to write this post, It's pretty much a certainty that I'll come across one that I definitely don't need, but "is super pimped and clearly much better than ALL the other ones I already have... for only x $'s? Buy it NOW button!" Already have a few contenders...
